Without this video I'm not sure I would have figured it out. I watched the same videos of guys just reaching back there and pulling it right off. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the video. I have a 2011 GMC Sierra February 2018 at a GMC dealer and I spent 400 dollars to get it fix. Today, the oil pressure sensor went bad today and I'm trying to fix it myself.
Agreed!! thank you bud!! helped immensely. I used dielectric grease LIBERALLY on the connector so this will be easier IF it happens again in the future. Thank you!! - DTM
THANK YOU! You just saved me from setting my truck on fire! I’ve been trying to get this off for about an hour and have two bust fingernails and a skined knuckle. Used the small Allen as suggested and it popped right off
...funny ... I was telling my mechanic, I was hoping he was "calling me to tell me the truck caught fire and was a total loss!!" LOL!! I cant be that "lucky". ...been tired of ALL of the "ding dongs" and "dummy lights" happening the past year!! LOL!! Tip#1: I replaced ALL of the under-hood fuse-box fuses (use dielectic grease LIBERALLY!!)... THAT TOOK CARE OF ALL THOSE "DING DONGS"!! Tip#2: REPLACING ALL THE UNDERHOOD FUSES TOOK CARE OF MY "airbag" dummy light ON TOO!! I had that airbag replaced I (recall) n July '21, and the dealer said, "The airbag light probably wont go off")... well BS!!... IT WENT OFF Once all the fuses under-hood were replaced!! just a hint/tip thats all...To NO MORE "DING DONGS"!! LOL!! Tip #3: "Stabiltrak" OFF when turning steering wheel left!!!... "DING DONG"!!! fixed this too!! (SWPS) Steering Wheel Position Sensor!! Done!! "Ding Dongs" GONE!! good luck folks... DTM
dude. you rock. was doing this on my 2011 yukon denali hybrid (possibly less room) and cursing after 45 minutes just trying to undo the clip. I needed more of a grip so used a "free" paint can opener from home depot i had after trying the allen wrench approach and shocked myself when it popped off. thank you seriously... had scoured for other videos. Dont forget to slide the white tab lock up first..
Holy hell, who would of thought a Allen wrench would be so handy. I fought my clip on my 09 for an hour, my 2011 clip out in 5 min. I had to look for this video again just so I could Thank you for the tip.
Allen wrench good idea, thanks for making this video what you said in the beginning about maxing out and then going to zero is exactly what mine did! Didn't think it would trip the check engine but make sense cos you were right about that, it came on as well and I would guess like you said it is pressure switch related.
Thnk u..ive watched several vids on the replacement of this part, ur explanation on how u replaced this prt was very informative & clearly easy too understand..thnks for the video, grt job
If you squeeze the top of the release and then slide a flathead into the front gap on the baffle and ease upwards, you can save yourself a world of heartache. Don't get me wrong. This replacement sucks. My wrists are bruised and I shed a couple of knuckles, but did this job today. Thanks to David for the walkthrough, which really helped, but a hex key or hook is not necessary on a 2011.
I needed this.... Im having the same struggle. its funny I thought the same about them reaching right behind there and popping that connector off like nothing. thank you for the tip im going to try this tonight.
Some great tips for sure. However, he didn't mention the mesh filter that is inserted in and under the pressure switch. That filter likes to clog up and cause low or we eratatic fluctuations in oil pressure. New filter costs 7 bucks on line. Screw out the switch, reach in the hole with a hooked pick or similar, snatch it and pull it out. Slide in new one , open end down, and screw in the switch. Prolly don't need the filter, but , put one in to protect the switch from clogging I figure.
The gray part of the clip is a safety, no need for the Allen wrench just pull up on the gray part then depress the clip below it, it will slide right off.
What was your symptoms I just got my truck back from the trans shop replaced the transmission it works great ! Take it for a drive and lose all oil pressure power down engine etc...
Find a 3/8 bolt that fits width of new screen, then after old sensor removal thread bolt into old screen pull out. Then just gently insert it into new screen and put it in hole and slowly back the bolt out. Also screw that sound guard,my trucks 10 years old 150,000,I snipped a small square above the sensor so I could see clearly.Up with safety tab, push it in pull up,Piece of cake. This is a good video, but there is way better ones out there in more detail.
Micheal Snell I did not but you are right there is a little filter underneath. I did not try to get it out which would be hard but had no issues afterwards
i reviewed this one and several other videos during the coarse and wasted time. would like to save others time. HACKPROTIP: I did this on a 2011 GMC Yukon Denali Hybrid. David Crowleys tip ruclips.net/video/nrDCgv2xRFU/видео.html to remove the clip is great as I mentioned below i needed more of a grip and used a paint can opener. HUGE RECOMMENDATION: Disconnect the fuel line after venting the fuel line schrader valve (easy to get to on the 2011 yukon - on passenger side fuel rail - just move the couple hoses down and you will see it a few inches down the fuel rail. open the cap, put a rag on the top and use a philips head carefully or a valve key and depress. then get a $10 3/8" fuel line disconnect (round piece of plastic, mine came in kit from autozone w 6 sizes). I struggled initially to remove the sending unit, and could not get it backin and start the thread for 2 hours.. ridiculous. take the 3 minutes to vent the fuel line, disconnect on drivers side and then you csn reach straight down with your hand. I threaded it instantly and am sure it would have eased removal too. Also - its a pain in the butt (I used a 4" bolt w coarse thread to remove it) but replace the oil pressure sensor filter that is sunken under the sending unit otherwise you might be doing it twice! dorman part # 917-143

Your tip about releasing the connector clip with an Allen wrench worked perfectly and saved the day on this job.

So you wedged the paint can opener under that blue tab and pulled up? I'm trying to do it. Had no luck getting the mysterious clip up or the tab.
Thanks the paint can opener did the trick 😊

Saved me a lot of headache thank you
i want to say thank you for the tip...it worked phenomenally...after watching i was done 10 minutes later...keep up the good work
Just saved me from breaking the fitting off. Thanks for the video.
I espend 2 hours trying to release the harness! After I saw u video ! Got it done in 15 minutes! Tanks for the help man!!
Thanks for the video. Saved me while stuck on the side of the road today. Appreciate it.
Thanks for the lesson... I'm on my way out to the driveway to change my sensor now... wish me luck....
Thank you sir for this informative video...saved my life and $300 big ones.

O'Reilly's told me that that sensor was underneath next to the oil filter which find out it isn't but thank you for your video he helped me located
Thanks for your effort on this video. I have the same symptom on my 2012 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L
Same now i do i tried to get a socket over it and it got stuck and there’s a socket over it now don’t wanna take it in but now gonna have to lol
Thank you fir this video. I love it when ppl enjoy bring help ful
You saved me an hour. Thank you
Thanks. Getting to the clip was the deal. Glad I watched this first.
Watch this guy!!! Spot on!! Thanks dude!!

Good vid. I am about to attempt this on my 2013 silverado 5.3L
Thanks bro, it sucked but I got it done thanks to you.
Great vid, exactly how these should be done. Thanks!
Your a life saver. Thank you.
Allen key....Thanks!!! It helped tremendously!
This tip helped, but snapped the swivel trying to break it loose.
This vid is a lifesaver,
Thanks for that David it helped me out 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing much appreciated
The gray part of the clip is a safety, no need for the Allen wrench just pull up on the gray part then depress the clip below it, it will slide right off.
Great, now I will replace mine as well as the filter under the switch. I have low oil pressure and I think the filter may need cleaning.
There is a small plastic filter inside the sender hole on 5.3 4cyl-8cyl that must be changed!!! It comes with the standard Ignition brand sender.
best video .. thank you

the connector has a safety at 16 min in the 1A auto vid ( How to Replace Oil Pressure Sender 09-14 Chevy Suburban 1500) they show how to release
Mine is facing the plastic shroud I can’t get the Allen wrench in there
Excellent video
RIGHT ON BROTHA THAT VIDEO WILL HELP THX
Sir, was oil leaking ? I ran my code reader to my truck and it said i have this problem
When I changed mine, there was a gray tab that I pulled up and pressed it in and it popped off
Yes I relised this too once I got it off with David’s method 😃 haha
I broke the gray piece on mine and now I’m stuck
How did you get the wires off
Did mine and check engine light cleared. But, now I have two permanent error codes displayed on my scanner P0521 & P0523! Any ideas why?
Life saver
U didn't pull screen under or I miss that
Great video thanks
Does H3 2007 5cly have a oil pressure sensor ? Where is it located at.
What about the screen for the sensor?
What size Allen wrench did you use?
How many miles were on your truck when this sensor failed?
I'm on my third started at about 70000 and last about 10000 goes bad again
Well I'll be damned!!! Thanks for that little wrench tip...
What's the part number? I'm needing one now thanks..
Lovely , thank you 🥹
There should be a little filter under it did you replace to?
Micheal Snell I did not but you are right there is a little filter underneath. I did not try to get it out which would be hard but had no issues afterwards
Just fyi. You're suppose to press in the black tab after you slide up the clip, then just pull up
I say, engineers who design stuff like this should be punched in the face, repeatedly. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks a lot good tip!
Do those sensors go bad, cause I've gotten 3 oil changes and my oil pressure still haven't got passed 40, i constantly starts at 10-20
Eugene Smith mine rarely gets over 40 usually goes up to 40 and as engine warms up stays around 25 which is normal
I bent a small screwdriver at a 90 and the tip slid up under easily
The connectors off..... can't get the wire cap off
You might want to change the filter under it
You forgot the filter
i reviewed this one and several other videos during the coarse and wasted time. would like to save others time.
