This video is priceless in terms of improving performance of any 1911 and this OCD concept could be used literally on all pistols in existence today. On a shopping mission to buy dremmel tool and mother's aluminum polish. Man, your contribution to this type of knowledge is priceless, wish I could save some of your videos onto my computer but I don't know how to do it...Thx brother.
I always do, however, in case of shtf scenario when there is no internet anymore, would be nice to have some of these videos saved on a computer without depending on the availability of internet service. Cheers
Excellent video. I have always done my polishing starting with the green compound. I use blue jeweler's polish to finish and I have had excellent results. It's basically the equivalent of the Mother's you are using in the video. There's just something very satisfying about the end result after wiping the compound away, that extremely slick surface almost feels soft (to me) in a way.
This is the clearest best focused video on slicking up those vital contact points that often cause malfunctions especially with hollow point bullets! Most all semi auto handguns bought new can use some polishing to enhance feeding various rounds...I commend you Mr. One keep the high quality gun porn videos coming...no pun intended... 10mm damn right...
I’ve definitely learned a few things from watching your videos. Actually have a few questions in regards to your Iver Johnson Eagle XL in 10mm. What holster do you use for the 6inch 1911? Love your videos and channel, keep up the awesome work.
Icarryone Ok then. I just might pick this over the Glock 10 g40 gen 4. What do you fee like? I've had the H&K USP 45 full size. It was a beast but 10 MM seems way better from the stats.
Great video! Thank you. But I must say, the whole time, I felt like I was watching one of those Jimminy Cricket cartoons that is narrated. You just have that voice! lol. Awesome!
Great video again by the master of firearms - Question i got a EAA WITNESS 10mm Tuesday nice shooter - Looking at buying the Ivory Johnson 10mm with the ported barrel with the six inches barrel and do some upgrading to it - Would you recommend. This model ???
Good video i do mine by hand and i do the entire gun steel/aluminum/metal that I can polish inside the weapon nothing like a good feeding/cycling weapon with no issues!!!
This one has also had the feed rails polished and gone through a trigger job. Then again, a trigger job on a 1911 does require a bit of training and the correct tools / stones.
How is this holding up in the long run .. since it doesn't have a ramped barrel how does it do with Full power loads like underwood or reloads .. i know the delta elites don't like a heavy diet of them
What holster are you using for this pistol? I have one after watching your reviews of it. I think I'd like to do a chest rig, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Pretty hard for anyone like us to get sleep these days... i love those barrel ports, i watched your other video on them, but would you recomend trying to do them yourself?
how many rounds have you put threw it Eagle XL and also have you encountered any characteristic quarks/problems? Im looking into buying one and im trying to make the decision ppl are always shying me away from the idea since its a Philippines produced gun. how does it compare to other 1911's? say springfield?
I purchased the Iver Johnson Eagle XL-10 Ported last weekend and got it a couple of days ago; my first 1911 ever! I wasn't sure what to expect since I had never shot a 10mm before. However, just as you said, the recoil was not bad at all due to the ported barrel and slide. I had a lot of fun. Now, the one thing I noticed was that within just a few rounds the front sight was covered with gun powder and I had to clean it often just to be able to see it. Any recommendations?
@@edwinsantos9537 A lot of that has to do with the gunpowder certain manufactures use. Some brands of ammo just burn cleaner than others. I almost exclusively fire my own reloads - loaded with some of the cleaner burning gunpowder's on the market. I also carry some wet-wipe packets in my range bag just in case.
One more thing, I’m having problems finding a leather side holster for it. Anything out there in my area is for up to a 5-inch pistol. Any recommendations?
How do feel about the 1911 Chambered for the .357 Magnum Cartridge? The Coonan 1911 as an example. I've watched many videos and read many forums how both the 10mm and .357 magnum do not feed well in the 1911 platform?
Yes, rimmed cartridges like the .357 occasionally have problems feeding in semi-autos. The 10mm is a rimless cartridge specifically designed to work in semi-autos. Take what you hear on the forum's with a large dose of salt Harry. Most of those guys do not even own the firearms they love to rattle on about.
I must admit you do have an unwavering commitment to the 1911 and the 10mm. I do own several 1911's. I would like more of them like that Rock Island Armory in 10mm. But since I reside in a non free State of the Peoples' Republic of California the Oligarch here wants all of my firearms.
what it fit no problem? that's why I have been hesitant on getting a Jericho because there is no aftermarket support and the thing I would want to do most with that one is the short reset trigger kit, hammer and spring kit to have the "reliability" improved for want to use it concealed carry. their 3.8 in that's a compact with 10+1 of 45
It wasn't exactly a "drop in" fit, it took a little filing and stoning to get it to fit correctly. As far as short reach triggers and spring kits go, the ones Wilson Combat sells sure make a big difference in my Beretta's.
yeah the kit for the CZ pistols by Cajun gunworks are insane the double action pull is about 6.5-7 pounds and if the fairies work their magic the single action can be sub 3 but they tune it to 3-3.5 and they can get the total trigger movement for single action to 1.5 mm and that's insane.
Do you have any opinion about Titanium firing pins? Is that a modification in performance enhancement? It seems changing the firing pin would be an easy modification?
There's really no reason to change out a firing pin that isn't worn or broken. There's an old adage, "If it's not broken - don't fix it!" If it is broken, by all means replace it with whatever you like.
I don't know how to do this any other way,so-realization has set in that I need a 9mm 1911. Used only for paper and steel (at my club), I would like it to be stainless steel and up to $1000. Please give me your advice on what to buy.
Is iver Johnson's rare or no longer in production??? Because I missed out on an iver johnson gi 1911 and now im seeing the carbine one that you showed. Id rather have that colt iv had my eye on then yhe metro arms amd ati 1911s but I also dont want to grow old wishing id bought a rare gun.

I appreciate this video but I have to say, this kind up maintainance shouldn't be required for a brand new gun. I've tried wilson combat, sig sauer and other mags but can not get this gun to fire completely through 1 magazine without jamming. It wont even load up the first round without jamming. This is an awful gun!!! Speaking about my Eagle XL 10 mm.
Great informative video...no acting no bullshit. Straight to the point. beatiful guns and 1of my favorite gun channels. keep it up..
Thanks - I actually do try.

I use a shoulder rig for this 1911.
Beautiful!! I must find one!!
Only thing that keeps me from the 1911's are the squire safety on the handle. Great video though and love your ways. Keep it up.

Sorry no still photos but it did come out rather nice, if I say so myself. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for making this video
My pleasure Jerr.
I was expecting to se a bit of a teardown with action polish,
especially in areas on the hammer and trigger. I’m sure someone
has posted that!
There should be a number of videos that illustrate that procedure.
Wow, thanks for this video. It makes me want to buy this Iver even more! What are some other easy mods can one do?

I just ordered the non ported version of this pistol from Buds gun shop.
Depending on the 10mm ammo you choose to shoot, you might have to upgrade the recoil spring to handle the hotter loaded brands of ammunition.
I have my grandfather's pistol he was issued in ww2 its a colt 1911 chambered in. 38 super its got ALOT of weathering on it but runs like day one

Let me answer your questions this way; I don't review firearms that are problematic and not worth owning.
Fair enough then it looks like a good gun for me to get my hands on Thanks.
I have a question: Based on your own experience, you'd say that shooting 10mm with a 6" barrel it has less recoil that a 5" barrel?
That mostly depends on the design. Handguns with a low bore axis will generally produce less felt recoil than other designs.
Thanks!
You're quite welcome.
Thanks for the insight!
