- A compilation of College Football moments and games that cost the losing a team a spot in the Playoff. Without these losses, there is chance that these teams could have made the College Football Playoff, but with the loss, they were completely eliminated. Keep in mind this video only spans from 2014-2020 since the CFP has only existed since 2014. This is the second part of the series, so make sure to check out the first video if you have not already (link below). Let me know any games that you believe should have been included. Hope you guys have enjoyed! If you are wondering why I didn’t include 2014 TCU vs Baylor, it is because at the time we didn’t think TCU was eliminated. Even though it ultimately cost them, the assumption was that if they won out they could still get in the Playoff.
RIP playoffs for me

Ending each other's playoff hopes
As a Gators fan whose best friend is a Dawgs fan, one day a year for 3 1/2 hours, we hate each other.
Line
@Shadow cus we always end up somehow disappoint or lose to Bama
BC fan here after 4-0 BC just fumbled the snap on the 10 against Clemson. Thanks for making me feel so much better yt recommendations
As a texas fan that Oklahoma st loss in 2018, we were having our best season in a while
As an auburn fan, that 2014 loss to A&M was the worst I’ve ever witnessed, they had absolutely no business losing that game, and the team quit after that loss
Don’t worry about it it’s not your fault A&M played in a big game with the result of 41-38. We win those everytime
2014 Auburn and 2020 Florida are both so similar. Both of them were playoff contenders half way through the season, and then completed crapped the bed at the end of the year.
Georgia and Florida costing each other chances each year only to have Bama and LSU crush the other haha
Wish UGA had a decent OC and WRs in 2019😭
@@stephencurry4835 2019 was one of the best uga defenses of all time
@@papersender333 they won us 4-5 games by themselves that year
Not taking anything away from UGA (and I'm an Auburn fan), LSU and Alabamas offense was unstoppable in 2019. Didnt matter how good your defense was
@@warriorofgod2700 While I agree that nothing was stopping those guys, we absolutely stifled everybody else.
I was at the Auburn vs Texas A&M game and it makes me sick thinking about it
Nothing worse than seeing your team lose in person.
Just pain.
@@pschighlights my teams are 1-0 when I go to the game 😤
@LSD are you a Kansas fan?
@LSD maybe you should stop jinxing your teams
Honestly, just make it an 8 team playoff with the power 5 winners getting auto bids plus 3 others. I have way less sympathy for the #9 team who doesn't get in as opposed to the #5 team who just missed out
Why do the P5 get auto bids but G5 teams don’t?
The last 4 years there have been higher ranked G5 teams than P5 conference champs.
@John Cena there should be no auto bids. Best 8 teams
@@collegefootballessential2601 there need to be auto bids because media partners try to negate certain conferences for $$$
@@collegefootballessential2601 yea but then there'd be years with no big 12 or pac 12 and 4 SEC teams + 3 big 10 teams, just a bunch of matchups we've already seen that season and less financial incentive than ever. Ensuring a Pac12 team and a big 12 team AND an ACC team get in along with 1-2 group of 5 teams would be hugely financially incentivized,, would reach a far wider audience and would carry that hope that each team can find a way to upset
This just changed lol
I didn’t appreciate those Coastal players trying to beat me up.

That 2018 OK STATE team made some pretty nice upsets despite the overall disappointing year!
I was 15 and that Auburn v Tamu game was my first SEC game. My friend’s family took me with them cuz they had season tickets at the 50 but her husband was a bama fan and was at the bama game. Absolutely soul crushing but also one of the best experiences of my life. A movie couldn’t have been more gut wrenching.

1:20 The Dantonio years at Michigan State were some of their best ones. That dude could flat out coach and pulled off upsets like crazy
Trevone Boykin was one heck of an athlete during his TCU days. It's just too bad that he couldn't keep out of trouble and ended up derailing his future as a result.
Boone-Pickens stadium is truly a place where playoff dreams come to die
Chris Johnson was QB3. Baylor finished the season on QB5.
This is a great series to do. But I think we’ve all exhausted our efforts to find games where they cost someone a spot at the CFP in this relatively short era
You know I did a pretty good job blocking that Auburn, A&M game out of my brain. Thanks for that
Easily most painful game I’ve been to
Still went to the national championship though
@@Brandoe1 that game in this video was 2014 the season after the natty appearance. So we all had playoff expectations.

Thanks! It feels great to reach this milestone :)
That 2014 A&M vs Auburn game was incredible. Still remember it
This is a great example of the Georgia football experience. Georgia goes into Baton Rouge and gets their ass kicked. 'Bama goes into Baton Rouge and destroys them. Yet when Georgia meets Bama in the SEC Championship it took a late rally led by Jalen Hurts after Tua went out for Bama to win. Because why not?
On a separate note Indiana losing in Columbus definitely hurt their chances but the dagger was when Penix got hurt. Having him gave them a shot in the first place.
Honestly the LSU fan experience is misery misery joy then followed by another five years of misery. You just gotta wait until the championship comes back to New Orleans
As a Kentucky fan I didn't think for a second that we had any chance at the playoff in 2018...
0:53 look at that celebration what a time to be alive
As a UK fan i dont even care we lost, just the fact that we had playoff chances to lose shows that the program has changed.

@@mr16325 Hopin' we can be good this year now that we have a qb. UK vs Georgia could be another top 10 matchup if we upset florida and beat lsu. Yall will whip us but depending on how we do against everyone else i think we could be better this year than we were that year.

I totally love college football rivals straight facts
So in 2015, Baylor snapped a 76 year losing streak against Oklahoma State (11 games in between then). That's impressive
With a 3rd string QB throwing absolute bombs coming off the bench ice cold
@@yungcash667 really that was a 3rd string QB? That's an even worse way to lose
PCP Yes, Seth Russell had neck surgery a couple weeks prior and Stidham broke his ankle in the first quarter of this game.
@@BizInTheFrontPartyInTheBack That's rough. I would hate to have to start a third string because my two starters got injured.
PCP To give you an idea of just how talented we were that year, we went to the Russell Athletic Bowl to play #11 UNC on our third string QB and with our best RB and best WR both out with injuries and we still scored 40-something points and won by double digits
What about Michigan beating Notre Dame in the rain in 2019? They definitely kicked them out of the playoffs.
That TAMU game was a week after Auburns most emotional game that year. Ole Miss. I think they were just so drained from that back and forth game that they couldn’t even snap the ball correctly against A&M. They were so great that year but A&M really sent them downhill for the rest of the season afterwards.
As an Auburn fan this hurts my heart
2:42 love seeing USC lose big 😍
As a Penn State fan, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at how many times we've choked against Ohio State in close games where we had the Buckeyes on the ropes in the Franklin era (2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021).
Now 2022
4:17: We were ranked ahead of Ohio State in the Playoff rankings that week. It was an honor just to be nominated.
You should have done OSU vs TCU 2015. TCU was 8 and Boykin was a heismen candidate and OSU pretty much destroyed his hopes and dreams
I still have ptsd from that game
Teams that had a chance to go to the playoff but couldn't finish the job (part 2):

As a Aggie fan the first clip warms my heart.
Also, that 2014 TCU team was scary good! I still can’t figure out how they got snubbed for the CFP. I feel as though they would’ve matched up well with any of those four contenders. Exhibit A: The 42-3 beat down vs. #9 Ole Piss.
Bowl game is too little, too late. Plus you have a month to prep for the game. Came down to not being able to clearly separate the two, so they looked at what happened when they played each other.
? the number 4 team won it all that year lol wdym
big 12 was dumb and didnt have a championship game
Great video keep it up.
that 2017 notre dame usc game was an absolute beat down
Wow a part 2!
I don’t think BYU would have went to the playoff even if they won that game. It still stings us though because we were fighting for a New Year’s Day bowl game.
2:23 steve harvey casually takes ball
I can’t wait for the 12 team playoff and the home field for round 1 WAR EAGLE but damn Oklahoma state was half an inch from the playoff half year that sucks

OklaState - Iowa State 2011. OSU just needed to win being #2. Iowa state upset them. Great game you should do.
There are enough for a 3Rd video.
Was probably the saddest day Ive had as a poke. Same day that the head and assistant women’s basketball coach died in a plane crash
Kentucky being #9 is the wildest part of this video
#9 Indiana, #8 Northwestern…dang 2020 was a trip
8:08 didn’t even remember NW being #8
ONCE AGAIN FOR USING MY IDEA 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Let’s be honest. That Indiana-OSU game was a sham in the long run because Indiana fulfilled the B1G’s initial rule that the BTCG division rep had to have played 6+ games. The B1G just couldn’t stand the idea of not being represented in the CFP and changed their own rule to let OSU be the division rep. Shady af…
And yes, I do believe IU would’ve gotten curb stomped in the CFP had they gotten past Northwestern, but don’t make it obvious that you’re trying to screw someone out of a well-deserved spot.
100 percent this. And it wasn't just IU that got screwed, it was Iowa too. They technically should have won their division but also gave it to NW on a rule-bending technicality [it was like strength of schedule or some crap like that, even though Iowa beat them head-to-head]. Now I like Northwestern and I'm not fond of Iowa, but even I know shady when I see it. I felt bad for both IU and Iowa. But the B1G clearly showed they cater to the big boys, it doesn't matter about win-loss record anymore. On a side note, I couldn't help but notice that Oregon seems to really kill the Pac-12's playoff chances A LOT.
I was really really hoping that Northwestern game against Mich St wasn't going to be here. Pain. We're never ever relevant, no matter how good we look nobody in our fanbase even considers Playoffs going into a season. The one time, the ONE time our team looks like it might at least warrant being in the conversation and we lose to a 1-3 Mich St. team. Absolutely brutal, but also pretty much on-brand for NU.
Funny how ALL of these teams LOST a game to get out of the playoffs, but now you can go undefeated and it doesn't matter
Damn TCU was breaking hearts
Video idea: College Football “almost upsets” like when a team gets very close to upsetting a high ranked team. Ex: JSU vs Auburn 2015, Literally any game of Clemson vs and ACC rival

2019 UGA LSU was a hard one to watch. Coach O obviously took it easy on my dawgs too, could have/should have been way worse.
7:50 what a wacky season 2020 was . Northwestern and Indiana ranked in the top 10
That Auburn game looked like some point shaving. Those turnovers looked suspect.

I remember that Auburn TAMU game that was tough.
Alabama was #1 and they won, was LSU surprised or something?
2:45, Texas lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Title Game later that season, so this game didn't really matter
1:00 an idea for a game if you look at the score board FAU nearly beat Florida (who was #8) in Gainesville
Yep I’ve been looking for that game, will definitely upload if I ever find it
@PSC Highlights, good luck. I haven’t been able to find footage of that game anywhere. Although as a Gators fan, I’d like to forget it ever happened
This year it was most definitely Utah v Oregon in Salt Lake CIty when Oregon was ranked 3
And Baylor Oklahoma st
USC getting massacred by ND. That was my favorite
Should’ve put 2014 WVU beating Baylor. That Baylor squad was so elite. Sic em bears
So many amazing teams have been kept from the playoffs because of a sudden collapse. Really sad to see, their own conference teams taking them out lol, everyone in the SEC seems to just lay down and let Bama go undefeated😂😂
Name a college team that has consistently beat Alabama in the past decade. Auburn did it more than anyone, and it was not consistent. Barring an NFL team rejoining the ranks of college ball (and even then i wonder) Bama has a shot at going undefeated year in and year out. No such thing as a rebuild year in Tuscaloosa. Closest thing you have to that is Clemson. Gotta give credit where credit is due, and this is coming from an Auburn fan.
@@warriorofgod2700 I'm not taking away credit from Bama. They are absolutely stacked year to year. But teams legitimately seem to fear them whereas I don't hear anyone talking that way about Clemson or Ohio State who are just as stacked in talent year to year. UGA always plays scared. Ole Miss and Auburn seem to be the only teams to actually have the mindset that they can beat Bama. I'm a UGA fan and even I caj admit Kirby does not bring the thunder for four quarters against them. It's a shame a team like Ole Mies with half the talent puts up a better fight. I mean even LSU I'll give credit to because if they had All-SEC caliber QBs for the entire decade they probably would have beaten Bama 6 out of 10 times
@@MrScotty2Hotty28 i feel the reason no one talks about clemson the way they do about bama is the SEC has been much stronger than the ACC. The issue i see is the ACC has clemson year in and out, but thats honestly about it. The SEC has 2 to 3 teams in each division that can run the table. That, and bama has Nick Saban. If the coaches were reversed (dabo at bama and saban at clemson) i feel we be talking about clemson more than bama
Me slightly resenting your page for opening a wound that I patched up means you did your job in this post.
miami-ND game still haunts me😔

What I learned from these 2 videos you don't want to be leading the big ten
Missed utah vs oregon in pac 12 championship 2019. Utah was ranked 5. and got run out of the building.
Old skool football
can you do "best dives for a touchdown?"
I guess these videos are short lived. When we go to a 12 team playoff, everyone is going to get in. You'll see a 3 or 4 loss PAC-12 champion get a playoff spot. Ooof.
That will be better than the bs beauty pageant we currently have......
College Football 'Beginning of the End' moments? I.E. games that marked the start of a low period for a team
Neat idea. I think a good example is the Clemson touchdown run against Florida State in this video. In my opinion that was a bonafide “passing of the torch” moment in the ACC.
Deandre Francois’s injury against Alabama would be one! They haven’t been the same since.
Rewatching this made me think to suggest the following idea: “why are you in the playoff?” Title it “you don’t belong in the college football playoff” moments
Case in point being Ohio State 31-0 defeat to Clemson as whole, though specific plays would be more of a focus.
Such a play is Brendan Radley-Hiles’ cheap shot on Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2019 that got him ejected for targeting.
Other plays/games for this are:
2015 MSU vs Alabama
2014 Florida State vs Oregon (two players blocked each other even though the play resulted in a TD)
Tua Tagovailoa sacked on Alabama’s first offensive play in OT (obviously Alabama won, but the play itself was really stupid)
Ohio State put a linebacker on Devonta Smith (Ohio State vs Alabama 2021, this is the TD that made the score 35-17)
Jerry Tillery roughing the passer on Trevor Lawrence (2018 Notre dame vs Clemson)
Oklahoma kicks the FG instead of going for it on 4th and 1 on the second overtime possession (2018 rose bowl UGA vs OKLA)
Cardale Jones passes on first down when Alabama has just two timeouts left (2015 sugar bowl, this is with about 2 minutes to go in the game)
Jameis Winston epic fumble (4th and 5 during the 3rd quarter 2015 rose bowl, just after FSU took their second timeout of the half)
Alabama false start on 4th and 1 (on Damien Harris, Saban throws headset)
2019 title game Clemson vs Alabama Tee Higgins is casual with the ball on the touchdown (this made it 44-16) even though the call of TD was upheld
Ezekiel Elliott’s pads come loose during a long run (first quarter vs Alabama 2015 sugar bowl)
You should have included the CCG wins (or last game of the season) for all of the undefeated G5 teams.
I see a few👎, sorry for your loss
Can you do “There goes your BCS chances”?
The first one hurt bad
College football giveth, college football taketh away.

If you do another video, you should include Arizona State vs Oregon State 2014
I am once again asking for #6 Wisconsin vs. Illinois in 2019.
lol doubt! Wisconsin definitely still would’ve made it to the playoffs had they won out despite the loss
