- Robin Horsfall, former 22 SAS trooper, talks with British Forces News on the difficulties facing the British Special Forces unit in their failed attempt to rescue 2 western hostages from their captors in Nigeria.
This man was part of the 1980, Iranian Embysee rescue, SAS, are the best, I'm American telling you this . Our Navy Seals , here in the US, have and do train with them and vise Versace.
Please go away and learn some English before commenting again...moron
'Iranian Embysee' - embassy
'Vise Versace' - vice versa
This is not a rehearsal . Except in Paris fashion stores 😉. In the same way USMC say " semper fy" and it's semper fi from fidelis. You're right. Culture and Americans are like... Nothing in fact.
Oh shut up you Benedict Arnold!
This man had just passed selection and was on the outside of the embassy as a sniper ( source : Rusty Firmin)

He's a good man !!!!!!
This guy was my Karate instructor 20 years ago in Putney
Currently reading Robin Horsfall`s biography `Fighting scared`-very good.
Thank You! I'm American and I think that the SAS are the best special forces team in the world. Navy SEAL Team 6 is number 2.
jawsh38 U.K SBS joint best alongside SAS. SBS commandos predominantly come from the ranks of the Royal Marines, and already have a solid military background before attempting UKSF selection. After a certain phase they seperate from their SAS counterparts in order to carry out their specialist training in counter terrorist maritime ops.
@MrUSAnumber1 Thank god someone is speaking sense!
bosnia we came under heavt gunfire on mount igman between split and goarzde 25 white trucks told to lay low then somone came on radio saying american fighter jets never seen around 50 people run so fas away from trucks
SAS is the best team.
@athleticguyUK I'm sorry but yes it was SBS and Royal Marines.
A lot of the US's cutting edge military tech actually comes from the UK (BAE Systems). The SAS choose not to use so much tech as they say it makes soldiers lazy and being to reliant on technology can cost you your life, they preffer the basics.
UK troops get the longest toughest training in the world. Our US Marines have just 13 weeks,a British Royal Marine has 32 to 64 weeks. The Brits basic soldiers get more training than our US Marines, basic Brit soldiers get 16 weeks.
Mr_USA yep..Iv told people this before...our forces rely to much on technology and all its advancements..the British try to stick to the basics and are better for it.
How many times have the Americans kicked your British ass?

@ghost234VP Navy SEALS work with the British S.B.S all the time, they are allied Special Forces Naval Units, they are the same thing just diffrent names. Both units work with other countries Special Forces units.
S.A.S,S.B.S,Navy SEALS,Delta Force all work together on joint operations, just like the S.B.S in this video worked with Nigerian Special Forces.
Im glad the Brits are our allies, they know what thier doing.
yeah, ive watched quite a few docs about royal marines so i knew it was around 30 weeks training just to get in,i heard this is where the sbs get most of their men and i think most sas come from our paras,i know you have to be super fit to get in both and be reasonably intelligent, someone told me that u.s. marines outnumber our navy, airforce and army regiments combined so it must be big, also marine recon training looks very hard.
im British mate and to be honest the SAS is regarded as the best because it has the most operational experience of any SF group and because it has written the book on tactics and training procedures. Still, i wouldn't wanna place a bet on who would come out tops between the SAS or any SF group they are all superb and any trooper in any unit knows he is the best, thats why they are special.
RYboy1979 that's because they keep every thing simple and don't get bogged down by tons of fucking KIT !!!
@athleticguyUK and what does it matter either one took part and whichever one it was they are still the greatest special forces regiments on earth
normal reaction...instinctive...
Sean Connery!!!
Pegasus tie bru :) Nice one
@ghost234VP if you even watched the video he kind of said the deed was done before the british SBS even avarived as the local army had set up a area around the house/what ever it was they was in so buy the time the special force arrive they prob all ready dead but at same time i agree with you daring wasnt enogh

what on earth is Vig platoon.
SEAN CONNERY
Incorrect on the final portion.
The soldiers in the SF do not believe themselves to be the best, and they know that they can learn from anyone, and anything. To place yourself above someone else, you would not learn anything from anyone.
Pegasus Tie- airborne as fuck :)
Robin is not sas he got put out of sf and was back up in the embassy
a uk soldier gets around 7 months basic training. the smaller the army the better the training usually. The Norwegians are excellently trained for example
RYboy1979 sas 14 months minimum selection old boy !!
I'm sorry to say but it wasn't even the SAS who conducted the mission it was the SBS and F Company royal marines from the SFSG.
yes mate i agree, the size of a countrys armed forces doesnt have to mean a victory,im not sure at the moment, but at one point there were over 40 countries fighting as isaf in afganistan although some were only contributing in a small way, still there doing a good job.the taliban are fighting with little more than ak47's and RPG'S against the best trained, best equipped armies in the world,im no expert but from what ive seen they arent going away and will never quit, what do you think??
Heihachi Mishima lookalike
Yeah the UK is pushing the arms industry here to try and shift the balance between the private & public sectors. More manufacturing is what we need (the finance in London is nice but not enough on it's own) and the arms industry is out largest industry after the financial one.
The US is our main purchaser. BAE is only the largest arms company due to it's American subs. There's entire US divisions of BAE
yeah, well said, everyone seems to argue whos best, there all good, probably all just as well trained,if anything maybe u.s special forces maybe get more cutting edge kit than our sas/sbs because the u.s spends much more on its military than our small country can afford to spend apart from that no difference, and they do often work together, probably the 2 most closest nations there is.and im glad
sadly,i have to agree with you,i think our government intends to start pulling out next year,i expect the u.s. will be the last out, either way i think the taliban will be back in control eventually which is sad especially for all the families of the guys who have been killed over there,im sure the A.N.A. will try hard but i dont think they will keep the taliban at bay for ever, its a messed up country,i feel sorry for afgans a lot of them have never known peace in their country.
The hostages were killed before the Italian or the sas forces went in.The hostages were being held in kanduna sokoto. It was the Nigerian secret service that fucked it all up.al-quada knew that The Nigerian secret service were going to go in so they killed the hostages.Alot of the forces think one of them took a bribe and tipped of al-quada and there was a 2 hour firefight ....
@ghost234VP It is so easy for you to just type all this ain't it.
It wasnt even the SAS it was the SBS. Everyone get your facts right
The "brains" behind the United States are all British & German. (just to add to the arguement below...)
SAS & SBS are the best special forces.
jordanmorris93 The world doesn't call the SAS when they need the Bin laden compound raided...
Jon Burrows they called no one none called for anyone
This is BFBS, a definition of propoganda.
SEAN CONNERY....ha ha ha lol
Yesh
lawrence tendler
Poirot without the tash!
You muppet the World's largest defence contractor is BAE systems who are British. The British are World leaders in the defence sector every one knows that.....France not so much. You know nothing.
trish the british military want sod all to do with american forces !!!!! i expercienced tat in bosnia
Sorry guys but when there's a problem they call the Americans ! They are tip of the spear . Not some SAS blokes
Its the other way around, the UK is FULL of military arms dealers youd be suprised how many. Thier biggest BAE Systems is worldwide and been buying out other countries military defense companies (theyve bought out some in the US) The US gets much of its tech from UK,Canada and other countries. UK and Switzerland make all the latest tech for special forces in Switzerland.
Both US and UK lead the world in science and mecine etc. The UK makes 37 of the worlds top 100 medcines.
this was the S.B.S remember...not the S.A.S
every time i view a youtube vid about sas/sbs without fail i see many comments from keyboard experts arguing about who are the best, honestly who cares? im british and i know our sf are brilliant but i also know seals, delta force, green berets, nzsas, australian sas and others are awesome too. nobody commenting on here knows exactly what happened in this rescue op, maybe the kidnapers shot the hostages instantly when they realised it was a rescue attempt, therefore no chance of a rescue.
Its not about who has the most soldiers though as History has proven many times over, its how u use and what u do with the soldiers u have. You guys over in the UK are a tiny country that ruled the world taking on world powers sometimes up to 4 world powers at the same time all heavily outnumberd but still won.
US always think because we have more troops and muscle its an instant win, then we invade what we see as a small weak nations then realise we soon need help to finish what we started.
Although my fellow countrymen wont agree with me,Iraq and Afghanistan are another 2 lost Wars for the US. Winning a War means completing your objectives,we simply havent done that and will never stop terror either. Both American wars,do i think if America wasnt calling the shots in both Wars and let other nations call the shots we would of done better? maybe in some ways but i think the outcome would still be the same.
What the fuck would he know? When he was in the SAS (which was short lived), they were re-inventing the wheel.
Oh no, you've revealed their true illuminati allegiance to an unsuspecting world! They had best run off to their secret base on the moon and send elvis back down to placate us with music until it is safe again!!
At last someone who knows what they are talking about lol.
Britain is FULL of Military arms dealers, youd be very suprised how many and they are the worlds 2cnd biggest military exporters in the world (were the biggest in 08 and 09) BAE Systems (their biggest) has divisions in UK,US,Australia,Sweden,Switzerland,Canada all over the world. BAE has been buying out and taking over our US military exporters.
UK and Switzerland make all the latest tech for special forces.
US tech comes from UK,Canada,Sweden,Switzerland etc etc
looks like charlie bronson
Yes it is the British Forces Bull Shit channel, but what's being said is hard to deny
Challenging propaganda is easy for the sceptical, inquiring mind.
I believe I have these merits myself, yet couldn't pick any fundamental objections in Mr Horsefulls argument.
Whether the presenter was objective & unbiased or not doesn't seem relevant here, as we have no expectation for him to be anything but biased in favour of UKSF on this channel.
So despite being a propaganda vehicle, they can be honest
Actors look good, your not a x sas
