The more I rewatch episodes, she seems more like a responsible 16 year old babysitter trying to prevent a three year old (Mulder) from shoving cutlery into electric sockets or running out into traffic. Skinner is the exhausted single mom who wants a night on the town for the first time in four years.

Every X Files episode is really just Mulder tripping on mushrooms and Scully trying to talk sense into him.
Um, the season 6 episode "Triangle" is an exception. In the end, Mulder woke up in the hospital. He wondered why his jaw was sore and remember that the alternate reality Scully really punched him. He realizes he really did go back in time to 1939.

I thought that was Warehouse 13 that was convincing everyone that the artifacts that they were handling were just “a bad case of shrooms”
