Huey lewis and the news...SHOULD BE IN THE HALL OF FAME...PERIOD
And leave out all those rappers? Not gonna happen. The ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame has got to have rappers in it 🤷
At 44 years old I'm just realizing that Huey Lewis has been in the background of my entire life and I didn't know how much I love their music until now
LOL
That's the power of love bro
@@florianhenry6698 nice reference😂
I'm with ya
I'm about to turn 40 and I only realized recently that Rodney Dangerfield has been in the background of my life. I've been using the name "Vinny Boombatz" as far back as I can remember, and I can't remember where I first heard it. So imagine my surprise when I heard Rodney say the name in his act when I was watching it about 6 months ago lol.
Huey's STILL the man!
Power of 80s music shall never fade away.
It's always that sax solo ... :)
America did make some things before it went to shit lol
Puts me is such a great mood . We had some good music .
Facts
Nunca, never!
Rockin' out at 66!! Its January 2024 and still Love me some Huey!!
Same here! 👍
And me too 🕺👏😄
I'm 69
40 here, same!
In my country, it's illegal to dislike this album.
Huey rocked the 80's in a big way. Now at 72 it gets me up out of my rocking chair!!
Released 40 years ago today (04-10-1984) and still a banger!
EASILY ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS OF ALL TIME
True!!!!!
Yes!!! 😁👍
I agree with you 100%!!!
Easy
I saw Huey Lewis and the News nine times in concert, they played this song at each and every one! They wouldn’t be “official” without THIS song.
Had a massive run in the 80s, Hughie and the news never did a bad song.
Huey and his band and their music helped me unwind after a shift on the cancer ward. I was an RN on the oncology unit and after my shift, where so much sadness and heartache took place, I would listen to them in the car on my way home. It was so therapeutic!!!! Thank you to them all.❤️
Nurses are the best people in the world. I found this out during a recent hospital stay.
I have to agree I had the best nurses when I was in the hospital for two months while I'm recovery I been rocking out to the old music that's when they made music good and it's so relaxing it keeps my mind off of the stressful stuff from the doctors
Damn, thank you for doing an often thankless job!
This masterpiece is about to turn 40 years old.
Man I'd almost forgotten how much fun Huey Lewis music is!
Happy 70th Birthday Huey! The Heart of Rock & Roll is still beatin'! 😎
He was about 70 when he released this.
@@HELLH0WND Huey is ageless
The old boy may be barely breathin', but
Happy Birthday Huey! Thanks for all the great music and memories!
@@HELLH0WND Bullshit!! That song came out in 1984 ,,,,, I was there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm 41 now, my brother is 19 months younger than I am. When we were little, we'd run around the house singing this song (or trying to!!😂💕). We called it the "Heartbeat Song!" My brother couldn't say Huey Lewis, so he called him " Hooey Wooey" Omg! Great memories!!
Enjoy your past, it'll NEVER come through again! Enjoy those Good Times! And, Bad Times, it could've been worse!
omg ..lol wooey
How are these guys not in the Hall of Fame yet? Shameful!
wowe
Fuck the hall of fame.... These guys are part of the sound that made the 80s. Without them it wouldn't have been the same.
Being from Cleveland, I really appreciate this song. 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
80's MUSIC NEVER DIES !
how do you kill that which has no life? what if you can't kill it? what if it won't die? hehe ;p
yes!
Exactly! And the chicks were so hot!😎
NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You’re right about that!!!!
Born in 1960 I grew up in the 70's/80's and I think Huey Lewis kicks ass. I love this guy.
Hip hop may think it rules today... Pop may think IT is the commander of the modern crowds... But nothing, I repeat, NOTHING beats Rock and Roll... It's the one genre that will never, EVER fall out of fashion. Mic drop.
This IS 80's P0P
I want this America back.
There is a song from a Band called Moccasin Creek called Old America Back you may like it
Thanks to Huey and the boys for immortalizing Rock & Roll. Released on April 7, 1984, reaching # 6 on June 9.
they were a guaranteed, good time in Detroit
All thanks to sports coming out in 83' too
Only as high as 6?
On June 1984, this song stayed at its peak at #6 for 4 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. It's the second consecutive single in the album Sports to peak at #6 after "I Want A New Drug" and before "If This Is It", both peaked at #6 for 2 weeks. When I compare those 3 #6 hits, this song is the best among the 3 followed by "I Want A New Drug" and "If This Is It".
Most entertaining concert i ever attended. Ive been to over 150 in my life, and Huey Lewis in Denver in 86 was incredible. There was a electrical problem backstage during the show. While they were fixing it, Huey came out and sat down on the edge of the stage and cracked jokes with the audience. Knock knock jokes, family jokes, jokes about the band and life in general. 15,000 people in Denver's MacNichols arena just having the night of their lives being ENTERTAINED by an Entertainer.
Classy ! 😅❤
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band !
These guys were old school,a saxophone solo in every song.
Huey Lewis & The News is such an amazing band, there is literally *NO* song from them I don't like.
I know, right?!
Too true
What about "happy to be stuck with you"?
I like that one too!
Hey, they left off Peter Wolf's "Lights Out" on the soundtrack.
Huey played for our company meeting some years back. He looked way older but he was as fresh and strong from beginning to end of the evening. He played every one of his hits to perfection. Fun stuff. His band was at least half his age.
This whole album has a clear, crisp sound and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that gives the songs on the album a big boost.
I dont get the joke please explain it to me
HEY PAUL!
@@juiceoverflow its an American psycho Reference
Holy shit awesome reference lmaooo
Wtf????? I’m literally watching American psycho for the first time in my life right now…. I’m scared.
Cleveland rocks. You just Huey GO
Happy 71st birthday to Huey Lewis.

Me too. I miss the 80s❣️
Man you said it, I say out loud nearly everyday, I miss the 80's. Especially in light of this world we're living in right now.
Remember when music mattered? Huey Lewis does.
STILL Love Huey Lewis & News Songs 2024 ❤
Imo Huey embodies the 80s completely
I still love this music
Why cant we have music this good now?
There are older artists and/or groups from the 80s still putting out great music in the past decade or so. It just doesn't get played on the radio.
We do, you just listened to it!😎
We do, the heart of rock and roll is still beating
Because there's only one letter difference between Crap and Rap.
cuz most bitches
Still listening in 2024
Since 83 or 4
The Heart of Rock And Roll is, indeed, still beating!
This song has aged really well. I guess that makes it a classic.
Agreed!!!!!
GIVE CREDIT WHERE ITS DUE@@adamdorgant9454

They’re alright
Ha ha ha 🤣
This is the right answer for you people who don't know.,
...., they're okay.
Rhetorical question. Iconic unmistakable voice and timeless music,,,,a question hoping for response. Guess it worked
Man who could forget this song? Huey sure knows how to entertain me. Go Huey!!!
Arguably the best rock & roll single ever recorded.

This dude has a great voice
Agreed!!!
I haven't heard this song in ages! Feels good to hear it again. They don't make music like this anymore. :'(
no doubt Josh
I know Right Josh!!!
I was just thinking the same thing! They don't make music like this anymore
Feel good Rock and Roll
I agree. They need to bring this kind of music back for real.
Just Like The Greg Kihn band says, They Don't Write Em Like That Anymore.
The NEWS are ON IT, music rockin' with HUEY"s voice - always perfecto!
Good music never gets old or dies, it keeps on beatin'. Johnny! We miss you Huey!
Was watching the "We Are the World" documentary on Netflix and saw Huey Lewis. This song instantly popped in my head and... here I am. Feb 2024... and it's STILL a hit!!!
same here! what a voice!
I’ve always loved Huey!
Me acaba de pasar lo mismo, estaba viendo la película película Netflix y dije tengo q escuchar esa canción ya!
I was watching family guy and they talk about this song
Get a damn life. What a loser.
there's no way you can't like this foot tappin', sing- along song...Huey Lewis was the epitome of the heart of rock n' roll... good job, Huey.
Still that rocking roll music from the 80s is driving us wild
The Sports tour was the very first concert that I went to. I was close to the stage and when they started playing I thought "What kind of world am I in" The feeling, the vibe, the energy and the music. Thanks to Huey Lewis and the News for sharing the gift of music!
It's so sad that due to hearing issues, Huey Lewis is no longer able to sing. They were a hit-making machine in their prime.
The maker be praised for reincarnation. We must pray that he will be given priority reincarnation status that he shall be back with us again shortly after he dies.
So many great songs! So many great videos!
This is definitely a signature hit of the 30th anniversary of rock 'n' roll because that genre began back in the mid '50s.
I love listing to all of Huey Lewis and the News songs
It's June 2023, the 70's & 80's had the best music. I'm 74 & still groove'n
Everything Heuy Lewis and the news put out was pretty much a hit. Very good band.
After not playing this song for many years I had to go back and learn it for a gig coming up. WOW, this is a really well written song. Great chord changes and the lyrics really nail what rock and roll is all about! Yeah. I can't say enough about what a great song this is.
Perfect, best comment. thank you for commenting on the songwriting. First time I even know what the lyrics are. I never knew. I heard it in the supermarket, came home and had to watch some videos. Looked up the lyrics. I need to watch and listen again - but it’s 3 AM. And this ain’t New York City! Tomorrow. So yours was the perfect last comment I read tonight. Thanks again! ☺️
Their earlier work was a bit new wave for my taste, but when Sports came out in 83. I really think they committed their own. Commercially and artistically
Hey Paul
Let’s see you get your reservations at dorcys now you fucking bastard
Getting my axe ready...
You sound like a psycho… from America
Lol
Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.
Huh? Are you taking back your compliment?
@@sallymjmj750 It's quoting American Psycho....Christian Bale splits Jared Leto open with a nice and shiny axe after this if I'm not mistaken. Too bad it wasn't real, Blade Runner 2049 could have been just that much better.
@@UberMadSkills Hey, Paul!
Is that a raincoat? Yes it issss!
Sports is an album that's usually not mentioned when it comes to the 80's, but it was a GREAT album. Launched them in to the big time...and their efforts on Back to the Future made them bonafide superstars. And yet, I think this was their best work.
You could say that they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.
American Psycho.
@@Bry.89 about the only time Sports is mentioned
@@SuperSparrow45 hey Paul!
@@SuperSparrow45 He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
These guys ruled the 80's they were always on the radio and kicking out the hits
This was by far my favorite Huey Lewis & The News hit!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!
Same here. This song is the most underrated of theirs. It was a hit but still never talked about..at least I never hear about it.
When I think of Huey Lewis, this is the song that pops in my head.. love 💕 it.

One of the best, as well as one of my favorites, of the 80's. Love Huey Lewis and the News. They always perk me up.

A big big hit in 80's!!! Wonderful song, Thanks Huey !
As a 70's baby, I grew up listening to this. Mom played it in the house, and in the car when I was a kid.
Me too, just a young kid when these songs were on the radio. I always loved the use of the hammond organ cuz i dont remember too many 80's songs that used it as much. Huey made good upbeat music.
You're an *80s baby* We had cool parents & the best childhood❤️

@@scottmurphy3934Holy ?#*$! Huey Lewis is deaf??😱
According to someone who should know, God was very kind to Huey, who hitched and busked his way across europe as a young man.

Yes, Huey has ear issues... looks to be permament.
One of the greatest of ALL TIME!!! Love these guys!!!!!!

Great sound. Huey had his own style.
Huey Lewis remains ridiculously underrated today, just as John Fogerty was for decades.
Amen to that!
I personally like this version because you see all the greats elvis little richard chubby checker.
Agreed
He's my favorite human being, no joke

Off in the distance, unaffected by time and space, I hear that heartbeat just beating on, the Heart of Rock and Roll, IS still beating! Got a nice, steady beat, I can jam with it!
Still loving his music
One of my favorite songs of all time
I met Huey back in the day, & I was featured in the "punk audience" when I was 17 yrs. in this very video.Yeah, that's me dancing in the crowd w/the pink spiky punk rock hair, & leather studded bracelets. Wow! Those were the days! Where did all the good times go? Hahaha!
Gia Genocide?
Damn, you old.
Holy cow how cool I loved this band
Well now your a super star lol
Was Huey Lewis & The News Rockin The Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan in the 1980's?
For quite a while. I knew, “the heart of rock of rock and roll was in Cleveland. “ wasn't sure why it was there? But Huey Lewis and the News made it believable.
Huey came up with the lyric after the band played a concert in Cleveland in 1982. The band liked it but asked him to keep working on the hook. Later Huey changed the last two words to "still beating", but kept the original for the ending. Of course. Huey turned out to be right when they opened the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland a year or two later. Now if only Huey and the guys would be inducted, they've been eligible since 2005!
Thanks for the great information 👍@@DrJekyll38
