    This video is priceless in terms of improving performance of any 1911 and this OCD concept could be used literally on all pistols in existence today. On a shopping mission to buy dremmel tool and mother's aluminum polish.

    Excellent video. I have always done my polishing starting with the green compound. I use blue jeweler's polish to finish and I have had excellent results. It's basically the equivalent of the Mother's you are using in the video. There's just something very satisfying about the end result after wiping the compound away, that extremely slick surface almost feels soft (to me) in a way.

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  7 лет назад +1

      It's worth the effort - and it definitely increases reliability.

    This is the clearest best focused video on slicking up those vital contact points that often cause malfunctions especially with hollow point bullets! Most all semi auto handguns bought new can use some polishing to enhance feeding various rounds...I commend you Mr. One keep the high quality gun porn videos coming...no pun intended... 10mm damn right...

      This one has also had the feed rails polished and gone through a trigger job. Then again, a trigger job on a 1911 does require a bit of training and the correct tools / stones.

    I have a question: Based on your own experience, you'd say that shooting 10mm with a 6" barrel it has less recoil that a 5" barrel?

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  6 лет назад +1

      That mostly depends on the design. Handguns with a low bore axis will generally produce less felt recoil than other designs.

      I purchased the Iver Johnson Eagle XL-10 Ported last weekend and got it a couple of days ago; my first 1911 ever! I wasn't sure what to expect since I had never shot a 10mm before. However, just as you said, the recoil was not bad at all due to the ported barrel and slide. I had a lot of fun. Now, the one thing I noticed was that within just a few rounds the front sight was covered with gun powder and I had to clean it often just to be able to see it. Any recommendations?

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  5 лет назад

      @@edwinsantos9537 A lot of that has to do with the gunpowder certain manufactures use. Some brands of ammo just burn cleaner than others. I almost exclusively fire my own reloads - loaded with some of the cleaner burning gunpowder's on the market. I also carry some wet-wipe packets in my range bag just in case.

    • @edwinsantos9537

  • @harrycallahan692
    @harrycallahan692 7 лет назад

    How do feel about the 1911 Chambered for the .357 Magnum Cartridge? The Coonan 1911 as an example. I've watched many videos and read many forums how both the 10mm and .357 magnum do not feed well in the 1911 platform?

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  7 лет назад +2

      Yes, rimmed cartridges like the .357 occasionally have problems feeding in semi-autos. The 10mm is a rimless cartridge specifically designed to work in semi-autos. Take what you hear on the forum's with a large dose of salt Harry. Most of those guys do not even own the firearms they love to rattle on about.

    • @harrycallahan692
      @harrycallahan692 7 лет назад +2

      I must admit you do have an unwavering commitment to the 1911 and the 10mm. I do own several 1911's. I would like more of them like that Rock Island Armory in 10mm. But since I reside in a non free State of the Peoples' Republic of California the Oligarch here wants all of my firearms.

    • @JKCullens
      @JKCullens 8 лет назад

      what it fit no problem? that's why I have been hesitant on getting a Jericho because there is no aftermarket support and the thing I would want to do most with that one is the short reset trigger kit, hammer and spring kit to have the "reliability" improved for want to use it concealed carry. their 3.8 in that's a compact with 10+1 of 45

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  8 лет назад +1

      It wasn't exactly a "drop in" fit, it took a little filing and stoning to get it to fit correctly. As far as short reach triggers and spring kits go, the ones Wilson Combat sells sure make a big difference in my Beretta's.

    • @JKCullens
      @JKCullens 8 лет назад +1

      yeah the kit for the CZ pistols by Cajun gunworks are insane the double action pull is about 6.5-7 pounds and if the fairies work their magic the single action can be sub 3 but they tune it to 3-3.5 and they can get the total trigger movement for single action to 1.5 mm and that's insane.

    Do you have any opinion about Titanium firing pins? Is that a modification in performance enhancement? It seems changing the firing pin would be an easy modification?

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  7 лет назад +1

      There's really no reason to change out a firing pin that isn't worn or broken. There's an old adage, "If it's not broken - don't fix it!" If it is broken, by all means replace it with whatever you like.
