  • Group A support race from the 1986 Australian Grand Prix.
    This race also doubled as Round 2 of the South Pacific Touring Car Championship.

    Great stuff. 2 things I will never understand about that era:
    1/ Why did Brock stay with his engine builder for year after year when clearly he was always 20 to 30hp down against other Commodores, obviously Grice's Les Small engines?
    2/ I imagine the Skyline would have won much more if it had a rear spoiler. It was always very fast, but clearly light on the rear end at speed (gave Seton the fright of his life down Conrod in the wet, see below), and it burnt rear tyres due to the lack of downforce.

      Regarding brock down on hp, those running Shell fuel was let's just say a very very special blend.

    Why was the Grice Commodore not in its 'Chickadee' livery? This would have only been a month after it's win the JH Bathurst 1000.

      Different car. Graeme Bailey owned the Bathurst winner.
