      @@bestieboots Thanks so much for your kind words and support.
      It is both a strength and weakness of what I'm doing. Memory touches everything (or everything is in memory). That means memory itself is the central focus and there's endless things to talk about and no centralized community as there is in the memory competition world.
      Overall, I think that's great, even if it's at the cost of decentralization across the board.

  • @aflack1000
    @aflack1000 4 месяца назад +6

    I know the memory palace works. Over 50 tears ago a memory expert taught us a form using a car. The hood ornament was one, windshield was two, dashboard was three, glove box was 4, and so on until we got to 15. He then read off a list of items and had us place them in each location of the car starting with one. Each item was placed and we were to imagine something sort of weird. For instance, the item for the brake pedal was "bishop." We could imagine a bishop having his head squashed when we applied the brake. (Ewww) Thing is - it's now over 50 years later and even though I haven't used this technique, I still remember almost every one of the places and numbers on the car, but also the list of items.
    And what you say about writing? College for me was a breeze since I love to improve my penmanship. Every class had two notebooks. I used one to take notes in class. That night I got out the second notebook, organized my notes, added diagrams when needed, and re-wrote everything neatly and with as perfect penmanship I could manage (which happens to be quite lovely.) Done! When test time rolled around, I simply took a quick tour of my second notebook and aced the test. It left plenty of time for parties.
    Don't take this the wrong way, buuuut - there's something quite lovable about you 😃

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  4 месяца назад +3

      I'm not sure if it's true, but there have been a few people comment on how penmanship efforts lead to better memory.
      And someone I know with great memory is into calligraphy and was on the podcast a while back:
      ruclips.net/video/SIEWtw8B-j4/видео.html
      It is a testament to the technique that you remember these details from decades ago. Just imagine using it in earnest distributed across a network of locations.
      It's certainly not for everyone, and there are other ways to get things remembered. But it's like "writing in the mind" and I still write out by hand what I've memorized to get the best of all possible worlds.
      Thanks for sharing your experiences and talk soon!

      Can you state in your own words what it is that you didn't get? Chances are that if I don't know what it is you didn't understand, I won't be able to explain it any better.
      On top of that, wording out what we don't understand is a powerful comprehension strategy.
      One step further: As I discussed in the video above, sometimes certain things have to be put into action *without* understanding in order for the energy of perspective to open up.
      Please say more and we'll take it from there. :-)

    Very interesting considerations for extending the memory palace into a while city, but one thing... Actually two things I want to ask you. For one category like science, is there going to be alphabetical memory palaces (a-z) within the city 🏙️ or is it going to be free for all (it might be in the video I think)? Second question, did you make a video about how to memorize images because sometimes I would like to memorize a piece of art, but sometimes life can be really busy so my mind wouldn't have the comprehension to do so. 😢 Sorry for the bad paragraph since i have some history for not making the perfect sentences. Nothing wrong with Major only, but I waited too long to upgrade given all of the additional things it allows you to do when you work out your Major into this nearly automatic configuration of bi-directional tools.
      More about its bidirectionality is in the video on Aristotle's Nuclear Alphabet, especially near the end.

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your question.
      There are different ways to answer this question.
      First, there's the value of having strong working memory. That's just a good in itself and very significant. Much more important than high IQ as a predictor of performance in several studies I've read.
      Then there's the ability to memorize a wide variety of things: the names of formulas and theorems, for example.
      You can also better visual shapes and flows and intensities at the conceptual level, etc.
      So I'd say go all in on mnemonics. At the end of the day, the thinking through and development of your own mnemonic systems will do your brain and memory a lot of good.

      @mangomight7938 4 месяца назад

      Locis/memory palace items can be "zoomed in" making them into palaces of their own. Can be useful when you have to create a hierarchical structure. The least confusing structure would contain only two dimensions i.e. units/subunits. So maybe having one memory palace for each chapter would suffice. You would have to zoom in on each sub chapter loci and then place locis for topics and facts mixed together onto them like they were normal memory palaces. The less details the easier it would be to maintain, hopefully your natural memory can make up for it.

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM I didn't know you camped, camping is cool except for the sleeping part. Even if one has air mattresses etc, it's still hard. But the money 💰 one saves helps ease the pain of a mediocre night sleep 💤.

      I love the sleeping part myself. The earth has a special energy.
      Even in the best hotels, I often find the beds way too soft and they wind up hurting my back more than the ground.
      But I've found that different areas of the earth are different. Some areas are less easy than others. But overall, I'm a big fan of earthing and even lay on my back on the wood floor a few times a week just to ground. It's not unusual for me to fall asleep like that.

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM I'll be darned. So much for my theory. Well I guess it's more of a thing where sleeping in my car relaxes my brain because I know I'm not going to get eaten by the Florida alligators. You know my mother's sister is a Catholic nun, and she has a master's degree in earth science. She used to always speak highly of the book titled, "Healed by the Earth." Have you ever bicycled toured Anthony with camping gear?

      That sounds like a book I need to read!
      No, I never tried taking camping gear on a bike... but that's because when I did tour around on bikes, I insisted an riding very difficult ones... as you can see in the photo in this video...
      I still have a bike like that... not much fun on hills and bad for the knees. But for beach cruising, a blast.

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM for example i learned speed of light and sound in meters per second. 299 792 458 m/s mnemonic: Obi one caNOBe (=299) is holding a light CONE (=792) it's ROUGH (-458) for a couple of meters but it only takes a second to smooth it. Then s =340.27 m/s is speed of sound so i went with s= skywalker and he has MOSS (-340) at a point (decimal point) on his NECK ( 2 digit major = 27) which Makes (=meters) a Sound (=second).
      I really liked the serendipity of this one because the star wars theme and also the light cone where CONE translates to the 3 digits in the middle.

    Friend, I like you very much, actually the thing is that my exam is the day after tomorrow and I have not studied that well, I have failed in the exam once, now it is compartment exam, if I fail this time also, then mom. And the family members are feeling very strange and are getting anxious This happened because I did not focus on my studies and I read a lot of different books. Till now I have read 500 books on self-development and many other things at home. I read a lot of books on biography, Sanskrit and memory. Was working in the upper mind
    But I have seen the struggles of many big people in my life and Sundar Saheb is also there, but right now I am broken, I don't know what to do, I am not able to understand anything, I have not studied well I Know That Single Seat Paper Cannot Decide future. But if I fail this time too, it will create a lot of problems for me.
    If I fail once more, I will have to study for one more year, but this year I passed after seeing my friend's Math paper because I had not appeared for 2 years and 3 years and I passed after seeing his, but this If I fail in just one subject this time then I will have to repeat five subjects ki
    I will be in a lot of trouble, what do you want to tell me? Ki Whatever is for me, I am open for you

      Thanks for your post.
      Above all things, I would suggest to take as much pressure off as you can.
      Then focus on learning to use mnemonics as you study and use relaxation and breathing to help make all aspects of the journey much more pleasant, even when and if they can't be.
      Hope this helps!

      A few things:
      First, it's important to seek some help when you're having thoughts like these. There could be physical issues like a thyroid condition, etc. that needs addressing. Get all the bases covered.
      Second, school is hard and stressful, as is much of life. Yet, all around us, many people succeed. That means you can too when you get the support you need - which is unlikely to be found in comment threads on the Internet.
      That said, if it helps in any way, this TEDx Talk is about some things that helped me:
      ruclips.net/video/kvtYjdriSpM/видео.html
      I was very depressed in university and talk more about how I got out of these issues in The Victorious Mind. If you're in the right mental space for reading, it might help you out.
      But please don't even consider reading books until you've gone and seen a professional. This is very important.
