Had to go to school the next day, but stayed up a little longer to watch what happens. BBC, Chiller, SYFY and FX had run the series on syndication.

    RIP Meatloaf
'That' from his seminal song I Would Do Anything For Love where he then says, But I Won't Do That, 'That' is literally stated in the lyric directly before the chorus and aforementioned title of the song. I won't spoil it here, but sing the entire chorus or look up the lyrics to see the answer is clearly stated first.
This is like the close cousin to the Titanic argument of why Rose didn't make room for Jack on the floating debris and let him freeze to death.
On that front, rewind thirty seconds when Jack literally chills next to Rose. They address why when the scene starts. Jack tries to mount the debris and it almost sinks the debris and Rose with it.

To this day I still like to believe that The X Files ended at Season 8. Even though it gets so much hate. We can all pretty much agree that Season 9 will always be the worst season ever. Season 9-11 I like to pretend don’t exist.
X Files 1993-2001 Season 1-5 along with first film and Season 6-8 that’s how a perfect series ends.

The latter seasons are watchable but the quality definitely declined. Chris Carter just didn't know how to end his mythology arc. And the revival series was ok but it wasn't necessary. Now I hear they want to reboot. Yeah I'm not interested. Nothing will top the original series

If we take a tv shows' seasons as "albums", then X Files seasons 2 and 3 are some of my favourite "albums" of all time. I can watch every early episode in general, and Boom, I am back in the mid- late 90s again, but they still gather new meaning to me. It is a show that it is very important to me. And in general , seasons 1-5 are incredible. Every epiosded means something to me. But....I will say something here: For me, it sort of "jumps the shark" after s5. The difference between the show before and after that first movie was so glaringly there. Season 6 was sunnier, brighter, and lighter. A string of comedy tinged episodes - whilst entertaining to most- totally derailed and disregarded the massive build up and sky smashing scene at "Fight the Future"s end. Worst of all- Scully STILL was a sceptic in UFOs despite being rescued form a gigantic UFO underneath the ice in Antarctic! In such a convoluted idea, she was "passed out" as it happened, and spends the rest of the series acting like it never happened. It was a terrible idea and shutdown of character development. S7 could have put this all right, but they took the mythology episodes into more tangents and more horrid self parody like the "Fight Club" episode.
I really liked s8's attempts to bring the show back to its roots and Robert Patrick was superb in general. But sadly, it had passed its popularity peak and the audience wasnt there. I really think that season 7 should have pulled out all the stops to answer everything and give the show the ending it deserved.
But ultimately and sadly, Chris Carter was never able to finish what he started. He wasnt able to convincingly and interestingly develop Scully into a believer, despite all the things she saw and was involved in each and every week. He was never able to tie up the alien arc, and kept adding more and more things that by season 9 were too OTT in comparison to the earlier season's delicious and devious appetizers and teasers regarding the aliens, human hybrid stories. Even the recent - and very good in places revamp. He still could'nt wrap it all up. The whole "William" plot should never have happened and really was the biggest hindrance to the show.

I found out the X-Files during, I believe it was season 3. It blew me away... I really don't recall the first episode I watched but the show had me hooked. When the first movie came out, I flew to Vegas to visit family and I MADE them go to see the movie with me at Sam's Town. One of my all-time favorite shows. And though they didn't always get along behind the scenes, Duchovny and Anderson's interplay could at times be cute and funny (like in "Home" where Mulder and Scully are talking about kids and he tells her: "Well, just find yourself a man with a spotless genetic make-up and a really high tolerance for being second-guessed and start pumping out the little Uber-Scullies."). I mean, genius line delivery and it was hysterical as was the rest of the convo in that scene. Or in "Syzygy" when he tells her he would drive since he didn't think her legs could reach the pedals and slams the door before she can respond. The look on Scully's face says it all. I mean, there are hundreds if not more moments like this between the two leads. Both actors had great chemistry, and their line delivery was so well done -there were times you'd forget you were watching a show. I miss it. I do. Luckily I have Hulu so I can revisit as much as I want. Very well done video, thank you for sharing your thoughts about the show.

X-Files is one of the better hour long shows out there (except season 7, which blows). But, 3 horror film franchises came from X-Files episodes. Wrong Turn came from s4e2's "Home", Jeepers Creepers came from s8e9's "Patience". And Final Destination came from one of the rejected episodes but that franchise was ran by James Wong and Glen Morgan.

STILL kick myself to this day that I skipped the 1st couple of seasons when it originally aired, thinking it would be too cheesy - from the ads, I was thinking it was more along the lines of Fox's earlier 'War of the Worlds' show or even 'Project UFO' from the 70's...
Fortunately my brother clued me into just how good it was, and it quickly became a Friday night mainstay. We'd watch the show, then head out to to the Cup-A-Joe coffee shop that stayed open until midnight on weekends to hang with friends, smoke too many cigarettes and get overly-caffeinated 'til the wee hours... Good times for sure.

In spite of Duchuvney's absence, season 8 ranks among the best in the series. Anderson's performance, in light of Mulder's disappearance, is her best work in the series over the course of a season, especially when you consider the dissonance created by Scully's desire to maintain her professional and ethical devotion to rigorous scientific rationalism and her desire to take up Mulder's mantle as the one who "wants to believe." This is exemplified by the episode 'Patience', one of the best monster of the week episodes in the series

X-Files was at it's best when it featured more of the creature of the week episodes. After season 3 it started leaning heavily on the alien conspiracy stuff. Which in the first seasons was a nice bonus if you watched the whole season/s. But in the later seasons with more of the episodes dealing with the alien subject matter. If you missed a episode or 2 you were totally lost.

X files, tales from the crypt, are you afraid of the dark, and... unsolved mysteries. I think those are the 4 theme songs that made you cry.

such a great show that still holds up (despite the date tech in the main seasons) some of them need multiple viewings just to really appreciate how awesome they are.
Although come on, someone pick up Millenium, or just grab Millenium, Xfiles, The Lone Gunmen and Space Above & Beyond, make them their own streaming service and take my money

I think the episode was called the moth men? The sort of invisible guys 5hat lived in the forest?
Absolutely terrified me as a kid, I would lay in bed thinking about if I was in any strange forests that day and if they were coming to get me... so far so good, still here haha

That episode is early in season 5 and its called "Detour". Great episode! It was based on the moth men as you said, and nicely references the incident that also pops up in the "Mothman Prophecies" movie with Richard Gere in 2002.

That episode was the only X-Files episode I wholly disliked and found actively repulsive, and I would argue that the episode is even worse than you suggest, since it not so subtly implies that if women in general were not so 'shallow' and could look past the gross physical mutations of the character, then he and his 'father' would not 'need' to drug innocent women so that he could violate them while they are unconscious and impregnate them with mutated offspring, something he comes within a trice of doing to Scully herself. I never saw that character as a victim, still less as even slightly sympathetic - sure, his life circumstances were rough, but that doesn't begin to justify what he did, still less explain the show writers' downright creepily indulgent attitude toward a character who is still, however you slice it, a serial r*pist. He should be going to prison, not a Cher concert.

Really liked this series, it appealed to fans of several genres, it was really fun to watch. Episode “Home” was genuinely terrifying, better than many horror movies.
I just didn’t like the main conspiracy plot, I think it was weak, poorly developed, didn’t make sense, felt like changed mid series... it had so much potential.
The return of the series was not as good as the original, but wasn’t bad. It could had a few more seasons.

Good video overall. Vancouver BC is in the geographical region know as the Pacific Northwest. Just because it's in Canada doesn't exclude it from the region. Vancouver is only about a 1.5 hour drive from the U.S. border.

Though I don't think that the host of the show understands quite the essence of what X-Files was all about, I give her an A-Plus for talking about the history of the show.

Personally, I never saw this show as horror; it's really more of an anthology-show, much in the tradition of 'The Twilight Zone'. One minute it was spooky, (lol) and the next, tongue-in-cheek humorous. That being said though, you forgot to mention the slew of parody/tribute shows; like 'So Weird', and most recently, 'People of Earth'! =)
