    The G3 was my first LG phone. For its time it had a great design, great camera, great display, and one of the biggest batteries in 2014. That phone could pass as a 2019 lower-end phone with an update.

      not really. Full plastic phone with big bezels. Right in line with the s5 or the Oneplus one. remember that in 2017 the S8 was released. no Flagship in 1017-18 was plastic.

    I just got mine and I'm really loving it. I don't mind the little notification light. In fact I appreciate that it's smaller and less bright, especially when I'm sleeping. I like the gestures and sleep modes a lot. There's also a "quickremote" app from LG that allows you to pull a skeletal TV or cable box remote from the notification bar and operate your TV from your phone. I know this was already sort of a thing with third party apps, but the ability to just pull it down from the drop down is nice. The way it feels in my hand is nice even though I have small hands, and the right case does not add any bulk to the sleek feel of the phone. So far I have not noticed any issues with overheating but I will keep that in mind.

    I got this phone 1 month ago. My quick review is: The battery is my main concern. It's not the worst but doesn't compete with the S5. Screen is not bright enough for sunny days, BUT on the plus side it's very pleasing for bed time. Also, what everyone says about the colours not being accurate, fuck those guys, the colours are just fine and look super realistic. Camera is extremely good, I have yet to take a picture twice because I didn't like the first one. The phone feels very nice in the hand and has the perfect size for my hands. It REALLY feels like a 5 inch phone and looks great. I get asked about the phone at least once a day, not kidding. It's an extremely attractive phone. It's also fast and responsive. The speakers are also good. Not HTC one standards but much better than the ones on the S5.

      Can you point out any major differences in the Z2 from the Z1 ? ? ? ... don't waste your time. nothing new there, more like the Z1S

    • @TheRedTech98
      @TheRedTech98 10 лет назад +16

      1- Battery Life. Now it's way better than the Z1.
      2- 4K and slow-mo. 4K may not be all that important but slow motion is really useful. The image processing software is also better, images look better and sharper than the Z1.
      3- Stereo front facing speakers and Active Noise Cancelling.
      4- Bigger screen in the same body = thinner bezels.
      5- 3GB RAM.
      Now tell me more how the iPhone 5S is a major upgrade from the iPhone 5, or the Galaxy S5 from the S4. Apple and Samsung kept the exact same design of their phones since the iPhone 4 and every year they only add few features like a "taller screen" and "state-of-the-art processor".

    • @bambissense
      @bambissense 10 лет назад

      TheRedTech98 i dont know man the S5 has a NEW CAMERA, FINGER PRINT AND HEART RATE SENSOR, BIGGER BAT, MORE USABLE SPACE, BETTER SCREEN, DOWNLOAD BOOSTER, IT'S NOW WATER RESISTANT, SNAPDRAGON 801 FROM 600 UNLIKE Z2 800 TO 801, NEW DESIGN LANGUAGE ETC
      They are both good but speaking of upgrade S5 from St has way more than Z2 from Z1

    To me, this phone has literally everything, not only, a power-user could possibly wish for. Powerful, long battery life, perfectly shaped with great looking body, tiny bezels, good speaker, superb camera, but most of all, removable back and swap-able battery! Gotta love this phone!

    • @BeyondSkys09
      @BeyondSkys09 10 лет назад

      completely agree with you. LG has been under the radar and unfortunately overshadowed by samsung, but their phones are hands down far better. They pack way more useful software features, better camera, better screens, better battery life. I'm doubtful the Note 4 would be able to trump this phone. LG were geniuses placing the buttons on the back to allow for super thin bezels and a beautiful large display on a small body. Geniuses! Also makes for a very minimalistic clean look too. I wish this phone catches on with more people

    i bought this phone over 3 years ago and it is still working. despite some screen-crackage and a little software bug it was and still is amazing. now i'm noticing some difficulties with the storage (only 16 gb xD ) and it's lagging a lot since it just can't process the newer huge piles of data. but overall, looking back i would give it a 9/10. amazing.

    i bought this phone in the first quater of february 2015 so i had this phone for over 1 1/2 years now and i must say: it is still my favourite phone i ever had!
    before i was a little Samsung fangirl. I had the S plus and S3. But now where i got to LG, I never want to go back.
    pros for me:
    -The buttons on the back make the phone super handy
    -The battery life is super durable. As he said, you go to sleep with 100 and wake up with 99% and listening to music or so only uses minimal battery life
    -The screen goes from super bright to super dark (very comfortable)
    -The camera takes great Pictures (+ the button on the back makes it super easy handy too)
    -The removable back (was a must for me)
    -Overall, it is very durable! I had it for over 1 1/2 years now and didn't treat it overly well (it fell on the floor literally at least 2 times a day)
    cons for me:
    -Overheating. Having it plugged in and watching videos makes this thins hot as sand at italian beaches! Also using the camera for longer filming and photo sessions cause it to overheat.
    -The metal frame. Although I love the look of it and it doesn't break, when the corner hits the ground it deforms very much
    I could list you more points but for me are those the most important ones.
    I hope my opinoin could help you, have a great day ^^

    -Lighter (13 grams)
    -Better Camera
    Better with the OnePlus One

      Thanks for the info. Just wondering how much usage gets the phone to warn you that'll it'll shut down. I'm a heavy user and don't need to worry about the phone wanting to shut down. The screen brightness would be annoying because it sounds like the phone doesn't have the brightest screen.

      I have the original optimus G (nexus 4 base) and it too has the same warning that he has in this video. It has never once told me that my phone had to turn off but the temperature thing just means you cant turn your screen any brighter until the battery is a little bit cooler. nothing that affects performance from what ive observed as well.

      It's good that LG implements this... Due to the technology used to make the Tegra 3 chip in my HTC One X it almost always overheats, especially since I live near the equator and all I have to do is just 5 minutes of Clash of Clans under the sun and you have a steaming hot phone right there.
      It's never good when a phone overheats. The battery gets strained and drains itself as fast as you need water after a intensive workout. Things can get burnt (I had a friend who burnt the motherboard of his iPhone 5 since he was always constantly playing Fifa while charging his phone) and your whole phone gets fried. If LG has such measures to stop you from overheating the phone further then it is a good thing!

      Yeah there's a reason for that, dude. The Z2 is just a bad phone. You Sony fanboys are completely oblivious, or are just trying to justify that you chose the wrong phone.
      It's SO damn ugly and uncomfortable to hold.
      The software is bland.
      The camera is good, but far from the best.
      The screen is okay.
      Battery life, fine.
      The performance, good like every other phone on the market.
      It's waterproof, so you can like go for a swim with your phone, if that's what you're into?
      Can you see how nothing about it really stands out compared to it's competitors? It's just boring.

    I got this phone over S5 iPhone6 and Z2. I'm really glad to escape from Apple. I was about to get the 6 but it was ugly even the S5 is ugly but G3 and Z2 have pretty good designs and the UI is better. Z2 is a fantastic phone but I prefer the G3 because of the bezels and QHD which may drain down the battery faster but other than that, awesome phone.

And yes, I once used 3G for downloading, a PSP emulator and Bluetooth at the same time. Still no warning. Just don't turn the brightness to levels where you need sunglasses and it should be ok.

      dommh the battery life was great. I only kept it for about a month because it started to have this problem where the screen would freeze and slowly fade to Black. this is a problem with the G3 that's pretty well known, and is unfortunately very hard to fix. I'm now rocking a Galaxy S5 with mediocre battery life, but the battery still lasts me a decent amount of the day. the G3 had fantastic battery life however.

It got stuck in a bootloop though in late 2017, then I sold it. Here in 2023 because the world is terrible and I’ve decided to live in the past via old RUclips, and so here’s my almost decade-late comment. I was so excited for this phone that I had a case, screen protector and new set of headphones before it even dropped at Sprint. The placement of the buttons on the back blew my 2015 mind. The camera took great photos and it never felt too big, always just right. The battery life was fantastic and my Bluetooth range was so impressive that when I switched to an iPhone 6 Plus the next year, it was a shocking drop in range. And then…bootloop. I got stuck in bootloop and for a month, sprint and LG sent me in circles saying they were on back order with no end in sight. By the time I finally got my replacement device 5 weeks later, most of the excitement had gone. But for those first 9 months or so, it was one of my favorite phones ever at the time, right behind the HTC EVO and the HTC One M7.

    So it's been a year since I got my G3. Now for the record I take a ton of care when it comes to technology. But I just wanna know if anyone else is experiencing these problems.
    -Power Button collapses into phone (I assume it's a spring)
    -Camera quality becomes terrible (Humidity?)
    -Screen is occasionally unresponsive (Dirt?)
    -Extreme lag(I have only 18 downloaded apps all on the SD Card)
    -When locking, screen occasionally fluctuates between on and off (Could be linked to the power button problem)

      If you're already used to the iPhone series, Apple will easily impress you with the iPhone 6 based on the specs currently released. Yes, based on the current specs we have assumed so far it will not be superior to the LG G3, but there is still about a month left for us to officially know, and who knows the iPhone 6 could become the best phone of 2014. Transferring things on your 4s to the 6 would obviously be much more convenient due to iCloud and iTunes, and you'd keep your music etc. with no problem at all.

    • @johnnypan5104

      Buy LG G3. It is seriously quick and blazing fast. Of course, if you own a Mac and live in Apple's eco system, it is best not to switch to Android devices. Yosemite works great with your iPhone in the fall. But if just need an all in one device to suit all your daily needs, seriously, choose LG G3.

    • @Duplex39
      @Duplex39 10 лет назад +9

      Reconsidering you must remember iPhone hasn't actually done anything impressive in 4 years as well and all the fans were saying it will have this and that, making out it would be so amazing but then it was the same as last time just thinner, I doubt the iPhone will have better specs than the LG because the LG has better specs than Apples laptops, but even if the specs are better than LGs as 1 or 2 reviews said, there isn't a point of a phones specs getting better than LG, Samsung and Sonys specs because there isn't anything the phones cant handle now, so butting in a 3 GHz Quad core in a phone would be useless (I know the iPhone doesn't have that, their "top of the range" computers don't even have that, just an example) so spec wise the current phones are as good as they going to get, you CAN put better specs in but it will be useless, it will be like buying a huge gaming PC then only using it for emails and word, the specs and money will just be wasted ... but also what im saying is don't believe any "pre-release" apple stuff because their fans always go over the top, then gets released with none of that and the fans still think its perfect

      well I don't really like apple because spec wise they in the lower mid range of phones but they charge top of the range so I just see them as a rip off, I have the LG G3, I got it on the day it came out in South Africa (my contract was over on that day so I was lucky) anyway I thought id take a risk, I cant compare to other smart phones because my last phone was a blackberry, anyway the battery life is great, can make me full a full day heavy usage (just make sure the screen is off when ur not using it) and 1.5 days medium usage, I have no problems, phone crashed once (I put in the memory card and it tried to load 16 gigs of music at the same time and just crashed but when it was on again it was fine also a nice thing about other phones is expandable storage) screen is great, pictures are amazing, I have no problems with the phone, everything it does it does perfectly, but I cannot compare to other current smart phones because I have no had 1, I love the buttons at the back, and using swipe to type words makes typing so easy and fast (but all android phones have swipe I think)

      I honestly think you should go with a Oneplus One, if you can get one, Moto X (Moto X+1 I guess) but a G3 isn't a bad choice either. The iPhone 6? To hell with Apple.

      Get the LG G3, my friend who has the S5 for 4 or 5 months now...is already facing some problems like software slowdown and freezing

      XBOXNationTVHD How is the camera quality in comparison to the s5? I use my phone to take pics. its easier than carrying around a camera and sometimes I only take my phone out with me and never know when I may need to take a pic or vid.
      Also the battery life? Would I get through a whole day on a single charge...I would use it quite a bit throughout the day.

    • @XBOXNationTVHD
      @XBOXNationTVHD 10 лет назад +2

      Shark Babe camera quality is pretty good but I'd also be considerate of the HTC one M8. Yes HTC is coming out with the same phone except there replacing the 4 Ultra Pixel camera with a 13MP Duo camera.

    • @XBOXNationTVHD
      @XBOXNationTVHD 10 лет назад +1

      Shark Babe but the battery life on the LG G3 is slightly better then the Samsung GS5. The GS5 Has a 2800 mAp battery.

      @XBOXNationTVHD 10 лет назад +2

      I'm just telling you though, don't go with the Samsung GS5, its a nice phone but because of the bloatware they put on it, it'll slow the software down and I know you don't want to be stuck with that for two years

    Is this phone still worth getting?(September 12, 2016). I'm thinking of getting the AT&T model but all I see in the comments is problems with overheating due to the HD screen/and or while using 4G. Is this true? I have an LG G Flex and I love the battery on this phone, it can last me a very long time while I use it almost nonstop with my unlimited 4G data plan and I think I've had it for about 2 years now. I've grown attached to LG Quick Remote and the Qslide so this is why I'm looking for another LG phone that is very good like this LG G Flex. Tell me your honest opinions and experiences please and maybe lead me towards another LG phone, or just a very good phone with an IR blaster built in. Thanks.

      eric kream, the battery is bad, but it's ok. it doesn't overheat that much

      eric kream also, I just disable 4g when I don't need it. it's just three clicks to disable it, so it's not a big deal

      I have had the G3 for over 2 years now so I can give you an honest opinion. The G3 is a decent phone (was considered one of the best in summer 2014, but again that was over 2 years ago), with some noticeable flaws. As the first phone to come out with 2K resolution, or 2560x1440, it doesn't have the refinement that more recent 2K phones have. The colors are okay (not great), but it doesn't get very bright and any recent 2K AMOLED panel will beat it by a mile. Also it uses the outdated snapdragon 801, which can't really handle a 2K resolution with confidence, so the G3 has a few stutters and lags.
      Personally I am upgrading to the OnePlus 3, which is only $400, so not even that much more expensive than a new G3. On paper it looks way better in almost every way except the screen resolution, which is only 1080p. But, I think I will notice the vastly improved performance, more vibrant colors, and brighter display more than the decrease in resolution, so I consider the screen to be an upgrade as well. If you are really strapped for cash and can find a G3 at a great price, its definitely an option, but I would recommend something more recent. 2016 really is the year of budget smartphones; quite a few awesome smartphones like the OnePlus 3 and ZTE Axon 7 have come out at around the $400 mark that offer an experience comparable (or better than) the $800+ flagships of apple, samsung, and google. So if you've got even a little extra room in your budget, I would recommend going with one of those.

    Hey Marques, thank you for the awesome review. Because of this, I bought the LG G3 3 days ago. This is an awesome phone! It came with Android Lollipop and is so smooth. My last phone was a beat up iphone4, and am glad to finally be back to Android. My only complaint is the battery and the phone gets really warm sometimes. Other than that, it's a real pleasure to use. All the best.

      I would go with the s5, the iphone,cfrom what i heard bends in your pocket. The m8 is a decent phone, my friend has one but he dosent really like it. The s5 is overall probably the best phone out there in my opinion, besides the note 4

      Get the M8 if sound and design are most important to you, the S5 if you you want features even without aesthetics, get the iPhone 6 if ergonomics, performance, and a great app selection are important to you at the cost of customization, and the LG G3 if you want an all around good phone.

    I got the LG G3 on Christmas Eve, usually always on 90% brightness with automatic mode enabled, I have been getting at least 5 hours of screen on time through each charge. It was definitely a much needed upgrade from my old iPhone 4s. Performance is pretty amazing so far, would recommend it.

    I've had this phone for a couple months now. Really great overall, and have never gotten a notice about the phone being "too hot" and threatening to shut down. It does get hot if you use it for 10,15, 20 minutes straight but it cools pretty quickly. Also, I keep my phone between 60-70% brightness and it is perfect for indoors and outdoors

    The display is not that good at all besides resolution. Shitty shadows, over saturated, reduces brightness when it gets too hot. Don't get me wrong this phone is near perfect, but it's not the best display out. Just because of resolution.
