Even though it wasn’t a 1 vs. 2 game. That 2019 LSU vs. Bama game had the atmosphere and stakes of one. But no, the CFP Committee just HAD to make OSU No. 1.

Looking back at that 2011 season, it was awesome to watch despite LSU not winning the championship. It was cool because both teams were as OP as you can possibly get. So much talent on both sides of the ball, the coaching was what made the difference.
lsu always has a phenomenal defense besides the first half of 2019 and 2020. all the talent in the world they’ve been a brick wall in the past. now that we’ve changed our offense we can be consistently elite

@@notnotgavin Since 1990 there have been more than 34 teams that have gone winless. Not including vacated wins and 2020 shortened season, there are 34 since 1990. If you include the shortened season then it stands at 43 but only one of those 9 winless teams in 2020 played more than 9 games 🕵🤷
@@notnotgavin NCAA records will show teams such as 2005 USC as winless due to violations and vacated wins. Otherwise as I stated above, there has been 34 very very sad seasons in the last 30 years.

Technically the 2019 LSU-Bama game was also #1 vs #2 based on the AP poll, which I'm pretty sure all these other games were using. The only reasons it doesn't say it on the CBS scoreboard from that game is because they were using the CFP rankings.

I want to point out that the first game presented here (#1 LSU v. #3 Alabama) was argued to be the most boring game among Top-5 teams (I'd be hard to argue against that...) - both teams were playing not to lose (zzzzz....). But then as the season went on, pundits kept on piling on, "Oh, SURE, Alabama could make this championship game, but only if A, B, and C happens." Guess what? A, B and C happened, and the pundits were agog. And When I saw those final pre-champoioship BCS rankings, I knew Bama wouldn't lose. But never did I imagine that they took the Bayou Bengals to the woodshed that badly.

Ohio St. & Michigan both went on to get absolutely hammered in their postseason games for that season. Ohio St. by Florida in the 2006 BCS mythical FBS football national championship game. In a postgame interview one of the Florida players claimed that they played against 5 other SEC teams that season that were better than what Ohio St. was !!!
LSU had several opportunities to get the ball in that 1st game that Alabama didn’t have ( Alabama never even sniffed the end zone in that game, a complete reversal of the postseason game ).
LSU had to kick a FG on 3rd down while being at Alabama’s 1 yard line because of there only being 2 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. LSU also had to kick a FG after having a TD called back because their RB barely stepped out of bounds while going down the sideline for a TD with no Alabama defensive players anywheres around him. That game honestly shouldn’t have ever even went into overtime !!!
The 2019 LSU & Alabama game also could’ve been in this video too !! LSU & Alabama were only ranked #2 & #3 in the CFP standings at the time of the game, but they were ranked #1 & #2 in the Coaches Poll going into that game !! Maybe even in the AP Poll too, but wanting to think that LSU was #1 & Ohio St. was #2 in the AP Poll for that week without looking it up !! But I know for certain that they were ranked #1 & #2 in the Coaches Poll for that week !!
Yeah it shouldn't have went into overtime if not for Cade Foster missing like 3 field goals for Alabama. Also Micheal Williams the Alabama TE had possession of a catch that would have put Alabama on the 1 yard line but the LSU defender snatched it away after Williams shoulder had already hit the turf and the ref called it an interception and didn't have the camera angle on the review to over turn but Alabama outplayed LSU both games in 2011. LSU had the better kicking game the first game which ended up being the difference maker.
Delusional is what that player was. WR that returned game opening kick for a td got hurt while celebrating, our QB got fat over the break it was just a disaster. Bad coaching

For a long time the Field Goal Kickers were a definite weak spot for the Alabama Crimson Tides football team. There are a few games that the losses our beloved football team suffered, were due to the poor performances shown by our kickers.
But atlas, as of late, the kicking for the defending National Champions has been quite good! I should note, however, that if the kicking would decrease and resemble the ways of old, I would be very displeased.

I’m a diehard Bammer. With that being said, that 2006 OSU vs Michigan game is perhaps the best contest I’ve ever witnessed. Those teams were clearly the best two teams in the country that season.

The 1996 Mulligan year still pisses me off. The dumbest rule ever that FSU wasn’t allowed to play a PAC 10 team because they had to play OSU. They couldn’t find another team for FSU to play. Had to be a team they played 3 weeks before. Why even play the first time
I hear you. The BCS came about two years too late. Had Nebraska not gotten upset by Texas in the inaugural Big12 Championship game, they would’ve played FSU in the SugarBowl for the National title.

I would include 1991 if Thomas makes that kick against Miami, 1998 if Chris Weinke never got hurt, and even 2000 if Marvin Minnis was eligible for the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma. The biggest what if to me is if Randy Moss hadn’t been kicked off the team and played alongside Peter Warrick. That would’ve been scary. And you’re right about that run from ‘87 to ‘00 with those top five finishes. It was more impressive than say if Alabama was to do it because back then, it was more than just a few teams that were capable of competing for and winning the National championship.

That 2011 LSU vs Alabama game was down right awful. The moment that game ended, the media was already trying to hype up a rematch in the BCS title game. Till this day I still want to know why Alabama was afforded a rematch in the BCS title game, when they already had their chance nonetheless at home against LSU and lost? That should’ve been Oklahoma State in against LSU in that BCS title game. But five years earlier in 2006, when Michigan went to Ohio State and lost by the same margin that Alabama did to LSU in 2011, no one hyped up a potential rematch with the Buckeyes, and they were left out of the BCS title game. So what was the difference, and why were the Wolverines left out?

God Troy Smith to this day still has one of the ugliest throwing motions ever. Also man is it great to see under center and just how much they ran the ball and used the triple option or the Iformation and also seeing how different conferences were. Like Nebraska and Arkansas.
I miss the Big East football as well, it really added an extra element to things. It would be nice if they ever could bring it back but it feels highly unlikely with all of the alignments on conferences now. Missouri and Texas A&M aren’t even SEC teams in my opinion, just from a geographical standpoint alone.
