It's 2020 and the G2 is one of my favorite phones of all time. After 6 months I cracked the screen. That was an awesome phone.
After installing LineageOS to G2 it got faster than my stock G6. G2 could be the best phone if we compare each phone to their years.

My sister had it. U had a brother with the G3, absolutely loved his phone too, and I myself bought the G4. Frankly an awesome phone. I wish I could have it with an actualized processor, a bit more ram and a bigger battery. Pretty happy with its camera module, even today.
I still think about this phone. One of the best phones ever made (at the time). I really wish new phones had the volume buttons on the back.
I miss it. The back buttons made a lot of sense.

The back volume buttons along with the ability to use the phone as a TV remote are what made me choose it all those years ago. I miss this and the G4 phones so much!
@@aleccino I'm still using my g4 (alongside a Huawei mate 10 pro), it has an insane handling experience, (the button on back and it curved shape help a lot). Haven't seen better since then in that area.

I have been with apple for more than 5 years. Thought I would never leave my iPhone. But ordered this phone last Friday and had the weekend to play around with it. And my gosh, I LOVE this phone! So much to do as far as customization! Apple will have to come out with something extravagant to win me back over because right now i'm on cloud 9! Love my new g2! =)

this G2 is LEGENDARY! Love absolutely everything about it, so proud that I owned one.
Still using this in 2018! Sold wireless phones in 2016/17 and could've upgraded easily/cheaply. Haven't found a new phone that had enough to warrant paying for a replacement. Still screams and battery's probably 70% capacity. GREAT phone!!

I love my G2 as well. I had the Nexus 5 for a few days then returned it for the the G2, the G2 has far better battery life and a joy to use. Very fast, no lag what so ever! Some people fuss over the UI, sure its not as clean as the nexus 5 but it works fine, customize your screens and enjoy, whats the problem?

your videos are lengthy..... but, it's generally very detailed and you don't feel the drag that you feel in PhoneArena videos....
You think his reviews are lengthy? Check out Erica Griffin, her reviews usually run 50 minutes plus, but they're the best reviews on RUclips in my opinion.
That's a matter of personal preference..... The sense of length is different for different people,....
bulldog521521 she does great indepth reviews and when I'm thinking of spending so much on a phone (like the note 3) it's great to get the detail (I decided not to get a note 3 because of several of the issues she identified). However, I also like having the short versions that Marques does. Good to have both!

I still dont understand why people feel that the UI of LG G2 is not good..!! I own LG G2 and i feel that LG is the only brand which has modified the stock android UI in the best way possible !! I just love the UI of LG G2 , its really useful and user friendly..
This phone started the attempts at shrinking bezels. Then people forgot about it for 2 years (even LG with G4 and G5...) and then it started to be the greatest thing.
Almost end of August 2018 and rocking Oreo 8.1 on my LG G2 and it FLIES...so easily...this phone is damn good.
The reason i don't like this review you kept talking about the nexus . nobody gives a fuck about the nexus we came for the g2 , you talked more about the nexus then the g2

I swung past here in memory of my LG G2 - my first android phone, and the first @mkbhd video I watched - Been a subscriber ever since!!
This video is a good example of how young and naive mkbhd is. He gives the g2 no credit at all, just talks about nexus devices the entire video as if the nexus is a superior phone just because it runs stock android. The G2 was and still is an amazing phone and now that it is running lollipop it should be widely recommended to everyone, especially that you can get one brand new unlocked for under 200 bucks.
He's comparing it to the nexus because lg was co making the nexus at the time and no doubt it's still better than the nexus 5 in speed and benchmark but it would seem throttled down because of lg heavy ui. but put a custom rom on it, it'll crush the nexus 5

Buy it but don't upgrade. You will lose those widgets apps on your lockscreen if you like them. On lollipop, its okay but it won't do anything unless you unlock your phone.

Yes you can,, i bought one 4 months ago,, gave my Sgs5 to my wife, and use this device daily,, i flashed Cyanogemod 12 on it,, runs like a beast,, crazy battery life, extremly fast,, friends a family with new phones are a bit jeaulous of the battery life and performance,, there is still a generation away from defeating this phone in performance and battery life,, im waiting for the next lg g5 or galaxy s7 to replace my lg g2 till now im happy with this phone, 06/08/15' ;)

The new kitkat update really did great things for this phone. Fixed the ugly notification bar, the skin looks cleaner all around, and the settings and overall speed were improved dramatically.
I still think this is an awesome LG phone in 2018

I thought I'd give my experience after owning the G2 for 5 months now. After 5 months of heavy use, the phone is still very fast. It boots in seconds and is quite stable. The recent KitKat update improved greatly the overall feel of refinement when using the phone daily. Battery life lasts for me all day with moderate calling use and heavy document viewing, emails, and news reading. The very first thing I did when I purchased the phone outright at ATT was install Nova Launcher Prime. After manually adjusting some settings, the UI is every bit as fast as a nexus phone. I highly enjoy it and can see myself using it for another year without any fear of it not handling the newest apps. It is a nice phone and for the money, one of the best deals if you're looking for a carrier-based phone.
I bought the phone,absolute beats of a phone..what battery life...definetly ppl should go for this phone...most under rated phone of the year

Gregory Perkins Hey I just ordered a white one, I've been using an Xperia Z with 5" screen. I wanted a bigger screen . If I like the LG2 when i get it I'll sell the Xperia Z on Ebay. Its a kick-ass phone but my eyes aren't that good and 5" is just a hair small.
I used the Xperia Z for 7 months. Beautiful screen, good camera
And it felt like a high end phone. I did have some trouble with it as far as software issues, etc. It was realy buggy for the last month I had it. This G2 I have now, I like it a lot. Its fast

I have owned the LG G2 for a month or so and it really is a joy to use. The specs are amazing and you can really feel it!!! I could be running so many apps/programs and it doesnt slow down a bit. Greatly reccommend!!

previously on many other android phones low mid to end.... now I bought a used G2 for 100usd(myr)... the battery life was mediocre, solution: flashed CM14.1/crdroid..... the camera app isnt good....download the camera mod for 7.0.... now its okay

I don't know after reading lot of new LG G2 owners complaining about their phone after the Kitkat update. That's the only reason I'm holding off to purchasing this phone. I think I should have gotten the HTC One(M7). That phone is a year old and it's SOLD OUT on Verizon. I have to wait for a month to receive it if I purchased it.
I have an iPhone and I don't think I'll ever sell it cause it's as good as it was in the beginning... with the exception of the overly hyped 7.1.1 iOS.
Don't listen to the Iphone fanboys. My wife just got an LG G2 and she loves it. This is her 3rd Android phone. We're jumping ship from Motorolas to LGs.
It's like most phones, it has it's pro's and con's. I took a video on the LG of my son's wedding and it's nowhere to be found on my phone. Very pissed about that!!!!!!!!!

I had the S4 and now the G2 for me the G2 is a better phone than the S4, insane battery life nicer design love the edge to edge screen and no UI large unlike on the S4

Best buy sells this for 200 bucks atm. Just got mine 2 days ago. Exellent phone :P. It's a verizon version, but i'm using it on a tmobile network haha.

Surprised I found a store that carried the phone. I just hope my LG G2 last longer than my iPhone or Droid X.

Brian Dang so you bought it for $200. And its a Verizon version but how are you using it for T-Mobile? I've been looking for this phone but sadly they don't have it on a T-Mobile store anymore
Everything_ is_Awesome Three steps process when you get this phone. First, you need to get out of the activation screen(volume up, down, and menu). Then you need to go to mobile network and change the system select from CDMA to GLOBAL. Third, you need to change the APN setting for it. Google the tmobile LTE APN setting.
This phone was so ahead of its time with its big full HD screen, thin bezels, big battery, and awesome camera. Even 5 years later, it isn't dated.

Joshua Duarte G4 is also a good phone but I dislike it's shape, it's sharper edges and the mediocre snapdragon 808 inside it (that wasn't LG's fault because qualcom f*cked up with their snapdragon 810) LG G2 is still the best phone that LG made to date.
agree. even they say "they have much better phones" the g2 will still be the king of all the lg phones

I like the idea of buttons on back of the phone. It looks like new generations of phones with no buttons, and the unlock way of phone tapping twice on the screen is just brilliant. Pretty cool dont you think?

My G2 spent 45 minutes at the bottom of a waterproof backpack with a 1 liter water bottle that wasn't properly closed.
It was submerged from the bottom to the top.
I wasn't home when I discovered that so I've shaken my phone in order to get rid of a bit of water and I placed it in my pocket.
(My G2 is European and this version don't have a removable battery.)
Five hours after, I was finally at home. I've disassembled the G2, wiped the water (gosh, there was a lot) and put the pieces in rice for 48 hours.
I reassembled it... and everything was fine apart the back power button.
I've bought replacement buttons and they're fixed. It's been two month now, everything is still working fine: cameras, mics, usb port, etc...

I watched this in 2019! Certainly, not comparable to the current phones, but definitely a fantastic LG phone at that time!

Because they ususally slow the phone down, and there ia a lot of bloatware in skins. Best skin is sense 6 thats for sure.

I doubt you'd see this on such an old video.. but I came across a list, of all the videos that I have ever liked.... this was number 1! Funny... I had no idea who you were... or how big you'd become. I ended up buying this phone because of you... and it is still to this day, one of my favorite phones, I've ever had! It really was pretty good, and the camera, back then, really was that fantastic! It sits in a drawer now, but I do still have it.
oh yeah! And I actually kinda miss the buttons on the back... I mean... your finger, it sits right there!!

I bought this phone almost a year ago... I'm soooo satisfied about this purchase that i can't use any other phone... It's way better than my sisters Samsung S5 and way better that LG g3... LOVE IT !! I will change it only for LG V10 and not for LG g5....
I have been using the g2 since Dec. It work perfectly for me! And what i really love is the amazing buttery life n camera (which i think it better than most phone out there).

great reviews! I decided to get the g2. It's amazing, one of the best phones I've used. I have an HTC One that I've been using since it came out and an s4 for work purposes. The g2 is streets ahead of the s4. The HTC feels better and has better audio than the g2 (and is also better than the s4). But I'm sticking with the g2 because of the screen, battery & design (ui and the back button).
Changing the default system font to Serif makes text look a lot sharper. And pressing the switches in the notification pull down (WiFi, Bluetooth etc) brings up the relevant menu (much like on the s4, but this is sooooooo much better!). I nearly went for the note 3 but after using it for a few days found it just too big, needing to use a phone one handed from time to time. The g2 is an ideal size. Though I'd like to move the back button up half a centimetre (camera would need to shift somewhere else). I now find I expect the volume and on/off button to be on the back- I wouldn't have thought of it but in the back is such a great place to have these keys.
So I've got this phone, and it's absolutely incredible, but!! There's a few things. If you're gonna keep this phone in your pocket (which is what dudes normally do because we don't tend to carry purses lol) then you should either buy a case for this phone ASAP or try and minimize the amount of stuff you carry in that same pocket. Not because the phone is thick, it's not, you can see in the video that it's pretty slim... But the thing is, with the way the buttons are located, other stuff can be pressed against the buttons while you walk. I've had the phone take a lot of photos of the inside of my pocket for example, because by pressing and holding the volume down button you go into camera mode, and by pressing it again and again you'll just keep taking photos. So with every step I took, it was a new photo.
So then I made the mistake of changing the way I put the phone in my pocket, and had the buttons face my leg. I hadn't thought about the fact that the screen would be facing anything else I decided to carry in the pocket, so my wallet zipper ended up scratching the screen a little bit.
Overall though I'm very satisfied with this phone, but I thought I would just let you guys know about these inconveniences I've had with it. Hopefully this can help you guys avoid the problems I've had!
I feel like LG read my mind before making this phone and I gotta tell you they almost nailed it. It is a phone that was given strict instruction not to interfere with your life. Meaningful features that make you wonder if the other guys even care about what you want. Excellent battery, superb camera, splendid display, great camera, good sound (earphones), knock to turn on and off, TV remote, Snapdragon 800, handwriting screen note, multitasking that actually works, answer pop up incoming calls without leaving your page, I mean I can go on and on. If this phone was made by Apple or Samsung it would have been flying off the shelves. But name recognition could be a reason this phone might still struggle for now. I know a quality phone when I see one.

i have bought this phone for christmas, because of this review. Just couldn't imagine other phone to buy, cuz this one is just simply amazing. And in the first day i bought it, i had a update for camera, so now you can tap to focus (tracking focus) while recording video, and some minor bug fixes for knock knock ( first day i could just hold finger on screen and shake phone to unlock, now it is fixed :)) Love this phone. 'In my opinion best phone of 2013 for sure. If not your review, posibility i would not consider to buy new phone at all. Thank you Marques!

I was going through a magazine for phones to buy, and this was right next to the S4, and not only is it considerably cheaper, it has a processor almost as good as the S5!
I loved this phone. The only problem is it wasn't like the South Korean version with expandable memory and maybe a tv antenna.
