Sorry but this is an L take. Brands with good marketing all have "their color", Ducati is red, Yamaha is blue, Kawasaki is green, it helps with brand recognition. Sure, some companies do all black on some models, but then you're just another black piece of metal going down the road and you can't tell what brand it is immediately. Cars don't really have this type of color coordination because they have more "shape" with all the plastic and fenders, but bikes don't have a lot of room to work with to make something that really separates them from another bike unless you already know motorcycles. Take a look at Harley-Davidson and Indian, anyone who doesn't know bikes thinks they're all just Harleys. Orange is an awesome color, almost no cars and only 1 other bike manufacturer (Harley) use it, making it more of a head turner than the stereotypical "fast" color red. The high contrast even helps you be more visible on the road, having the same visual pop as a traffic cone. If you don't like orange just paint/wrap over it, companies shouldn't cater to pickiness (see about Ducati below) and I HIGHLY doubt that anyone would not consider a bike simply because of the color. If they would, then they are buying a motorcycle for the wrong reasons. You should buy a bike because you like the comfort, power, technology, reliability, and safety features. Design/color is the lowest on the list for comparison because it doesn't impact YOUR riding experience at all, it only changes what other people see when they look at you. It's extremely superficial to choose a bike based on color unless you're just gonna be sitting in the garage looking at it, or you are an instagram model. Ducati's Unica program is essentially just a custom bike for an "EXTREMELY LIMITED number of requests each year". Given this is DUCATI, this will most likely be extremely expensive and not something an ordinary customer will even consider, similar to Lamborghini or other high end Italian manufacturers. You could probably custom repaint any motorcycle for cheaper than this program will be. I've had 2 superduke's, both 2020's. First was the orange/blue, my current one (not the one in profile pic) is the all black with orange frame. I've seen pictures of how it looks when I'm on it and its still not enough orange for my taste. My legs almost completely block the orange frame so most people think its just black. I'm getting a bagoros performance decal kit for it that should add a bit of orange back in, but the new 1390 superduke in all orange looks surprisingly good, better than the blue/orange in my opinion. Also, the all black with orange frame is making a comeback next year too, so customers have an option if they don't like the hyper orange look, the orange frame is very subtle and you don't even see it when riding.
It's a brand colour... I dont need to look at any emblem to know it's a KTM.. If it's orange. I would say its their brand identity colour If there are a group of bikes I will know which is kawasaki by the green, which is ktm by the orange, which is yamaha by blue, which is a Ducati by red,
My 18 is all black. Except the headlight plastic backing and the wheel stripe. We don't want people on superdukes if they don't like orange. They can take a hike.
Yes when I was looking at 2020 1290 SDR, I originally was looking at black with orange frame but they were asking $18.7 + ttl so got mine for $15.3 + ttl with current colors.
There are black and white versions , or black n grey, and just like a second hand Harley; go to home depot and spend 15 bucks on a spray can if it bothers that much
Literally the reasons I won't even look at one. I don't like the orange. I'm getting a new grey street triple RS and the decals are partly orange and I'm peeling them and making them white and black.
the main reason I would not even consider a KTM is the reliability, seen too many horror stories of mechanical and electrical issues alongside the poor customer service.
Are you serious. The colour is the issue? But them doing pay to play where the bike comes with all the tech but need to pay for it to be unlocked and issues with reliability isn't? This is childish. Also instead of worrying about colour how about you address your front forks buttoming out.. See your priorities are in the wrong place.
I love the orange , but the new 2024 Duke 990 you can buy in black and there are just a few orange stickers on it quickly removed and replaced , the same for the 2024 Duke 790 , I have the 2023 Duke 890R in blue and orange , just love it , for me no KTM without orange 🙂
I agree. I don’t like orange wether it is a street bike or a dirt bike. It shouldn’t be a deciding factor but we all know these are often impulsive emotional purchases so…
Mate you talk absolutely no sense.. KTM is orange and always will be . Like Ducati is red . There is so many graphics kits for KTM like no others you can change colour anytime. Plus KTM did SDR in black you cant see many because people buy more orange . Who saying i dont want KTM because is orange talk rubbish and can keep dreaming.
Ducati offers other colors than red. Graphic kits don’t change the orange frame color found on majority of KTM’s. Cool to see how much KTM owners defend KTM though 😂.
@TwoWheelTurban so you saying they don't do them with black frame ? Go away 🤣 I don't defend KTM I think every manufacturer have own colou. Ktm is orange. Kawasaki green. Ducati offers different colours custom from factory but they charge well for it 😆
That’s a good point, my thought process with all black is that it provides a good base to add colors without creating clashes that orange often creates.

Well thought out comment, thanks for watching! Ride safe on your SDR.

Agreed! But the other manufacturers tend to offer other color ways that don’t include their “known” brand color. It nice having a choice.
My 18 is all black. Except the headlight plastic backing and the wheel stripe. We don't want people on superdukes if they don't like orange. They can take a hike.
Ha fair enough! Thanks for watching man, ride safe on your SDR.
i think you should look at more ktms I have a black one with an orange frame looks great
Yes when I was looking at 2020 1290 SDR, I originally was looking at black with orange frame but they were asking $18.7 + ttl so got mine for $15.3 + ttl with current colors.
Buy the Brabus. All black. If it’s to expensive, then buy all the carbon parts and wrap the frame. You’re welcome 😁😁
Didn’t even know that existed, insanely expensive and limited but cool.
There are black and white versions , or black n grey, and just like a second hand Harley; go to home depot and spend 15 bucks on a spray can if it bothers that much
Ha I wouldn’t want to spray can a nearly $20k bike.
for the problem. Husqvarna is the solution
change my mind XD
Haha!! I need a husky! I want the 701 SM, looks too much fun.
They will all be made in china soon which cause them to lose sales also.
Really? I did not hear about that. I hope the bigger displacement bikes continue to be produced in Austria.
It's only the 790 that is assembled in China.
And name 1 brand that doesn't use parts made in China....
Literally the reasons I won't even look at one. I don't like the orange. I'm getting a new grey street triple RS and the decals are partly orange and I'm peeling them and making them white and black.
Nice man! Those new street triples look like a blast. I don’t see them too often also which is a plus factor.
You could just buy a black KTM.
Or you could always get a vinyl set and have it any color you want.
the main reason I would not even consider a KTM is the reliability, seen too many horror stories of mechanical and electrical issues alongside the poor customer service.
Yes the reliability has always concerned me, my bike has gone in to limp mode at least 10 times at random moments.
The front fork gauge gas never been moved from the bottom. I can assure you they have never been bottomed out😂. I just don’t use the rings.

Man the 890 is such an awesome bike! I haven’t had a chance to ride one but I hear the handling is out of this world.
I agree. I don’t like orange wether it is a street bike or a dirt bike. It shouldn’t be a deciding factor but we all know these are often impulsive emotional purchases so…
Yes sir exactly! For most of us it’s a very emotional decision.

I completely agree w you. Basically the only reason I refuse to even consider a ktm (no matter how good I know they are) is the screaming orange
i like orange but i sat on the duke 390 at the dealer, and i got a cramp in my glutes... i think it was made for short people
Yes the 390 is a compact bike, I’d recommend checking out a 790 or 890.
i am a beginner, didn't buy my first bike yet @@TwoWheelTurban
Just put in the title
Then you wouldn’t have clicked…ambiguity
All black is boring and it makes all bikes look the same. I want mine to stand out at least a little bit.
That’s a good point, my thought process with all black is that it provides a good base to add colors without creating clashes that orange often creates.
