Yeah, one of the writers thought he was real clever and made the "Eye of Terra" (as in the eye of the aquila head that has it's eye) a major imperial symbol before the Eye of Terror was ever explored or named. Supposed to symbolize that the Emperor is always watching or something. Horus used a stylized version as his sigil, which became the chaos-star eye used by chaos marines all over the galaxy, which is why it's fallen out of favor in the Imperium. Sanguinius used it too: had a ton of them all over his armor, but he modified the pupil to look like a blood drop. Look at the famous picture of Big E confronting Horus over Hawkboy's corpse. Hawkboy has the blood-drop eye on his shoulder and waist, while Horus has the normal one on his chest and waist with the Chaos version hanging between his legs.

Yeah, but then they couldn’t milk the thousand sons and emperors children, which are the few playable chaos space marine legions if I’m not mistaken (the ones that have their own codex, anyway). Besides, then chaos would be pretty screwed
I think the murder of Ferrus still haunts Fulgrim. So he tells himself that it was the right decision all along so he doesn't have to deal with the pain his consciousness inflicts on him, it is just a facade
I'd add Konrad Curze to that list. I mean he was an evil twisted scumbag, but if you read the lore you can really understand how and why he became what he did. Prince of Crows, Lightning Tower, and a couple of others from the Horus Heresy anthologies.
@@ShadowknightEX Can't have Angron without the Nails, tho - those nails make it, sadly, an inevitability that Angron would turn traitor. Either with a full Rebellion like under Horus, or just at the end of his usefulness, when Russ and the Wolves were finally sent to annihilate Angron and the World Eaters, Angron would eventually going to have to fight against the other Legions. Horus just sped that confrontation up.
Curze has to have the most obvious "this guy's fucking insane" face and no one kept him on a constant watch or you know, expected him to become a mess of a Primarch, I love him
For the love of the Emperor, Chronological order is the order in which the events occurred, it doesn't mean numerical order like you keep trying to use it.
I think Fulgrim's possession allowed for the corruption of his soul. While a Primarch possess really strong willpower and fortitude they can still be corrupted by chaos, so when the Daemon took control of him that's when his soul was corrupted by Slaanesh and while through his willpower he was able to beat the Daemon the damage had already been done. Whilst his fall was one of the dumbest I think that his fate was signed the moment he picked up the sword, it was the corruption that didn't allow him to put down the sword, that's how Chaos works and you know this better than anyone, it's a subtle and slow process, some are able to resist it but not all are as incorruptible.
dude imagine if instead of anggron we had an infinitely more likable, sensible, and interesting character who only went batshit mad after he fell and didn't meet his legion with nails in his brain, like somebody who didn't begin existing as "I'm going to serve the blood god, because I'm pissed off all the time fuck everything rip and tear"
Angron is both simultaneously the most and least believable fall. It’s easy to imagine a psycho like him falling as he was basically fallen already but it’s hard to believe the emperor couldn’t see how fucked he was and even harder to believe that he would have abducted him on his home planet rather than just join in and help him. If chaos didn’t exist angron would have still gone bad eventually. I agree with your comment - bit more tragedy or nuance would have been welcomed
They’ve put a bit more into fulgrim story in the recent siege books. He says he sort of had to make a deal with the demon to get out of the painting or that he couldn’t get rid of it totally so it more likely seems like the way he escaped the painting was to have their essences mix. The real Fulgrim died the moment he killed Ferrus.
I really liked this video. And if you would consider a suggestion, a great follow up could be the times Chaos temted or tried to corrupt the loyalists Primarchs and how they failed.
The part about Horus not having Derrick from MorePlateMoreDates to help him with his hair loss problem was fucking hilarious. Literally laughed out loud 🤣
At around 12:05 what do you mean by Horus losing his hair in being one of the catalysts that set him off to join Chaos and the dark side? Did he go bald naturally, or was some evil entity the cause of his hair loss? Like is the case in most pieces of media where ones looks start to decay and degrade to the point where you start looking many decades older or what 'tis the reason for his baldness and/or even the mention of his baldingness?
Morty was because he was denied a true death in overcoming his past poison and to breath free truly but win or lose then the emperor took it away like angron….two great primarcs denied great futures
I think I feel sorry the most for Fulgrim and Magnus. Fulgrim was basically brainwashed from inside his own head. Mags just got screwed over for good intentions, trying to warn his father of the coming rebellion about to come down on him. I wonder how different things would have turned out had Russ actually got some confirmation about Mags before trying to wipe him out. Although I think Russ might have just been looking for an excuse.
Perty and Dorn were told "do your homework, then go play builder" the reason Dorn was favored was because he did his homework, while Perty was the kid who threw his books on the ground and peed on them and then ripped up Dorns homework.

@@willsword8100 I wasn't equating their character (Arthas is a bit of a little shit, at least all through Warcraft III) but rather their "cliffnotes" character arcs - even up to killing a best friend because an evil sword told them so. Let's be honest, Arthas was clearly a bit of a Fulgrim rip-off in the beginning.
Lorgars motive was to get more choir boys Angrons motive was to not get aborted or being too angry Fulgrims motive was to get some chaos hussy Alpharius Omegons motive was to... uhhh Horus' motive was to gain more white child authority and save his receding hairline Perturabos motive was to 1 up Rogal Dorn and build something for once Mortarions motive was to smell something decent Konrad Curzes motive was to be as edgy as possible Magnus' motive was to be a good boy (redeem my man)
Alpharius' motive for joining Chaos and the Rebellion was to Save the Empire and the Emperor from a Worse Fate. Which was close to what Omegon claimed was Alpharius' motivations when Omegon was impersonating Alpharius after Alpharius was killed by Dorn, but Omegon thought that Alpharius was trying to dodge the prophesy too by only appearing to join Chaos. Which is also what Alpharius said when he was impersonating a Alpha Legion Astartes while serving Omegon who was impersonating Alpharius after Alpharius was killed by Dorn, except he thought that it was actually joining Chaos to dodge the prophesy, not just appearing to join Chaos. And what Omegon said was Alpharius' motivations when Omegon was disagreeing with Alpharius and deciding to actually rebel against the Emperor because Horus was the best way to stop that prophesy, and that after a few hundred years of observation, Alpharius could easily take out Horus right after, no Chaos required. The way Alpharius reacted to Omegon's description of his motivation was to say that Chaos was required, and that it had to be a true pledge of loyalty to chaos so that his hand would be steady, and that Omegon would be able to pull him back from Chaos when the deed was done. Which is what the Astartes who was impersonating Alpharius told Omegon when Omegon was impersonating an Astartes, and ordering Omegon to fall to Chaos with those under his direct command. But Omegon, while impersonating an Astartes, realized that he would need to make sure that not all of his Astartes fell to Chaos, so he impersonated an Astartes impersonating Alpharius to order half of his most loyal squad to only appear to fall to Chaos but to NOT fall to Chaos, so that they could save Alpharius - who was himself - when the time was right. That Astartes who was impersonating Omegon impersonating Alpharius thought this plan wasn't quite up to their usual quality, and so decided to involve a few normal humans in it just in case things went south, because that Astartes realized he was impersonating Omegon (who didn't exist) impersonating Alpharius, and wasn't quite certain that Omegons plans had enough plans within those plans within those plans to truly live up to the Alpha Legion standards. tl;dr : Somewhere along the way, the Alpha Legion forgot that Alpharius was killed by Dorn.
Regardless of the changes in lore over the years, the shortest answers are a whole lot of tragedy and pain. Yeah some were more arguably justified than others in their falls, but they all are were tragic. Especially the four who fell fully to a dark god. No one deserves Chaos taking their soul. No one. And although I doubt they can be saved, I hope they can all be released through death like Horus was. Oblivion is better than an eternity of Chaos.
13:48 To be fair, I don't think many got that either. I thought the point was just to f'ck him up and punish him. Not what gods would do. Probably because you wouldn't worship a sadistic god, if you are not a maso.
Fulgrim was also perceiving events differently because of the influence along with everyone that entered the temple with the sword. He couldn’t see that Manus wasn’t messing up his plan but actually fkn saving them because he was oblivious to what was actually about to happen. (They were engaged in ship battle against dark age tech ships and fulgrim was cocky because they were “old”) Fulgrim tried to stop his swing and then let his body be possessed.
Any concerns that the Emperor would toss aside one if His creations, deem it dangerous and destroy it, was clearly delusional and the Space Marines had never seen such a thing. What do you mean with "Thunder Warriors". There never was such a thing.
@@mcarrowtime7095 Not in the beginning but IIRC they developed brain cancer and became unstable. So instead of trying to find a cure the big E just had them hunted down and replaced with his new favourite toy.
I think of Konrad Curze in the same why I do Alpharius. Both were loyal to the Emperor, but saw joining the traitors as being "what he would want them to do". The Night Haunter Primarch book has Konrad confront an effigy of the Emperor and explain as such -- Konrad thought the Emperor wanted him to be the villain of the story, so he was.
I think the Demon being dominated by Fulgrim was a missed opportunity. I guess they wanted to make sure that there wasn't any way for Fulgrim to go back loyal.
Somehow I feel like actually the Emperor planned for the betrayal to plant seeds by chaos' side so that he can flip a switch in thier minds to cause a second betrayal.

Lorgar: "how shall I fuck off, o lord?"
@Auf Wiedersehen! In turn making him wrong...
I would be very interested in seeing a redemption story for some of the Traitor Primarchs like Fulgrim or Magnus
Yeah, but then they couldn’t milk the thousand sons and emperors children, which are the few playable chaos space marine legions if I’m not mistaken (the ones that have their own codex, anyway). Besides, then chaos would be pretty screwed
I just love the idea that the Aphla legion's plans are so deep and complicated that even Tzeetch doesn't know for sure which side they are on
If Magnus remained Loyalist, I'm under the opinion that the Alpha Legion would've been the Legion Tzeetch would've tried to claim for himself.
Theory: fulgrim is actually wearing a wig
Untill the chao offer him a hair so he join traitor to get hair
I think the murder of Ferrus still haunts Fulgrim. So he tells himself that it was the right decision all along so he doesn't have to deal with the pain his consciousness inflicts on him, it is just a facade
How did they fall to chaos? Dumb, shallow, not-very-good writing from the GW old guard, that’s how. Horus Heresy is goofy as hell. I love it.
My problem with the horus heresy is that large parts of it can be summed up with "warp spaghetti"
Wibbly wobbly warpy whimey stuff
Argron Petrorabo and Magnus are the only ones who have a somewhat reasonable fall to chaos
I'd add Konrad Curze to that list. I mean he was an evil twisted scumbag, but if you read the lore you can really understand how and why he became what he did. Prince of Crows, Lightning Tower, and a couple of others from the Horus Heresy anthologies.
@@MrDarkweaver ok thanks
For Angron, he is definitely justified
Angron is more of a borderline. It definitely has more to do with the Butcher’s nails than anything.
Curze has to have the most obvious "this guy's fucking insane" face and no one kept him on a constant watch or you know, expected him to become a mess of a Primarch, I love him
Saying “coz 40k” is good enough reason.
For the love of the Emperor, Chronological order is the order in which the events occurred, it doesn't mean numerical order like you keep trying to use it.
Lmfao fr, I just commented the same thing. Its like that one friend who keeps misusing the word "literally ". Or "ironic"
The legion's number is the chronology of their creation
@@jslrnzrbntn well shit don't I look like an ass now lol. Pretty obvious now that you say it
You know what I want to see? Chin chin vs the ruinous powers. Who would win?
Chin Chin would solo the freaking Warp and silver tape the Omnissiah's soul whilst cracking a few dad jokes with the Honk God. 10/10
Look at how many dimension wars it took to pacify chin chin. Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about.

Came for Majorkill, stayed for the heresy, cheered at the unexpected Derek MPMD feature.
My favorite Aussie is getting comfortable on those opens. BTW anyone else hearing like a boxy echo to his voice after the opening?
You shouldn't be here
The shitting blood bit is a suspiciously specific example.
dude imagine if instead of anggron we had an infinitely more likable, sensible, and interesting character who only went batshit mad after he fell and didn't meet his
legion with nails in his brain, like somebody who didn't begin existing as "I'm going to serve the blood god, because I'm pissed off all the time fuck everything rip and tear"
This should be a 10 second video that just has one word “bald”
They’ve put a bit more into fulgrim story in the recent siege books. He says he sort of had to make a deal with the demon to get out of the painting or that he couldn’t get rid of it totally so it more likely seems like the way he escaped the painting was to have their essences mix. The real Fulgrim died the moment he killed Ferrus.
whenever i have rough day - major kill uploads and makes me smile again.
thanks major kill.

I think Magnus has best fall, Magnus did what he did was for his Sons, he wanted to protect them from the Flesh Change by ANY means necessary.
Lol that MPMD reference
Love the random MPMD reference
Really liking the new style of videos. Great setup and stage. The best part is actually you to be honest. Adding yourself to videos was a good choice. Excellent work, keep it up!
Never pick up random relic swords.
Fulgrim and Arthas would agree with that statement if they weren't already too far gone to do so.
@@Akranejames Arthas did everything Wrong in his journey, and the Azaroth Still Bleeds from it. We might yet Redeem the IIIrd Legion.
@@willsword8100 I wasn't equating their character (Arthas is a bit of a little shit, at least all through Warcraft III) but rather their "cliffnotes" character arcs - even up to killing a best friend because an evil sword told them so.

the mpmd reference was unexpected but very much welcome
Majorkill voicing Morty and the Emperor is the absolute best thing
Lorgars motive was to get more choir boys
Angrons motive was to not get aborted or being too angry
Fulgrims motive was to get some chaos hussy
Alpharius Omegons motive was to... uhhh
Horus' motive was to gain more white child authority and save his receding hairline
Perturabos motive was to 1 up Rogal Dorn and build something for once
Mortarions motive was to smell something decent
Konrad Curzes motive was to be as edgy as possible
Magnus' motive was to be a good boy (redeem my man)
Alpharius' motive for joining Chaos and the Rebellion was to Save the Empire and the Emperor from a Worse Fate.

Still laughing about that lol

(They were engaged in ship battle against dark age tech ships and fulgrim was cocky because they were “old”)
Fulgrim tried to stop his swing and then let his body be possessed.

Any concerns that the Emperor would toss aside one if His creations, deem it dangerous and destroy it, was clearly delusional and the Space Marines had never seen such a thing.
What do you mean with "Thunder Warriors". There never was such a thing.
weren’t the thunder warriors all unstable? Basically curze just a few steps ahead?
@@mcarrowtime7095 Not in the beginning but IIRC they developed brain cancer and became unstable. So instead of trying to find a cure the big E just had them hunted down and replaced with his new favourite toy.

I think of Konrad Curze in the same why I do Alpharius. Both were loyal to the Emperor, but saw joining the traitors as being "what he would want them to do". The Night Haunter Primarch book has Konrad confront an effigy of the Emperor and explain as such -- Konrad thought the Emperor wanted him to be the villain of the story, so he was.
"Ay yo Warmaster Horus just replaced the white lights in his armor with red lights. I feel like we should be concerned."
I think the Demon being dominated by Fulgrim was a missed opportunity. I guess they wanted to make sure that there wasn't any way for Fulgrim to go back loyal.
"Join me and you will never shit blood again" is the literal opposite of how Nurgle recruits
