How to use Azami:
Step 1: Lament that there's like 10 categories of accessories that are borderline useless and just take up space in the inventory making it take longer to find the stuff you'll actually use.
Step 2: Realize that they could have made an accessory that caps your max hp at 30% in combat, but they didn't.
On the topic of Azami as a character, I feel like there should have been a Heart-to-Heart or Blade Quest that explores her fixation on her Driver and how she'll forget them when they die. Would've been great for character development and potentially even an updated affinity chart like with Dagas.
Dark types and breaking the game over their knee once you fulfill all of the weird requirements, name a more iconic duo
She was my first rare Gatcha blade. I opened her in Torigoth right at the start and I used her until around Land of Morytha. I just wanted to experiment with some of the other blades, I never stopped loving Azami, and I never will. (She won't let me.)
I will never forget how blown away I was the first time I successfully utilized her low HP setup. It wasn't even in a chain attack, just a regular old blade combo and her lvl 3 did more damage than i had ever seen in the game by 200k at least.

I still think back to when this game was new and people got freaked out summoning Azami blindly for the first time.

@Moose Actually, I think Agate would be next because he got her when he thought he was going to get Adenine because he'd miscounted his pity points. (and then he got Adenine anyways because he didn't realize that Agate had Keen Eye)

@@syco7274 There's a RUclipsr named Chuggaaconroy (chugga for short) currently doing a let's play of XC2 and so far Enel's blade guides for the not guaranteed blades have been happening in the same order that Chugga has awakened them.
It's because he assisted Chugga with some of the knowledge for his LP
Why use Azami: good design, and extremely powerful in specific scenarios.
Actual reason to use Azami: she's voiced by Chiwa Saitou(Senjougahara from Monogatari, and is just a very amusing blade overall.

I always find it funny how pissed she gets when you send her away on a merch mission, even the ones she WANTS TO DO after her sidequest! Like, girl, make up your mind.

I find it funny that every driver gaining an unbeatable effect on their ng+ skill tree (Tora excluded because he has it on his normal chart) benefits Azami more than Herald.
Also Azami is basically blade Tharja but slightly less creepy.

Also for Pain of Longing not starting a battle with Azami can help. You can get Hunter's Chemistry's effect on a different Blade (ex. Shulk) then swap to Azami and she will hit max Affinity very fast by herself. Then you have two Blades at max Affinity in less than a minute. It's a pretty convenient skill from my experience.
Gotta admit, she might be a bit quirky and creepy, but she definitely grew on me. Glad she was one of my first blades (and also one of the first blades of the totally unknown source for the order of rare blades)

Azami is my favorite rare blade so i had to comment on this one thank you for making these guides i just got all rare blades to S+ rank a few months ago so these videos make me feel like i didnt waste my time
I finished the damn stupid Poisoned Paradise challenge with Asami and Herald. No way in hell I'm doing that fight again. 🖕
Thanks a lot for this guide Enel. I have the feeling Asami is the perfect choice for that specific challenge. She really hits like a truck. The fact you can get 916% damage increase at 1HP on Specials makes her the perfect glass cannon.

Azami is one of my favourite blades in the game based on her design. She’s got such a cool design. I’m glad she has a very defined solid play style in the right hands
Ah Azami, a blade that is special in my heart. I summoned her along with Zenobia back to back on Zeke. I loved using both of them along with Pandoria in order to fulfill the Break-Topple-Launch combo and had Morag Smash. And I ran the Loincloth since all 3 were female. This was all before I entered New Game+.
Azami is definitely in the top 5 blades that greatly suffer looks wise from using a non tachyon core chip. her weapon is so unique. such a shame
The ability to revert appearances singlehandedly justifies the Tachyon Chip for most Blades in my opinion.
Chuggaa's LP actually does have a really good example of how clutch Azami is when low on Hp. I think she just shredded a full HP bar in one special.

ah the first rare blade I pulled. i remember being upset with her because it took me halfway through the game to realize you had to go find and complete her quest to get her tier three abilities
Minor correction about Vendetta, it triggers when the Driver takes damage, not when they evade. All Ether Spikes in the game (excluding only Aegaeon's talent art in Torna) trigger with damage taken. Physical/Strength spikes are the ones that trigger with evades/dodges (the English in-game descriptions for these effects are complete garbage).
Doesn't make the skill that much better or useful, but at least it kinda makes sense for a Blade whose entire purpose is to take damage for higher DPS (if only Spike Damage scaled better in this game...).
It's still useless but this is good to know, I figured since it was the same description it was likely the same thing. Shows what I know about obscure bad skills LOL
11:30 I assume this it the Orb Master skill at work? The dark orb just suddenly was there, and then once the chain attack started there were two orbs.

Azami is one of my favorite blades in the game. I love her design and her creepy personality is interesting.
One of my personal favourites if design and personallity are concerned. Gameplay wise... Honestly not a huge fan. Not really a fan of her playstyle as it's a little too risky for me (says the Herald supremacist), but I can definitely see why she's so highly thought of.
I've said it before, but we need an accessory that locks your HP to below 30%

I had no idea she's a low-key chain attack juggernaut. Very niche with only having additive damage on specials.
Solid video as always, though I was wondering if you could show the formula for Azami and similar such "high-risk, high-reward" type blades in written form.
As someone who struggles with Math, I've found that being able to see and hear an explanation of an equation really helps to understand them better.
(e.g. After hearing your description at 2:56, I had to double-check if having a high Max HP would effect the Health% modifiers used in calculating "All For Love's" formula, even though you explained it more clearly at 3:14...)
having high max hp will help technically but having more ether is better. The formula isn't all that important to know, I just wanted to mention it since it does technically exist.

Best blade or not, Azami was the first rare blade I ever got and she is always on my team. She is awesome and psycho, I love it!
It would have been nice to have All for Love's formula displayed on the video and maybe even a graph of it.
I chose not to simply because ultimately its not THAT important to know, just wanted to briefly mention it. the important thing is, lower hp is better and it increases expontentially.

I’ve seen this in a few of the guides and I was wondering if you could elaborate?
For the level 4 specials, sometimes the damage ratio on screen is different to the one shown in the datamine (like Azami’s being 400 but it being marked with +500 in the video). I was curious as to where this extra damage comes from? Does it not count damage from Driver hits and you’re adding those in?

basically level 4 specials have a driver ratio added to it which is +500. This added to the blade's ratio is the total ratio I mention in videos. These hits are technically independent of a blades hits and have slightly different properties. Special level 4 animations like story blades usually don't have that though.

Vendetta is such a laughable skill to have on anything due to how poorly spike damage scales to enemies because of the huge hit point difference between drivers and enemies.
That skill could have been another damage multiplier or something else that helps Azami's playstyle.
Azami's playstyle is very reminiscent to the very old and obsolete Reversal + Endure and Salac Berry strat in the Pokemon games. It doesn't work in those games because it's way too easy to stop this combo with priority, Rocky Helmet or any other form of residual damage.

Is there a pastebin somewhere with every single under the hood calculation the game does, and their exact formulas? I couldn't follow along with that formula at all and seeing as you didn't write it down, I have no idea how to interpret it at all.
It should be noted I'm asking simply because I want to know every single formula in the game, no matter how pointless it is. I just want to know how to find them because I can't seem to find any such documentation.
unfortunately there is not, even this one was derived from a lot of things in the code based on what the skill values were.

i playes this game for a long time but never understood what stuff like an ether mod is. Like, and that's probably what it is, is it a damage multiplayer for ether attack on performing an art or for the base stat?

The Auto Attack maxing out at 1594 and not a clean 1600 is really bothering me.

Hey Enel, whenever you do your videos, what difficulty of the game do you play on? My presumption would be normal, as when I try and recreate your tactics on BoC, the damage and chain attack multiplier isn’t on par, even though I don’t have the best of the best equipment, it’s still pretty good. Just wondering if you’d do anything different on BoC or the hardest custom difficulty
chain attacks were nerfed into the ground on bringer of chaos, most of this stuff is for normal, I mention stuff about BoC if a blade is really good for that. You have to be more defensive for a lot of blades for sure.
@@EnelXC ooohhhhhh that explains a lot then, i did notice my non-chain attack strategies weren’t nearly as effective, so my battles ended up being an upwards of 20 min+. I saw you did a video on it highlighting the DoT builds you did. A potential video idea i present would maybe be an analysis of the difficulties and what you’d do differently for each or something along those lines. Thanks for the reply 👍

That formula you described doesn't make any sense to me. From the way you worded it I got that it should be (1.136^(1+(0.5^(1-(current_HP / max_HP)))))+(1-(current_HP / max_HP)). However, this cannot under any circumstances reach the 766% bonus that you described. The limit as max HP approaches infinity is just above 221%. What am I missing that brings this in line with the described 766% damage bonus?
don't remember off hand but I do know it does cap out at 766 as it's an exponential formula.

and of course the game doesn't tell you which special is a.o.e., which are more a.o.e. than others, their animation length, # of hits, or which specials between blades share the same effects. it's unique for each blade out of the whopping *53* total.
