My Daddy worked for a local catering company when their band came to town. He had the awesome opportunity to meet Huey Lewis. My Dad said that guy was one of the nicest people he'd ever met. Idk. Back in the 80's, music was not complicated, didn't sugar-coat a thing and just plain simply straight up. I'll stop at that.
as a child of the 70's i kinda think that was better music, but i did love the tunes of the 80's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! music anytime is awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How 'bout the Beatles, Stones, Cream, Chuck Berry, BB King, Neil Diamond, Elton John, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, The Guess Who, Chicago, Stevie Wonder, Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton Derek and the Domino's, Little Richard, Steely Dan, Doobie Bros, Grateful Dead, Ted Nugent, Rockpile...you want me to go on? Lenard Skinner, Foreigner, Heart, The Kinks, The Band, Dave Mason, Linda Rhonstandt, Bachman Turner Overdrive, The Outlaws, Queen, Supertramp,...I can keep on going...how old are you anyways? 😮😮
What an amazing band. Chris Hayes is just brilliant. Huey Lewis and the News was always one of my favorite bands ever. They are ageless, their music is so diverse, they will stand the test of time.
We all have our opinions. I saw these cats live and listened to them growing up. They are still my favorite. So into the music and actually playing music on instruments. Get well Huey.
Nah the best player Chris Hayes is whoever disagrees must have their head in a Justin bieber record as they sure dont know what music is. if you hate Chris Hayes, im sorry, but i think you need a new drug
If you've never seen Huey Lewis and the News, you've missed one heck of a show. Probably the best I've ever seen live. (and I've been to a lot of concerts back in the day!)
Better and/or on equal footing, with "Weird Al Yankovic and The Noteworthy Points Of Interest Plus a Vary Of Homemade Drugs n' Cocktails. Partake At Your Own Risk. Do Not Talk To Strangers, Before Partaking. Results, May Bevy.
You could only fit 2 people in the Delorean. If you want to bring more, you would have to make extra trips. Better bring extra plutonium or you may get stuck back there. You can put Biff in the trunk.
They're perhaps the most underrated of the era in terms of pure talent and tightness. Check out the MTV concert from 1982, touring their 2nd album... It's addictive!
Songs like this will be played thousands of years from now, and everyone will say "how old is this masterpiece?! My gosh, did they ever know how to make music back then!"
I was 25 in 80. It was a time of change. The 70s spelled the death of classic rock. U2, Robert palmer, Rush, Journey, The news, Foreigner, Van Halen, Van Hagar, and so many more defined that decade. Louder, bigger and more theatrical with a generally happier tone. Reagan was president, the wars were behind us finally, we thought, hippies were becoming businessesmen. Boomer were buying their first home.
Chris is a great, solid musician. At a time when many of his colleagues were sporting spandex, make-up and volumes of Final Net, Chris was rocking with his good friends - an excellent band with no weird break-ups or drama. I seriously doubt that any of the authors of goofy negative "opinions" posted below have measured up to this type and quantity of success, while remaining a genuinely cool human being, like Chris.
That guy is a monster good player. Walked away to be with his wife and raise the kids. Outstanding human being. Mega talent. The Henricks nods fit right in. How can you not love this guy?
The 80s had some of the greatest music ever and these guys were killers and I am a black guy and loved them and still do and a lot of the cross over music of the 80s what a good time we had I am now retired and A grandfather and I’m 60 years old thank God !!
im 52 in a few days, on Jew Lie 22nd this was my first concert Las Vegas Nevada ( born and raised) Heartbeat of rock and roll Thomas and Mack center 1983
One of the greatest bands ever. All the players were great in their own right, and all the songs they put out were hits. Wish I could have seen them live.
Watching Chris play this intro reminds me of all the times I saw him on stage with the band. Great memories and what a performer. His guitar just drove the sound when you heard the News Live. Whatever your doing Chris, thanks for the guitar pick and kind words at the HOB, long time ago. Hope you still are playing golf and having some fun. Appreciate all the leads I stole from you off the records. take care, Ed
Chris Hays was one of the best players of his generation. He always brought something fresh to the table and his technical prowess is staggering. He remains a massive influence on my own playing.
Chris comes from a very musically gifted family. His older sister is Bonnie Hayes, the composer and recording star, and his brother, Kevin, was the drummer for the Robert Cray Band. I worked with Chris' other brother, Sean, and their other sister, Roseanne, in a real estate development office my brother owned in Carmichael, CA back in 1989. The only funny story I remember that Sean told was about how Chris was cleaning behind his bed one day and found a $65,000 check for a concert, and said "Oh, so that's where that went!" Sean and Roseanne were cool to work with and you could definitely see the family resemblance to Chris.
Ya' think? Epic is more like it. He grew up taking lessons in classical guitar and hating rock. Then a friend of a friend brought them together and Chris found out how many more chicks rock guitarists snag than classical guitarists. Chicks lured him to the dark side.
4:54 You got to have an embartassingly good sense of rhythm to drop to the floor like that and get up right on time to keep singing. You can do that, you sure are an amazing performer.
When I was a young man in my late teens and Huey Lewis first hit the scene I thought he looked like an old man. Today when I see videos of him from back then it now makes ME look like the old man! LMAO
"Individually we're not the greatest musicians, but as a unit, we're a damn good band" H.Lewis. I know the solo wasn't the best thing in the world, so did Huey and the rest of the guys, but it was a pretty good performance nonetheless. They really nailed the song. It sounds the same, if not better, that the studio version.
I loved this band growing up. I remember waiting by the TV in middle school waiting to watch their videos on MTV. Chris was the mastermind behind much of the very popular music that came out of this band. I have heard that he was a Jazz guitarist before joining Huey Lewis and the News.
I'm 51 now and still sing this one. timeless it is, and true as well. I want a new drug, Pot is still the best, I think I will go do a few bong hits and play this again. P>S> thanks for putting this up.
Back in the day when popular bands actually had talent...
We Definitely had some Great Music!
There were many days like that but they're long gone.
Now we have Kanye West and Dr. Dre 😷💩
@@DraganCheGagi Dr. Dre is talented for what he does
@@MrJsfingers
I am talented in farts and had shits of lots of qurics. Using rap or hip-hop and music in the same sentence is an oxyMoron. Thankyou
There are no bad Huey Lewis and the news songs! Want a terrific band!
WTF is this? I’m 20 and never lived during the 80s. For the love of God, what have I missed? Seriously dude? Thanks You Tube
Yeah mate ,80s bands were great
Huey Lewis is one of the greatest.
Back to the future
The 80's music was the best music ever!! Breathe, you'll catch on.

San Francisco Bay area Rock n roll
I should hope so. So much talent.
Chris Hayes = most underated guitar player of the 80's. Thank you Chris for the inspiration!
shut up
Dude can play. He also looks a bit like Emilio Estevez in mom jeans in this video.
maybe worst player of the 80's... share that new drug man lol

Grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. The best two decades for Rock ever, and Huey Lewis was one of the greatest! Man, do I miss those days!
If you've never seen Huey Lewis and the News, you've missed one heck of a show. Probably the best I've ever seen live. (and I've been to a lot of concerts back in the day!)
+MegaZiglet Why aren't you still going to shows?
shut up
MegaZiglet i saw them in Southern California early 80s. Crowd was lile bumps on logs until Tammy and i got them all up off their asses. Great show.
Oh hell yes. Saw them in the 80s. Very slow concert period for the location I lived. Huey came to town. I was blown away.
Everybody hating on The Hayes....The guitar was good...The song was solid.
NONE BETTER!
Yup best of all time
I love the pick scrape by Chris which really opens the song.
I'd give anything to have been at this show. If I had a Delorean, I'd be at this concert now.
Was there awesome show
Roads? :D
You could only fit 2 people in the Delorean. If you want to bring more, you would have to make extra trips. Better bring extra plutonium or you may get stuck back there. You can put Biff in the trunk.
Next best thing, play this song in a DeLorean lol
This is What a LIVE BAND Can do!!! WOW!!!
One of fav 80’s bands ever , these guys ROCK , love it
I remembered they had a great run in the 80's, but had forgot just how great that band could be! Good stuff!
Yes
They're perhaps the most underrated of the era in terms of pure talent and tightness. Check out the MTV concert from 1982, touring their 2nd album... It's addictive!
Great band, I wish I could go back. The 80's were spectacular.

Chris "Fucking" Hayes tearing it up on guitar!!!

That's "Aqua Net" not "Final Net"
Chris Hayes' playing, always loaded with Heart and Soul and Bill Gibson........like a clock.
Bill Gibson and mario cipollina, best drum & bass combo in my opinion. Both absolutely rock solid
Can't forget about Johnny Colla! This band was loaded with musicianship!
@@DizJakeOGAgreed!!!!
Chris Hayes is a highly underrated player imo. Saw them in '91 and it was one of the best most fun shows I've been to.
The 80's looked real fun to be an American
You’re right about that!!!!
Who knew that after so many decades this song was still be DOPE
Back in the 80ies. This was one of the best live concert ever. Lots of talented musicians.
Still Rocking at 73.
I sincerely hope Huey get's his hearing back. What a great performance!
He has hearing aids now and hears fantastic now. It’s from
Playing loud with these amps. I talked to him when he got them and showed him mine😊
Still a great Rockn song today in 2023

True!!!
Saw them in springfield mass in july, never sat down the entire show. Man the beer tasted sweet after the show
80's SF Bay Area, 49ers, Huey Lewis, life was great! Saw them at The Saddle Rack and Mountain Winery
I was there :-) Still can remember it as a great rock event. Love that band!

Saw them in 2015. Sold out a 12,000 seat venue and were just as good as they were in the 80's.
One of the best fun entertainment bands ever. They get the audience singing with them
The pocket is sick. If this don't groove you then nothing will. The drummer and bass in that sweet spot that needs no words
Saw Huey and the News in Greensboro, NC in the mid 80's. Stevie Ray Vaughn opened. Great show!
A guilty pleasure of my 80'... !!
They were absolutely peaking musically live at this period.
I was there, it was an amazing concert.
What a bangin rock song with cracking good fun American delivery
Chris Hayes is a great player!

Huey Lewis has always been fun. I have been listening to them since the very start. Still good fun music
Excellent band, good singer good horns really good guitar play. Most tight band I’ve ever seen

Every member of this band was a boss, from their mastery of their instruments to their moves on stage. So very underrated, even in the 80's.
At least I got to see him while he could still here in the 80's.
I love how the guitarist gives the drummer the beat
The beginning solo is on flames🔥 !!
AC DC style !
@@dhammdeepbhagatddor Steve vai!
I have watched a lot of their live videos and Huey’s vocals are 100% spot on. Always. And love his harmonica playing. Very cool.
He sticks to the same vocal range, I think that's his secret. No high notes unreachable in older age.
this song is the reason i love drugs so much
😅🤣😂🤣😂
So glad I got to see him live in the eighty’s
I really like the sound of the harmonica and saxophone together.
This was so good it was smoking!

... remember all the horns and saxophones...I can't recall any band but Huey's that had it all...and he had a great ass...😊
I didn't know how good of a guitarist he was until I heard the studio version on the radio. Now this. Wow!
Mr Chris Hayes ladies and Gentlemen
GET IT HUEY!!!
Orange guitar, what a treat!
"Individually we're not the greatest musicians, but as a unit, we're a damn good band" H.Lewis.

These guys were at the local club near my house in Frisco. I would go see them every Friday night.
I remember cars in the parking lot blasting huey
I used to have a crush on Chris Hayes (guitarist).
I saw Huey Lewis & The News live on their Sports tour. They were amazing live. They put on a great show. Love this song.
How to install the sports tour. Stevie Ray Vaughan was the opening act on his couldn't stand the weather tour awesome concert

I loved this concert I was there. Pala has great concerts

I loved this band growing up. I remember waiting by the TV in middle school waiting to watch their videos on MTV. Chris was the mastermind behind much of the very popular music that came out of this band. I have heard that he was a Jazz guitarist before joining Huey Lewis and the News.
My first concert was Huey in 86 7 the grade , I'm a metal head, but I love Huey, he rocked.
This is the Chris Hayes Show. He was the star of the show in this video.
Dig the jazz riffs in the opening guitar solo.
I'm 51 now and still sing this one. timeless it is, and true as well. I want a new drug, Pot is still the best, I think I will go do a few bong hits and play this again. P>S> thanks for putting this up.
I always like Mario, just laying back there in the pocket just all chill 😎
This is honestly the best live performance of a song that o have ever seen!
I always liked the guitar player. he can play! nice tone too very cool in his phrasing
Love Chris Hayes...so much fire and flare. Love his playing!!!!! was a big influence...very underrated. He is a very knowledgeable player.
