So you wouldn't see the back of the phone anyway. A few of the cases available for the s5 actually make it look really appealing, so if the aesthetics bother you, buy a case and stop being so foolish.

Decided to watch this since i'm upgrading from this to the s10 in the next few days. Despite the few issues ( like the flap which broke off after 3 years.... lasted longer then i thought) i haven't regreted my decision to buy amd use the phone for like 4 to 5 years. Also bloody hell it's durable. Im really clumsy yet the screen only broke last year in november, while yes it might be just cause i was lucky i think its good. So im gonna have alot of fond memories of using this phone and maybe keep it as a backup. So see ya s5 thanks for the memories, lets hope the s10 makes a many good ones
I used to have this phone. Used it for 3 years. Good memories of rooting and using loads of custom roms. The phone is trash stock but it was so good when you customised it.
Seeing this is beautiful..I have a working water damaged S5,haven't booted it since 2020,just got him working. It's beautiful.Its my favorite phone Samsung made.
The galaxy s5 is awesome. I don't have a complaint with the design . The fake metal on the side actually feels good to me when I pick it up , it gives my hands a cool feeling. The phone has a great camera which is common on a Samsung device. Touchwiz is highly customizable, but the gallery does lag, but not to the point where i get ticked off. The fingerprint scanner works well to me. 8 times out of 10 it works on the first time😂! But my overall experience is great, I give it a 97% out of 100% . If the gallery wouldn't lag and their wasn't to many carrier bloatware, I would give it 100! But it is a great device through and through!
Kyron Poullard When you say gallery lag are you just talking about the camera gallery? I'm thinking about getting this great device but if it lags regularly when just doing normal things like swiping through menus or surfing the internet I don't think I'll purchase it.
BieberSucksCock100 By lag I mean it take about 3 seconds to load the gallery, which isn't a big deal. But you will not be disappointed with this device
I find it really frustrating that they have released a new galaxy phone every year since the s3 (at least that's when I started keeping track). I got my s3 when it came out in 2012, then in 2013 it was already "old" due to the s4. Now it's "really old" due to the s5. I mean holy hell, slow down a bit. just my opinion though. Still have this phone, it does it's job doesn't lag for me. The Display quality is still great even comparing to the SmartPhone's of 2016. Battery gets 3 hours screen on time. Only thing is 16gb of internal storage is too low since you cannot move some apps on to SD card.
Awesome review! Still think I would go for the HTC One M8 simply due to the hardware benefits. Samsung just needs to make their hardware feel more "premium" compared to what they are doing now.
Alex Dierickx I tried them both and the camera isn't that bad....for me anyway...I'm a guy that only takes pictures on rare, special occasions so I use a dslr. if you want a phone for photos then definitely go for the s5 but other than that, the m8 just feels so much more worth it...try them both for a week..you'll see

It's so funny looking back at how everyone made fun of this phone for not being hard metal/glass all the way around. Nowadays, I think people would appreciate this type of design a lot more among the sea of glass sandwiches that we've been living with ever since the S6. I think textured backs are primed to make a comeback in the near future - they're way better to hold, and you can still make them feel premium if you use the right fabrics. It would actually be a cool selling point to not have to put it in a case, thus preserving its aesthetics.
There is lag on all Galaxy/Note devices in the Gallery. It's because they like to integrate picasa and any other cloud service that stores your photos into it. This causes it the huge lag when those services are trying to pull your saved photos. After you get rid of those it's 100x better.
I was just stating a fact that would cause his lag. In his case I'm sure he has his home media server set up, which gallery will pull everything including videos. I almost tossed my note 2 in the toilet until I figured it out.
This review feels rushed, you were wrong in a lot of things you said like the magazine and fingerprint scanner. Maybe you were super excited about your new Red camera but keep doing what you used to do and wait until you really know a product before making a review

I completely agree as he has made few mistakes in this review and feels rushed, i do have a S5 and no issues at all no lag it works flawlessly even in Gallery even though i have almost 900+ pics and videos + Flipboard aka My Magazine can be hidden and no issues with fingerprint scanner .... not being negative here about MKBHD i do love his work but this time and few times in the past he has been wrong.

I find it really frustrating that they have released a new galaxy phone every year since the s3 (at least that's when I started keeping track). I got my s3 when it came out in 2012, then in 2013 it was already "old" due to the s4. Now it's "really old" due to the s5. I mean holy hell, slow down a bit. just my opinion though. Nice review MKBHD!

Still have this phone, it does it's job doesn't lag for me. The Display quality is still great even comparing to the SmartPhone's of 2016. Battery gets 3 hours screen on time. Only thing is 16gb of internal storage is too low since you cannot move some apps on to SD card.
Lags as hell for me. But the screen still looks good
Awesome review! Still think I would go for the HTC One M8 simply due to the hardware benefits. Samsung just needs to make their hardware feel more "premium" compared to what they are doing now.

Alex Dierickx I tried them both and the camera isn't that bad....for me anyway...I'm a guy that only takes pictures on rare, special occasions so I use a dslr. if you want a phone for photos then definitely go for the s5 but other than that, the m8 just feels so much more worth it...try them both for a week..you'll see

I hate when people hate another phone manufactuar.All phones great. There the same but they do have there differences. Like the HTC one m8 has awesome speakers,sony xperia z2 is water and dust proof,samsung galaxy s5 has awesome features and is water and dust proof too,and iphone 5s has one of the smoothest interfaces ever. I dont hate any phone manufactuars cause there all amazing.(this is my opionion).
I still use my S5 in 2023 as an airplane-mode device. Not bad, Samsung! Stayin' alive.

It's so funny looking back at how everyone made fun of this phone for not being hard metal/glass all the way around. Nowadays, I think people would appreciate this type of design a lot more among the sea of glass sandwiches that we've been living with ever since the S6.
I think textured backs are primed to make a comeback in the near future - they're way better to hold, and you can still make them feel premium if you use the right fabrics. It would actually be a cool selling point to not have to put it in a case, thus preserving its aesthetics.

There is lag on all Galaxy/Note devices in the Gallery. It's because they like to integrate picasa and any other cloud service that stores your photos into it. This causes it the huge lag when those services are trying to pull your saved photos. After you get rid of those it's 100x better.

I was just stating a fact that would cause his lag. In his case I'm sure he has his home media server set up, which gallery will pull everything including videos. I almost tossed my note 2 in the toilet until I figured it out.

This review feels rushed, you were wrong in a lot of things you said like the magazine and fingerprint scanner. Maybe you were super excited about your new Red camera but keep doing what you used to do and wait until you really know a product before making a review

The finger print sensor also. He said he thought it was an error that it didn't ask him to swipe again. It's because you have to set the phone to lock immediately. By default it's set at 10 min *****

I completely agree as he has made few mistakes in this review and feels rushed, i do have a S5 and no issues at all no lag it works flawlessly even in Gallery even though i have almost 900+ pics and videos + Flipboard aka My Magazine can be hidden and no issues with fingerprint scanner .... not being negative here about MKBHD i do love his work but this time and few times in the past he has been wrong.
This was rushed. .magazine can be deleted and finger scanner can be adjusted so you always have to scan your finger every time
