  • Wanna play more dynamically and become more soulful in your playing? We’re going to use the R&B song, “We are One” by Maze featuring Frankie Beverly to illustrate how to play dynamically and with soul. I’m going to show you simple things you can do with the G minor pentatonic. Look for how I share how to pick out different spots in the song. The nuggets I share in this video are rarely shared. I want to help you think about different things you can do in your playing. Regardless of the style you play, if you practice what I’m sharing, you’ll see incredible improvement in your playing.

Love Yah Man! Is there anyway.. one day you can teach the licks in this song. I continuously watch & learn from many of your videos. This is the only one that frustrates me & motivate me at the same time. Im trying to understand phrasing concept.. & would really like to grove & learn at the same time with this song. I love watching your videos...& they really help me with fingering & timing & hamer'n of chords..& gives me more passion of wanting to play better. This particular song is hard to catch the runs. But I'm gonna keep trying.

Brotha... Man! Ive gotten off work. But I haven't even picked my guitar up. I've just been listening to explain things. Really try'n to pick things up. I wish my phone had a slow down button. My phone doesn't have one but I'm going to investigate. Man I'm jumping around allover the place soaking up little by little but not solid with anything yet. I get stuck & a little frustrated alot / ( I'm assuming most beginners do?) We are one by maze that your doing. Wow! Man... besides my jumping around... I really want to pick one of your lessons and stick with it. My family is having a reunion in Portland OR in the middle of July & I would really like to play one of your lessons and play it good & smooth. My problem is I like all of them, haven't gotten not one ah 100 % Yet. still need fundamentals better. I just was gonna start name'n some favorite's but had to stop and redo sentence because I would have named them all. I'm gonna figure out a way to order your $97 package and go for my Destiny. But do you have a suggestion for a beginner to learn and play from one of your lessons at a family reunion? I'm 48yrs old, live in LA,CA & going to reunion in Portland OR. Most likely all age groups will be there. I really like all the parts of we are one you did by maze. My wish would to be-able to learn and play in a Smooth way Johnny Guitar Watson " A real Motha fo Yah ". Brotha? Do you have a suggestion for a family reunion song for a beginner to play from any of your lessons? 😏Brotha.... & I really don't mean to bug you But Your lessons really helps me not to give up my dreams of playing guitar till I go to Heaven. & I'd like to play up there too.😇. Good night Man... Hopefully you can understand my is'm.
Music to me is like my Brotha & Sista and I am an only child. Once again... Don't mean to bug you... I'm just giving-it my best shot to learn and hopefully perform one day from your teaching. Thank you Man... for the present teaching & the future.
& I know your a busy Man. God Bless Yah & your Family!

Every time I try to play some bluesy soulful R&B stuff I eventually devolve into just playing a lot of my own metal riffs ( and start downtuning my guitar too). I can't help myself.

Daniel Baber listen to as much Neo soul as you can so it will just flow out you.

I guess my soul is as black as the metal I listen to ;).
