  • The Tenere 700 is a great bike, but there are room for improvement. The speedometer is one of these issues.
Because the speedometer is 10% wrong, why bother?
You get wrong fuel consumption numbers, which is probably why Yamaha have done it. Because your bike use 10% less fiuel if the meter is wrong.
But what else is in it for Yamaha? Your services will be done on shorter interval, more money in for them.
For you, it give wrong speed, distance, service interval and declines the value of your bike faster. So to fix this problem for you just do one of the fixes. This one is hardware permanent fix.
You can also flash the ECU to fix it, but if there is an update they will do at the dealer you are back to square one.
This method described is a permanent fix.

At first to become clear I'm a customer of this online store and I'm very pleased with my purchases and the service. I find "Off The Road" online store excellent!
I was planning to buy these rotors but after thorough tests with 2 Garmin GPS units (Edge 540 & Forerunner 620) the odometer of Yamaha Tenere 700 is accurate 100% !! So you get accurate distances and fuel consumption which are the things that matter...
But the speedometer has indeed an error around 8-10% so you see higher speeds on the dashboard than the GPS units. I've been told that is done in purpose to make rider stay to the safe side for the speed limits and all motorcycle companies do the same thing as long as the speedometers are not fluctuate more than 15%.
My particular model is a Tenere Rally 2023 with the colour dashboard. I'm not sure if is there any difference with the old monochrome dashboards...
I hope that this helps for all Tenere 700 riders...

Have you compared the distance traveled between the GPS and the bikes display before and after you switched the ABS-rings?

Yes it was 10% off on speed and distance. I asked the dealer who confirmed it is like this on the bike.
After i switched the distance over 100km speedometer was rounded off 99 km on the GPS which is fine before it was rounded off 90 km so its much more correct now.

does this screen protect you from wind?

It protect against wind, but it does not block the wind. I can comfortably travel in high speed with no issue.
But some people have buffeting with the stock screen. I do not know why, according to a whizz guy it is often due to the helmet If two of equal stature is testing, one have buffeting, the other do not.
I have tried two different helmets while riding and none is buffeting with me on. I am 6 feet tall or 183 cm tall. My go to helmet is Arai Tour X4, the other i tested was a scorpion exe helmet without beak.
But sure there is airflow it is not coconed but i have clean air and it does not bother me at all. I find it comfortable.
