The buzzing is a lil better in this one, but still bugging me. I think next time I'll be using a slice of mozzarella cheese for the mic instead.

I didnt know this book series existed, so i just assumed this was going to be a rant about whether a toad is better(or worse) than a frog
Same
nice pfp
I was introduced to this series by my dad-
I was hit with a wall of nostalgia when I saw the thumbnail.😂
This has become my favourite “rant about whatever the fuck I want” channel.
Truly love the Over the Garden Wall intertwine at the end. I think Frog and Toad and OTGW have a weird but comforting connection of humanity and appreciation for the little things.
loved this video. also, the inclusion of Over The Garden Wall at the end was so perfect, i hadnt even linked the two in my mind but they have such similar vibes, though frog and toad is a bit lighter.
Damn you explained my thoughts so well
Which OTGW song is that?
@@evelynjunem.m.6986 i believe its the instrumental of "Into The Unknown" by The Blasting Company
@@evelynjunem.m.6986 the frog playing the piano at the end is a clip from over the garden wall
When the music from OtGW started playing as he was talking about people remembering Frog & Toad for how it makes them feel, it made me tear up omg... OtGW is another understated cozy story that makes you feel very comforted
The muted colors are a stylistic choice, not a printing limitation. Plenty of books (both for kids and adults) in the era were full of bright colors. We were coming off the peak of 60s hippy psychedelic artwork after all. The muted colors and very grounded realistic look might even be a response to that style, but that's pure just speculation. It certainly made the books stand out in the crowd back when I was a kid.
The end hit hard- I never really read frog and toad, but you just describing it is making me feel nostalgic for something I never even read.
bro im dead, ive never heard someone refer to tim burton as 'timmy b' IM DYING
ALSO, the over the garden wall music over a talk on frog and toad is a combo im so here for man
playing over the garden wall music while describing nostalgia i'm here for it
I’m not lying when I say that I almost started crying when the final video chapter started with the Over The Garden Wall motif playing. Frog And Toad was very special to me and the added bonus of the best CN cartoon just made me feel all happy and warm inside. Also reminded me to go listen to the full soundtrack again!
If you want another book that focuses around small creatures you may want to look into Brambly Hedge by Jill Barklem. The illustrations are also amazing.
Frog and Toad was like the best part of my childhood, man. My family called my cousin and I that as nicknames because I guess we just had old ppl souls trapped in tiny bodies lol.
oh hey i remember reading these books as a kid
It's the first time i heard of frog and toad but the colours really reminded me of over the garden wall. Didn't expect you to mention it at the end so that was nice
A video about something abstract/narly while in an abandoned cellar would go crazy
(Holy shit 16:16 had me tearing up)
Yeah enjoy it cause that’s the part that got copy right striked
Props on you for already getting a sponsor. You deserve all the growth you got . This is definitely a new favorite channel overall.
damn u got a sponsership so fast!! it must feel really great. ur videos really are a treat so i see why you blew up! keep up the good work
Yeah honestly I think I just got really lucky lol. Don’t wanna distract from how hard I work for the videos but still, very surprising
I love your content, your ideas, and your personality. When you upload videos it makes me happy, keep doing great work that makes you happy :)
That spider bit was hella funny tho
another great video man! i love the coffee chat vibe you have going on in your videos
The outro having the theme of over the garden wall may be the best way to conclude a video ever
Historians will say they were just roommates
my dad used to read me these books as a kid and looking back i think that shaped me as a person
I find it extremely funny when straight people try to argue that a gay creator’s stories and characters don’t have gay in them, because like??? Of course they do, being gay isn’t just a flag on someone’s wall, it’s part of their every day life as much as being straight is part of a straight person’s life. If it’s written from a gay lense of course it’ll be gay in some way! As a gay creator myself I can’t fathom this type of argument. All my creations has some gay in it even if there are no romantic aspects and in ways that maybe only other gay people will pick up on solely because we view life in similar ways. Straight people can’t see it so itäs not there?? Okay maybe you can’t see it because you life life in a fundamentally different way? Anyway, awesome video! Glad more people are talking about the gay frogs!
Exactly.
You make quality content with original thoughts and humor, absolutely fantastic videos!
the over the garden wall music fits so well with frog and toad
Can you do something on wes Anderson Next? I think He has a veru unique approach to making movies
bro made me cry at the end
I grew up here in Providence, RI - I have shopped at a store named Frog and Toad since I was a child :) this is why it spikes in our location lol
This is the best answer I’ve gotten. You win.
i recently watched over the garden wall for the first time and got such frog and toad vibes from it
I got a frog and toad tattoo in Pittsburgh while visiting my best friend who I created a lot of art and music w growing up and when I look at it I feel happy for the memory and friendship even tho I live far
Thank you for the well put together thoughts. I am not an articulated man myself so I appreciate it when stuff like this is shared. I came from the eco-brutalist video as did many but I find the rant about anything-ness of the channel refreshing. It's not locked into a box so for now at least you still have passion for every topic you discuss. I hope that lasts for you.
Thanks mate
Childhood unlocked. Read these books as a kid and its good revisiting them now
I AM SO GLAD YOU MADE THIS VIDEO I LOVE FROG AND TOAD
I loved this video. These kinds of analysis on media wed otherwise forget about or when it relates to so many people is beautiful. Tying in over the garden wall was a huge finale. I love the humor too. Awesome video 🙌 🙌
This was a really well put together and researched video essay, man. I used to read these books as a kid and friggin loved these two little amphibian mfs. It's a lot more deep and wholesome than I remembered, and I really appreciate Arnold Lobel for his work in developing a beneficial kid's book series, while expressing himself at the same time. I'm rediscovering frog n toad again. It's truly a masterpiece of its time.
Surprised you don't got more views on this, man. You do kickass work. Keep going ^^
Clicked for the nostalgia, stayed for the education. Thank you 🌷
I never heard of those books but damn this video made me wanna read them so bad. Also this video essay was perfection i love the amount of perspectives that were included and i think u have an amazing ability to bring a topic to the table that everyone can take away something from. Keep up the great work dude
i love this dude. i love video essays and shit-post type of videos. keep it up man. can't wait for more.
Well, I just found out that Frog and Toad is its own thing. I always just thought it was something to do with the Wind in the Willows.
I’ve never read Frog & Toad before but this was such a lovely and comforting video essay. You’re a great speaker and I really enjoy the range and style of your content. ❤
i hope your still at the size where u can read all of your comments, but this video actually changed my life. im not gonna rewatch this whole video for this comment but you say smth abt like frog validating toads issues, even if theyre not actually important. And i just got off the phone with my gf and realized i do that and i really do think its bc of this video. I know you might just push it off as it being frog and toad, but you just put it into words so like smartly and clearly. ty gang
Thanks dawg. Love seeing comments like these for small details in a long video lol. Appreciate you, glad you liked it
Ironically I lived in Rhode Island and Virginia, and I never saw it in RI, but I saw it everywhere in Virginia.
I went to see a local production of the play a few years ago, and it was one of the best nights at a theater ive ever experienced. It was absolutely hilarious and the soundtrack is just wonderful i truly reccomend even if ur not into theater its a great time
Frog and Toad were my favorite books as a child!
Good video, I found the "zoomer humor" combined with the analysis of old media very charming. Like two very different worlds mixing together for a moment.
Damn never knew this was a book series, I don’t think we have it in the uk
Yeah I had a part in the video talking about how it’s a pretty American school system thing but I cut it out just cause of time
Dude, I would love to hear this guy talk about Over the Garden Wall!
What a fantastic video, that ending had me crying about a series I'd never even heard of 30 minutes earlier
Love the outro was OTGW, perfect :3
1. love that you kept your promise to film in a weird ass place for next video 2. I'm bouts to binge all your vids on your channel I love it lol
Great video essay! Lots of excellent points made. While the Apple TV show for frog and toad did stray away from some aspects of the books’ style, the production team did the stories justice. The show adequately echoed the good feeling of overcoming challenges with the people you care about.
Like how you used the Sate music near the end. It can't help but remind me of one of the best films about male friendship--My Dinner with Andre.
grew up with these books, man the nostalgia
Yes we did it boys another Monster House enjoyer!
I hope you don't misplace that tiny microphone
just bawled my eyes out whilst you read out the final story thanks dad
the frog an toad musical's soundtrack slaps
YOOOO, I love frog and toad! Another banger video frfr
mm okay I have an idea, if frog and toad was written by a gay guy it’s possible it was popular in the lgbtq community at the time, Vermont was the first state to legalize same sex unions and that lead to lots of gay people coming here, my parents included and I read this book as a kid, this would’ve been the late 90s early 2000s, just a wild coincidence for me that this book was popular in Vermont
Wait that’s actually a super interesting thought. I could definitely see that happening
this is wild we are currently producing frog and toad the musical
you are baackkkk!!
Yay another upload :D
Now do over the garden wall
Please..
SO REAL
I enjoyed this video. Thank you 😊
I love watching a youtuber knowing he's going to places
I discovered your channel with your video on Brutalism because I was preparing an oral on Brutalism and you shared a vision of Brutalism that I also had and that only a few people talk about. And then you made videos about animation (that's what I'm studying). You're really the channel I dreamed of, you're a bit below Markiplier but that's for reasons... I'M NOT GAY BUT.
Btw man can cry and during this video, I cried, such good stories
The point of the swimsuit story, in my opinion, is to help children develop the ability to be comfortable in their own skin and the way they look. It helps teach self-confidence.
The story illustrates that if you are outwardly expressive about your insecurities, you bring more attention to them. People (other children) are more likely to hone in on your insecurities if you make a big deal out of them in the first place. So why not be confident? (As is displayed in Toad's 'walking back home' illustration)
As we grow older, we can develop more nuanced thinking in regard to self-confidence and freedom of choice that is sometimes accompanied by subjective silliness in the eyes of others. This includes the inherent foundation of embarrassment in this way being a social construct. But those are very complex things to grasp.
The story Lobel wrote provides a solid guideline into grappling with those feelings in the social context that children exist within. The way we handle those feelings typically evolves as we become adults. But I think the story is a perfect introduction to handling them for the intended demographic - kids :)
Great video, that camera audio is hard to listen too though. that background noise nearly drove me mad but the silly lil frog and toad guys kept me going
Props to you cause that noise was painful for me to edit lol. I bought a new mic so hopefully it fixes the problem but omg you’re right it’s borderline torture to listen to
@@joshuabushman7 I hope you make it big my man, keep going.
this was a good video to wach with lucy, thank you :)
Another fantastic outing!
i love these books
w youtube video
YES!! THIS GUY!!
This whole video is really good, I especially like the 'Things I feel that are important' section since I don't really see that stuff about masculinity talked about too much. I completely agree, it is really important to say, thank you for bringing it up!
Dude, you inspire me to start making videos again. You're so cool! If you ever want to collaborate on something, let me know!!!
Do it
You should have taken a bow at the end of this masterpiece
This video is very beautiful thank you
"Frog and toad, is like, two people in his mind"
*showed a picture of 2 wolf kissing*
Me : this is so beautiful (was not looking at the screen)
and just when i thought i had forgotten abt the hit movie "epic"
It was honestly life changing (except the snails. The snails are annoying)
I saw Toad and Frog instantly clicked
what extension was used to lower pitch?
One dislike bro? Man that mf must be feeling really goofy
It would be amazing to have a video essay from you about over the garden wall. You can certanly talk alot about it :D
Hi mate, no clue if you’ll read this but you’ve convinced me to buy the book. Cheers so much!
Nice
Bro your haircut looks fire 🔥 and the glasses are stylish as fuck 👓 My great childhood memory of Frog and Toad is the claymation series on VHS.
Using the OTGW theme for the end bit was as devious as it was effective
this is beautiful
Have you seen marcel the shell with shoes on? Wondering bcus you said you like small little guys
I tried to, but it was an absolute nightmare to try and see in theaters. I just have kept forgetting lol
There is a frog and toad are doing their best! It’s a parody lol
I'm one of the letterboxd followers, i love it
Hahahaha I literally discovered the frog and toad series last week (but from the stop motion animation adaptation)
I went to see the Play in North Phildelphia as a kid
Oh yeah I should probably plug all my stuff as usual. Letterboxd, TikTok, instagram, you know. I literally care way more about getting 200 letterboxd followers than getting 10k on RUclips lmao
nice
Shoutout rhode island hellllll ya, with that said idk why 😂
yoooo, another video
This is the content I expect from a Hagrid kin.
another great question to ask is "why is the joke funny?" make them explain why the bigotry is a joke
“ruining” the outro with all caps by mf doom is hilarious
Deadass making that Mf doom song work took me an entire day just for a stupid bit lmfao
WTF I LIVE IN VERMONT AND YES I KNOW ABT FROG AND TOAD WHAT IS THIS
Im from RI and i can't tell you why
Ay you gotta get outta here STAT lol
Hi
Edit: dam someone already said hi
