I did not know to change the filter screen below the sensor, but I wish I did. I am now getting oil filter alarms that probably have to do with the filter screen clogging. Sadly, I will probably have to pull the oil pressure sensor again just to replace the filter screen.
....and here we go. Have the same truck (year/model) and have (or had) the same problem with the oil pressure sensor. So, as all my peeps know my favorite saying is "RUclips is our friend" and I have fixed many items courtesy of "our friend". This time was no different - starting the job meant I had to work myself into the work space and at that point I stopped and on a whim called the local car repair guys I use when something is beyond my capabilities, I really don't want to do it or it's too cold to git'r dun. They quoted me $500 because their process requires them to remove the manifold - I thanked them, came in and reviewed this video again and made it happen. Great video, keep them coming because I really love my Silverado. Kudos!!!
I had been struggling for an hour+ till I found this video. Also I broke the oil pressure line is there anywhere I could order it from local auto parts don't carry it
I am not sure about the oil pressure line part number. Might have to get a parts store to identify it and order it from them or online, if you can find it. Seems like a common part.
Because nobody actually explains it, when your getting the electric plug off pull the white tab up and the there is a black tab holding the plug on, so you'll push the black tab in a pull the plug. Then from there itll be easier to have a extension and a swivel to get the sensor off. Once you get that off your going to want to take a small screwdriver or a pick to get the filter out and put the new one in. Then put your new sensor on tight, plug should go right on (unless you broke something), make sure the white tab is down, reconnect everything you took off to get back there and start her up...this is what i learned in 2 days
I have an 0'12, and having the same annoying Ass issue, I am hoping a flush will clear it up. Waiting for for warmer temperatures. My truck lives outside, and I have to work on it, in an uncontrolled environment ( Canada ). The idiot lights and bell sounds are driving me bonkers. Especially the service engine soon light, when it is on, I cannot command start it.(comes off and on as well) Oh yes, that five three purrs away like a kitten, nothing wrong with it at all. GM and their stupid screen below the sensor.
I am not sure what will happen. However, I imagine that the truck will still run the same way it does when there is oil pressure sensor failure. You will probably get a similar code. It will look like an open circuit with no sensor plugged in. I am not sure if the oil pressure is used for any calculation that determines how the engine runs. That would be my main concern leaving it out long term. Personally, I would not want to drive without any oil pressure indication.
@@mchenrykramer I agree, however my 13 Silverado just showed 0 oil pressure today and a very nice old man and his wife stopped driving a yota... lol... he said my truck don't even have a oil pressure gauge. so in reality when vehicles don't have gauges as some don't just " gas and water temp" gauges. you'd never know until it starts knocking. opinion just a cost and a nuisance. to have the sensors.
No need to take off the grey tab. Just pull it up. Also better to change the filter screen below the sensor if you have one

How do you get the filter out
Thank you so much for showing that gray tab. Nobody else was showing how it worked. Really appreciate it.!!

THANKS FOR SHOWING THE CLIP
Good deal man! Bout to change my sensor on my 13 5.3 Silverado as well. Thanks for the input on how to do it!
Thanks for the details on the white tab and removing the connector. The recommended torque is 26 ft lbs -312 inch lbs.

Thanks for this man
Great info help me save a band easy
Yes it helped. All other videos don't say anything about the keeper.
Excellent video
Dropped my dang socket back down in there somewhere. Omg can't find it so gotta get another to finish the job. Just hope I can eventually find it
I lost the damn piece behind 😢
😂 i think this happened to everyone. Must be a sacrifice to the oil pressure sensor gods.
Thanks! Wasted time after pulling up the tab, before I knew to squeeze.
That grey/white tab has been one of the most frustrating things ever
I had been struggling for an hour+ till I found this video.

Silly question. I lost my white tab. Do you know if I can order another one any where
I don't know, but I broke one of the tabs and put everything back in place the best I could and no problems so far.

How do u get the filter out under the oil pressure sensor
Sorry, I did not change my filter when I made this video. I think of others may have changed there's from the comments.
Use a pick tool and fish it out
A paint can pry tool fits perfectly!

Can someone give me some insight to what would make a chirping sound from somewhere on a 2012 5.3 v??
I have never dealt with a chirping sound.
@@mchenrykramer tourque converter?, Oil pump?
@@robcline5680 not sure. That's getting out of my wheelhouse.
That's not an oil pressure line, it's part of the pcv system 😅😅😅
What would happen if I just unplug it and leave it off ??

Bro it's not as easy as the other RUclipsrs make it out to be. The space is tight, the plug could be in a bad position.
Don't forget the screen
Did mine for the 3rd time. Don’t know why it keeps going out?
Mine doesn't even have a clip - discovered just now. And I don't know who I watched that said a 27mm deep would do it but they fucking lied. 🙃
No joda que dolor de bola escuchar a este ahora farta que diga que fue a pescar y tomar cervezas
I don't know if the Google translation is correct, but this is the best comment by far, regardless.
No hate but I got it done in about 30 minutes but yes it sucked bad
Nice! That's why I posted, it took me awhile to figure it.
Too much unnecessary information
Sorry, just trying to capture my efforts and what I struggled with in hopes it helps someone else. I am not into editing videos and such.
Don't buy them.
Which things?
Worst video don’t know the size socket don’t know if u pulled filter under the sensor
See the pinned video
