Huge thanks to Insta360 for the amazing cameras!! The One R (one inch mod and the 360 mod) are just top notch! Its literally a one stop shop for anything action cam or 360 cam related! Best in the biz for sure! Check em out here, if you love em have as much as we do, you won’t be disappointed! 😎🤙 www.insta360.com/sal/one_r?insrc=INRBALH
Anybody ever built an RC PPG? Using that Insta360 Cam as the FPV, I bet the pilot could see the canopy to judge trim/brake/etc. (I'm sure y'all kno his work, but checkout Tucker Gott for inspiration)
Fab idea but scale would make this problematic: however, change to a WW1 biplane with pilot and rear gunner. FPV pilot and FPV the gunner to shoot BB's or paintballs at a rival plane. All larder scale to make life easier to build. :) There are even WW2 carrier aircraft that this would work on if more fuselage volume is needed.
I'd love to see that along with a motion simulator. Might be possible to take the telemetry from a quad flight controller and somehow feed it to something like this: dofreality.com/flight-motion-simulator/
What if they found a way that you could see the controls but not you surroundings just like the camera feed but with the actual physical controls on the feed but in real time
Keep thinking in this direction and you will end up with Reno style air races with obsticles, which would be more, or less what quad pilots are already doing. Since there are thousands of air racing planes to model, this would be a never ending series featuring various designs of aircraft made for speed.
I'm dead serious when I say this; I wish for one second of my life I could feel the OVERWHELMING happiness that Steph(v?)en walks around with 24/7/365. Don't ever lose that buddy, your constant optimism brightens my day every time
Get ya an old video game arcade booth from the 80s, if you can find one. An old doctor friend of mine with too much money from our club back in the 80s built his virtual cockpit with a 19" glass TV and Amateur Radio TV downlink from the plane... It was fun to fly. He was written up in Model Aviation and a Ham mag back around 1989 or so. With todays tech this will be even easier to do again. You just need to find that old sit down video game booth and put curtains on either side to keep it dark in the cockpit. Anyway, really enjoyed this episode, brought back memories and I hope you guys will bring FliteFest back to the Austin area again someday soon. I had fun helping in the build tent with the kiddos.
@ThatGuyCanmanNC Why are you writing in all capital letters? Maybe you have a faulty CAPS Lock button? You should learn to take better care of your stuff.
J London because not being able to read a sentence due to improper typing is not ok, therefore he is upset, and to show his anger he used caps lock so stfu next time
This smells like a DIY 3D print project to me. It would be really great to have plans for this or even .stl files. Also combining this with head tracking would be even more epic!
Head tracking is already possible, but many pilots would need to limit their head movement to get over disorientation issues many tend to suffer from. Quad pilots have to get use to this also since they can easily fly their quad in any direction they want, so the challenge is to get use to the FPV gear and orientation during flight.
Since I was a kid, I have always wanted to see this. I don't follow the channel but these guys are very likeable, I love how much they enjoy doing this. Not just doing it for the views, they really do enjoy it.
All the prototypes of John Overstreet make me drool and want to build ! The Me-262 on the wall is crying out to be my new Sloper for the summer, and the T-28 Trojan fascinates - please do keep us in the loop for the new designs as they come !
If you're still wishing you had feedback from the throttle, i'd recommend adding a 2nd potentiometer to the same throttle, and connect that to a vibrating panel between the chair and your back. Similar to how you would be able to feel an engine wind up and down.

The camera tech alone is amazing, but combine it with RC and WOW. Yeah, this definitely calls for further development on the cockpit. Don’t forget the ejection seat. ;-)
It would be Awesome to see the Roadrunner gas plane brought back to be flown with the new cockpit. The sound of the motor on that thing brings an extra level of realism all by itself.
Man... :'( You guys are doing what I've always wanted to do... I wish this was a sport, maybe "FPPR" (First Person Plane Racing) or "RC-FRL" (Remote Controled - Flight Racing League)... When the day comes, I'd LOVE to fly and race.
I think a 360 video, one you can freely look around with on youtube would be amazing. Like a flying tour of the grounds. Using the RC cockpit on something big and unwieldy would also be fun to see. The helicarrier, flying tank or flying cozy coup.
High viz pain would work in most cases, otherwise you would be talking streamers every two feet or so with high viz construction site tape. Paint would last longer in the sun, but you would need to make sure it wouldn't harm the wire, or coating it likely has.
Guys, that was great! Nice to see you fly together again. I want to do something similar but less stick movement. Thanks to Mattie for turning me on to a hand with my hobby. Working on a quad, the Versa Racer is next, have that frame and a Blur to build after. Was gonna the Versa first but another frame got here just ahead. Be well and stay safe. Oh...Got that Wished ordered I've been bugging you about!
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen. The things we can do in this day and age is incredible. All with just off the shelf stuff. We really are living in the future 😮
Use this technology to recreate the Death Star bomb run having a course that lookes like the valley on the Death Star and drop a powder bomb in the reactor.
Did you guys ever think while making that first RC Video 9 years ago (TaylorCraft) that the hobby would have progressed this far? High Def. First Person View, Flight Stabilizers, Quad Copters, 360 HD Video Onboard Camera recording equipment, unbelievable what has happened in that time-frame. I am now 60 years old but this hobby keeps me feeling like I am 16 again. Keep it up guys!
Literally any of their "mighty mini" series is pretty cheap. Their tiny trainer is super easy to fly and you could easily make one for less than $150 with batteries, chargers and everything.
Wow. What a outside flight, I watched this fligt on my 42" tv. The quality was epic all the video angles brought an amazing experience to me watching. Thank you Flight Test Team.
Definitely need to bring my trailer cockpit out for the next Flite Fest and have some added attractions. Love how Josh is so into flying the Bixler with his setup, I use my Extreme Surfer to give everyone the awesome feel of real type flying. He should try a few faster planes or one of the miniquads with it, totally different adrenaline rush.
I think this is the best video I've seen.. Ever.. I don't know how you Co ordinate the two craft but mega hats off to you all. And definitely you should build a full cockpit. Can't wait to see it. 👍
What's the thing attached to the side of the plane's vertical stabilizer? At first I thought it was a third camera, but it doesn't appear to be one. It seems to be dangling at different angles throughout the flight-is it just some mechanical connecting part that got left on accidentally from another project?
A full motion cockpit the feedback from the model would be awesome, if the model rolls and pitches the cockpit does too, also a helicopter cockpit flying a fpv quad would be wild too
This was fun guys, thank you. I want a cockpit RC set up, that would be the bomb. Now it's time to design indestructible RC planes for dog fighting from a pilot view. I think designing a plane that can survive full speed impact would be one hell of a challenge. Design a plane that is held together by magnets and comes apart but the parts are indestructible. Micro RC with cockpit set up would also be killer.
As the Old Man has said since the beginning You Guys are Awesome. Always such a thrill watching you have so much fun. You continue to make RC dreams come true. Thanks for putting a big smile on me. Love you Guys. ✈😎💗
All I can say, THAT WAS AWESOME!!! Been flying with the insta360 one X for a while now, really happy with it too. Bring us more low level proximity plane flying 🤘🏻

lookup force feedback components.... as you fly you get feedback from the control surfaces like you would in a real plane
try to make the arcenal bird of ace combat 7
360 A-10 Warthog! with airsoft combat!!!!!!!!! that would be soooooo awesome!! you'll get so many views!!!!
Would you guys make a B-17 Flying Fortress and fly it using the RC cockpit with fpv and fpv where turrets are supposed to be
And make bf109’s shoot it with BB gun
That would be insane
i thought the same thing
Fab idea but scale would make this problematic: however, change to a WW1 biplane with pilot and rear gunner. FPV pilot and FPV the gunner to shoot BB's or paintballs at a rival plane. All larder scale to make life easier to build. :)
There are even WW2 carrier aircraft that this would work on if more fuselage volume is needed.
And add fpv missiles that can be flown via fpv from separate pilots for air to air combat or air to land

That needs to be the next addition to the RC Cockpit series!!
Ikr!

Defiantly! Would open up so much more precision, including the ability to glance out each side to fly proper circuits & formation.
Ask Peter for his help!
Redo the fighter plane/tank battles with the fpv cockpit
imagine the tank cockpit!
War thunder in real Life 😂
Or set up some races, like the ones they do with quads.
Keep thinking in this direction and you will end up with Reno style air races with obsticles, which would be more, or less what quad pilots are already doing. Since there are thousands of air racing planes to model, this would be a never ending series featuring various designs of aircraft made for speed.
Ya gotta put a 360 camera for the full experience!
...or add hydraulics to the seat!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Alex's INSANE filming skills with his quad...like that shot at 12:20 :O
yes, with a race quad, it is quite impressive to see a shot like that.
This is so much fun!
Collaboration please
Your A350 with the flight rc cockpit
So what do you say sir?
Rámy rc
In your final build, you need a fan on the dash blowing toward the "pilot". The faster the plane goes, the harder the fan blows!
Yesssss
YES great idea
great idea
Yes!!! And the pilot needs to have a scarf like those old timey fighter pilots from movies, fluttering intensely! 😂
@@nicbarrax76 with f**king smoked crystal glasses and a f**king leather helmet too!!

Add a second seat so you can take passengers! Great video. I was smiling the entire time.
The second seat needs to have tracking so the passenger can look around with the 360.

Love the content!
To improve the imersion a gimbal on camera and head tracking will be amazing.
