Pikmin Bloom - Gameplay & Review - AR!? Special Pikmin!? Expeditions!?

- Pikmin Bloom, the latest mobile app from Niantic and Nintendo, has finally made its way to the App Store, and I've managed to get my hands on it and give it 2 hours of a test drive.
From birthing new Pikmin, to sending them off on expeditions, to discovering secrets to collect, there's plenty to keep you interested in Pikmin Bloom, but is there enough to keep you coming back for more? And can it be the new Pokémon Go?
Join me as I give it a test drive and give my thoughts and opinions at the end.

Also of someone has used the app and walked by you can also see their flowers too i believe. You work together with basically people in your city to cover everything wif flowers. It keeps track of the flowers grown.
Absolutely! Zooming out you can see how much has been covered - it was very sparse when I started out since it had only just been released, but after a few days there's a lot more coverage now!
I totally agree with you. I played Pokémon Go with my son and although we were together, we were on our phone the whole time, so we stopped playing a year or two ago. We started Pikman Bloom and played all weekend, but we walked and talked to each other the whole time. As long as there's something ahead in the game to keep us interested, I enjoy this much more.
This is great! This fixes a bit of a problem I had with pokemon go actually. I feel like they needed a harsher divide between the physical activity I was doing and the game. With pokemon there's always something to miss if your not tied to your phone, and I hate missing things, and I felt that they would bait you too. Much to go way out of your way to get to something that you had a time limit to achieve. Atleast with this simply walking is a great goal. The journal is a nice touch to. Haven't played it as it hasn't released in my territory yet... but I love the concept and I'm itching for more pikmin, I hope this makes pikmin more popular. Also I hope they expand it to include more stiff from the pikmin universe, it sounds too stressful but bulborbs to send pikmin to battle would be fun I don't want competition but the pikmin are colored for a reason and that was part of the resource management of the original. Finding other items other than fruit and making a home base would be nice as well. Some games like magic Street employ home bases so I wonder if they could do something similar? I dunno bit I look forward to seeing how they develop this going forward. Hopefully they have a smoother launch than go. That was a living nightmare. And also... the nice thing about this is that it's not like your looking for noticeably rare pokemon, so hopefully you won't have horror stories where people trample parks to an unusable state.
Absolutely 100% with this - I’ve gone another day with it today, and it’s been a nice reminder to open the app, rather than feeling like I’m obligated to keep it constantly watched. The Pikmin universe has such a huge and varied scope of creatures, it would be a shame to not include them, so I’m hoping they’ll be added at a later date - I can see them being implemented in the form of expeditions, so you aren’t actively battling them, but instead send groups of Pikmin off together - type matchups mean less to send/quicker to return/etc - and so the push there would be to do more walking to increase your numbers, instead of grinding with stat increases and such. And for sure - I’ve gained another special Pikmin today just for levelling up - and it’s nice that it’s not location based, you already have it - you just gotta keep walking!
Hoping they add some kind of battling you can do with your pikmin or something. Its nice insentive for a bit to get me walking, but im sure the novelty will wear off quickly. Im a huge pikmin fan, so anything to keep me playing I will absolutely adore.
For sure! I can see them adding a light battle system in later levels, perhaps sending the Pikmin off in expeditions to take down creatures - Pikmin has such a wide cast of monsters, it’d be a shame to not show them off!
Actually I think there is something like a raid where you try to destroy a big mushroom in time.
It would be cool to be able to battle some mobs or something. What’s keeping me “playing” so far is leveling up, and of course going for a daily walk.

Maybe against bulborbs? But maybe after leveling up because if you have only 2 pikmin at the beginning youre gonna get a hard time
I like that it's casual. Part of the reason why I stopped playing wizards unite was there was too much to do and I couldn't play wizards and pogo and had to ultimately choose pogo in the end. With this game I could play both at the same time without any game play lost on either game
Great video! I totally agree with you! I received an e-mail notification from my Nintendo account sharing about this app. I had no idea about it before this. I downloaded it and started the adventure. Today I have walked as never before around my neighborhood to make sure to plant flowers everywhere 😅. There is still not much people playing it here but hope people start knowing about it and join the relaxing adventure of flowering the world. Greetings from Chihuahua, Mexico!
can’t wait till it’s available worldwide, that’s what I need. Pokemon Go is too time consuming to “maximize on everything “.
Absolutely - I loved Pokémon Go, but eventually lost interest because it was a bit overwhelming to have to try and be the best in everything - kind of pushed out the casual players

The difference between pokemon go and Pikmin bloom is that with Pokemon go the PokeCoins you can get 50 per day with Pikmin bloom it's very hard to grab something from the store unless you want to pay for getting things like seedlings which is a daunting task. If you feed your most color army the easier it is to fight mushroom battles.
I’ve wanted Pikmin since I was a kid. I have never had any version on any platform, and finally I can have it on my phone. I am thrilled!
I've been confused why people seem to think that they shouldn't be going outside during the pandemic. Outside is the best place to be! Not only are you getting healthier by moving around and getting fresh air, but the virus really can't spread easily outside. It's being inside that's dangerous. Which is why the governments in the places I've been living encouraged people to go for walks and do other kinds of outdoor activities with their bubbles.
Thanks for the review! I installed it the other day but got out today to actually use it. I was a little lost on what to do so thanks for the overview. I'll be less worried about trying to throw my pikmin at monsters now. Though, in the future, I hope they add something like that.
Man they could have made it so much more awesome. Like gyms could be monster locations that all your pikmin csnt attack and then they can carry them back to you to make more seedlings. And fruit should be put out randomly in the world so you csn use your pikmin to pick them up. Just so much they could have done...

When I'm on my E-bike, planting stop working because max speed is around 20 km/h. Hope they make it a little higher.

They do! They grow back after a few hours - I’m gonna make a video one week after this with updates ☺️

The connection is to your Nintendo Account, the one you would’ve made for use with the Switch - only have to log in and off you go! It just helps keep everything connected!

Only speaking as an iPhone user - do you have your health app setup?
If you are android user you need to install google fit to sync your steps. Anyways in my place im the only one having this game and im so happy seing all the flowers bloom around my area.

So, after 3 days of play, I've only gained 1 coin - it'll definitely be a long process to get more! I'm gonna make a video after a week of play - will see how many more coins I get before then!

I can see in later updates it being added, maybe in the form of expeditions where you don’t actively participate, but just send a large group away to attack and bring back on their own
In Germany its really sad almost absolutly no one plays pokemon go or pikmin bloom but it depends on where you live.But in the place where i live i still dont see flowers of other people or met people who play pokemon go its just really Boring

My only issue with this game is that it kills my phone in about an hour which is pretty awful.
