My grandma and i never missed an episode. I can remember the premier. I was adding butter to a big bowl of popcorn as the opening theme was playing. Grandma shouted for me to hurry up, i was gonna miss the opening scene😂. It is a bittersweet memory, she passed away in 2007😢. I miss her
Definitely one of my favourite 90's TV shows of all time. Duchovny and Anderson had the best dynamic, you could never envision anyone else as Mulder or Scully.
I have their origin novels, which take place in late March and early April of 1979. As Mulder tries to solve his sister Samantha’s disappearance in _Agent of Chaos,_ _Devil’s Advocate_ shows Scully getting in over her head after a deceased classmate appears to her during gym. By chance, Mulder and Scully have a brief exchange in the former book. I’ll keep it small, but Scully didn’t want Mulder and his team disturbing the energy of the building they were in. I know its name, but I’ll keep quiet about it so both stories stay fresh should you want to read them.
The fact that Vince Gilligan wrote some of the best episodes of X-Files and also created the series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul only proves how great his potential is
Vince Gilligan had a minor rolle in the X files, compare to Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz, and others. There is no comparison between all the richness of the X files vs. Braking Bad clitché tematic. What a Joke!!
"Home" really freaked me out. A fellow worker was quite upset by that episode; near the end, a Johnny Mathis standard was playing. She said she never wanted to hear that song again, as it would remind her of that episode.
@@Chuck_EL Yup. No argument from me. Now I have to see if I can find that episode streaming...I think FreeVee has at least the first season, but I can't recall if "Home" was first or second season.
One of the episodes that “kept me up” at night has to be “Folie a deux”…that “from the corner of your eye” monster…shivers. On a lighter note, I love the episode “War of the Coprophages”…Duchovny in them jeans….
I started watching "The X Files" by accident. I was a fan of "Adventures of Briscoe County" and set the VCR to record it while the lovely missus and I went to dinner. We got home and I realized I recorded X Files by mistake. It was the episode with all the cloned girls, and their fathers being exsanguinated.("Eve") I watched every episode after that, and caught the first bunch on reruns when they came on.
Great video Watch Mojo... glad to see the one with Peter Boyle was number 1. Such a great episode, and The X Files is one of the best shows ever... Thanks every one!
I like the episode where Mulder drives the entire episode to try and save a woman with an exploding headache. And the guy who has insane luck all the time.
“Triangle” gets my vote. I love the single camera tracking approach. I love that both leads hold court through their respective scenes. I love that there’s no breaks in the action from both the ship and the office. AND I LOVE SCULLYS HAIR THE MOST ON THIS DAMN EPISODE⚫️ Gillian was working the hell out of the camera man.
You can never top "HOME" as the greatest X-Files episode ever: horrifying, funny, disgusting, thought-provoking, and the only episode to ever be banned from television.
As a kid i had this requiring dream for years but never knew from where. Seeing this today hit me like a tons of bricks. All coimg back to me now. Sheesh! No wonder this stuff got me as a kid! And even still gets me to this day. 😱

Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! The X-Files episodes were filmed where I used to live back in the 90s along with other TV shows like Millennium. They used to post fake TV show names where they parked RVs for actors/actresses and the film crew, to prevent the locals from visiting the site. 🤣 I remember watching the pilot episode of the X-Files while not knowing that was a paranormal based TV show.. 🤣
Great list, but I really want to include War of the Coprophages. There was an outtake where a cockroach walked over the camera, but it was so perfect that they decided to keep it in. When that cockroach walked across the screen, you know that somewhere in america somebody through a shoe at the television.
If a cockroach walked over the camera, all you'd see would be a black/brown blur obscuring the image. That cockroach running over the screen was put in as a visual effect on purpose in post-production. There's even an edit in the middle, ffs, just to make you think there's a real roach running over your TV.
After 5 years since the seasons of The X Files ended in the year 2018, i still rewatch the entire series in the year 2024. Because the series fascinates me entirely till today about the existence of aliens and little green men’s.
I remember when Irresistible played, I was living in St. Paul MN at the time, which was the scripted setting for the episode. Scared the you know what out of me. But Jose Chung is still my fav.
I suppose the plot was derivitive, but I loved the episode "Monday" where Mulder and Scully are trapped in a time warp and repeat the same bank robbery over and over. I also loved "Field Trip" where they get trapped inside a killer mushroom.
The X-Files was one of the first (if not the first) series I started watching when cable TV was installed at home and for sure I have fond (and a few scary and unsettling) memories of it. I remember many of the episodes on this list, including the controversial "Home", and I agree on the number 1 pick: the Clyde Bruckman episode was really touching, and left me thinking for a while.
