      I've been using Cleveland wedges for years. I have a RTX3 56* mid bounce and a RTX 2.0 62* low bounce that I'm about to upgrade to an RTX4 with the same specs. Best wedges on the market, imho.

    I bought the 56. After years of playing blades, I switched a few years ago to more forgiving irons, due to reduced play. Using the same reasoning, I bought the 56 degree CBX2. I really love it. My short game has really improved, probably more due to confidence. Looking down on it, it looks great, not too big and looks like a legit wedge.

    Just bought a 50• CBX2 as a gap wedge at the recommendation of my fitter. I currently game Cleveland 56• and 60• wedges and wanted a gap for more full shots. So far, this is working great and looks and feels very similar to my other wedges!

  •  4 года назад

    Got them June 20 and have played two rounds. 50/54/58 and sensational results. Spin even from rough is amazing and the feel is amazing and getting the distances I need for different shots. My pal asked me if they were legal as his jaw dropped observing the stop and spin. Best wedges I have ever used.

    I love these wedges. I was fitted for gapping. Went from 52 56 60 I'm the bag to 48, 54, 58. Broke 80 twice since purchase having never done before. My shot tracking shows that these clubs are getting me closer to the flag on approach shots, which is lowering my putts per round. Lovely!

    I like that you are testing this. I’m off 13 and I moved from the Vokey wedges to the CBX (from last year). I changed because I like the idea of the forgiveness of the cavity back, versus the more blades Vokey. Even though I play the P790 irons. I like this new wedge you got there!

    Great review. Was fitted for volkeys indoors on a mat, but never had success gaming them. Then I started buying used wedges at diff lofts/grinds and bounces just to test them out on the course. I ended up settling on Cleveland CBX'S and love them. Have 52/56/60 degrees... I can lob my CBX 60 over a bunker at 30yds without hesitation......lol

    Great video! As a player who lives on an Island and plays at a course where there are not that many opportunities to get fitted for clubs, the “buy off the shelf” has to be my regular way of acquiring new clubs. As someone who is in need of new wedges, I would love to try one of these new CBX2. Thank you and keep up the good content!

    You hit the nail right on the head Mark, we don't all have the luxury of being able to take clubs out on the course to play and test (which is a great shame) so we have to go by reviews like yours (the people we trust) and hit them in a studio which is something I personally find difficult, especially with wedges. It looks to me as though Cleveland have done a great job for the majority of players and good on em! I'll be trying the sand and lob version to go with my new Cobra F9's as soon as possible. Great review as always boy's.

    Another important aspect to make wedge players easier is a shaft choice. Can you comment on this. My current Mizuno S5 wedges have the XP-95 R300 shafts to match my irons. Most wedges have a very stiff shaft which might be good for faster harder hitting players but not good for slower swing speeds like seniors and ladies.

  • @NickHarvey81
    @NickHarvey81 5 лет назад

    Hi Mark, another reason that people don't get fitted that you haven't touched on is the second hand club market, I've bought several second hand clubs and as a result fitting wasn't an option. Would love a shiny new 60 degree wedge I wasn't fitted for either to go with um!

    testing wedges inside and outside is vital! Totally agree.

  • @joesector9586
    @joesector9586 5 лет назад

    Liked the idea of these as soon as I heard about them. Finally got to try them outside. Results were so-so. Wedges these days come with steel, "wedge flex" shafts. These have a very harsh feel for me and I get no launch and no distance. So I just change the shafts to a graphite, lite flex shaft which matches my irons and get the distance, height and feel I like. Might try that with a CBX2.

    I know this is an older thread, but my 2 cents on these wedges. I started with the Smart Sole chipper and sand wedge. I moved to the CBX2 54 and 60 as my game improved. I have been very pleased with my decision. I can play a variety of shots using the 54 and 60. Bunkers don't scare me anymore. I can de-loft or add loft depending on what I need to do. I find them very forgiving but they're not going to fix a bad strike completely. I play a mid level urethane ball, which also makes a huge difference for me. I'm a real fan of Cleveland products.

  • @ThorinOakenshieldGSD2023
    @ThorinOakenshieldGSD2023 5 лет назад

    Mark, I am currently gaming the CBX2 in 52 degree. One thing to note about the game improvement market is that golfers such as myself that choose these wedges are willing to pay more. When I walked into my golf retailer I could buy my normal Callaway Mac Daddy 4 at a price of $109.00 regardless of loft, I could buy the Titlist Vokey SM7 for $109.00, and the same price for the Cleveland RTx4, but my 52 degree CBX2 was $139.00 if I wanted a 60 degree it was $149.00. For the last few years I have played the evolving line of Callaway wedges and currently have 54 degree and 58 degree Mac Daddy III in my bag. I play Southern California courses from Long Beach to San Diego. As I looked to start replacing my wedges I tested a range, and it came down to the Ping 2.0 and the Cleveland CBX2. Well the Ping would have been less expensive, I preferred the turf interaction of the CBX2, well still being a wedge I could open up. I don't have many rounds on it yet, but it does give me confidence the ball will get up. I like the weight and feel. My next round I will be testing it with a new innovation the Callaway Magna oversized ball. I wasn't looking for a new ball, but my playing partner 10.2 rating said I had to give it a go. First reaction out of the box not good, 3 of the 12 balls had imperfections. With the CBX2's large head, forgiving properties I look forward to see how they do together.
    It is one thing for you to test the clubs but for those of us higher handicap players who used to be better than we are today the help is worthwhile. Long gone are my days of persimmon headed woods, and blade style irons. I accepted a larger head on my driver just as I did on my tennis racket, hybrids replacing irons, and cavity backed irons replacing blades and muscle backs. Now I am dumping the traditional wedge for one that gives me the help of engineering. diabetic nephropathy in hands and legs and a bad back mean my strokes are less about feel and more about process. I will take all the help I can get. You need a high handicapper to compare these clubs.

    I used to play the old RTX CB’s a few years ago, and it was the best my Wedge game ever was. I started getting better at the game, switched to more blades, and have been up and down ever since. I am seriously considering putting these in da bag for 2020. I was playing with one in my local store, and was pleased how nice it felt. My wife needs her CG16’s replaced as well, might be a lot of Cleveland in the future of our household.

    I really like this wedge. I am a true 10 handicap at the moment. I play AP3 irons down to P wedge which is 43 degrees. I'm a Callaway guy. I've been playing "bladed wedges" MD 3 50* and MD Forged in 54* & 58*. I recently added a 46* MD3 wedge after watching your video on pitching wedge or special wedge and couldn't be happier. I was able to maintain the same carry distance with lower trajectory and more spin. And it's also is more handy around the greens. But I do think these CBX2's are interesting in that they're is game improvement in these, but look pretty classic at address.

    Another solid review team! I'm actually playing with three different brand wedges for three different lofts, one of which is a Cleveland. Others are a Vokey and TMade. The Cleveland i would say gives me the most confidence for full shots closer to 100 yards, compared to the vokey I prefer for around the greens. Not sure if this is normal or not?

    I play the CBX 1.0 in 52 and 56. They have really changed my short game! Far fewer mishits around the greens and can still open it up and flop it when I want to. My favorite thing about them is they still resemble my Vokeys or 588.

    I play the original CBX wedges in 50, 54 and 58 degrees. They replaced the Mizuno S18 wedges that I had problems with playing consistently. I've found the CBX wedges to be much more forgiving and consistent for my 8.5 index game. My irons are Mizuno 919 Hot Metals so these blend well. I highly recommend them if "standard" blade wedges are not performing for you.

    I bought a 54 degree CBX2 and just received it for this past weekend on the golf course and I also took it back to the driving range the next day. I noticed right away that it is significantly lighter than my Ping G irons and my 60 degree Taylormade bigfoot Hi-Toe wedge. I can hit it well as a full wedge and half wedge, but found it more difficult to use around the green. My Bigfoot wedge is great for all those shots around the green and is a very heavy wedge with a large sole. Maybe I just need more practice with it, but the weight being so much lighter caused me to lose some touch and feel around the green. Full to half shots are where I plan on using it.

    Have been gaming 54 and 60 CBX wedges for 18 months, bought them off the shelf and have generally been pleased with them. I use cavity backed irons so it seemed like the obvious way to go.

    Had a CBX2 58 Rotex graphite for quite a while and always found it great as long as I did my stuff!
    Paired this week with CBX Zipcore 46 and 52 also Rotex. Absolutely love them. So much control and spin. I would say marginally Zipcore is better but nothing in it.

    This season I've gamed cbx wedge 50 and 56. I'm keeping the 50 and going for more specialized 56 and 60.
    I'm a lefty so If I win this I giving it to a friend, he needs this kind of wedge

    Great video Mark. I think the market for this club might be for people who are learning their short game without the help of professional lessons and this "all rounder" might be the first addition to their 5 iron to sand wedge iron set.

    Currently have the Mack Daddy 4 wedges but looking to change to a Cavity back wedge to add some consistency to my high handicap ways.

    I play srixon z585 iron's which finish at 50 degrees A wedge. I'm pleased with your review as I will be trying this wedge. Thanks for your efforts.

    I currently game the CBX (previous version) in 54 degree and I really like this club. Not sure if there is a big difference between the CBX and CBX2 if there are any. Would love to put this club in my bag. Thanks for all the content!!!

    Interesting concept of a cavity back wedge. I do not hit a lot of full specialty wedge shots.I wonder, does it really help for partial shots and pitching and chipping?

    Have the cbx 1 in 54 and 60 and they’re great. It’s an option that more mid/high handicappers should use with there cavity irons.
