I couldn't agree with you more. However, in my humble opinion, not only does Huey sound just as great as the studio version, but the live performances seem to be a little more special to me. Cheers and happy listening! :-)
Hate to sound cynical, but......I wouldn’t be surprised if this was “tinkered” with a little bit during the mixing down process. Not a slight against Huey Lewis by any means, but a LOT of bands did, and still do, “touch up” bum notes and flat vocal parts. There’s one thing I noticed with this one, listen to the crowd, they’ve piped in extra cheers at certain points.
they were great , no doubt about it , thats why im here listening, but probably the sound was fixed and mixed to correct the little imperfections that always exists playing live
Years ago I listened to a radio interview with Huey Lewis who said: "The most important thing for a singer is to make people believe what you're singing. Make them believe it." This is a perfect example where the song itself is nice, it's OK but he elevates the song with his emotion and incredible voice control. This is not an easy song to sing in which "to make people believe it," nor is it that easy technically. He is a brilliant singer and it shows quite well in this video.
Awesome...perfect performance! Harmonies, instrumentals, lead vocals!! Everything!! That could have been recorded and released as the single. If it were an event in the Olympics it would have gotten a 10 !
One of those rare bands that sounds just as good live as their records, sometimes even better. Absolutely love these guys. Im only 35, but this is the music i grew up with and will forever prefer this over the crap thats on the airways now.
Being a kid who was born in 97... I find music like this... Amazing! There’s just something about the vibe and the musicianship that makes me fall in love with it! I grew up around a lot of (what kids would call it now) old music. It sucks that we don’t have artists, musicians and people like this now to make this kind of music. Great fun to have videos like these to watch!! Thank you!
i saw Huey live 10 years before you were born in 1987 in Philadelphia .... ugh.... i am old and hitting 49 tomorrow.... i guess that I was about 14 in 1987! Great that you enjoy the old stuff! Enjoy! :)
This was the second band that I really got into, Buddy Holly & The Crickets being the first. Huey and the boys have always been a top shelf class act band. I'm glad to see people, especially my age and younger, find a new appreciation for this band. Much love to all the Huey fans out there in the world! :-)
One more comment I'd like to make. I was a junior in high school in 1987 and still see my beautiful smiling mother with her huge hair do waiting for me with a smile every single day when I got home from school. I still see her dancing around the house to songs like this.
Rick Delair the organ break is very fun to play!! Tricky at first, but a blast. The entire song is joyful to play on the organ. I play it on a Wurlitzer.
Rick Delair I have a Wurlitzer funmaker, the older one without the recording box. It was given to me, I also have a George P. Bent Crown Organ from sometime before 1914. It has the pump pedals to pump air into it. Also have a PlayStation midi controller for my piano and synth sounds, or any sound I want for that matter.
My family lived in Novato in Marin County when Huey Lewis and the News were our homegrown group. Johnny Colla's family lived near us in Novato and his Mother was a music teacher in the schools.
I met him in Vegas over 20 years. I was a big fan at that time. Anyways, I’m was Impaired and I said to him “could this it?” one of my favorite songs he sang. He looked at me in confusion and finally he realized my attempt at comedy. We both laughed and he went his way.
These old songs are the only thing that brings any kind of relief to my mind, I guess when I get ready to eat a bullet I will have something like this playing in the background
Huey and his boys at their very BEST!!! I wonder how many people know that Huey very often sang on stage as he is doing here - just INCHES from the stage's end! He obviously always wanted to get as close as he could to all his fans.....even at his own risk!! Do fans also know that most all of his fabulous band members who started with him - stayed with him, all these years!! His most outstanding keyboard player and drummer - always keeping that fantastic sound and terrific 'beat' to all their hit numbers, year after year!! That really says something - doesn't it? And most noteworthy as well - it's no wonder that HIS fabulous music and writing was chosen above all the rest - to 'power up' the greatest sci-fi blockbuster hit film of all time - 'Back to the Future'!!! That really says something about the 'power' of his music!!! WOW!!! "THANKS so much for all you've given us, Huey"!!!
I grew up in the 90s but still remember hearing stuck with you on the radio and I do got to say the live performance sounds exactly like the performance on the actual record. Love the male harmonies on this song. The band was real tight here, maybe because they played live all through their 20's and didn't become mainstream successful until their mid to late 30's, so it worked to their advantage because by that time they were a great live band?
Now i know what my Dad meant when he was listening to the Beatles and Stones over and over in the 90's lol He said to me i would understand when i got older. And NOW I DO! :) This is awesome! Along with A-ha :)
Yeah...80´s and mid 90´s. Good times. Musically sweet and understandable. They created good music and lyrics. Miss those times. This weekend, here where i live, there´s a "Stuck in the 80´s" party. It´s going to be a huge event.
They could tell me I was dying tomorrow---and if I heard this song right afterwards it would put a big smile on my face, a spring in my step, and a carefree feeling in my heart!!
*STUCK WITH YOU* We've had some fun Yes, we've had our ups and downs Been down that rocky road But here we are still around We thought about someone else But neither one took the bait We thought about breaking up Now we know it's much too late We are bound by all the rest Like the same phone number All the same friends And the same address ...... *Yes, it's true* ( yes it's true) *I am happy to be stuck with you* *Yes, it's true* (yes it's true) *I'm so happy to be stuck with you * *'Cause I can see* (I can see) *That you're happy to be stuck with me * 🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹 We've had our doubts We never took them seriously And we've had our ins and outs But that's the way it's supposed to be We thought about giving up (giving up) But we could never stay away We thought about breaking up But now we know it's much too late And it's no great mystery If we change our minds Eventually ..... Ah, it's one thing listening to this on RUclips (which is great off course), but listening to tunes like this back in the golden ages, kids, you've missed out.
OMG... Listening this... I can remember so clearly; when I arrived for the first time to United States of America!!!... with my heart running to thousand!!!... Huey looked like the kind of singer that could blow away and audience and then work on his car and fix anything in the house...,mans man
Jk
😆
I saw him many times, including this concert. You're right, a man's man and nice as hell.
Unlike Daisy Lee Roth
Definitely a blue-collar Huey! 🤙🏾
When there was no auto-tune. Huey sounds the exactly same in studio and on stage!
Same can be said for the great musicians and backing vocals.
I couldn't agree with you more. However, in my humble opinion, not only does Huey sound just as great as the studio version, but the live performances seem to be a little more special to me. Cheers and happy listening! :-)

These are people that take their job of entertaining the fans very seriously.
This band needs to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame NOW!
They'll get in eventually....just a ton of political red to get in these days.
Coincido, de las más grandes del siglo!!!!
What a performance!! No lip syncing, no pre recorded tracks and no damn auto tune. Just pure talent!
One of the very rare few people who sound the same live, as they would in studio, if not then better.
Thom Yorke is also one of them.
Years ago I listened to a radio interview with Huey Lewis who said: "The most important thing for a singer is to make people believe what you're singing. Make them believe it." Man if I had a voice like Huey I’d just be walkin’ around singing all day!
This is music. Pure music.
Thrill Biscuit 🌎❤🎶🎶
Huey Lewis got one of the best voices, if not the best one ever. The band was excellent indeed.
can't stop listening to this song ,,damn!! so addicting!! a really feel good song
Same😊
Yo también ❤️
I agree!!
Yes, indeed
Chris, Johnny, Bill, and Sean could all freakin' SING. Their harmonies are awesome.
Awesome...perfect performance! Harmonies, instrumentals, lead vocals!! Everything!! That could have been recorded and released as the single. If it were an event in the Olympics it would have gotten a 10 !

Im only 35, but this is the music i grew up with and will forever prefer this over the crap thats on the airways now.
This version is incredible, I wouldn't expect anything less with them. They sure don't make them like they use to
Rukmanidevj
miss you 80’s 🙈
Undeniably one of the coolest Rock voices of all time. I hope he can fix whats wrong with his hearing like AcDc singer did and can now tour again.

Me too my friend
I grew up in the 80's. Wow!!! When I hear music like this from my childhood, it makes me realize how great that time was...and how much I miss it :'(
Lets not forget the superb backing vocals and incredible talent from The News.... Dynamite live act.... Wish I got to see this 👊🏼💥💙
Yes the background vocals really make the songs in my opinion. Especially in this, “Perfect World” and (my favorite) “If This Is It”.
Alguém do Brasil ouvindo em 2020/2021????

OUTSTANDING
No cansa uno de escuchar estos buenos temas buenos artirtas🙂
I really wish I could have seen him in concert. This is my child's and my favorite song.
I love this song, particularly the backing vocals and the organ break. Fantastic.
Rick Delair yeah it's a blast to play and if you do it right, can make it sound just like a Hammond
what a great song, what a great time
Qué encanto se hombre!!!!!!👍🙌👏💖💖💖💖💖😘🤩🥰😍
Linda melodia 2021 Brasil músicas 80 e 90😎👏👏👏👏
Damn that ‘bridge’ part leading to the chorus is badass! Really sets up the chorus, really really well. “And it’s no great mystery... yes it’s true”
Bienvenido a los 80 los que esten compartiendo este lindo temazo....
Bill and Mario carry this so effortlessly
My family lived in Novato in Marin County when Huey Lewis and the News were our homegrown group. Johnny Colla's family lived near us in Novato and his Mother was a music teacher in the schools.
Una canzone che vale la pena di ascoltare…. Grazie Lewis
Amo esta canción..
Cuando, lo q sentías lo decías con una canción
I'm 20 too. It's funny how a lot of people our age are getting into music that's been around when we were born. It's good stuff!
Uma bela canção com arranjo magnífico. Um ótimo cantor e ator! Show
Lo mejor!!! Mi vida en el colegio secundario eso fue y será por siempre
Me and my hubby's theme song 🎵 ♥️..... great 👍 singer
Linda musica perfeita saudades dos anos 80 e 90 saudades
Kinda sad I’ll never be able to be there, grateful I can listen whenever.
Como no adorar a este grupo, con esta sencillez en el vestuario y en su voz que nos gana el corazón y nos hierve la sangre.
Amazing man , truly amazing. Nothing like a Huey Lewis and the news song. Thumbs up to that. 👍
Espero algún día poder asistir a un concierto del Sr. Huey.
Julio 2021 escuchando a los pocos grandes musicos que quedan!!!
I met him in Vegas over 20 years. I was a big fan at that time. Anyways, I’m was Impaired and I said to him “could this it?” one of my favorite songs he sang. He looked at me in confusion and finally he realized my attempt at comedy. We both laughed and he went his way.
Wooow this is still smazing to my ears
Yes, it is true ... I am so happy to be stuck with this music more than 40 years ago....
These old songs are the only thing that brings any kind of relief to my mind, I guess when I get ready to eat a bullet I will have something like this playing in the background
Iconic voice!!!!

This is a super tight band, reminds me of Eddie Moneys band.
It brings back my college life memory .... used to listen to this song on the radio while burning the midnight oil
Fantastic memories from my teenage when listening to this song..Love, hunting, friendship and unanswered love
Now i know what my Dad meant when he was listening to the Beatles and Stones over and over in the 90's lol
He said to me i would understand when i got older. And NOW I DO! :)

The News are the Shizzle..... Proper tight backline with solid vocals and Huey is the icing on that musical cake.
What an absolute Geeeeeeeeza 👊🏼
Great song Huey!!! Good memories from the awsome 80’s
This is absolutely brilliant- love the way Huey encourages the audience to sing "yes it's true" at the beginning of every chorus.
Huey lewis clasico por siempre genia para escucharlo todo el dia
Amazing talent! No BS. Just talent. Wow.
They could tell me I was dying tomorrow---and if I heard this song right afterwards it would put a big smile on my face, a spring in my step, and a carefree feeling in my heart!!

*STUCK WITH YOU*
We've had some fun
Yes, we've had our ups and downs
Been down that rocky road
But here we are still around
We thought about someone else
But neither one took the bait
We thought about breaking up
Now we know it's much too late
We are bound by all the rest
Like the same phone number
All the same friends
And the same address
......
*Yes, it's true* ( yes it's true)
*I am happy to be stuck with you*
*Yes, it's true* (yes it's true)
*I'm so happy to be stuck with you
*
*'Cause I can see* (I can see)
*That you're happy to be stuck with me
*
🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹
We've had our doubts
We never took them seriously
And we've had our ins and outs
But that's the way it's supposed to be
We thought about giving up (giving up)
But we could never stay away
We thought about breaking up
But now we know it's much too late
And it's no great mystery
If we change our minds
Eventually
.....
It's back to you and me
[Chorus]
*Yes, it's true* (yes, it's true)
*I am happy to be stuck with you
*
* Yes, it's true* (yes, it's true)
*I'm so happy to be stuck with you
*
*'Cause I can see* (I can see)
*That you're happy to be stuck with me
*
[Organ solo]🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹
We are bound by all the rest
Like the same phone number
All the same friends
And the same address.....
[Repeat Chorus]
*Yes, it's true* (yes, it's true)
*I am happy to be stuck with you

amazing live performance, his voice is top notch.
One of the most underrated pop songs ever... Hooks all over it... Huey had a great range too..... Never to be repeated.....

:D ♡ IDEM FRIEND
Saw Huey at the Casino Ball Room, Hampton Beach, NH on June 24th. He was awsum. Loved all his songs and to see them live was the best! An important part of growing up in the 80's.!!! That decade was the best of tunes and will always be. The "STUFF" now adays doesn't even compare. 80's rocks!!!
Huey is a perfectionist and this proves it. Absolutely awesome in every way. I listen to this every night before I go to sleep. Damn sweet dreams. !!!
I used to wonder what this song was all about when I was a kid. Now that I've been married for 15 years (dang, how'd the time go so fast?) I totally understand this song. My wife and I may not always get along, just like in any marriage, but we're totally dedicated to each other. Very happy to be 'stuck' with each other.
I love the organ part in this song!
ADORO ESSE SOM!!!!
Song.
