Nice video I recently got a Nakayama Asagi and a Ozuku Asagi. I go from 5k Naniwa to the Nakayama Asagi and finish on the Ozuku. Been getting some lovely edges and the easiest hanging hair tests that I have done. I have also used Welsh slate and my ILR. I have just been experimenting. Welsh slate is underrated imo. Very best regards Gordon 👍
Nice video. I watch Dr. Matt’s videos. He showed a Chef Knives to Go Ozuku Asagi and said the same thing about them going fast. I checked one day, none available. Next day I got the last one of that batch. On its way. Do people flatten the other side? Do you prep it like a Chosera stone? Flatten, smooth, etc. I’m soaking up tips and hints. Thanks, Gil
thanks for watching! Most people do not flatten the other side. There is no need to. The only thing I do to prep the stone is make sure it is flat. I use a Diamond plate for that, or 220 grit SIC power for heavy lifting. If necessary I'll chamfer the edges. Thats it!
@@fishinjunky Jeff, So the ozuku needs the same prep and care as any sharpening stone. I have an ozuku natural on the way also. Can you recommend other naguras for this stone? Where did you find yours? Thanks, Gil
Diamond slurry usually works just fine. The stones I buy often come with a slurry stone too. I’d recommend joining a FB group like “Razor Honing”. I’m an admin there. Or “Straight Razor Honing”. Both are good groups to join.
Thanks for sharing! This stone was my first Jnat too, still use in use and provides great edges.
