I looked this up on my S22 Ultra 😅 Thus was my first Samsung phone and I remember good things about it. I felt that half the features were just a flex on other phones at the time 😅 Crazy how tech moves on but Samsung has definitely kept up. 👍

in regards to the flap. i know it's annoying to a lot of people,but i'm so so glad they put this on there. the reason is that i'm a carpenter. the #1 reason that i can't keep a phone working more than 6 months is 100% caused by dust. this keeps dust out of the port. so i'm happy about it

Mine screen got messed up less than a year. I wouldn't recommend since it happened to many people, the whole green screen because it would overheat
People hate on the s5 for it's exterior looks, but let's be realistic, how many of you do not buy a case for your phone to protect it? It's a silly decision not too after spending a fortune on it. So you wouldn't see the back of the phone anyway. A few of the cases available for the s5 actually make it look really appealing, so if the aesthetics bother you, buy a case and stop being so foolish.
Exactly! They could get decal like MKBHD or even replace the back cover with others from ebay. And I really hate it when people slap covers on their phones back. There's no added value.

Fun to watch about S5 after S24 Ultra release. That camera was impressive even at that time.

I just can't stand touchwiz ... Glad I went with the m8. The camera isn't awful. It's definitely not 16mp though. Still a great phone and I might not go back to the Galaxy S series at the rate they're going.

Decided to watch this since i'm upgrading from this to the s10 in the next few days. Despite the few issues ( like the flap which broke off after 3 years.... lasted longer then i thought) i haven't regreted my decision to buy amd use the phone for like 4 to 5 years. Also bloody hell it's durable. Im really clumsy yet the screen only broke last year in november, while yes it might be just cause i was lucky i think its good. So im gonna have alot of fond memories of using this phone and maybe keep it as a backup. So see ya s5 thanks for the memories, lets hope the s10 makes a many good ones

This review feels rushed, you were wrong in a lot of things you said like the magazine and fingerprint scanner. Maybe you were super excited about your new Red camera but keep doing what you used to do and wait until you really know a product before making a review

The finger print sensor also. He said he thought it was an error that it didn't ask him to swipe again. It's because you have to set the phone to lock immediately. By default it's set at 10 min *****

I completely agree as he has made few mistakes in this review and feels rushed, i do have a S5 and no issues at all no lag it works flawlessly even in Gallery even though i have almost 900+ pics and videos + Flipboard aka My Magazine can be hidden and no issues with fingerprint scanner .... not being negative here about MKBHD i do love his work but this time and few times in the past he has been wrong.
This was rushed. .magazine can be deleted and finger scanner can be adjusted so you always have to scan your finger every time

finger swipe doesn't have to be perfectly vertical. if you hold the phone like you'd normally would and swipe your thumb at the angle that feels natural, it will store it this way and it works for me every time

Why does RUclips keep on recommending me old MKBHD videos?! This is the fourth one from him I've gotten.
I used to have this phone. Used it for 3 years. Good memories of rooting and using loads of custom roms. The phone is trash stock but it was so good when you customised it.
There is lag on all Galaxy/Note devices in the Gallery. It's because they like to integrate picasa and any other cloud service that stores your photos into it. This causes it the huge lag when those services are trying to pull your saved photos. After you get rid of those it's 100x better.

I was just stating a fact that would cause his lag. In his case I'm sure he has his home media server set up, which gallery will pull everything including videos. I almost tossed my note 2 in the toilet until I figured it out.

For my 15th birthday watched this video and worked for summer to buy me this phone and was the first video I watched of MKBHD, happy 10th anniversary to me to finding this channel
I still use my S5 in 2023 as an airplane-mode device. Not bad, Samsung! Stayin' alive.
My experience with the Fingerprint detection was much more positive than yours, Marques. If you store on of the 3 fingerprints as your thumb on the hand holding the phone (so in other words, you are swiping your thumb sideways), then you can unlock with one hand. Worked great for me and eliminated the need for two hands... though the other two fingerprints were my thumb and pointer finger vertically as it looks like you had done. Anyways, that made it a little but more palatable.

Still have this phone, it does it's job doesn't lag for me. The Display quality is still great even comparing to the SmartPhone's of 2016. Battery gets 3 hours screen on time. Only thing is 16gb of internal storage is too low since you cannot move some apps on to SD card.

I don't have any problems with fingerprint scanner. I use fingerprint scanner daily and i don't have a problems with lock screen.All works perfect.
