A couple of extra thoughts/observations:-
- the developers have fixed the line up & cleared for takeoff merged instructions 🎉
- the development team are continuing to work hard on improving this and updating it (it's had 4 updates pushed since release infact!)
- it's a great tool for people wanting to learn a few bits to get confident with VATSIM/IVAO
- it gives you a feeling of "someone at the other end of the radio" which is really nice for those flying offline
- I feel like Premium Voices would wipe out quite quickly making that an expensive top up feature but understand that's a continuous revenue stream for a business so important to offer it and it does offer much much better voice packs
Overall I enjoyed the flight working around it's limitations and bugs. I've reported the Line Up/Cleared for Takeoff merge and think as an Early Access product it's in a good state with a passionate development team
It's not just that premium is a revenue stream for them, its a recurring COST to them as well. They charge us per character because they have to pay 11labs per character.
@@JohnVanderbecki believe they have stated that it is not a revenue stream at all for them, it’s just covers the cost of the AI.
@@goalski134 My guy, revenue-operating costs = profit. The premium voices ARE a revenue stream, but they do NOT turn a profit.

Another great review - thanks. I will put in my 2 cents with I like this for adding some depth when I can't fly on Vatsim due to concerns about being interrupted. Can't always block uninterrupted time for the Sim.
Given the complexities involved, I think it's a great first step, and it can only get better. I hope they can quickly iron out some of the situations where it doesn't understand certain requests, otherwise they could get annoying. All in all, it deserves to do well, and hats off to the developers for having got this far!
Thanks Luke for explaining how BATC Works i was very reluctant to buy this program as i use Vatsim a lot or used to but you have convince me to spend some money on this and yes it can always improve
I think it has real promise. I’ve been hesitant to buy it but it’s not as stiff as I thought it would. Hopefully they continue to improve the product. I’ll give it a go. Thanks for the video Luke!
I flew on a 737 max Tuesday, it was underloaded also, what a powerful machine, we got to 410 in no time at all, wow!! I've never flown a max, but all the other variants. I did notice though, that the MCP in real life has really small numbers on it, compared to the PMDG models and the hardware out in the marketplace. Nice video, I think I am going to wait for Sayintentions though, it just seems better for me, that is my opinion.
Been using BATC for about a week now and while there have been some minor issues, it's an excellent product IMO. Can't say the dev is not providing updates as there have been at least 10 that I know of so far. I love the different accents of the voices (and only using the basic voices which I feel are very good, definitely good enough for me). I just finished a trek from South Africa up to Israel and the number of different accents for controllers was amazing!
Have had a couple issues where the app wouldn't even run based on my flight plan (but I think that might have been an issue with the flight plan itself as the departure airport had two ICAO codes assigned). Other than that, I've really been enjoying BATC.

I see that the bleep is repeating and never seen that before. It is linked at the green connection light! They have redone the options what is great. Devs are busy with it. Thanks for reviewing.
i wonder whether something was accidentally triggering the ptt button over and over as i’ve never seen that before either.
Yeah this was happening to me. One of the Devs front BATC discord channel told me if your using Winwing FCU need to unbind the keys accept the one you have selected for push to talk. You cannot use the space bar. As that beeping is the Winwing simapp pro communicating with the FCU.

Thanks for the video. Did you file a Simbrief flightplan on forehand to BATC and what was the minimum to put in it? (Dep, sid, wpts, dest, star, appr.)
I planned my flight plan on simbrief first then added my simbrief id to the program to get it linked into BATC

@@MarcelBooij I generate them within simbrief but usually alter them if I see the weather has changed on the way in
Using this program to build up the courage to get on VATSIM, however I've struggled with the vectors it seems to have given me a few times, takes me in too high, or just has be doing circles :) still over time they'll sort it I think.
listening to the devs talk, it sounds as though vectors is one of the hardest parts to get accurate. it’s also one of the weakest components of the other atc programs, and the default atc doesn’t even try. it says “expect vectors” then nothing happens. it’s still a bit messy in batc, and if my flights haven’t quite worked out, that’s where they’ve gone wrong.
Did you keep it on the select Frequency page on purpose? When you close that it gives you much more information which is pretty nice

Hey man the constant beeping is because you have your space bar as a key bind for push to talk. Unassign it and use another key or button on the controller. Dev on BATC discord channel told its because your using Winwing FCU and it's picking up the communication between simapp pro and FCU signals.
Hi, I don't have space as a keybind for it only one single ptt button on my yoke. Bit odd it's picking up the Comms between the WinWing FCU and their SimAppPro program 😅
@@BritishAvgeek OK, I've been having CTDs when I have simapp pro open and fsuipc7 open. Then to trouble shoot I've disabled the virtual mapping within the simapp pro. Now evertime I turn a knob on the Winwing FCU I'm getting the beeping. 🙄
Still work to be done.
First issue, it has problem understanding when I read back frequencies.
Second issue, I’ve made 6 flights and the ATC always stopped communicating at some point during descent. Still waiting for gate to gate working coverage.
Hopefully it'll become a bit more reliable soon! It's great already as it is in early access
How often does the bug happen that when you are descending atc basically forgets that you are descending
I've only used it this once so I'd have to explore more to see how often certain bugs creep up
I did 5 flights and in every flight the ATC stopped talking to me and stopped handing me over
second annoying issue is that BATX has problem understanding when I repeat frequencies. The voice recognition should improve
as far as i have found using it so far. its perfect solution for people like myself that are not confident anouth or have the time to use vat sim. there are small issus but nothing that ruins it for me. the only thing i do dis agree on is having to pay to top up premium i think minume there needs to be some clear explornation why off the developer more than its a tank to top up or that narrative. maybe buying premium voice packs would off been better that you purches onece each and own, added to that issue i have to use premium or i get no audio and have reported the issue but ive had to top up so far. other than that im more or less happy with it and looking foward to futere developments.

@BritishAvgeek yeah, on several flight, maybe needs the list expanding ! Vectors work pretty well and from yesterday the 'line up' seemed to have gone from the take-off clearance. It's a great step forward, Vatsim not often online when we fly.

Compare it to 'Sayintentions' which is £30 a month to use with no basic voices function at all, so you are forced to pay that price every month!
They'll have *some* markup to make a few pence on each top up I'd hope!

I've had a couple lockups though, and standby frequencies would be nice. Not sure if that caused some of my problems. Also the attitude vectoring has been an issue. But I'm into it 👍
For those of us not on Vatsim, it is a great and enjoyable tool. It is in early release and will certainly improve.

I'm enjoying using it but it does feel very limited atm, I feel like I'm controlling the flight more then the atc is but early access gives me hope it will become amazing

How do I get the window to show in VR?
You can't, it is a program that runs outside the sim and this can't currently be used within the sim in vr
I like it but it is annoying you can not change to the runway that navigaph/vatsim uses. Other than that its very nice
Yeah I guess it just picks up what you selected in your simbrief plan and that's it no dynamic stuff if the weather changes

sorry to bother you but I keep getting this message an error occurred starting the basic speech engine . It was ok 2 days ago !!!!
Not sure what to suggest with that 🙂 have you tried a Microphone test and ensured you have it all set up correctly?

Have you updated the programme since? I had this problem on launch day, it was my anti-virus quarantining a false positive, as confirmed by a mod on their Discord server.
@@iansmith3141 it updated automatically and then stopped installing and I forget what the message was -- it was something about the speech engine ----- I can use the premium payware voices but not the free ones and so until they can sort this problem I will be flying with say your intentions !!!!! what a total waste of my time over the last few
days !!!

The blip noise is annoying. Hopefully BATC can add an option to disable this!
Yeah incredibly annoying!
It’s in settings under “UI Sounds”
1) that blip noise is the “UI sounds” feature that can be turned off.
2) i wonder if that is a bug as it is nowhere near that pervasive for me.
One thing I hate about MSFS Review community is they’re all 40-50 minute tutorials more than reviews. Tbh I’m just looking for a decent 10 minute review of the product. Just food for thought in the future. Maybe make a demo and review separately but refer to each within the other
For me, it depends entirely on the product and what the situation is. Something as complex as this people typically want to see most of the events throughout a full flight so I showed that with some heavy editing to cut a lot out to reduce the time. I've done other reviews which have been simple 4-5 minutes videos previously

Yeah I've reported that, it's really not correct even if it's "in the ICAO Textbooks" as they've stated in their discord - it's just not done irl to avoid mixing the two key independent instructions, for good reason

Ground dosnt tell you to hold at say D1 at EGPH as part of the taxi instructions. I expected it to say Taxi to rw24 hold at D1 via E & A
