The G3 was my first LG phone. For its time it had a great design, great camera, great display, and one of the biggest batteries in 2014. That phone could pass as a 2019 lower-end phone with an update.
not really. Full plastic phone with big bezels. Right in line with the s5 or the Oneplus one. remember that in 2017 the S8 was released. no Flagship in 1017-18 was plastic.
I just got mine and I'm really loving it. I don't mind the little notification light. In fact I appreciate that it's smaller and less bright, especially when I'm sleeping. I like the gestures and sleep modes a lot. There's also a "quickremote" app from LG that allows you to pull a skeletal TV or cable box remote from the notification bar and operate your TV from your phone. I know this was already sort of a thing with third party apps, but the ability to just pull it down from the drop down is nice. The way it feels in my hand is nice even though I have small hands, and the right case does not add any bulk to the sleek feel of the phone. So far I have not noticed any issues with overheating but I will keep that in mind.
I got this phone 1 month ago. My quick review is: The battery is my main concern. It's not the worst but doesn't compete with the S5. Screen is not bright enough for sunny days, BUT on the plus side it's very pleasing for bed time. Also, what everyone says about the colours not being accurate, fuck those guys, the colours are just fine and look super realistic. Camera is extremely good, I have yet to take a picture twice because I didn't like the first one. The phone feels very nice in the hand and has the perfect size for my hands. It REALLY feels like a 5 inch phone and looks great. I get asked about the phone at least once a day, not kidding. It's an extremely attractive phone. It's also fast and responsive. The speakers are also good. Not HTC one standards but much better than the ones on the S5.
Phew! Now that was a review worth watching! But I did have one problem with it, I was too distracted by the clarity and sharpness of the video! haha ;)
dude ur reviews are sick...every time i watch one ( and i've watched a LOT ) i feel like i've gotten a thorough, real-world type of review, not just someone who reads off specs and analyzes the construction. keep it up man, much love!
I've been using the G2 for the past year and it's been great! The only problem came a month or so ago. The screen started to register ghost touches and other parts went dead. Luckily we were paying for insurance, so it was swapped out.
Too soon, the end of 2014 and 2015 will have even better phone. Don't give into this "I gotta have the latest gadget" bullshit. It's a waste of god damn money.
Alright I found this module called *Native Clipboard* which does the same functionality. So if you're running Xposed you can simply download it and use it. Its gonna be in my permanent module list.....
1- Battery Life. Now it's way better than the Z1. 2- 4K and slow-mo. 4K may not be all that important but slow motion is really useful. The image processing software is also better, images look better and sharper than the Z1. 3- Stereo front facing speakers and Active Noise Cancelling. 4- Bigger screen in the same body = thinner bezels. 5- 3GB RAM. Now tell me more how the iPhone 5S is a major upgrade from the iPhone 5, or the Galaxy S5 from the S4. Apple and Samsung kept the exact same design of their phones since the iPhone 4 and every year they only add few features like a "taller screen" and "state-of-the-art processor".
TheRedTech98 i dont know man the S5 has a NEW CAMERA, FINGER PRINT AND HEART RATE SENSOR, BIGGER BAT, MORE USABLE SPACE, BETTER SCREEN, DOWNLOAD BOOSTER, IT'S NOW WATER RESISTANT, SNAPDRAGON 801 FROM 600 UNLIKE Z2 800 TO 801, NEW DESIGN LANGUAGE ETC They are both good but speaking of upgrade S5 from St has way more than Z2 from Z1
Watched several of your reviews now, and I have to say I like the way you present. Your videos are informative, appear to be unbiased, and always seem to cover the points I'm most interested in. Keep it up! BTW, will you be doing a Samsung Galaxy A5 review any time soon?
To me, this phone has literally everything, not only, a power-user could possibly wish for. Powerful, long battery life, perfectly shaped with great looking body, tiny bezels, good speaker, superb camera, but most of all, removable back and swap-able battery! Gotta love this phone!
completely agree with you. LG has been under the radar and unfortunately overshadowed by samsung, but their phones are hands down far better. They pack way more useful software features, better camera, better screens, better battery life. I'm doubtful the Note 4 would be able to trump this phone. LG were geniuses placing the buttons on the back to allow for super thin bezels and a beautiful large display on a small body. Geniuses! Also makes for a very minimalistic clean look too. I wish this phone catches on with more people
i bought this phone over 3 years ago and it is still working. despite some screen-crackage and a little software bug it was and still is amazing. now i'm noticing some difficulties with the storage (only 16 gb xD ) and it's lagging a lot since it just can't process the newer huge piles of data. but overall, looking back i would give it a 9/10. amazing.
Very eloquent yet not snooty as far as presentation goes. As for the content, you have answered my questions and concerns I had for the LG G3 with a balanced pro/con approach. Thanks for the good work.
Whats this? A youtuber with over 1million subs is replying to comments on his videos? This is unheard of! Great review as always, keep up the fantastic work. :^)
i bought this phone in the first quater of february 2015 so i had this phone for over 1 1/2 years now and i must say: it is still my favourite phone i ever had! before i was a little Samsung fangirl. I had the S plus and S3. But now where i got to LG, I never want to go back. pros for me: -The buttons on the back make the phone super handy -The battery life is super durable. As he said, you go to sleep with 100 and wake up with 99% and listening to music or so only uses minimal battery life -The screen goes from super bright to super dark (very comfortable) -The camera takes great Pictures (+ the button on the back makes it super easy handy too) -The removable back (was a must for me) -Overall, it is very durable! I had it for over 1 1/2 years now and didn't treat it overly well (it fell on the floor literally at least 2 times a day) cons for me: -Overheating. Having it plugged in and watching videos makes this thins hot as sand at italian beaches! Also using the camera for longer filming and photo sessions cause it to overheat. -The metal frame. Although I love the look of it and it doesn't break, when the corner hits the ground it deforms very much I could list you more points but for me are those the most important ones. I hope my opinoin could help you, have a great day ^^
I say its all upon personal preference. IOS targets those who want something simple Android for people who want a little more, windows OS for those who want a combination for both, and blackberry...blackberry is just happy to still be here.
This or the OnePlus one. Where I Iive they are basically the same price, really cant decide. Better with the LG G3 -1440p -Smaller footprint -Lighter (13 grams) -Better Camera Better with the OnePlus One -Better Front Facing Camera -Way better feel in hand -Better OS (my opinion) -32GB more Storage -Better battery Life -Better Speaker placement/quality If I have left any points out please let me know :)
+Daniel Andriske Im currently in the same situation as yours. Its hard for me to decide between these two phones as they are both great phones and in the same price range. Have you decided which one to go for? any advice would be great. Cheers
lg is underrated, but I think the reason being is the bootloop. I've owned a g4 and a g5, and both have sadly died on me. they're good phones aside from that problem tho.
SKEPTICAL AT FIRST BUT AFTER AN IN DEPTH RESEARCH, I'VE FINALLY GET MY LG G3 TODAY REPLACING MY AGING SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 1 OF 4 YEARS! WELL LG G3 DEFINITELY BLOWS ME AWAY! BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. SUPERB JOB LG! LOOKING FORWARD TO LG G4!
+Nathaniel Van Duinen After year and a half my screen started to flicker and shut down by itself. I cant even make a phone call. Very disappointed in LG !
Kinda left wondering about the heat thing. Kinda major imo but just felt only lightly touched on. Seemed like a quick review for such an anticipated phone. Could you be more detailed about the heat issue?
I have an LG OPTIMUS G PRO. It gives the same message when it gets hot. It limits the level of brightness at these times. It's never drastic and isn't really noticeable at all.
Thanks for the info. Just wondering how much usage gets the phone to warn you that'll it'll shut down. I'm a heavy user and don't need to worry about the phone wanting to shut down. The screen brightness would be annoying because it sounds like the phone doesn't have the brightest screen.
I have the original optimus G (nexus 4 base) and it too has the same warning that he has in this video. It has never once told me that my phone had to turn off but the temperature thing just means you cant turn your screen any brighter until the battery is a little bit cooler. nothing that affects performance from what ive observed as well.
It's good that LG implements this... Due to the technology used to make the Tegra 3 chip in my HTC One X it almost always overheats, especially since I live near the equator and all I have to do is just 5 minutes of Clash of Clans under the sun and you have a steaming hot phone right there. It's never good when a phone overheats. The battery gets strained and drains itself as fast as you need water after a intensive workout. Things can get burnt (I had a friend who burnt the motherboard of his iPhone 5 since he was always constantly playing Fifa while charging his phone) and your whole phone gets fried. If LG has such measures to stop you from overheating the phone further then it is a good thing!
It might play it but it's definitely going to downsample it to 16 but and 44.1kHz because the output is only 16bit so there's no quality improvement for you...
Lol fool. I'am a proud owner of a - Chord QBD76 HDSD. But now looking for something portable and light to go with a new smartphone... Which is better than your smartphone. So I'm asking. Times have changed, I'm always moving.. So want a selection of tunes with me. You probably still listen to shit format content.
Hi Marques, thank you for doing this review, I have watched many reviews on youtube and other sites, however your review is by far the best and most interesting and very well produced and filmed, thank you
***** Very few ppl care? Really I don't even buy phones now without microsd. Why anyone would spend $600 on a phone with limited storage is mind boggling.
Yeah there's a reason for that, dude. The Z2 is just a bad phone. You Sony fanboys are completely oblivious, or are just trying to justify that you chose the wrong phone. It's SO damn ugly and uncomfortable to hold. The software is bland. The camera is good, but far from the best. The screen is okay. Battery life, fine. The performance, good like every other phone on the market. It's waterproof, so you can like go for a swim with your phone, if that's what you're into? Can you see how nothing about it really stands out compared to it's competitors? It's just boring.
MKBHD - do a review of this LG G3, now it has 6.0 marshmallow. And now it performs like ten times faster rather than with lollipop. And in this case - it is the best bugdet phone, I payed just 140 euros for it.
I'm an apple fan. now now before you start going off, I love this phone, its very big, very attractive very 'beautiful' and the resolution and the camera is just, wow, like wow. I'm just started saving up......
I'm watching on this phone on 2022. I bought this phone on launch day and still keep it around. I can't believe it's been 8 years. This phone was a powerhouse for it's day.
I got this phone over S5 iPhone6 and Z2. I'm really glad to escape from Apple. I was about to get the 6 but it was ugly even the S5 is ugly but G3 and Z2 have pretty good designs and the UI is better. Z2 is a fantastic phone but I prefer the G3 because of the bezels and QHD which may drain down the battery faster but other than that, awesome phone.
Count Hobo Personal preference I guess, I really like the z3, but I hear it has its own set of issues. The g3 has very good pricing right now too, but the sony def feels more premium.
You should get this one, the Android is beautiful and simple and the specs of every component is vastly superior to the Iphone. I think it even features a 2k or 4k screen.
Nah, overheating shouldn't be that much of a problem. Apparently my Optimus G has this overheating limit too but I haven't seen it since I got it 2 years ago. And yes, I once used 3G for downloading, a PSP emulator and Bluetooth at the same time. Still no warning. Just don't turn the brightness to levels where you need sunglasses and it should be ok.
I have an LG G2 and the overheating is really bad. With the plastic, it gets slippery and it's unconfortable to hold. It gets around 40C, which isn't very good. And it gets hot just from browsing etc.
Awesome reviews! I have one suggestion, or more of a request. Could you start briefly showing other flagship phones next to the phone you are reviewing to get a phone size / screen size comparison. You said you have large hands, so it is difficult to sometimes tell how large the phone is in comparison.
I am so confused! Some people say it's a great phone, whilst the others say the complete opposite - talk about from one extreme to the other! Please can somebody give an objective opinion about the phone as I would really like to buy it.
I got this phone recently, and I am seriously impressed. Thank you for this awesome review as well. It helped me make my finale decision on getting a good device without breaking the bank!
dommh the battery life was great. I only kept it for about a month because it started to have this problem where the screen would freeze and slowly fade to Black. this is a problem with the G3 that's pretty well known, and is unfortunately very hard to fix. I'm now rocking a Galaxy S5 with mediocre battery life, but the battery still lasts me a decent amount of the day. the G3 had fantastic battery life however.
so what do you guys think is the best of these phones right now, G3 (it has Marshmallow now), One M8, Galaxy S5, and Oneplus one, or Oneplus X , they're almost the same price
Wait, I know that the G3 has Marshmallow now but mine doesn't, I bought mine used off of someone and it was unlocked but I think the original carrier was Verizon, do you know what's the problem? Also what phones do you think I could trade it for?
MidnightAxe i ended up buying a G4, and so far so good, especially, the display, the battery and the camera, and to answer your question i think you have to know what model you have first, by going to Settings, About phone, and then check on the internet if people with the same model as you had it
my first smartphone 😟 I bought it in 2015 after watching this particular review, took countless amounts of pictures with it throughout its lifespan, still have those pics to this day. It got stuck in a bootloop though in late 2017, then I sold it. Good old days, LG will def go down as super underrated with their smartphones, the g3 alone had some features that weren't even native to android at the time.
Hi there , it is killing me about LG G3 , i really want to get the phone but seeing all this reviews about the phone getting hot and shutting down when recording 4k or playing games and stuff like that is just pissing me off :| i really need someone who knows more than normal ppl thats why im asking you to help me if this is true or not or if it is has it been fixed with updates on kitkat or maybe on lollipop ill really appreciate it if you answer my question mate thanks alot
I have the g3 man . im being real with u. It heats up . it does . The g3 comes with this app tht cools down the cpu with helps alot. It doesnt turn off on u . nun of tht .It heats up only on some apps. But beside tht . its freakin awesome . i make other ppl galaxys and iphone look wack when i show them the things the g3 can do . i kinda like the back buttons . Plus if verizion is your S- provider . it makes your phone super fast. Custimation is a big factor in this phone. I reccomend tho . charges so fast but dies fast with screen brightness high
After Hours Trust me I have a G3 its awesome. I prefer it better than the IPhone 6 or The Note 4. It only heats up if you play a lot of games for long periods of time. It has a long battery life, the camera is really HD and it just simply looks beautiful.
Hi there. I can only speak as to my own experience with this device. I picked it up about a week ago, and I love the damn thing. I have not had any negative experiences at all. The battery is really good, and I have not had any overheating at all. By no means am I a power gamer but I do my fair share. I would definitely recommend this.
Had a G2, G3 and let me tell you, G3 was the absolute worst piece of shit I've ever used. I'm now using a LG V20 and I can honestly say this phone is the best LG phone that LG made so far, I've had no issues with it, ui is clean everthing is amazing
I love how you actually talk about the user experience instead of just listing a bunch of specs like other channels do. Specs are good to know but at the end of the day it doesn't really help the average consumer looking for a new device.
Here in 2023 because the world is terrible and I’ve decided to live in the past via old RUclips, and so here’s my almost decade-late comment. I was so excited for this phone that I had a case, screen protector and new set of headphones before it even dropped at Sprint. The placement of the buttons on the back blew my 2015 mind. The camera took great photos and it never felt too big, always just right. The battery life was fantastic and my Bluetooth range was so impressive that when I switched to an iPhone 6 Plus the next year, it was a shocking drop in range. And then…bootloop. I got stuck in bootloop and for a month, sprint and LG sent me in circles saying they were on back order with no end in sight. By the time I finally got my replacement device 5 weeks later, most of the excitement had gone. But for those first 9 months or so, it was one of my favorite phones ever at the time, right behind the HTC EVO and the HTC One M7.
So it's been a year since I got my G3. Now for the record I take a ton of care when it comes to technology. But I just wanna know if anyone else is experiencing these problems. -Power Button collapses into phone (I assume it's a spring) -Camera quality becomes terrible (Humidity?) -Screen is occasionally unresponsive (Dirt?) -Extreme lag(I have only 18 downloaded apps all on the SD Card) -When locking, screen occasionally fluctuates between on and off (Could be linked to the power button problem)
Help! I'm currently using an iPhone 4s and are going to upgrade at the end of this year. I'm torn between the LG G3 OnePlus One & iPhone 6 Anybody know which is best? (any other phones I should also consider?)
If you're already used to the iPhone series, Apple will easily impress you with the iPhone 6 based on the specs currently released. Yes, based on the current specs we have assumed so far it will not be superior to the LG G3, but there is still about a month left for us to officially know, and who knows the iPhone 6 could become the best phone of 2014. Transferring things on your 4s to the 6 would obviously be much more convenient due to iCloud and iTunes, and you'd keep your music etc. with no problem at all.
Buy LG G3. It is seriously quick and blazing fast. Of course, if you own a Mac and live in Apple's eco system, it is best not to switch to Android devices. Yosemite works great with your iPhone in the fall. But if just need an all in one device to suit all your daily needs, seriously, choose LG G3.
Reconsidering you must remember iPhone hasn't actually done anything impressive in 4 years as well and all the fans were saying it will have this and that, making out it would be so amazing but then it was the same as last time just thinner, I doubt the iPhone will have better specs than the LG because the LG has better specs than Apples laptops, but even if the specs are better than LGs as 1 or 2 reviews said, there isn't a point of a phones specs getting better than LG, Samsung and Sonys specs because there isn't anything the phones cant handle now, so butting in a 3 GHz Quad core in a phone would be useless (I know the iPhone doesn't have that, their "top of the range" computers don't even have that, just an example) so spec wise the current phones are as good as they going to get, you CAN put better specs in but it will be useless, it will be like buying a huge gaming PC then only using it for emails and word, the specs and money will just be wasted ... but also what im saying is don't believe any "pre-release" apple stuff because their fans always go over the top, then gets released with none of that and the fans still think its perfect
well I don't really like apple because spec wise they in the lower mid range of phones but they charge top of the range so I just see them as a rip off, I have the LG G3, I got it on the day it came out in South Africa (my contract was over on that day so I was lucky) anyway I thought id take a risk, I cant compare to other smart phones because my last phone was a blackberry, anyway the battery life is great, can make me full a full day heavy usage (just make sure the screen is off when ur not using it) and 1.5 days medium usage, I have no problems, phone crashed once (I put in the memory card and it tried to load 16 gigs of music at the same time and just crashed but when it was on again it was fine also a nice thing about other phones is expandable storage) screen is great, pictures are amazing, I have no problems with the phone, everything it does it does perfectly, but I cannot compare to other current smart phones because I have no had 1, I love the buttons at the back, and using swipe to type words makes typing so easy and fast (but all android phones have swipe I think)
I honestly think you should go with a Oneplus One, if you can get one, Moto X (Moto X+1 I guess) but a G3 isn't a bad choice either. The iPhone 6? To hell with Apple.
I'm picking it up tomorrow from the carrier's shop. I come from a LG Optimus 3D, so i guess i'm going to be extra-amazed by everything this phone has to offer me LOL.
XBOXNationTVHD How is the camera quality in comparison to the s5? I use my phone to take pics. its easier than carrying around a camera and sometimes I only take my phone out with me and never know when I may need to take a pic or vid. Also the battery life? Would I get through a whole day on a single charge...I would use it quite a bit throughout the day.
Shark Babe camera quality is pretty good but I'd also be considerate of the HTC one M8. Yes HTC is coming out with the same phone except there replacing the 4 Ultra Pixel camera with a 13MP Duo camera.
I'm just telling you though, don't go with the Samsung GS5, its a nice phone but because of the bloatware they put on it, it'll slow the software down and I know you don't want to be stuck with that for two years
Is this phone still worth getting?(September 12, 2016). I'm thinking of getting the AT&T model but all I see in the comments is problems with overheating due to the HD screen/and or while using 4G. Is this true? I have an LG G Flex and I love the battery on this phone, it can last me a very long time while I use it almost nonstop with my unlimited 4G data plan and I think I've had it for about 2 years now. I've grown attached to LG Quick Remote and the Qslide so this is why I'm looking for another LG phone that is very good like this LG G Flex. Tell me your honest opinions and experiences please and maybe lead me towards another LG phone, or just a very good phone with an IR blaster built in. Thanks.
I have had the G3 for over 2 years now so I can give you an honest opinion. The G3 is a decent phone (was considered one of the best in summer 2014, but again that was over 2 years ago), with some noticeable flaws. As the first phone to come out with 2K resolution, or 2560x1440, it doesn't have the refinement that more recent 2K phones have. The colors are okay (not great), but it doesn't get very bright and any recent 2K AMOLED panel will beat it by a mile. Also it uses the outdated snapdragon 801, which can't really handle a 2K resolution with confidence, so the G3 has a few stutters and lags. Personally I am upgrading to the OnePlus 3, which is only $400, so not even that much more expensive than a new G3. On paper it looks way better in almost every way except the screen resolution, which is only 1080p. But, I think I will notice the vastly improved performance, more vibrant colors, and brighter display more than the decrease in resolution, so I consider the screen to be an upgrade as well. If you are really strapped for cash and can find a G3 at a great price, its definitely an option, but I would recommend something more recent. 2016 really is the year of budget smartphones; quite a few awesome smartphones like the OnePlus 3 and ZTE Axon 7 have come out at around the $400 mark that offer an experience comparable (or better than) the $800+ flagships of apple, samsung, and google. So if you've got even a little extra room in your budget, I would recommend going with one of those.
Hey Marques, thank you for the awesome review. Because of this, I bought the LG G3 3 days ago. This is an awesome phone! It came with Android Lollipop and is so smooth. My last phone was a beat up iphone4, and am glad to finally be back to Android. My only complaint is the battery and the phone gets really warm sometimes. Other than that, it's a real pleasure to use. All the best.
mohamad hamad Just because we have apple, we are dumb little spoiled kids? It's our freaking stupid choices if we want to own one. If it's your problem, might as well you should just shut up.
Okay. Its Nov. 2015. I'm considering this phone because its used on amazon for 150. Should I get this? or is there better out there for lets say 250 and under used? I am a Galaxy S5 owner and i hate the lag, the random crap it gives me. Its buggy and i hate it.
Idk if you made the purchase yet. But I ordered mine yesterday (11-25) I got it for 279 USD NEW. I would recommend getting it (new) for Ive had a bad experience buying my first "used" phone.
I would go with the s5, the iphone, cfrom what i heard bends in your pocket. The m8 is a decent phone, my friend has one but he dosent really like it. The s5 is overall probably the best phone out there in my opinion, besides the note 4
Get the M8 if sound and design are most important to you, the S5 if you you want features even without aesthetics, get the iPhone 6 if ergonomics, performance, and a great app selection are important to you at the cost of customization, and the LG G3 if you want an all around good phone.
I got the LG G3 on Christmas Eve, usually always on 90% brightness with automatic mode enabled, I have been getting at least 5 hours of screen on time through each charge. It was definitely a much needed upgrade from my old iPhone 4s. Performance is pretty amazing so far, would recommend it.
Hating my nexus 6, what phone should I get to replace it? LG G3 is looking good but I might want to try the HTC one m9 or the flex 2. I already have the Oneplus one and I don't really care for Samsung. Help!!!
dont get anymore cause i ahve it since it came out now i have many issues now it restarts one in a while many time the location turns on at ramdom moments the phones get hot when doing alot of stuff so basically very hot compared to other phone and because of that britness goes down
I've had this phone for a couple months now. Really great overall, and have never gotten a notice about the phone being "too hot" and threatening to shut down. It does get hot if you use it for 10,15, 20 minutes straight but it cools pretty quickly. Also, I keep my phone between 60-70% brightness and it is perfect for indoors and outdoors
The display is not that good at all besides resolution. Shitty shadows, over saturated, reduces brightness when it gets too hot. Don't get me wrong this phone is near perfect, but it's not the best display out. Just because of resolution.
I am still using my s2 to this day and it hasn't let me down yet. I am also thinking of upgrading to the lg g3. I was also comparing it to the g2 though I am still a bit undecided. The g2 is much more affordable.
The G3 was my first LG phone. For its time it had a great design, great camera, great display, and one of the biggest batteries in 2014. That phone could pass as a 2019 lower-end phone with an update.

This phone was ahead of its time. Design language is more 2016-17 than 2014.
true words
not really. Full plastic phone with big bezels. Right in line with the s5 or the Oneplus one. remember that in 2017 the S8 was released. no Flagship in 1017-18 was plastic.
@@kuaraba design language, not materials..
@@kuaraba big bezels? look at the g3 rival phones, they got even bigger bezels.
I had this phone in 2014 - 2016 and always loved every feature. So bad LG nowadays isn't good as it was.
I remember having this phone. I absolutely loved it.
Same. Mine eventually cooked itself to death :c
Marques does the best reviews.

Phew! Now that was a review worth watching! But I did have one problem with it, I was too distracted by the clarity and sharpness of the video! haha ;)
Trolled MKBHD like a boss *****
Bala Vignesh haha, that's a little something I like to call "complimentative trolling"
dude ur reviews are sick...every time i watch one ( and i've watched a LOT ) i feel like i've gotten a thorough, real-world type of review, not just someone who reads off specs and analyzes the construction. keep it up man, much love!
Can you imagine getting a like and a comment 10 years from the time you posted something. Hope you are well
I just pre-ordered this phone to replace my Galaxy S4. I am anxious to get it and see if it is as good as you say.
I've been using the G2 for the past year and it's been great! The only problem came a month or so ago. The screen started to register ghost touches and other parts went dead. Luckily we were paying for insurance, so it was swapped out.
I also have the G2 running KitKat and could not be happier. Dang it, now I "need" the G3
TheYankeeMarshal watches *****? That's freaking awesome
I got the g3 from sprint. I'm very happy with the overall performance.
Too soon, the end of 2014 and 2015 will have even better phone. Don't give into this "I gotta have the latest gadget" bullshit. It's a waste of god damn money.
+1 to that clipboard feature LG has provided. Very neat and extremely useful IMHO.
Alright I found this module called *Native Clipboard* which does the same functionality. So if you're running Xposed you can simply download it and use it.
Its gonna be in my permanent module list.....
that's also present on galaxy note devices, works with text and images too
Marcus Ardelean Thanks for mentioning that.
Emmm.. where is Xperia Z2 review..?
they did one on Z1, and it's almost the same, so no point in doing review
I am also waiting for his Z2 review..
Can you point out any major differences in the Z2 from the Z1 ? ? ? ... don't waste your time. nothing new there, more like the Z1S
TheRedTech98 i dont know man the S5 has a NEW CAMERA, FINGER PRINT AND HEART RATE SENSOR, BIGGER BAT, MORE USABLE SPACE, BETTER SCREEN, DOWNLOAD BOOSTER, IT'S NOW WATER RESISTANT, SNAPDRAGON 801 FROM 600 UNLIKE Z2 800 TO 801, NEW DESIGN LANGUAGE ETC
They are both good but speaking of upgrade S5 from St has way more than Z2 from Z1
I wish this phone catches on with more people
i bought this phone over 3 years ago and it is still working. despite some screen-crackage and a little software bug it was and still is amazing. now i'm noticing some difficulties with the storage (only 16 gb xD ) and it's lagging a lot since it just can't process the newer huge piles of data. but overall, looking back i would give it a 9/10. amazing.
Just bought one for 160 unlock on Ebay I am loving it so far.
Hi Marques,.This review helps me to decide to buy this phone LG 3..I can't wait and I am so excited to get this phone next month,.Thanks A lot!
Just got this phone a couple days ago and I'm totally in love with it.
As a filmmaker, I am so jealous of your RED... Great videos though :)
Agreed
I know right if I had that camera I would be able to do so much with my channel!
Im jelly of his giant black chicken ;)
Indeed. Pixar uses red!!!
What is RED?
(sorry I'm a noobie)
Today I mourn the loss of Lg Phones. They made such good phones including this.
Yes
I remember this phone. I was always amazed by the fax that I could never make out the pixels, they were almost too small to see. It was awesome.
It's sad but they will live on online
Very eloquent yet not snooty as far as presentation goes. As for the content, you have answered my questions and concerns I had for the LG G3 with a balanced pro/con approach. Thanks for the good work.
Who's back in 2019
Whats this? A youtuber with over 1million subs is replying to comments on his videos? This is unheard of!
Great review as always, keep up the fantastic work.
:^)
Wow , you talk so clearly and fluently . Didn't know it was a black guy talking the whole time , I had my video running and was looking at other stuff
Are you saying black people can't speak fluently or clearly?
Nope
Yeah you were. You just said you couldn't believe he was black because he talks clearly.
Bullshit you're lying !!! Bob take that back
Black or otherwise, this guy is an excellent speaker. So refreshing, especially on RUclips videos.
this was such a comfortable phone, i really miss it
also i think this was one of my first videos of yours...
i bought this phone in the first quater of february 2015 so i had this phone for over 1 1/2 years now and i must say: it is still my favourite phone i ever had!
before i was a little Samsung fangirl. I had the S plus and S3. But now where i got to LG, I never want to go back.
pros for me:
-The buttons on the back make the phone super handy
-The battery life is super durable. As he said, you go to sleep with 100 and wake up with 99% and listening to music or so only uses minimal battery life
-The screen goes from super bright to super dark (very comfortable)
-The camera takes great Pictures (+ the button on the back makes it super easy handy too)
-The removable back (was a must for me)
-Overall, it is very durable! I had it for over 1 1/2 years now and didn't treat it overly well (it fell on the floor literally at least 2 times a day)
cons for me:
-Overheating. Having it plugged in and watching videos makes this thins hot as sand at italian beaches! Also using the camera for longer filming and photo sessions cause it to overheat.
-The metal frame. Although I love the look of it and it doesn't break, when the corner hits the ground it deforms very much
I could list you more points but for me are those the most important ones.
I hope my opinoin could help you, have a great day ^^
Thank, help to hear that. I just ordered mine yesterday. Should arrive any day now
Blackberry is still the best.
Said no one ever.
Blackberry kicks ass
kicked ass 5 years ago :P
No one is the best phone maker
I say its all upon personal preference. IOS targets those who want something simple
Android for people who want a little more, windows OS for those who want a combination for both, and blackberry...blackberry is just happy to still be here.
Oh
Your killing it dude good work
Love the way you do your Analysis bro.... so so so cool...... i wanted to buy this phone tomorrow and you have been so so so helpfull
This or the OnePlus one. Where I Iive they are basically the same price, really cant decide.
Better with the LG G3
-1440p
-Smaller footprint
-Lighter (13 grams)
-Better Camera
Better with the OnePlus One
-Better Front Facing Camera
-Way better feel in hand
-Better OS (my opinion)
-32GB more Storage
-Better battery Life
-Better Speaker placement/quality
If I have left any points out please let me know :)
+Daniel Andriske Im currently in the same situation as yours. Its hard for me to decide between these two phones as they are both great phones and in the same price range. Have you decided which one to go for? any advice would be great. Cheers
don't by the g3. I have to bring around 2 batteries everywhere the battery life is so bad.
+Daniel Andriske yeah im having the same problem
the lg is better but the speaker on the opo is not good and the feel is crap I gonna get the moto style but I would go with the g3
+Daniel Andriske i'd take the oneplus one, mostly because of the software
lg is underrated
agreed
no they are not
Jackpika why not?
so many issues they didn't acknowledge like boot loop issues
lg is underrated, but I think the reason being is the bootloop. I've owned a g4 and a g5, and both have sadly died on me. they're good phones aside from that problem tho.
The camera on this is amazing i take some insane pictures!
Just ordered this. My last LG lasted me for little less than 6 years. Hopefully this one will too
+Nathaniel Van Duinen After year and a half my screen started to flicker and shut down by itself. I cant even make a phone call. Very disappointed in LG !
Anton8777 use papermod
Well the heat lost badly in the finals if thats the case xD
Does the G3 play 24-bit/192khz FLAC files natively? Because i only listen to superior content.
G2 does so there's reason to believe this one does too
mikidof I know the G2 does. I want a solid YES/NO answer. Just give me the facts!
It might play it but it's definitely going to downsample it to 16 but and 44.1kHz because the output is only 16bit so there's no quality improvement for you...
you would have to get an app that plays them. I use rocket player on my S4. Just curious what kind of music do you listen to?
Hi Marques, thank you for doing this review, I have watched many reviews on youtube and other sites, however your review is by far the best and most interesting and very well produced and filmed, thank you
And... there is a SIM card in the MicroSD slot
Lol
***** Very few ppl care? Really I don't even buy phones now without microsd. Why anyone would spend $600 on a phone with limited storage is mind boggling.
Who is here in 2023?
Meee
2024
2024
Felt like that was ages ago.. Golden age of smartphones

MKBHD! Why u dont like sony? We want Z2! Who else agree with me?
Because Sony phones are shit. Lol
+Nigel Thornberry well everyone has their own opinion :)
Ewan MacRae ok. I'm not sure what the point of your comment was. I never said he can't have his own opinion.
Xperia Z2 isn't out in the US yet and isn't due for quite some time (At least August) so that may be why he hasn't reviewed it.
What a luxury I just watched MARQUES in 2021 talk about this phone and know I go back to 2014 for LG G3 just came out
MKBHD - do a review of this LG G3, now it has 6.0 marshmallow. And now it performs like ten times faster rather than with lollipop. And in this case - it is the best bugdet phone, I payed just 140 euros for it.
Aliexprs...
amazon is selling it for $84 right now.
I'm an apple fan. now now before you start going off, I love this phone, its very big, very attractive very 'beautiful' and the resolution and the camera is just, wow, like wow. I'm just started saving up......
Got an S5 yesterday, should I have waited for this phone ???mmm idk
The Galaxy s5 is great, enjoy it
should have waited.
Ask yourself this, what does the g3 have that the s5 doesn't besides a higher pixel count?
I just got the S5 as well instead. Besides for some pixels, S5 is just as good if not better.
They're both great phones and you'll benefit with either one of them anyway, so be happy with what you got.
Count Hobo my battery life is pretty good I'd say.
Count Hobo Battery is very large but it drains a little bit faster tha usual
Count Hobo Personal preference I guess, I really like the z3, but I hear it has its own set of issues. The g3 has very good pricing right now too, but the sony def feels more premium.
walter white Yeah the Z3 feels more premium but the G3 has a more compact design and the back buttons are not a gimmick
I just left apple also I had the 5 and was thinking about getting the 6 till I came across the LG3
Damn, I've really been looking forward to the iphone 6 but this is actually looking like a great phone.
Same Here
I actually just got the g3. After playing with it its performance is great compared to my iphones ive had.
Or iphone 5s, because the iphone 5s is much cheaper right now and it's a pretty good phone.
***** its the same as the six just bigger I think hes concerned more about the features of the phone rather than the size or look
You should get this one, the Android is beautiful and simple and the specs of every component is vastly superior to the Iphone. I think it even features a 2k or 4k screen.
those little issues you mentioned are massive issues especially the over heating.
Well it depends on the person. It is not that important for me cause I always keep the brightness pretty low so I don't expect to get them at all.
I think LG G3 notifying you that your phone might overheat is a huge plus. Many smartphones overheat without any warning.
That copy and paste feature has been around for a very long time
For Marques to be an expert reviewer, he misses on details quite a lot...especially since he always rocks with the Note Series.
All time favorite phone😍😍😍😍
I am so confused! Some people say it's a great phone, whilst the others say the complete opposite - talk about from one extreme to the other! Please can somebody give an objective opinion about the phone as I would really like to buy it.
I got this phone recently, and I am seriously impressed. Thank you for this awesome review as well. It helped me make my finale decision on getting a good device without breaking the bank!
My G2 is severely damaged and barely works and my Grandma texted me and said she bought me this phone! :D
Lukel nobody cares
Lukel nice man 😀 how's the battery life so far?
dommh the battery life was great. I only kept it for about a month because it started to have this problem where the screen would freeze and slowly fade to Black. this is a problem with the G3 that's pretty well known, and is unfortunately very hard to fix. I'm now rocking a Galaxy S5 with mediocre battery life, but the battery still lasts me a decent amount of the day. the G3 had fantastic battery life however.
bit late dont u think? its almost 3 years old now!
Coololly already got it last month. Battery life is atrocious but it charges fast so it's alright
When a phone heats up a lot, it's dangerous and highly annoying.. Guess what phones heats up to the depths of lava? The IPhone! Omg lol
Shutup
😆 tcw
But I'm serious even though I laugh ..the iPhone burns up
Yeah.. All android phones are not exempt from the burning up phenomenon but the iPhone cuts the cake
Eric Divine I agree, my 5S heats up to no return especially with my case on it
Top 5 smartphones of 2014 (personal opinion):
1. HTC One M8
2. LG G3
3. Sony Xperia Z3
4. Samsung Galaxy S5
5. iPhone 6+
I primarily shop in the used phone market, and I just wanted to say thanks for the great overview. It's still helpful 2 years after you published it.
so what do you guys think is the best of these phones right now, G3 (it has Marshmallow now), One M8, Galaxy S5, and Oneplus one, or Oneplus X , they're almost the same price
Wait, I know that the G3 has Marshmallow now but mine doesn't, I bought mine used off of someone and it was unlocked but I think the original carrier was Verizon, do you know what's the problem? Also what phones do you think I could trade it for?
MidnightAxe i ended up buying a G4, and so far so good, especially, the display, the battery and the camera, and to answer your question i think you have to know what model you have first, by going to Settings, About phone, and then check on the internet if people with the same model as you had it
+TheStarryKnight I have the D851 model
+MidnightAxe it's a t-mobile unit,i don't think there's the official update for your model yet, ask thev guys at Xda develeppers, they know better
TheStarryKnight Okay, Thank you so much!
You literally never mention Sony or Xperia. What's up with that?
Should I go with G3, S5, or Z2?
g3
G3 for display S5 for waterproof and features or Z2 for build quality and waterproof.
They're all junk, so it doesn't matter, lol.
Go with the nexus 5 for the stock android experience!!!
neil78b Compared to what?
my first smartphone 😟 I bought it in 2015 after watching this particular review, took countless amounts of pictures with it throughout its lifespan, still have those pics to this day. It got stuck in a bootloop though in late 2017, then I sold it. Good old days, LG will def go down as super underrated with their smartphones, the g3 alone had some features that weren't even native to android at the time.
battery sucks. the quad hd screen eats up so much power that it overheats.
Get a new battery. It's replaceable so you could either carry another spare one with you or get a 6000 mah battery
Jon Erickson Chan use CM14. SOLVED
Battery life was very good until android lollipop(cant remember the number). Lollipop update ruined this phone.
Hi there , it is killing me about LG G3 , i really want to get the phone but seeing all this reviews about the phone getting hot and shutting down when recording 4k
or playing games and stuff like that is just pissing me off :| i really need someone who knows more than normal ppl thats why im asking you to help me if this is true or not
or if it is has it been fixed with updates on kitkat or maybe on lollipop ill really appreciate it if you answer my question mate thanks alot
I'm researching this phone myself, but today only, the phone is for $1 with a 2 yr contract. I'm really considering it
I have the g3 man . im being real with u. I reccomend tho . charges so fast but dies fast with screen brightness high
thank you so much for sharing your honest experience mate i appreciate it
After Hours Trust me I have a G3 its awesome.
Lg g3 owner 😎😎 who's watching in 2017 ?
Had a G2, G3 and let me tell you, G3 was the absolute worst piece of shit I've ever used. I'm now using a LG V20 and I can honestly say this phone is the best LG phone that LG made so far, I've had no issues with it, ui is clean everthing is amazing
Dk4K 2018
Me
My G3 still works but the battery is absolutely trash. 100 to 15% in 20 min
@@TonyhatesLego11031people buy a new one.
I love how you actually talk about the user experience instead of just listing a bunch of specs like other channels do. Specs are good to know but at the end of the day it doesn't really help the average consumer looking for a new device.
would this still be good in 2015?
+jojo eltoum why wouldn't it be?
no i mean like to buy it ..... so that its not soooooo old
yes! I still have it
ok ty
I hope it is. For I just ordered mine yesterday. Should be arriving any day now (:
That explains why MKB"HD" :P
Yeah! #kaliyaHD

"Heats up more than other phones"
So... no GPS navigation with max screen brightness which is an essential thing for a smartphone to do...?
So it's been a year since I got my G3. Now for the record I take a ton of care when it comes to technology. But I just wanna know if anyone else is experiencing these problems.
-Power Button collapses into phone (I assume it's a spring)
-Camera quality becomes terrible (Humidity?)
-Screen is occasionally unresponsive (Dirt?)
-Extreme lag(I have only 18 downloaded apps all on the SD Card)
-When locking, screen occasionally fluctuates between on and off (Could be linked to the power button problem)
I've had my G3 for over a year now and my a power button works randomly also I have 4 cracks on my phone and yeah it does get laggy sometimes.
+MannysTech I think LG has build quality issues with some of their phones, which could explain the problems.
I've had mine for a year and a half and nothing wrong with it still functions like it did when it was brand new
+TheMissingSock I've had mine for a year or so, apart from the crack case gate, not much complaint, Marhsmallow has bring it back to life. No regrets.
+Arturo CV i just ordered mine on ebay so iassume its gonna come with kitkat, how did you update to marshmellow? im interested, thanks.
Help!
I'm currently using an iPhone 4s and are going to upgrade at the end of this year.
I'm torn between the LG G3
OnePlus One
& iPhone 6
Anybody know which is best?
I come from a LG Optimus 3D, so i guess i'm going to be extra-amazed by everything this phone has to offer me LOL.
whats better? galaxy s5 or this??? in need of a new phone but getting a bit over samsung
Get the LG G3, my friend who has the S5 for 4 or 5 months now...is already facing some problems like software slowdown and freezing
Shark Babe but the battery life on the LG G3 is slightly better then the Samsung GS5. The GS5 Has a 2800 mAp battery.
Thanks.
eric kream, the battery is bad, but it's ok. it doesn't overheat that much
eric kream also, I just disable 4g when I don't need it. it's just three clicks to disable it, so it's not a big deal
Just came to have a look at my love
Hey Marques, thank you for the awesome review. Because of this, I bought the LG G3 3 days ago. This is an awesome phone! It came with Android Lollipop and is so smooth. My last phone was a beat up iphone4, and am glad to finally be back to Android. My only complaint is the battery and the phone gets really warm sometimes. Other than that, it's a real pleasure to use. All the best.
I have an iphone 4s and i should have never bought it. I feel like apple is for dumb little spoiled kids. I want an android lg g3 sooooo baad
mohamad hamad Just because we have apple, we are dumb little spoiled kids? It's our freaking stupid choices if we want to own one. If it's your problem, might as well you should just shut up.

mohamad hamad You might as well go ahead and buy the G4
Okay. Its Nov. 2015. I'm considering this phone because its used on amazon for 150. Should I get this? or is there better out there for lets say 250 and under used? I am a Galaxy S5 owner and i hate the lag, the random crap it gives me. Its buggy and i hate it.
Same thing. This phone is my first choice. I don't care is its from last year. It has still killer specs.
Idk if you made the purchase yet. But I ordered mine yesterday (11-25) I got it for 279 USD NEW. I would recommend getting it (new) for Ive had a bad experience buying my first "used" phone.
Alejandro Ramos I have not gotten it, waiting for deals to drop. But thank you. I'll see if I can get it.
waiting for cyber monday huh
Alejandro Ramos yeah hoping it would drop
Hey so which phone should I get: iPhone6, S5, LG G3, or M8?
Why?
Thanks
I would go with the s5, the iphone, cfrom what i heard bends in your pocket. The m8 is a decent phone, my friend has one but he dosent really like it. The s5 is overall probably the best phone out there in my opinion, besides the note 4
G3!!
Get the M8 if sound and design are most important to you, the S5 if you you want features even without aesthetics, get the iPhone 6 if ergonomics, performance, and a great app selection are important to you at the cost of customization, and the LG G3 if you want an all around good phone.
G3.. no doubt.. I had G3 little over a week now.. and I must say.... screw samsung and iphone...
I just got the motorola moto x and i absolutly love this phone!
Should I sell my iPhone 5 that battery dies in like 2 hours and the power button doesn't work. And get this
charging port is a nighmare. Mine died today I dont have any phones. :(
*so it's a 2k phone?*
I'm Pretty Sure, Yes
No. its 4k
Parth Thakur No its not.
Parth Thakur 4K is 4096 x 2160
Parth Thakur It's 2K. He said that it was 2560 by 1440
2019 anyone?
That was a really great review. It was the first phone review of yours that I've seen but I'll be sure to watch others from now on, great job.
Hating my nexus 6, what phone should I get to replace it? LG G3 is looking good but I might want to try the HTC one m9 or the flex 2. I already have the Oneplus one and I don't really care for Samsung. Help!!!
Get the G4 or the Z4 when they come out!
Want to sell me your OnePlus?
Nah, I love my one plus
Wondering how stands the G3 against the OnePlus(awesome)
why do u hate the nexus 6? battery life?
That phone is nice😍 like cool
dont get anymore cause i ahve it since it came out now i have many issues now it restarts one in a while many time the location turns on at ramdom moments the phones get hot when doing alot of stuff so basically very hot compared to other phone and because of that britness goes down
Hell Heaven you've had it for two years though...
Hey guys! I need a little help, should I get this Moto X or the LG G3. Both cost the same amount, which is better and will last me longer?
I've had this phone for a couple months now. Really great overall, and have never gotten a notice about the phone being "too hot" and threatening to shut down. It does get hot if you use it for 10,15, 20 minutes straight but it cools pretty quickly. Also, I keep my phone between 60-70% brightness and it is perfect for indoors and outdoors
I watched this to get the iPhone 6 + taste out of my mouth.
When life was actually good.....
The display is not that good at all besides resolution. Shitty shadows, over saturated, reduces brightness when it gets too hot. Don't get me wrong this phone is near perfect, but it's not the best display out. Just because of resolution.
What do you mean by shadows? Like transparent boxes (or just any translucent stuff)?
Over saturated? do you know what saturation is? You know what's over saturated.. Samsung's displays
My mom bought me this back then around 2016 and it was worth it,it had clear camera shots❤
this phone is super cheap refurbished on ebay. only $100
yeah I know can't decide between this or so refurbished
who's watching this after watching ltt's video?
Im going to replace my Samsung S1 with this phone lol
Wow lol
DAAAAAAAAAAAMN thats an EPIC upgrade LOL! i remember i had the S1 but that was the fone i had before my current one lol
Oh...i remember the old days with my Nokia 3300
Shadodex Hah anyone remember the Kajeet.
I am still using my s2 to this day and it hasn't let me down yet. I am also thinking of upgrading to the lg g3. I was also comparing it to the g2 though I am still a bit undecided. The g2 is much more affordable.
Love your reviews, u look at various other sources when looking at phone reviews but yours are by far the best.
Keep up the good work!
