  • Lucy is finally back...
It's time to be a triathlete again and get back to training in all 3 disciplines. We are so excited to share this news and the process of Lucy's return to running. As always we have approached with patience but everything is looking in the right direction!
As part of the comeback, Lucy delves into the importance of wearing the right trainers for your running style. Take a behind the scenes look at her recent gait analysis with Asics and how she decided which shoes to wear for which kinds of sessions.
    Lucys trainer selection freatured:
    GEL-KAYANO LITE 2
    GEL-DS TRAINER 26
    NOVABLAST 2 LE
    METASPEED SKY+
Thanks for tuning in and as always make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications to be the first to know when a new video drops!

So good to see you back! I was diagnosed with stress fracture same weekend as you, which you wished me well for.. I’m not a pro (obviously) so not career defining races, but I rested the run and did IMWC with a walk/jog as family holiday booked. What sn experience, not what planned but came back from trip stronger. Went into same as you, back to one min run, 2walk slowly up and with form and tech… spoke to Recce on messages as did Roth next, knew wasn’t totally and struggled from 27k, still finished in 10hrs something, but now back! Fit and targeting 70.30 qualification this season for Finland. Hope to see you both there and thanks for all tips along the way. It’s sooo helped and motivated - let’s smash it

I find the scientific approach to running shoes even more fascinating since i read the brilliant book Born To Run. I often wonder if maybe we've all been conned by the Shoe manafacturers all these years and that we should have been running in our bare feet which according to many studies is actually healthier. Obviously i don't have the answers but i find it very interesting nonetheless. Anyway welcome back !!!

I had have Asics Kayanoo relatively long and some years ago too , till a salesman in a special shop recommendet New Balance 880 / mod 10 to me , it was like night and day ,( but the size must be very exact to my feets .(.i also had pair half size bigger , did not have the super effect ) since then , i never looked back at asics , then i bought an older model , from Brooks Adrenaline GTS from a year before , for test ...
Brooks Adrenaline GTS are for me best , very comfortable , soft , and on trails with stones , i feel much more comfortable , then with the New Balance !!!
With the New Balance , of stones i had the feeling to turn away of every tuched stone , by Brooks Adrenaline GTS , i feel by every tuch down , to have a safe
stand and contact with bottom , thats essential to me !
For trail running with stones also and espacially on hills , espacially by going down , i feel much more safe with Brooks Adrenaline GTS , for normal road jogging , New Balance 880 are ok , but i never look back to Kayano , New Balane are a leage of its own , and for trails ,with stones Brooks Adrenaline GTS ...are some Galaxys away from the rest !!!
I am 61 years now , and make arround 100k a month with jogging , and a bit swim and bike .

I was having a hip issue that was not getting better and aggravated by cycling. My hip was also affecting my knee. I decided to take a huge step back and get to the bottom the issues. Each week my left hip/pelvis area is getting better and better. Still lots to do and a lot of weight to get off, but I know I will get back to cycling and running again, pain free. Random question because I definitely noticed my over pronation. I know you touched on the extra strength work to help work on the issue. Have you been given any professional advice on the exact areas to focus on to help fix the problem? I remember going to see podiatrist, however the issue only arises whilst running not standing / walking! Top video as always!

    Hey Lucy,
Welcome back. Look forward to seeing back on the race track.
A really interesting video about your come back but more about shoes, running gait and the range of shoes you where for what types of runs. A lot more athletes are coming out and declaring what shoes they use which is great. I run in basically the same series of shoes you are, but not Kayano, I find them to heavy, and use the Trabuco Fuji Lyte for gravel and trail runs.
Really interesting the videoing they were doing from behind (frontal plane), so I'm curious what your feelings were in the different shoes in the sagittal plane (transferring from front to back). That too is affected by the pitch (drop) of the shoes, the rocker type of bottom they may have, and the pace you run (affecting GCT), and the size/hight of the midsole, so did they give any advice around the affect of that for you and with respect to the types of shoes you wear and their advice?
Hope to hear back from you about that, its all very interesting (shoes, run gait, and every athlete's journey with in that). All the best, :)
