REJOYCE, DARKTIDE GENESTEALER BELIEVERS! Our day of vindication is hopefully almost upon us! There is NO DOUBT in my mind that the Water Cartel gangers we see in the Secrets of the Machine God Narrative Trailer are genestealer cultists.
Two of them are bald, all of them are pale, and ALL of them have incredibly strange faces and heads. In fact, some of their features and apparel is actually ripped straight from Warhammer 40k table top genestealer models.
But the big question is - are we going to get genestealers as an enemy faction in Darktide? That is unfortunately something only Fatshark can know for sure, at this point.
But playing the Clandestium Gloriana map, there's a message left on two walls that seems to be a warning left behind from people long since dead that SOMETHING is likely buried under the ice. One something. And now that we've fired up the foundryplex and have began new production of true Moebian steel....
It's only a matter of time before we know if the ice is going to melt, and we're going to have to go back to Inter-Zone Void Omega 12. Hopefully soon, we'll know if Genestealers are actually coming to Darktide.
JoPlayGames sold me fentanyl behind walmart
What the hell am I going to do with you???
Hell yeah
@@Jo_Plays_Games Give the poor man more fentanyl, duh.
weird... thats where she stole my kidneys
Oh no that's terrible... Which one?
So the Moebian 6th probably learned what genestealers are during the fringe wars, and decided the cult of admonition was the correct choice on who to follow to purge Tertium of the corruption. Sounds like a common enough scenario in 40k, to face a threat you end up becoming inhuman servant of another.
Quite possibly. That also might be why they tried to work with the Water Cartel to then betray them. Fortunately for the GSC part though, they were likely one of the smaller Cartel factions that had split off and part of the constant in-fighting within their gang.
Also just something I noticed: water cartel have very prominant symbols on their clothing and they wear purple- a color usually associated with Tyranids. I feel they wouldnt have given them all those HUGE symbols if they wouldnt be fought- or uniforms for that matter. They all have a uniform look to them; if they were throwaway plot pieces they probably would have just had them wear random stuff instead of custom assets.
That's a really good point about creating unique outfits for them!
I think it's also worth noting that Sefoni has multiple voicelines in the psykanium talking about xenos being active in Tertium and on atoma, I don't remember exact quotes off the top of my head but she mentions hearing "xenos whispers" and talks about "touching strange minds". Another thing to mention is multiple voice lines of characters in game talking about a lost hive city and that information pertaining to it essentially being classified.
That would be awesome if we could encounter alien characters like Kroot Mercenaries
There's a line where Morrow tells you to stop asking questions about a second hive city. Quite possible it fell to a cult but yeah GSC in Tertium doesn't look like it's happening - would be cool but I really don't see FS putting the work in to make it happen even if it was a narrative thread they built in for context.
A little like Hive Secundus on Necromunda then?
That's some resilient laundry if they have been hanging there for 1000s of years.
Especially getting soaked from the rain.
That’s the power of God Emperor Blessed 100% Real Corpse Starch Laundry Detergent!
Yeah I'd have to say that there were some people living there even if it was officially abandoned by The Hive City authorities
@@mrziiz6893 a Necromunda exclusive.
It wouldn't surprise me if they're made of some high-tech or futuristic fibres.
This is 40k after all, where everyone and their dog wears some form of cloak or robe, which always appear worn but never quite seem to decay completely.
Tertium is so screwed if there's a simultaneous chaos incursion and genestealer cult uprising
Trust me it was even hel in a handbasket in Dawn Of War going up against Chaos, Tyranids and Orks at same time in story mode lol
It’s even more screwed if my sweaty ogryn mitts get their palms on anything that could change its fate
Necromunda: Please... it's barely an inconvenience. They'll cancel each other out. . Though you might need more gangs to truly attain normalcy.
@@AMPMASTER10necromunda with an entire hive city inhabited solely by fucking genestealers:
they don't call it Dark tide for nothing
The Navigator, Stefoni(?), claims to sense xenos lifeforms on the surface, telling us "we've got company". That could be further hints towards possible GSC activity.
I really need to start hanging out in the psykanium.
@@Jo_Plays_Games One of the things Sefoni says is that he has had visions of a shadow in the warp with many teeth.
@@lordaltairs "Shadow in the Warp" being the phenomena generated by an impending Tyranid Invasion
I do love me some genestealer hype train.
CHOOOOOO CHOOOOOOOOO!
There are Genestealer cults on almost all worlds of the Imperium, even on Terra.
To be fair the one on terra got cleansed very early on by the custodes themselves after the arbites discovered it.
Potential damage to imperial bureaucracy not withstanding, it was also very redundant. The tyranids where attracted here by a psychic flashbang. You think they didn't notice the giant Lighthouse as soon as they arrived? In fact I'm pretty sure if you look at depictions of where Tyranids are coming from in the galaxy, they seem to be converging on Terra slowly but surely.
@@axios4702 not redundant, genestealer cults serve to weaken the planets they are on and help the invasion when they arrive
At 6:00, it just means "the tomb/grave," and since it is a noun, it has a predetermined gender, so the gender of the person buried typically doesn’t matter-it’s just a word. It is also in the nominative/accusative case, so it isn’t genitive, which means that the tomb/grave doesn’t explicitly belong to anything (though I guess it also wouldn’t make sense if the word stood alone in the genitive).
also i cant find a male version of the word, only neutrum (gender neutral) so theres also that.
You're absolutely correct, and I'd have hoped for as many years of Spanish as I took while in school, I would have remembered some basics about conjugation that would have helped me there. And yet........here we are, lol. Thank you!
Stands to reason that “Sepulcrum” written on a garage door has a very straightforward meaning: that garage is full of corpses. Clearly something did indeed happen down there, though, if people are piling those bodies up in a makeshift mass grave instead of sending them to get corpse-starched.
Great video! You just made me realize something insane. The foundry is above the torrent and the torrent is "raining" I now assume the drip drip of the massive ice block above it. We know fat shark updates older maps to support ongoing narrative. Not only does this explain how the rot of nurgle may have taken root from all of the humidity and such. Also if this ice is going to increasingly melt it may literally flood the torrent.
Thanks so much! That's totally a possibility I never even thought of! Oh my god what if it DOES flood the Torrent. Holy shit, you just blew my mind.
@@Jo_Plays_Games
Given the place is named the Torrent it's probably designed with passing large amounts of water in mind. In the more pipe-ish sections we go sometimes Zola mentions that we need hurry up unless we want to get caught in a "flush"
More than that...what if that actually flushes out parts of the corruption, and that adds a new modded map that is a new mission type? The elevator in 2 of the missions is back to back variants on the same level, one going up the elevator, the other down, and a similar deal for the shower blockhouse that has the medpack that leads to the assasination mission in the prison. This could be a third level with a branching path, with different start and end points.
honestly, even if the hype train is false, i hope it becomes big enough that they have to include them in the game due to high amount of player requests.
Look, whether Fatshark ever acknowledges it or does anything with it, I will die on the hill that those Water Cartel gangers are CLEARLY modeled after genestealer cultists. They now exist in the game's lore, but sadly only time will tell if that ends up meaning anything.
I feel a new enemy faction might lead to a new wave of Rejects (and new classes) to help fight. That sounds fun.
I feel it's possible there might be Mechanicus stuck down there too. One of the voice lines that can pop in this new map is Hadron asking where tf they all went. And then there was the short story where Hadron went down to the foundry herself and was doing something on a cogitator in secret, and Rannick is spying on her...
I wonder how they're gonna add in something like a Mechanicus character if they have to start in the same prison break tutorial, I've been trying to justify in my mind how new rejects would fit with the current thing of 1 of 4 crimes landing them in jail and am starting to consider they may have to create a new start or make new rejects unlockable to intentionally skip that initial story beat
@@GunthersbyI dont think putting together a new tutorial is that much work if you reuse parts of an existing map.
@@Gunthersby Perhaps we don't get rejects but already inquisitorial acolytes if other classes (like a techpriest) are added.
@@agentc7020it’s about time we become proper acolytes! I’ve crushed over a million damn scabs with my thunderhammer and killed the Karnak twins about 50 times!
Well the devs did say the game’s story would evolve over time. This chaos cult uprising is probably the start of our problems in the Moebian system.
I’m still hoping you’ll do a video on the martyr skulls. There’s quite a bit to unpack in their messages.
Don't worry, I definitely plan to do that! But when I realized I'd FINALLY found Genestealer Cultists IN THE DAMN GAME (trailer), I couldn't resist making a video about it immediately.
This makes perfect sense, and releasing this faction alongside Space Marine two is extra perfect. Way back in the oldhammer days, someone decided genestealers should be a sub-faction to Tyranids instead of totally unique, and since then the horror of both factions has been dialed up by this decision. It makes them both, and how they relate to each other, fascinating. Tyranids in Space Marine 2, as well as Chaos Space Marines, would be the perfect parallel of related factions with Darktide, driving up interest in both games. We have Nurgle or Tzeentch & Genestealers or Tyranids. Nothing would get me hyped for both games more than a Genestealer update to DT on SM2's release.
I couldn't agree more! The marketing synergy would be TOP TIER. Both games have/will be a big entry point for many people into 40k. I'm really really hopeful that's where this is going for the anniversary of Darktide this year.
It’s crazy to me that they didn’t add a plague marine boss when space Marine 2 came out
every time i play nowadays with friends i'm like the Pepe Silvia meme from always sunny... "i swear man, the genestealer are real. they are out there." *takes drag of cigarette*
I mean they're definitely in a cutscenen now. Whether or not that's ever acknowledged or anything ever comes of it....
Aetelium is likely a warhammer high gothic bastardization of the word "Atelier" which means workshop or studio. The same way everything else is a consortium or an archivum.
Oooh, interesting! Thanks!
Sound logic, and the cult can easily make swarms of bodies for us to cut through. Perfect for this game.
They perfectly fit the "tide" type of enemy. And a lot of variety in unit options!
I'd love to go through a mission where you fight nurglites like always...then the floor beneath your feet collapses and you fall through a sawage system to a zone filled with orkoid fungus. The regular enemies are replaced by grots, Elites by gretchins and at the end you find the first actual BOI of the colony named ,,Da Snotstompa" as a boss.
Orks would ALSO be a great choice for a tide enemy!
The idea of Genesstealer cults fighting chaos cults has always been a fascinating concept that has precedent in unimportant lore
It was a treat to encounter and fight them in neceomunda hired gun and I love that despite how terrifying and vicous they and their cultists were they weren't touched upon besides the one level that described their territory as cursed, as no one truly understands their insidious nature until its too late
I hope that we someday get a chance encounter them in datktide, even if they don't fight the Moebian 6th, just like the beastmen in Vermintide the enemies that could be brought into game is awesome, our Inquisitorial masters discovering the Genestealer cult and sending us to clear out their hive and slaying their Broodlord before another cult rises up on the planet would be awesome from a gameplay and setting point of view
Apparently Sefoni has some lines about detecting Xenos minds on the surface, and that "we have company." I need to verify that for myself, though...
@@Jo_Plays_Games Theres a video on youtube that has all of Sefonis voice lines, one of them she says "there are many strange minds on the surface, We have guests"
Edit: Also I should point out that she has another interesting line talking about Xenos with Swords and Crescents most likely hinting towards the Eldar Alaitoc, the line said is "I hear whispers In My mind, Xenos Whispers, the Swords and the Crescent beneath a shifting cloak." now I dont know if this is implying that the Eldar are involved or its just a cool throwaway line but its interesting none the less.
If they are adding genestealers, which seems like it would be a very plausible direction, I'm interested to see if they'll learn from space hulk, or use it as inspiration and see what worked and see what didn't.
A majority of the cultists will probably just be reskinned dregs and scabs, with a few new specialists like a biophagus or kelermorph, and new monstrosities like a purestrain or abominant.
Perhaps the GSCs will be in slightly smaller hordes than the existing enemy factions, but have a higher proportion of elites and perform ambushes and surrounds more often.
I will say, I am surprised how much unique animation and modeling a lot of the existing enemies have, compared to how much they could have been phoned in. I'm sure there will definitely be some reskinning, but hopefully we'll get a new faction with a lot of love and design put into it!
@@tau-5794 I'll just point out that a Purestrain has natural Carapace Armor. If many players struggle with slow lumbering Crushers just imagine a pack of fast and agile Purestrains hitting the team from ambush.
Epic of course and I'd love to see it, but the challenge will be real.
@@thunder2434 I think aberrants will be the crusher reskin units, not purestrains, since they both use the same improvised bludgeon weapons and are ogryn-sized units. A purestrain will probably be a monstrosity, probably more in line with the daemonhost's rapid speed and fast attacks that quickly break through stamina, while an abominant will be the large, hulking plague ogryn equivalent.
Great, now I have to worry about people stealing my denims
Khakis, my friend.
It would make sense that the firing up the foundry would melt the ice over time and reveal a Patriarch from the depths. I really hope that this is happening!
Meeeee toooooo! I'd certainly hope the "sepulchrum" graffiti has SOME kind of payoff....
I heard Sefoni say something about the coming of "hooded xenos" while I was in the psykhanium
I'm going to have to look into this, thanks!
Slaugth, perhaps?
If it's hinting genestealers, then sign me up, but i think what could be frozen in the ice is a deathguard marine, but hey, that's just me.
That's the other big option I was considering "Sepulchrum" could mean. It's whatever the reason behind the Nurgle invasion is for.
@@Jo_Plays_Games I would *so* love a mission where you discover a single Plague Marine, and your objective just immediately becomes "GTFO" - orders to retreat on the double the second the marine is identified.
Fat Shark made a statement a while ago that they don't want to include space marines in this story. But if it did happen it wouldn't be the first time a gane developer changed their mind.
Ah man I hope we don't get Putronius'd. Even in Black Crusade Plague marines are no joke. TPK in one salvo.
@@semi-useful5178 Hence "New objective, GTFO." :P
I watched this video yesterday, and the more I've thought about it, the more I have to agree. There's also other genestealer cults, that have referred to themselves as cartel, and that approach makes sense to do, as it allows them to be semi out in the open and allows them a place of power while gaining more power. And the guy you point out in the trailer on our and Swaggers right when our pov shifts to swaggers boot level, he has full on genestealer cheeks, and it wouldn't surprise me if goggles is hiding sharp teeth behind his mask. The water cartel symbol has at least what I would consider subtle genestealer cult coding. The skull has genestealer characteristics, and the waves resemble the ridges seen on the backs of Tyronid iconography used in other cults (The Innerwyrm for example). It would also makes sense for them to be another faction to add into game, and would be easy to explain how and why they spring up, even if it's not soon Fat Shark like dropping hints at things that are to come in the future.
Yeah that 3rd guy's face we only see from behind Swagger's boot, his face seems to be a recreation of one of the Genestealer Neophyte model head options.
Since we have Terror in the Dark and the vox intercept that came out today, I'm wondering if the anniversary won't be more Rinda and/or hopefully daemonic-focused???? Maybe? Who the heck knows at this point. I just hope that we're leading up to get SOMETHING cool added to Darktide soon.
I thought those Water Cartel guys looked fishy too lol
Totally hybrids, man.
"I promise I'm not off my meds."
Awww... when will we get to see unmedicated Jo?
(I've actually been off my meds for years. I lied.)
It would be nearly impossible to root out a genestealer cult within a hive city and that’s the unique horror of the genestealer. By the time you realize they’re there it’s already too late
11:32 Bottom right, the guy with the googles looks very much like the guy here 10:00 coincidence? I think not!
It's absolutely NOT a coincidence. I also realized that the guy with the monster face that we only get to see from a distance is totally modeled after a Neophyte Hybrid head model option.
I want to believe!
Look, whether Fatshark ever acknowledges it or does anything with it, I will die on the hill that those Water Cartel gangers are CLEARLY modeled after genestealer cultists. They now exist in the game's lore, but sadly only time will tell if that ends up meaning anything.
JEAN STEALERS!!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FATSHARK DON'T LET US DOWN! Please let this cinematic have a payoff!
For the sake of atoma, such xenos must be purged.
FOR ATOMA!!!!
I was fully expecting to get clickbaited with some vague 40k knowledge added in, but fair play, knocked it out the park, I've been in 40k for a while now and I didn't even know some of the stuff mentioned about the genestealers, specifically them being able to have hair. Honestly I feel like it checks out though, genestealer cults would be a very good enemy in Darktide, and they'd definitely get me back in the game, as I remember being hyped for a potential for them even in like the Beta of the game and all that, But again, fair play, good video with some great points, definitely got a subscribe from me
Thanks so much! That always means a lot when I hear from fellow 40k loreheads that I did the material its due diligence and maybe even share something new. :D
The really fun thing is that for those of us that have been on the Genestealer Hype Train since the early days, there's been a suspicion around the Water Cartel for so long. They're all bald and pale for the bodies you see in the Torrent, and seem to have died of the Walking Pox before actually getting turned into true Poxwalkers. My understanding is that for at least your basic humans, becoming a Poxwalker isn't a fate you get away from, it's basically a done deal. So strange...
I'm sold, I hope this is true because it would be dope, and you really cooked with this one Jo. Super hyped for the anniversary update
Thanks so much! Honestly I was equal parts dumbfounded and incredibly hype when I finally noticed those Water Cartel guys were totally Genestealer cultists. Dear god I hope they pay this one off. SOOOOOOOO many of us have been foaming at the mouth for genestealers to get added since before the game even launched.
About Atelium, it made me think of the word atelier, which in English would be a canvas to paint on.
GSC are my favourite 40k faction for models and lore, so them coming to Darktide would be absolutely amazing!
So, is the Order Xenos gonna take over the operations on the mourningstar?
Grunk always likes bed time stories from lady boss.
I thought the water cartel heads were just riped from the dregs (the long hair guy is a unmasked shooter, and the gasmask is a gunner)
Gotta say it again, I love your passion and your videos. Keep it up!!
Thanks so much! That means a lot to me! :D
I'm predicting a space marine 2 collaboration
That would be extremely awesome.
Hypothetically, if an Alpha is frozen, it might loose control of any early gen cultists. As such they might not even be aware they are genestealer cultists, and their deformities have just been accepted as lower hive mutations for a long time, until the Alpha wakes up.
It would have to be something extreme, planetary threat or higher, for the Empire to sacrifice an Moebian Steel factorum. A couple of million people would be a low cost to sacrifice otherwise IMO.
The water cartel guys are also dressed in PURPLE. Purple = genestealer. Genestealer truthers unite.
There are dozens of us! DOZENS!
@Jo_Plays_Games and that's just the ones with hair!
It isn't unheard of for nids to be buried under ice. I recall Ciaphas Cain encountering quite a large specimen under ice in one of the books. It's possible.
It would be cool to see three-way fights between the disposal unit, Nurgle cultists and genestealer cults
I'm down for it. New weapons. New faction. It'd be awesome to be on mission and just come across the chaos of GS cultists and Pox Walkers fighting eachother in your point of interest and having to wade through them for an objective.
Oh lawdy, Darktide is so starved for content that we're doing phrenology on the narrative trailer 🤣
Always here for a good “Genestealers are coming to Darktide” conspiracy.
I’m very ready for it to finally happen…
Thanks for watching! Same, friend. So ready.
Oh wow!! I got goosebumps when listening to this, the amount of Lovecraftian horror in this level is incredible!! The idea of an ancient horror sealed away in ice and lost to time is so creepy!! And also, the graffiti is clearly depicting Genestealers. Well researched, edited and narrated as always!
Thanks so much for watching and your kind words! I really really really hope they do SOMETHING with this level, even if it isn't genestealers. It'd be such a wasted opportunity to do the coolest 2nd mission on the same map since the game's launch. It's literally perfectly constructed for it!
The caption on the video states “Heretic No. 2” when the character with the goggles is speaking
Tbf everyone is a heretic. Genestealer cultists would still absolutely be "heretics."
There is a Warhammer Horror novel titled Sepulturum, spoiler warning. In it, there is an ancient xenos crypt beneath the hive that drives the population crazy. Kind of like Stephen King's "Cell."
On the sepulchrum thing- it might simply be that the word itself is masculine or neutral, not necessarily the occupant. I think it’s likely that it’s a mass grave.
It's possible that it was just picked because it sounds cool and means burial place, for sure. But if they DID do their homework on Latin conjugation, "-um" is very specifically a singular subject suffix. And I would assume the "subject" would be whatever is buried there. But I've definitely been wrong before.
Genestealer cult enemies are coming 2 electric boogaloo lets go!
WE ARE SO BACK!!!!!!
I think the devs are just smart about including small details like these that they can choose to pursue later if they want, but could just as easily be unimportant if they don’t.
This is a fair assessment, but I do think they've intended to be teasing Genestealers for release for a long time now. When they'll actually finally show up.....meeeeehhhhhhhhhh who knows?
@@Jo_Plays_Games my big conspiracy is that Grendyl is Tzeentch.
Tzeentch’s form is described as being comprised of ever-shifting faces with mouths speaking in different voices. He is a puppet master, and Grendyl is depicted as a literal puppet.
Tzeentch can’t resist ruining anything that benefits Nurgle.
Everything the Inquisition does is so far up Tzeentch’s alley, it would seem like business as usual if He were to pull a few strings here and there.
The Emperor is old enough to actually BE Beowulf, so even the name Grendyl would be a troll. Etc, etc.
@@Jo_Plays_Games if the warband had been compromised from the start, it’d lead to an expansion where Rannick is promoted to Inquisitor in a plot twist, and we’d get a new flavor of Chaos cultists in the mix. Maybe in Secundus or something.

Thank you for the feedback! I really try my hardest to do my due diligence in research and making sure my presentation is follow-able (because I am 100% prone to going off the deep-end of a tangent IRL).
This is a genuinely fantastic analysis
Thanks so much! That feedback means a lot. :D
I think you’re right about this genestealer thing and it makes perfect sense to have some Darktide content connected to the main antagonists of both 10th edition 40k and Space Marine 2(tyranids).
I feel like if Genestealer Cult was introduced it would be in the Special Operations as we only have the Orthus Offensive on that page, which was introduced after the first anniversary, so we are going to be due for a new special operation to add to the list in that category tab of mission map. This also helps with how we already have innumerable hive denizens that fell to nurgle, and then there is a vast yet sort of numerous mass of genestealer cultists. A special operations mission for this can be where there is a clearing out of this xeno hybrid cult cell (so when repeatedly doing it it seems like a cell was discovered again and clearing it out)
At the end fighting a Primus or Patriarch would be insane
We JUST found out today that we're getting a limited time event starting this Thursday, and it's called "The Herald of Admonition." Obviously that has NOTHING to do with genestealers, but the timing of your comment about limited time events is UNCANNY!
Sefoni also often references the tyranids (xenos deep in the hive, shadow in the warp etc.). She also mentions something the rejects only dare to whisper about: the lost hive. A hive lost to something insidious that even the inquistion's ordo hereticus is hushy about. The titular "darktide" also includes xenos, which could very well include genestealers. Hell, the male cuttrhoat mentions sometimes that he'd rather be back to fighting xenos. Now what human in his right mind would say they'd prefer to be fighting orks or durchari? That's right, fucking none. genestealers on the other hand? Just somewhat enhanced humans with mining equipment, which would in deed be a nice change of pace for our rejects.
A great video! It’s very cool if they do show up. They do infest all parts of the hive. They bide their time and strike when it the proper time. The fact that the hive is under attack will cause they to go deeper and wait, maybe even help in the fight. A Patriarch would be a really tough boss fight, they are a massive problem for Astartes, let alone regular humans. Also, very bold of you to assume I wear pants!
Here's hoping! There's so many amazing things that could get added, and also, they have been adding upper hive citizens to the character roster...... Just food for thought.
Also put some pants on!
@@Jo_Plays_Games I will never wear pants!!!

I tend to use meta arguments a lot for the Tide games. Namely, what trademarkable terms has Fat Shark used in game?
I choose to believe the residents of the void section all moved to Tahiti
@kdawg2468 they went with the Van Der Linde gang. Arthur is still alive there with them!
I know its strange but what makes me open about them being genestealers is their clothing. They wear clothing that while not exclusive to genestealers it isnt often shown otherwise, for example, the googles. The clothes are also purple which could be important.
Fatshark having put effort in to give them unique clothes for assets that so far have just show up as dead bodies is a little sus to me, too.
@@Jo_Plays_Games Its really the googles and bandana that gets me because that is very much a genestealer thing even if in lore its not exclusive to them as all their gear is stolen civilian equipment.

Ork mercenary "rejects". I believe in Gorkamorka.

i think the suspicious masked guy might be an eldar spy/agent. pointing out an obvious lost factory to the clueless humans and maybe waking something strange up is the kind of goofy move they might pull. except, hes strangely fixated on hadron, and since when do eldar care much about techpriest?
the icey snow look was interesting. but outside of refrigerated zones, where will they be able to use it as a map style? maybe high up in the spires it might be cool enough, or else some outskirt, but the outskirts are dusty in other missions.

Maybe they release tyrannids and genestealers when space marine comes out? crossover would be awesome too? I dunno. Cool video, great explanations.
I LOVE that idea. Sadly, it seems we may be waiting a minute for Genestealers in Darktide. The event that starts tomorrow seems to be nodding to a different theory I made a while ago - Rinda isn't dead and may come back as a Herald. I'm wondering if we're gearing up to finally get daemons in Darktide.
@@Jo_Plays_Games I just recently got into Darktide, and the one thing I hope they fix, is having a clear line of how to play the story, similar to how missions were arranged in Vermintide.

Deep in the hive city…. Huh. I just assumed we were in a section approaching the atmosphere without being in the more affluent parts sense it gets colder the higher up you go. Still really interesting how a single hive can have all these different pseudo ecosystems in it!
I know! Someone else in the comments pointed out how since this sector is likely situated above the Torrent, the rain in the Torrent might actually be from the ice in Clandestium Gloriana having minor melt-off. That blew my friggin mind.
It's more in a deep core of the hive and the cooling system turned it into an oversized freezer lol
They are DEFINITELY 4th generation Genestealer hybrids
I was thinking GSC could be a good enemy for the next DarkTide game if they actually do make one
Ere we go! ERE WE GO!!!

@@Roamingfirebat Thanks so much!
0:34 Kitty with the dramatic entry lol
He IS the drama.
While I would love to see GSC in Darktide, I could see how something buried in ice could lead to other nurgle stuff.
For real life inspiration, I immediately thought of how the town of Longyearbyen has a burial place for some people that died in the 1918 flu epidemic. Those people are preserved in the perma frost and scientists are worried that the bodies could still possibly contain that flu.
Only thing is that the graffiti in game definitely points towards a more active threat, so it could really be anything.
It absolutely COULD be more Nurgle. I won't deny that. If it IS, I'm hoping for a Greater Daemon, or Death Guard. But since the Water Cartel agents Swagger got the Clandestium Gloriana location from seem to pretty clearly be Genestealer Cultists, it certainly makes me wonder if that isn't the consequence we'll be facing if that zone thaws out...
The setup is there and Fatshark is getting some community goodwill back so I certainly hope they make something big for the 2year update and not just the crafting rework
I'm almost certain we'll get more than just the crafting rework for the anniversary. It feels like they're making authentic and honest community engagement a priority now, so hopefully that's a positive sign of things to come.
@@Jo_Plays_Games Got a good chuckle out of the "Back fotm the summer" post
I did too, but I still appreciate them trying to go in the opposite direction from where they have been with communication. Even if sometimes it feels a little extra and a tad bit silly.
It's a Balrog... Tertium is Kazad Dum... Morrow is just a tall Gimli... Moebian Steel is just Mithril... Ratlings will come bearing a great curio which must be purged in the fires of the great forges...
The Theory Reminds me of that one tyranid story where a big bad was trapped in ice some guys freed it and the tyrsnid proceeded to do planetary genocide with god mode on
Innnnterestiiinnnnggggg.... I did not know about that!
@@Jo_Plays_Games a seemingly immortal Carnifex named Old One Eye
@Jo.Plays.Games. -um is the suffix in Latin that denotes the word it's attached to is in the singular. Sepulchrum is simply the singular for a burial place, "(a) grave site", as opposed to the plural sepulchra, "(more than one) grave sites".
You're absolutely correct, and I'd have hoped for as many years of Spanish as I took while in school, I would have remembered some basics about conjugation that would have helped me there. And yet........here we are, lol. Thank you!
Nice mention of Space Marine 2, don’t forget Rogue Trader: Void Shadows in Sept also is introducing Death Cults and Genestealers more directly in that IP too with this DLC.
Between that, Space Marine being directly Tyranids as well, this would make sense to push them as a big faction across the video game sphere for 40K.
I didn't know that about Rogue Trader's next big update! Interesting. A lot of good synergizing going on right now. Those new Necrmunda GSC models are very, VERY cool too.
My theory is the second hive was nuked from orbit after a full blown genestealer uprising, it became taboo or seditious to talk about it. But the Patriarch managed to escape and infiltrate Atoma's lower levels, where the true Moebian Steel production takes place. Rather than risking the loss of the final Hive or attracting a hive fleet, the steel block and its workers/inhabitants were locked away with the coolant set on max to freeze the Patriarch/cult wherever it was hiding.
i like to think that true moebian steel is just plasma infused metal rather than steel melted by plasma as this would explain it's increase strength and why it would be hard if not impossible to create else were as the infusion process would be way more complicated than just melting the metal
That's an interesting idea! I like that.
‘Nids in Darktide would be freakin’ awesome. It could introduce a whole new set of enemies!
Could either be just more cultists with maybe a new elite or two (abhorrents?)
But they could also ramp it all the way up to actual ‘Nids with termagaunts, warriors and Carnifex’ like SM2 or a 40k helldivers.
I still would LOVE to see a Lictor monstrosity that stalks/hunts us throughout the level, instead of the traditional 1-2 monster encounters.
The silly thing is that for xenos hinted in game we have clues of Aeldari, then hints of the genestealers
Another thing is that the Ash Wastes that are on the outlying areas outside of the hive city periphery would be perfect for something in Darktide to be the equivalent of VT2 Chaos Wastes
You know I never put together "Ash Wastes" and "Chaos Wastes," but I'll bet you're right!
@Jo.Plays.Games. yes and new news for Thursday August 15th a new enemy in missions with lights out special conditions! The "Herald Of Admonition" which since "Dregs" are the "Cult Of Admonition" of Nurgle, maybe we are fighting up against a Dreg boss similar to Karnak twins or Rinda Karnak or an all new Dreg boss or it would be nuts if it's a Plaguebearer!
I am basically just chanting "Herald Rinda" over and over again. I made this theory 6 months ago: ruclips.net/video/Kh_dAhj4RIE/видео.html
Heralds of Nurgle are Poxbringers, and Rinda's kit is PERFECT for one.
I think the game needs more Stealer cults more then they need Nurgle stuff lol
At this point Fatshark has been flirting with actual iconic Nurgle daemons for 2 games now. I'd very much like for them to finally pull the trigger and put plaguebearers, toads, etc in. But also the game definitely needs another faction, just more Nurgle corruption won't be able to carry interest for Darktide forever.
Since you mention it, 3:10-3:20 City Of Thursium had a population of 5.2 trilions of peoples.
Day Of Ascension is a pretty good Stealer novel.
Thanks! I'll have to check it out!
Man I was wondering where my pants went.
JEAN STEALERS!
Interesting! Really curious what's in store for Darktide.
For now, it seems the focus will be on Rinda and her being the Herald of Admonition. I'm hoping that maybe this will lead to actual daemons in the game?
I obeyed the cat. 🐈
Thanks so much!
@@Jo_Plays_Games as a lifelong 40K dork, it is my duty to lift up the folks having fun and making content for our crazy passions. ^.^
Are you gonna dive into space marine 2 when it releases???
The truck park at the first carnival map ( begin, middle, end) are genesteler cult gw mining vehicule
They're ALL OVER the place in a lot of Darktide maps.
I feel it's fitting to describe the Genestealer life cycle here.
1. A Purestrain Genestealer hypnotizes a Human (or other sentient race, but Humans seem the most common target in our Galaxy). The Human will act normally except holding loyalty to the Purestrain or its' kin as a Brood Brother and will see hybrid offspring as normal but act to hide them from view. They may dress to fit into that Coven and shave their head but not necessarily.
2. If deemed appropritate the Genestealer uses its' Ovipositor tounge to change the genes of a Human so their offspring will be Genestealer Hybrids.
3. 1st generation Hybrid Accolyte, these resemble a Purestrain but may not have all four arms and be bloated and deformed compared to a Purestrain.
4. 2nd Generation hybrid Accolyte, these look more human but may have extra limbs and claws. They're commonly called "Genestealer Cultists" by GW which may confuse people thinking these are the origin of the cycle or just human cultists.
5. 3rd generation: Hybrid
6. 4th generation: Neophyte. Among these a Magus is born-a bald extremely powerful (level 4) psyker that rules the Coven. Neophytes look human except the scales in the forehead.
There are also Aberrants that are massive hybrids that can occur at any stage of the generations of the Cycle.
A Neophytes' offspring are proper Purestrain Genestealers!
As this goes on over generations the Original purestrain that started the Coven is kept safe and pampered by the Coven as "Old Grandfather" may become bloated and grow huge.
It also develops extremely powerful psychic powers (level 4).
The Magus will Defer to the Patriarch if it lives but will otherwise rule the Coven/ Cult.
This is a standard evolution, but there's also the Cult of the Many Bladed Cog.
They are a blend of Genestealer and Mechanicum creating cyborg hybrids, co-opting Servitors, Skitaari and all kinds of tech priest shenanigans.
It's probably the deadliest version of the Genestealer Cult.
They should give ogryn ork weapons since they literally have the least amount of weapon variety by far of all the classes. Weapons should include
autocannons, plasma cannon, bras knucnkles, power klaw (all classes should get this), any big ork gun inluding pistols. finally give the ogryn a space marine sized chainsword and power hammer.
I'd like to add Meltagun to that list!
I hope you're right Jo, I hope we get the denim thieves
I really hope they pay this one off!
Do you wear wigs? Will you wear wigs? When will you wear wigs?
Please replace this reply comment with the sound of Elijah Wood bursting into hysterical laughter.
Would also explain Swagger running around with a full face mask and refusing to talk about where he got the information on the location of the generator. Like I get that he's partially just teasing Rannick with that but it feels like a very weird thing to be cagey about, unless the actual reason is that he himself is connected to them in ~some way.~ Maybe the current Patriarch of the cult in Tertium is the Ragged King, and Swagger is attempting to 'wake' an older Patriarch who was frozen there. Or maybe it really is a burial ground, and Swagger's plan is to retrieve genetic information from the dead Patriarch for Grendel, but again, like. Why would Fatshark then not only hide his face, but actively go out of their way to emphasize how much effort he's putting into hiding his face, *while he's standing next to genestealer cultists?*
