    You missed Mercer's death.
Back in OG, he turns into a necromorph (you can kill the infector grabbing him if you're fast enough and deny him convergence, but he dies as if the infector killed him regardless of your actions)

Not sure why people keep complaining about the scare factor, the original dead space was to some extent a very unique game and terrifying, however once you played it once and completed it the whole scare factor was gone because you knew when it was coming so what did you expect from the remake when it’s still following the original very closely

Some character remplaced for other some scène changed ,some deleted and remplaced .... even the weapon feels différent . We aren't saying that the game is bad , but what justify so much change for a *remake* . The overhall ambiance is still here but is different from what people expérienced from the OG

Hammonds death in OG dead space was like a tribute I think to Michael Altman (unwilling founder of unitology) in the book. He was locked in a room with an insurmountable brute with and a spoon that he sharpened against a wall into a shiv much like Hammond with his rifle. I think that image invokes a more powerful sense of how outclassed we are by the necromorphs. Lets remember the sole necromorph in a shuttle took down the valor

I felt like the remake made things more heroic and cinematic. Main characters died like main characters with impactful emotional deaths, but I like the original better. The deaths in the original felt like important people to you died hopeless, helpless, and sudden deaths that left you little to no time to react. Those sudden deaths felt all more real because you had no time to think, you acted as a sole survivor. Chen: It's a tie, both deaths are very brutal if you ask me.
Chase: Not listed there, but I prefer the OG, all the shaking and the Necros attacking is very nerve wracking
Crew 1: Remake, no question. What a way to go
Officer: Tie. The first one gives that creepy weird factor with all that scene, however the second one she literally died alone, not knowing what else was gonna happen except that she was alone, had a hand trusted in her chest and was traumatized.
Crew 2: I probably go with OG though
Crew 3: Remake. No doubts. Evjerything of it is disturbing, even if the OG has the bigger knife.
Scientist: Tie, there is not really that much difference.
Mathius: The Remake. May not be as bloody but I like that I can see what was happening. I really don't like all that static happening all the time.
Human Necro: Remake. It should be obvious.
Hammond: It's a tie. The first one is definetly the most brutal, the second one does give a little more depth about he and Chen's friendship while still having a gory death.
Temple: God, this one I can't choose. But ways are still brutal. Being chained and getting a knife in the head is not pretty at all, but also having a slow dead like that? I want to say the Remake but the OG still works.
    Kyne: Tie. Nothing much changes.
Nicole: I say the OG is better.
Daniels: While I still prefer the OG, I like how Isaac just didn't want to be the only survivor and even wanted to escape with Daniels by that point. Still prefer the OG.
Ending: Not really sure to be honest. While the Remake has a weak jumpscare, the idea of "Nicole" sitting next to Isaac looking is down right scary. The OG has the better jumpscare though.

That's the only grief there is with dead space, that Plot armor of helplessness, or the always somehow being alone plot armor, where no matter how stupid the idea, you're always dealing with something alone, and there's for some reason no one around. (thinking of DS2 where there's more than ample oppertunity to be near others):

Remake is great but lacks some final touches to make it scarier. Example:
    - Crew #1. Very similar scenes, but the necromorph in the OG immediately jumps at you. However, in the remake the necromorph gets up too slowly. It doesn't close the distance fast enough for you to panic.
    - Crew #2. His final head bang isn't loud enough, and doesn't echo. Also there's that annoying background noise that muddles the sound of his head hitting the wall. Oddly enough, at 3:32 it fades out.
    - Security Officer. OG is creepy as hell. She's blind in both eyes, talking softly, and laughing a bit while holding her dead buddy's body as if he's still alive. Remake has similar structure, but she just says generic "hold the line" dialogue
    - Crew #3. OG laughs and keeps looking at you while holding something, and then cuts her throat. The throat slit was good in the remake, but I think if she was muttering to herself about healing her victim while cutting the still alive body and then cut her throat while looking directly at Isaac, that would have been creepier (think psychiatrist death in DS2).
    - Scientist. Background noise is weird in this. In the OG, the background noise has a high pitch that gets louder and louder as the scientist is brutally attacked, until the killing blow is delivered. The high pitch noise immediately stops, while in the remake it continues even after the scientist is dead.

I like the random encounters shown early in the video alot better in the original. In the remake the first girl just says some random stuff and dies, nothing too special. And the girl behind the glass kills the infected person and kills herself and thats it. But the psychotic laughing and the coddling of what I assume to be a dead loved one in the original is what made those encounters good. Taking that out takes out all of the character the encounters originally had and takes a lot of the creep factor out too. When you see them in the original it's like damn even the survivors are going completely insane am I gonna have to deal with regular humans too? Am I gonna be able to trust anyone? But the remake is like well that girl died and this other one completely understandably kills herself, not really anything out of the ordinary here just generic horror game random encounters. You could make the argument they were still generic horror game random encounters before too but thats not the point. The point is the original had the creep factor of the encounters ramped up to another notch by making these survivors look like they would probably kill you too if they had the random urge to want to. Instead of either keeping it or even doubling down and making new enemies out of it they just ruined what made the encounters special and memorable in the first place.

The movie cliches of the remake just kill the vibe. Hammond is the best example of that, in the remake he gets a heroic sacrifice that was just missing the swelling orchestral accompaniment. In the original, it actually feels more like a _horror_ game, overwhelming, brutal, uncompromising, and it drives home just how easily and suddenly REAL death comes for people. Plus he still went out fighting in the original, so I honestly just don't get the change.
It's like they were determined to stick to the old "former teammate comes back as a monster for a final confrontation" trope and decided that Chen needed to be a reoccurring threat across the ship. They were so determined, in fact, that they made Chen outright improbable. Not only does Chen pursue Hammond relentlessly without getting shot/blasted/killed in self-defense at any point in the whole adventure, and not only does he only manage to corner Hammond in the most dramatic place he possibly could, but it was Chen who destroyed the entire military force single-handed! Christ, that's one busy individual slasher, the Marker must have been overclocking that one.

Haven’t played the remake but I have played the original. It was never the goriness of the death scenes that made them scary, it was the delivery. There is only so much fear you can wring out of dismembering NPCs when you spend the full game dismembering Necromorphs left, right, and center. At some point the player is going to realize that Isaac Clarke is the deadliest thing in the Ishimura and the game’s death scenes address this by making you feel powerless to save the crew or your comrades and highlighting how the ship has increasingly gone to hell.

In the remake, you just kind of run to the elevator unharmed. When Mercer blasts Temple while in stasis, his hair suddenly disappears for no reason, which made me laugh. Nicole's jump scare at the end was more effective in the original and got me every time. The remake, not so much. For some reason the hunter feels more threatening and relentless in the original, but maybe that part is just me.

LATER ON the ship that tries to help the Ishimura collects the escape pod in good faith and to everyone's surprise that's the same pod with a necromorph on it whuch helps the infection spread. It's not supposed to be a particular necromorph, that's what makes the new version corny. They're being too precise with the ambiguity of the marker.

EA:That's right and if you want to feed your families and have a roof over your head then make me something I can peddle to the new generation.
Devs: OK, here is a remake that absolutely no one asked for and already has a solid trilogy.
EA: THATS THE SOUND OF MONEY

    • @dinorex3464
      @dinorex3464 8 месяцев назад

Not so solid trilogy, Dead Space 3 was pretty unnecessary despite the lore being great (I feel like the Brethren Moon was one of the very few things that were in the original development that made it to the end).
The Remake is clearly hinting at the sequels and we are 99% gonna get Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 Remade as well (hell, NG+ has one log that talks about life on the Sprawl and another one that mentions the Tau Volantis aliens, not to mention a message around the ship that can be translated into "Turn It Off", which ties to the whole Tau Volantis Moon thing).
EA is not making money on something no one asked for, they have the opportunity to fix a series and they are taking it.

I like Hammond’s death in the original more because he dies “like a soldier,” telling Isaac not to wait for him, even when he realizes that he is in great danger. On the other hand, I like the idea that Hammond actually dies out of great devotion to his team. But they didn’t push through with the second one in the remake, which is why Hammond died more like a sentimental idiot than a squad leader, unable to come to terms with the fact that he had completely lost this very squad

Most people forget that they are playing a "Horror" game not a DOOM game, reducing the scary level in the game is similar to completely removing the scary scenes in the first "Alien" movie. .

3:25 something interesting about my game. My laptop doesn’t run this game that well but it can still run it. I believe that due to my graphics not being the best it caused a bug with the guy banging his head on the wall and caused him to never play his death animation. So now whenever I come back to this area he is still banging his head on the wall. I saved this man’s life at the cost of him being really annoyed by something.

    Intro is better in remake.
Chen death is better in the remake.
The dude hitting his head on the wall is better in OG.
Security officer is better in remake since it fits a security officer death MUCH more, the original is amazing but feels more like something you should see in the crew quarters or something.(like that officer they shoots herself in the remake but doesn’t appear here for some reason)
Kyne pretty much just got a graphics update lol
Hammond…I like how out of nowhere his death is in the original, you don’t expect it, plus it leads to a mini boss fight and is way more brutal. However, the new one really shows how much the marker messes with your head, that “what” right before Chen gets him is so sad and Hammond goes out like a badass by taking Chen with him by using his last bit of sanity.
Mercer is so much better in remake but his death is so lame in the new one and it’s mainly because we don’t see him die, would have been cool if the tentacle slammed him or something.
Nicole’s death hits much harder in remake if you’ve followed her quest.
Kendra in OG is satisfying to the max, Kendra in remake is so sad…she made sense and I really liked her character here. I’m convinced humanity would be alive if she managed to do what she wanted.
The final jumpscare is 19474929483829529482885582991% better in the original.

Sure the remake looks nice and all but I still think atmosphere, story and horror whise that the original is superior. There are just things they changed that doesnt make sense at all. Like hammonds death or the additional charackter they added for the ending. I assume they wanted to give more insight on how the necromorphs are created with hammond calling the name of the crewmember. But at this point the player already knows all that. In the original his death happens more fitting to the charackter. Also they changed how chatackters like kenrda and dr kayne behave which makes them feel different. Nicole was also behaving different in the original. She is talking with a way different tone to her voice which just feels different and sets another atmosphere. Also some design choices are questionable, like making nicole look like a grandma and issac like ...well idk what I should call that .Looks aside from the silent protagonist and no cut scene gameplay from the original which they changed in the remake.

Although the 2023 version is better in terms of visual quality and realistic supplementary explanations.
As a horror game, the eerie sounds and bizarre atmosphere were better done in the old version.

    • @subzero5589
      @subzero5589 9 месяцев назад +1

The remake version shows efforts to present the characters in an attractive way.
However, I don't know if it was due to the effort, but it was the older version that brought out the horror elements well by paralyzing reason due to fear or creating a desperate situation.
People who are less scared or whose tastes are far from horror will be more attracted to the 2023 version, but for me personally, the vain and gruesome death of Hammond, who was the leader, gave stasis to Isaac, thinking that his acquaintance was alive without any trace of resistance. I prefer a story where the main character, like the female passenger who died, is placed in a more miserable and miserable environment and escapes there on her own.

    • @subzero5589
      @subzero5589 9 месяцев назад

Bravery is a charm, but this is a horror game.
Isaac experienced countless human deaths and tragic deaths in Ishimura, and because the deaths were three-dimensional, I was able to become more immersed in him suffering from Dementia.
The production of the prepared plasma cutter and the courageous fight against the Negromorph... I think this game is biased towards adventure material.
These idiots at EA don't seem to have learned anything from Dead Space 3.
They still didn't understand horror properly.
