Someone please tell me why music cant be like this today? See how much fun the audience is having. The Tower of Power horns and Huey and his band are awesome! I wish the 80's music would make a strong comeback and get rid of this crap we have to listen to today...Pure talent at work guys!!
Now THAT is how you play a live show! So many bands can't do sh1t live. The News and Dire Straits were two of my favorite 80's straight ahead rock bands that could really kick ass at show time.
@@tomprosser8958 Unfortunately not anymore - Phil’s health has declined so much that he struggles to sing the songs but still he puts in a lot of effort. Phil is younger than Huey but Huey looks about 30 years younger than Phil
♪♫ This Day in Music: June 30, 1984 - Huey Lewis and the News went to No.1 on the US album chart with 'Sports', which catapulted the band to international fame. The album spawned four top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and a fifth went top 20. ♪♫
I may have grown up in the 90's, but I'm an 80's child as far as music is concerned. This is one of the HOTTEST songs I've ever heard! Long live the 80's!
Total pros. Wow, what a performance. I saw them in December of '86 on the _Fore!_ tour, and it remains one of the best shows I've ever seen. When you respect your audience you come prepared, and these guys always deliver.
Saw them live in January of 1985 in Vegas (my home town). What a class act, and some of the most fun I've ever had at any concert. Great band. Awesome show. Thanks for the memories, Huey and company! ♥
TheManiacOnWheels-- I.m 65 now, by the time this comes around again, I'll be with Huey and the Boys in heaven (hopefully)... I spend most of my days surfing You Tube for all the greats from the 70's n 80's. DAMN ya gotta love the tower of power and his harmonica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was never any better, Billy Gibson on drums, the Tower of Power horn section (both so tight their arses probably squeaked when they walked) and the unbelievable Mr Huey Lewis. CLASSIC!
I saw Huey Lewis in concert twice in Philly (PA) back in 1981 opening for George Thorogood & Rolling Stones and 1982 with Joan Jett, Foreigner & Kinks. Both shows were incredible. I just got total body 'Goosebumps' just remembering those concerts. I can still picture them playing in my mind. I sure do wish I could go back to those good old days of Rock N Roll. ;-)
I've loved this band pretty much my whole life (I'm 28). My mom used to be able to play the VHS of the concert when I was 2-3 yrs. old and I'd be entranced; she STILL has it! I've their "Best Of" CD in my car, within easy reach.
Huey Lewis and The News are going rock the UMB Big Bash at the Midland Theater in Kansas City... and, yes, that would be TONIGHT! The Heart of Rock and Roll will play in the heart of America... TONIGHT! I am not a professional promoter. Just excited to see this come down.
I was 8 when this was released and have fond memories of it. Everything before your born is history. That's the way the sixties and fifties all feel to me something to memorize about and pull out the big hits here and there.
I remember watching these guys open for Heart in 1982 and getting booed by the fans, until the guitarist went on a rampage solo which instantly change the crowds mood and they got a standing ovation at the end.
I was around when it all started with Bill Haley and the Comets but for my money this is the best rock and roll song ever produced . Huey and his band are fabulous especially with The Tower of Power Horns.
Just saw Huey and the News two nights ago at our county fair here in Indiana. Took my kids so they had an understanding of what real music is. Great show, great music, and always getting the crowd involved.
Saw them around 85 at the NEC in Birmingham, they started with this one and everyone was on their feet the entire gig. Amazing live band, up there with any of the greats.
Great and happy day Huey Lewis and The News!!! Wow !!! This is really a amazing and spectacular performance so fantastic breathtaking and exiting and so much love and good vibrations in the air you give the audience absolutely wonderful !!! Well done !!! I love the song and it makes me happy to see and hear it !!! All of you are so good looking hairstyle , clothing and dear Huey you look adorable and glowing in your white elegant jacket you will always look young !!! You sing as always with your whole body and plays the harmonica so intense and amazingly good and how you throw your harmonica and your big jump in the end really impresses me!!! Johnny your solo is also amazingly good !!! All of you are the best !!! The arrangement in the beginning is very artistic with the lights and the stage is also very nice!!! I wish I was there !!! Good luck with everything and take care of each-others !!! A big hug to you my sweetest Huey and to The News also !!! Jeanette Josephson !!!
They were on top of their game in this concert. There wasn't a single dud in the set...this was a kick ass open, and they closed with "Workin' For A Livin'", which kicked even more ass. Their music continues to hold its own today...24 years later, and it's still as fresh as it was then. Huey Lewis and the News FTW.
what the hell happened to music like this ? what went wrong in the 90ties and 2000´s ?? this is amazing talent at work..these days everyone can get fame by having just a computer...and the music SUCKS! ..GEEEEEZZZ we Need Bands like Huey Lewis and the news NOW !
I remember this back in the early 80's, Huey & the News came up with "I wanna a new Drug" then this Hit came along and just Won America's heart. Huey Lewis and the News were the Heart of Rock & Roll at that time and still, this song keeps it going, even now. Thanks for the post!
Can you believe these guys ARE NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Hell, they put rappers in the R&R Hall of Fame before the Doobie Brothers. Huey and The News belong there.
With all due respect to all current past present future acts out there - this is how it’s done. IMHO.
Amen
Totally agree

Live classic rock perfection in this fantastic hit !!! Party on !!!
You know when a song is a classic when it keeps cropping up in movies and used in themes all over television even 20+ years later. B-)
Given the state of current music, I'd say if indeed the heart of rock n roll may still beating but the rest of rock n roll's body is on life support.
You got that right

Love those tower of peer horns
Hue's and and the News were without a doubt one of THE most pre-eminent bands of the 80's and 90's and songs like this one prove it
Lewis rocks! I saw him in concert in Providence back in 1984 - man, he's got some moves.
Great concert...saw it in Little Rock. He got 3 encores and the crowd wanted more!!!
That was Huey Lewis and we just heard the News! The best News ive heard in a long time!
Better than the corona virus

This was a great show. I was about 12 rows back from the stage. I still have the VHS of this one.
I love Huey and the harmonica! Just so awesome!
How many of us can say that our best moments were as magnificent as Huey's?
It just doesn't get any cooler than this........Huey's the boss!
healed up from that right away quick. I'm not from Earth, what can I tell you. Stranger in a strange land--H.R. Heinlin.
We need to bring the Heart of Rock N' roll BACK into this society!

Gotta love the guy with the cigarette in his mouth, he just looks so laid back, lol
This is the way a concert is meant to be. They are really playing, really singing, and putting on a hell of a show.
Wow ! Huey Lewis live is one of the best versions I have heard~~~It sounds like the original~ They really have their stuff together!
Tower of power Horns and Huey. WHAT A MIX!!!

this tune is 10x better with T.O.P Horns. One of the best horns sections ever in my opinion.

I love the way Mario Cipolina used to just stand there and Lurk in the Background. Typical 'old style' Bass Player thing to do :-D.
