These are the most popular operating systems from 2009 to 2021 (computer, phone and console OS)
This video shows the market share of popular operating systems used in popular devices like computers, phones and gaming consoles. Before this period Windows held a monopoly of the market for almost two decades with a 90% market share. - Наука
A big battle between android and windows. Commonly people use windows in pc and android in smart phone. And both are important for a common man.
Who you calling 'common' :-P

They are used in Tv boxes, smart tvs and ever heard of Android x86?
And now many people don't really use PCs anymore. Now many just own smart phones.

A lot of people doesnt use Linux because it doesnt support many programs. And developers arent making programs for Linux because there arent many people who use Linux. The same goes with Android tablets.

It’s funny because a lot of these, including Android, use the Linux kernel.
Heck, even Windows 10 uses it to some degree.
How windows 10 uses it to some degree? Doesn't it uses the same nt kernel?
@@soham7510 It does. What I meant is that they use it to operate WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux).
And although unrelated to Windows 10, it's also worth pointing out that Microsoft just quietly released their own Linux distro for server-side cloud infrastructure called CBL-Mariner.
If so its good, Linux is in our lives, and living inside us, it never died 🤩🤩😭 its so good
yeah, it uses the linux kernel. so?
Everybody is a Linux user. Most people just aren't aware of it.
It does its job so well that it isn't even noticed.
Half the OS's here run the GNU/Linux kernel in some form so if you was to take away Android, Chrome OS and others that do and just put them under Linux instead of their respected brands Linux would be on top.
It's just so wrong to compare specific kinds of Linux against the generic "Linux". -.-
Most people who hate linux don't even know that they're using it every day (mobile).
There is no "GNU/Linux kernel". There is no system but GNU, and Linux is one of its kernels
The comparison is right, Android has any GNU on it, it runs over Linux but Linux is not the complete OS, and the Android architecture puts a lot of layers over it.
In case of Chrome OS it was intially Gentoo based but It has been that modified that there's no more GNU running on it (even if some other tools of gentoo like portage stills there), but it doesn't make sense to split chrome os in two categories. Anyways, who cares. Its just a video for entertainment.
Android still has it's own custom kernel if you compare it with the Linux one. It's combination of Linux and some other shit.
Kernel is Linux
But the os is android...
Which is why is they are separate and also probably cuz it has more modifications but we dont rly know since the os is not open source

I am suprised linux is so small legit really good os and all the distros
Chrome os is also Linux
I think It's because the majority of windows, Mac, android devices come with an oem os preinstalled, whereas Linux has to be manually installed. There are some PC's that do come with a version of Linux installed though
I think it's because Linux is harder to use and many programs like Office, Adobe, most games doesn't work on Linux.

@@EvandroJRSilva-mu6mi It's True
Android: 😏
There seems to be confusion in the comments over what is considered "Linux" here.
Most of these statistics for OS tracking only look at the client OSs that people are most likely to run to access online services and they only count GNU/Linux systems (the regular distros: Debian/Arch/Fedora/etc. and their derivatives) as "Linux". It's a poor representation for sure and since it's the clients we're looking at, servers, appliances, network gear, etc., don't count. Just desktop/mobile usage (GNU/Linux distros have made there way onto smart phones, but its rare),. Also, the average person doesn't understand these things along with the difference between a kernel and an OS. For most people, all that matters is the computer in front of them as a complete system and they don't know anything about the servers they connect to, or the WiFi routers they use (and the average person really doesn't care about those things). Plus things like Android, wireless routers, super computers, etc., that all run on Linux are so vastly different from each other that it wouldn't be right to lump them all together because they're all operated very differently and have very different purposes.
Android is by technical definition a Linux based OS because it runs the Linux kernel, but it's such a different system from the traditional distros that it really shouldn't be counted with them. ChromeOS (also a Linux based OS) is closer related to traditional "Linux" systems, but still considered different enough to be counted separately.
It's like all these Linux systems are fruit. However, there's very different types of fruit out there, apples, dragon fruit, oranges, bananas, etc. that while you can say you eat fruit, most people will want to know which specific fruit you eat because of how different the fruits can be to each other. The rest is perception. When you say "fruit" which one comes to mind? Apples? Bananas? etc. Depending on where you live and sometimes what you do for a living, that answer will change. The same is often true for "Linux". If you live around a lot of IT folks, tech savvy, or are a hobbyist, or a paid pro yourself, what exactly comes to your mind when you hear "Linux" may be pretty different depending on your exposure to it. A lot of times when someones goes to represent "fruit" with an image, an apple is used. Just as with "Linux" you usually see Tux and the GNU/Linux distros lumped together. Neither representation is perfect and both leave out a LOT of other things, but it's better than nothing I suppose. You can try and change it if you'd like, and good luck with that...
Very well said. I also like that when you are talking about traditional "Linux" distros, you put the *GNU* part first in GNU/Linux. Most people, even tech savvy people, don't give enough credit to what GNU provides. I think the word "Linux" is thrown around way too much by both normies and tech savvy people alike. I wonder what Linus Torvalds considers "Linux" to be exactly.
@@coolsimpsons A good question, my guess is the kernel he developed but considering how so many have contributed to it and morphed it into so many different things for so many other projects, it may be something much more. I'm sure someone must've asked him at some point.

@@Gadgetonomy There used to be a competition between Microsoft and Apple. It was the second OS war, I think. The first was between Amiga and Atari.

A really awesome, incredible battle between Android and Windows. It's like a story to me. Windows became the top operating system. All the others were less than 1%. Android kept hope to become the top. At the same time IOS, with well-prepared, started firing. Android continued to chase trait rather than give up. And then with a lightning-speed, bet IOS. Windows saw someone chasing behind. And released new versions. Even if not caught Android, others such as MacOS kept growing and growing. Finally Android with full force, rushed forward. There started the superbattle between the 2 tops. Windows released newer versions, and so Android did. At last, both of them kept going further and behind, finally Android released a new version. With full power won the fight.
