  • Joseph Barone Jr is the longest running informant in the history of the American mafia. He was raised with mob ties; his father was a made man with the Genovese crime family, and it wasn't long before Joe Jr. started running with wise guys. He got close with the Bonanno crime family and started working for them-- loansharking, running sports betting operations, and robbing drug dealers. But when his father, who was on the run from the Genovese in Honduras, mysteriously ended up dead, Joe decided to flip and start working for the FBI. He spent the next 18 years giving the Feds information on the inner workings of the mob that led to countless takedowns. He's here to tell us all about how his decision was made, the lessons he learned and the struggles of living a double life!

He also said his lawyer robbed him for 86k and 30-45 seconds later he says 20k!! The mob guys should have known within 30 minutes of meeting this guy that he was no good. Who TF voluntarily goes to the Feds for help and isn’t even in any kind of trouble. If he would tell the truth I guarantee you that he really knew 2-3 associates and maybe spoke to 1-2 made guys here and there but nobody and I’m saying nobody from the civilian world or gangster world took him serious as being a street guy. That’s why he volunteered to work for the Feds for money. Selfish, weak hearted, poor excuse for a man!!

Man this caught my attention. My great uncle joe Barone was a bootlegger and a mean individual they worked out of my grandpa's bar. I had pictures of al capone at the bar. Anyway the family down the street had a bar and things went bad. One of the other family members stuck dynamite under my uncles house but the fuse went out. The guy ran the fuse through a garden hose. Well my uncle grabbed the hose. The guy cut his own garden hose and my uncle matched the ends. My uncle walked down the street and shot the guy 3 times in the head and was aquitted. The difference in my family no one said anything. Even my uncle who was a kid and testified never told me years later. Wouldnt talk about it. It recently pulled old newspaper clips. I understand why my dad moved us to calif. My dad passed at 48 a lot of unanswered questions. My biggest was is how or why we sat at mickey cohens table at a wedding. I used to be interested but these stories make a mockery of what little i was told.
