Retired F-16 pilot here and I gotta tell you…WOW!! VERY VERY COOL!! Sitting here with a huge smile on my face as I watch this. 👍🏼😊
Edit: I’m also seeing the advantage of having something like this for JTACs on the battlefield. They could provide their own mini-CAS.
Glad to win the approval of a Viper driver😁! I honestly believe this is a very cost effective training platform for anyone that want to get realistic training in basic combat maneuvers and formation flying. Not for system simulation like DCS can provide, but intuitive stick and rudder competency. A fun pastime that trains essential skills. I have fitted reflector sight in the cockpit before, and with munitions could as you said provide mini-CAS. Maybe even something fun for cadets to do: ruclips.net/video/G5nRet-r62s/видео.html
Ps. It’s also possible to have onscreen display of critical air data and attitude ladder like on F-16 HUD.
Me too.. I am not a Pilot, but this is what i'm looking for. 👍🇵🇭
Imagine flying like this with 5G or starlink. Endless range.
@@jimj2683 True. 5G coverage usually coincides with high population density. So this would mean flying over people. Extra precaution and legal consideration must be taken for such endeavors or would put this hobby at risk for public scrutiny. At location like this, there’s practically no cell phone coverage.
@@motionsic Or a hot air balloon base station with a directed antenna that points directly at the aircraft.
This was my childhood dream and imagination, also applies to airliners, sail ship cannon battles, artificial star wars environment and off roading R/Cs, glad to witness someone finally made at least one of 'em into reality!
Me, too. It’s a dream shared by many. Hundreds will be following soon! As I make it a mission to to provide conversion kits so other RC hobbyists can easily do the same! fpvdogfight.com
Litterally all of those are vr games and what hes doing i do in vr in DCS. f16s f18s mirages mig 21s helicopters, XPLANE 11 VR, VRC SIMULATOR AND STAR WARS HAS AN INSANE VR GAME.
I had the same dream and imagination.
Where can I buy the same plane?
Its everyone's 80s- 90s dream as a kid
This dropped a little tear on my eye. I think when we had remote control model plane technology, this has always been the goal. Look how far it has come and what it has allowed us to achieve!
Hear, hear! “Somebody thought of that, someone believed it. Look what it’s done so far…”. ruclips.net/video/jS5fTzMP_mg/видео.html
I started on "control line" planes as a kid. That's where you stand and spin in place as your model plane with a gas engine and no throttle control flies in circles around you. All you do is control the elevator via two strings and hope the plane runs out of gas before you do. We could have never imagined something like FPV could ever exist! So cool.
I remember RC planes on a string ~1975
Yep. 2 gimbal 5 channel transmitter...not to mention hand/eye coordination just went out the window. This is the future of R/C.
@@JoinUsInVR God I remember those! I haven't heard that phrase in a long time!
I’ve made a few FPV planes in my time, but this is actually what we all wanted from the beginning: Great video feed and the ability to look around as of we were really there. That’s great!
Thanks! It is intuitive to use. Feels quite natural to “be”in the the cockpit.
Amazing. Now imagine layering a virtual HUD to fight other vehicles with virtual weapons and other overlays. The future is bright!
Augmented Reality dogfight! I dig it!
Nice Idea... may be in some years it will become Agumented Reality Game
one could do this with a game engine like unreal or unity - if you had access to the telemetry data
@@WOLFPACKED surely
@@WOLFPACKED I agree. There is no technical reason this could not be done with todays hardware and software. Someone's just gotta do it =)
As a both an rc pilot and real life pilot, this js just dope. The view from the headtracker is almost very realistic. Especially the takeoff and landing, the pov reminded me of flying a little cessna back then. Sweet setup you got there
Thanks! I am a low time GA pilot, too. The rental rates in CA are getting outrageous. This is my way of getting some realistic stick and rudder training without breaking the bank😉
Same here...BadASS !! 😎
Where can I buy the same plane?
“Almost very.”
@Vick's Just All the information is in the description under the video!
The video clarity is phenomenal! No lag or buffering, no noise. I'm never going to get out of debt with all this kewl stuff coming out!
Indeed! Flying digital FPV is life changing and addictive😉!
Invent a laser gun. Then you’ll have the money.
As a flight simulator user this has been my dream for years... A universe opens: using a joystick, throttle and pedals (seat is optional, seat with gimball is a plus). Hud with scaled values (altitude, speed, g's and feedback)... the list is unlimited!
A functioning HUD would be wild. But OSD (on screen display) can be just as useful.
Hi: this is very good. And thank you god for no ruining it with music. The native sound is preferred over things that ruin it. Hi: I like yoru vid
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Even the crows agreed at 05:36 that was a great approach.
@@edh2246 Haha. Good one! They are a talkative bunch, smart too!

Yeah 100% agree. Raw audio is the best in those type of videos!
Imagine training new pilots with a little large versions of these.
This is so awesome.
My thoughts exactly! I fly this way instead of renting full size planes. It's much more affordable.
Where can I buy the same plane?
@@premkamandir the plane isn't really the point, but it's listed in the video description. The head-tracking POV system is somewhat DIY, and separate from the plane. What he used is also in the video description.
@@robwoodring9437 thks 😊👍
Not really since the aerodynamics don't scale very well.
This is so cool. Imagine you and your friends form an aerobatic team with them. Air show at your own backyard.
You got it: ruclips.net/video/K86T7vknueQ/видео.html
I guess I wanna be ur sleazy manager then. I imagine small teams of aerobatic rc planes & pilots putting on airshows for corporate events, graduations, birthday parties, weddings, etc... And getting paid!
It's been nearly 15 years, when I first saw someone puttig a - back then shitty - cam coupled with an "headtracker" on an RC Easyjet creating one of the first videos about immersion-flight. It's great to see, how far we've come. This experience made me become an RC pilot. :-) Thank you for your incredibly beautiful video, which inspired me again.
A great time to get back in! Choice abound in Digital FPV systems as well as great advances in performance in EDF jets!
This is the way it should have always been for this hobby. Im glad technology has finally caught up.
FPV instead of standing for “first person view” should have been “fighter pilot view” to get faster/wider acceptance among RC hobbyists.
Very impressive POV resolution and telemetry reception. It certainly would be very interesting for you to post a dedicated video of your POV setup. (edit) Never mind. I see you did one. Very nice 👍😎
This is by far the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life
This is SICK. I love the possibilities this presents and I can't wait what we will come up in a few years. Also, crashing in this must be terrifying lol
Crashing should always be terrifying.
@@GugilusVugilusMagnus it is unless you are trying to cash, and even then its still

Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
As a kid I controlled my plane with a pair wires. Around and around, and that was it. And now I see the new technology available. All I can say is my mind is blown officially 🤯.
It is amazing how far RC tech has advanced. Nowadays, people routinely fly using flight controllers that posses computing power that would have cost millions back when first fly-by-wire fighter came on line in 1980’s.
Best thing I ever seen on an RC. Closest thing to actually flying in the plane your self. Loved this big time. Thank you for sharing.
It would be so cool to have First Person Passenger View. To see what it feels like looking around live as if you were in the plane but not flying it. FPPV.
I do give out head-tracking FPV rides for passengers as I fly line of sight, it’s an eye opening experience for them. And many non-FPV RC flyers converted to FPV flying after the rides.
So freaking cool man !!! Never thought I'd see the day when this was possible
Thanks man! Great time to be alive. Lots of fun!
I've always loved RC fliers but never got into it because if I wanted to fly I wanted to see from this POV. Maybe soon I'll be able to buy one like this. Amazing.
In RC circles this type of flying is called FPV- first person view flying. I prefer to call it “Fighter Pilot View”😁
@@motionsic may I ask how much such a setup costs? I have had a long simmering interest in this sort of thing….
@@davidbennett1357 the head-tracker FPV system is around $1000. Plane cost vary widely depending on model. This one is $650. RC system, charger and batteries would cost another $1000, but can be used for different planes.
@@motionsic thank you for the info…..I would LOVE to own a 1/4 scale F20 tigershark with that sort of setup. I did just watch a video a serbian fellar who was showing off a $75,000 RC jet…..it was quite impressive.
@@davidbennett1357 for those kind of models, they would use a different class of systems then I quoted obviously. And yes the Turbine models are very impressive indeed! Good taste in the F-20 by the way!
I can't even begin to describe how much I love this. Awesome vid...awesome landing too.
I feel like fpv content is so rare. I’ve seen people with very expensive RC planes and always wondered why they wouldn’t put fpv in them unless they are just completely unaware of it.
FPV is a different way of flying RC planes. It’s a equalizer, so to speak. It does not matter how big or expensive the RC plane is, once flying from the cockpit, the view is largely the same. And most RC flyers prefer looking at the planes from outside. And I do both fly cockpit view and line of sight view. Both are very satisfying. I love getting two uses from the same plane!
That is so awesome! It's amazing how far stuff has come.
Thanks, cheers!
This flying session with the sunset in the background was really beautiful.
That was the best on board rc footage ever that seemed so realistic well done pioneer credit to you 👍👊💯
I have been thinking of how cool this idea would be for months. This is an absolutely phenomenal video!
Glad you like it. I also make the kits that make head-tracking easy to implement. Check it out at fpvdogfight.com/
This is the BEST way to fly. Very precise, Congratulations!
You get immersive and you get this! What an absolutely awesome idea. Excellent flying…
This was awesome. Video is so crisp and smooth. Nice work. Flying this jet FPV from cockpit view is the way to go. 👍
Best FPV, that I've ever seen! Thank you!
Wow the tech on these R.C.s are getting so cool. They have come a long way from the model planes with the string controls that we had when I was a kid that only flew in circles and went up and down only. I remember flying them and getting so dizzy. For those who have never seen this type of plane this was in the 1970s 😂
That is soooooooo cool! Takes talent to even fly and land those things too! Man I love it
Thanks man! That’s why I try to perfect landings whenever I fly a new plane before progressing to other maneuvers.

Glad you are taking action!
I'm glad to live in a world when This exact thing exists !!! wonderful.
Wow great flying and the fpv was amazing especially the way you have it rigged up to respond to head movements. Truly amazing
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm retired now flying a civil airline, but I've been flying an F-16 for 15 years. Watching this video reminds me of the past. thanks!
Perhaps you can still fly a RC F-16 from the cockpit as a hobby using head-tracking FPV like we do.

I can only imagine what the military has, hahaha. Very good flying. I'm absolutely blow away.
Thanks for the encouragement! Yeah, the military must be decades ahead…
I had this idea circulating in my head a while back.
First I see people did it with a drone (which was really cool), and now this! Even cooler :)
wow so thats how the world of any jet pilots like, thank you for sharing this, truly the world of fpv is a sight to behold. amazing!
holy moly that's cool. The movement of the cameramount is very smooth
Thanks. Indeed it is smooth since we use special high resolution servos with wide range of motion.
Amazing, you really bring RC flight to a higher level. The moving camera gives a really realistic experience. I started flying at age 12, stopped because I had to finish school 10 years after. That’s 30 years ago, time flies, enjoy!
I took a twenty year hiatus from RC, too for the same reasons. Ventured into full scale some in the mean time. Coming back full circle thinking flying head-tracking FPV in RC plane cockpit combines best attributes of both type of flying. You should give it a try. RC hobby is the only hobby where cost has gone down over time so has the ease to get into it.
These guys make the best pan and tilt mechanism on the market in fact I just bought my second one
Thank you Bob for your continued support and endorsement! Much appreciated!
This is one of the coolest videos I've seen in a long time.
Pretty awesome… that camera clarity is fire 🔥
This is a great Idea, I thought of trying this idea a long time ago. But seeing someone actually doing it makes me proud that this is possible now. Been waiting for someone or myself to try something like this and this is revolutionary for the RC Community. ~ if this actually helps you in the future... Continue making this and then make it a Sport, You'll make a lot of money and using this idea will hopefully bring you good fortune. God bless.
How fascinating! I wish these were available back in the 80/90's!
Never too late, live in the present, no regrets!
That was awesome! Thank you for sharing.
Wicked cool! First time I've seen an FPV setup like this
Thanks! 👍
I'm a pilot and I was blown away by the reality of it. This is a new cost effective way to train fighter pilots that represents middle ground between pure simulation and actual flying. Its a way to safely develop skill but without eliminating all of the risk since the pilot is actually flying an aircraft and can actually crash the vehicle which costs money, but without the risk of physical injury to the pilot. Excellent demo; I am really impressed.
You get the point exactly! With real world consequence for crash and not just a reset button in a sim. Pilots would fly more realistically without taking reckless chances. It is more thrilling to fly and sense of accomplishment enhanced knowing one has flown a physical plane instead of just digital bits.
i absolutly loved this. great flying man and the camera was so amazing.
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen in RUclips!

This is going to change the FPV game for sure. I've never really wanted to do FPV until now. Cool!
Glad you are inspired to give it a try. It is as close to flying full scale as can be, at least visually.
Don't get your expectations up this dude's set up is over $1000 ez. Have you flown fixed wings? These rc guys really make it look ez but they have many years experience and crashes.
Flying fpv with a fixed camera is still fun you don't need head tracking (altho supper cool).
Cheapest way to start is going to coast around $200 depending how you go.
First do you want to fly fixed wing or a quad? Both are fun.
I suggest the aeroscout from horizon. They make a big and small one depending on how much you want to spend.
Then pick up a fpv head set from Amazon around 50~100 eachine makes decent ones for a good price.
They make all in one fpv cameras but I find they burn up ez. For just a few more dollars they sell the camera and module.
Just thinking about it his set up is probably closer to $2000.
This is amazing. Technology continues to blow my mind. I’m sure this kind of setup isn’t cheap.. but I imagine eventually it will be much more accessible and cheaper. I would love to have this one day.
Actually, funny thing, its thanks to mems technology and cell phones that sensors like accelerometers and radio technology has become so cost effective and readily available. Most of the time the hard part is writing the code to operate the system (though you can usually piece together most of it with git hub code). The sensors and radio link stuff is (for the most part) all plug and play with mostly standardized connectors.
I remember when stepper motors and servos were like $20 a pop. Accelerometer ICs were massive, and expensive, if you could find a place that would sell them to a random civilian. This was also back when if you updated your GPS location faster than once every 10 seconds it was assumed you were designing an backyard ICBM....
But yeah man, thanks to the tech explosion of the oughts and teens, I can get a hand full of sensors and motors for what a cheap crappy motor cost me when I was a kid! Of course antennas still seem to be a bit on the pricey side for the fancier designs. But considering the R&D and precision that goes into high frequency high bandwidth antennas and LNAs I suppose it makes sense....
Dude this was so freaking awesome
This is exactly what all RC needed! Badass!
😁Incidentally, that’s what I named the pan & tilt, BadAss Gimbal!
Its the dynamite hidden in the headset that adds to the realism and thrill of landing 😂
I did something similar in my B-25 model, some 15 or more years ago, but without the head turning feature (not available then). Gave me a pilot's view while in light! Made it SO much easier to control in flight without having to remember to reverse my perception when it flew towards me.
Indeed. Now imagine adding high definition visuals and the freedom to look around intuitively as you would driving your car…
Unreal! So freaking cool!
that's about the coolest concept I've seen!
Not just a concept. We have been flying this way for years. Most people just do not know head tracking FPV exists. It allows us to fly formation and dogfights realistically. Loads of fun!
