    Reading some comments I see more and more how some people are willing to cut their nose off to spite their faces. No wonder why our crime rates are so high because our people are not willing to compromise even when it's for their own good. Injuries are a part of sports, for anyone to say and act as if it's coaches fault it's just absurd. Athletes get injured sometimes away from training. Like him or not Frano and his team produces the goods. We are so comfortable with do nothing people that we easily show disrespect for the productive ones.

    Elaine Thompson needs a close friend who she is able to trust with just about anything to sit her fown and have a one and one with her on the topic. Elaine's pride is too much, and it may well stand in the way of her seeing that Mr Francis is still her best option. Elaine is like a daughter to Mr Francis and she should submit, get her pride out the way and mend the broken fence between them. Mr Francis is just a straight up person who tells how he feels, but it doesn't mean that Elaine was never one of his favorites.

    • @MachelN25

      While you may well be right, there is a way that people make it seem as though Elaine is completely at fault in her leaving the club. There is no use accepting an apology without changed behaviour - that is called abuse! It is good that there is a softening of ways, but we must also consider that one hand can't clap. It was surely not a one-sided affair that lead to her leaving, considering the dire outcomes of not being able to go to Worlds last year or the Olympics to defend her titles! No one would take such a drastic decision without reason or aforethought. To suggest otherwise is to assign her all the responsibilities of keeping this relationship going.
      Please remember that athletes' careers are dependent on the extent to which they can be successful at their craft, but coaches are no less implicated in that scenario. If they can't manage to keep a relationship grounded and the athlete focused on the task at hand, then there is a comment about their leadership and overall effectiveness which needs answering as well. Let us be balanced in this hurry to single Elaine out as being solely responsible!

At point in time, the only thought that should harbor in our minds, is what's best for Elaine moving forward. I believe that her best move would be to go back to MVP, because it seems as if that's the only training club that works for her. I have never been one of those to blame her nor her husband for the decision that they made, because there must be a valid behind it all. There are many things that have been kept secret surrounding her move and I get the feeling that they will remain just that. Also, it would be a sensible move for us, the fans and critics, forget about laying blame and encourage her to return to MVP before it's too late.

  • @MachelN25
    @MachelN25 3 месяца назад +4

    Just to amplify a comment I made below (twice, in fact!). There is such a desire to punish Elaine in how we speak about her. In fact, the sense that she is the sole party at fault in her leaving the club appears to mask a much more pernicious issue - several of the big-named athletes all left the club in the past, and, at various points, at the heights of their careers. Names like Powell, Frazer-Pryce, Simpson and a few others come to mind, here! That says that Elaine's decision to leave, however dire it might have ultimately turned out to be, was neither surprising nor a one-way street. Therefore to penalise her for her presumed 'pride' and 'ego' implies that all that is necessary for there to be a change is an apology. Simply put, an apology without changed behavour is tantamount to abuse!
    It is good that Mr. Francis has also come to recognise the impact of his earlier harsh words on further alienating Elaine, and it is even better that he is upfront about saying he has reflected on his words since, and has a more nuanced position now. But it is also important that people give Elaine the same grace that his remarks suggest he is asking of the public. Wan an kyaa klap! It takes two to tango. Elaine left for a reason, even if that is, as people say, at the urging of her husband; the decision was ultimately hers. Considering that she missed Worlds last year and the Olympics this year, both of which were only two and three years after after Tokyo, says to me that that decision was not an easy one, nor lightly taken. Please afford her the grace to consider before we start pouring out all kinds of venom, veiled either as 'advice' or 'innocent' observations!
    (We must learn to come away from the dysfunction of abuse and punishment. Give Elaine the grace (and privacy!) to make the decision that is best for her!)
    PS: When I say, missing Worlds, I meant as an individual finalist.

    I have to assume that there is no coach that knows Elaine and what it is she needs to succeed better than Stephen Francis. If he feels that she would greatly benefit from one of those facilities with all of the latest and greatest high tech training and rehab equipment then maybe that needs to be explored to see what options may be available. National pride is essential to our sense of unity and purpose. It fosters a consensus of belonging that helps define who and what we are and who we want to be. We all need that to some extent or another. But we should be careful to not allow those imaginary lines drawn on a map to have us cutting off our noses to spite our faces. If MVP's house is full and he recommends the US then go for it. Nothing to lose. Everything to gain.

    Derron has sabotaged Elaine not once but twice. It might have been OK to leave MVP for financial reasons if, and only if, Elaine switched to another top notch proven coach. But apparently Derron believes coaching is easy and anyone with a couple of years of experience in coaching can be almost as good as Frano. The second change when Elaine left Shanikie was inexcusable. Derron's focus on money prevented him from thinking about how Elaine needs special treatment because of how fragile she is. Every effort should have been made to work things out with Shanikie instead of rushing to make another coaching change.

    There were persons who seemed to have been offended when I said for Naldo to train ETH on the side, she would simply be a side hustle as his priority will always be to his contracted and committed athletes ie members of his track club. Well here is Franno saying the very same thing. However I also hear a more conciliatory tone in his comments this time around. He did say he "wouldn't say no". If her connections are serious they would immediately contact MVP, she would of course need to do the ritual of 'kissing the ring' ie. apologize for past venomous comments made against Franno and MVP and of course commit her loyalty once again to him and the MVP organization. I honestly DO NOT see this happening though because while Franno said he never had a problem working with her and she never had a problem working with him, there was 'this voice' in the background giving her competing instructions and when she eventually got married Franno said he knew he would have major problems as that 'voice' now had a much larger platform from which to speak. For her to go back to MVP Am fairly sure Franno well first want to know how she plans to deal with competing instructions as I dont think he will want to be competing with that voice at any time in the future.

      Francis knows where all the fast tracks are around the world by putting her on a specific schedules to traget the world record at point in her career..

    Elaine doesn't need MVP and she wasn't having it good there either. 2016 and barely made it back for 2021 and that's because the Olympic was pushed back.
    Go to USA? I thought Jamaica has the best coaches.
    When Elaine was at MVP her current coach was the one working with her some of the time. Francis is not being genuine. Stop being so Francis minded that you can't see through him.
    Francis doesn't want her to have success outside of MVP and that's simply it.
    T stop making excuses for Frano. American athletes get injured just the same. Tyson Gay was out for long. He ran injured when he came second. Carmelita Jeter retired early because of injury so what Francis is saying is nonsense. Open your mind.

    • @GraceandFavour2024
      @GraceandFavour2024 3 месяца назад +2

      Stephen Francis is a top coach and you always seem to have a negative comment when he is mentioned. The statistics are there, he was able to take Elaine to a double Olympics Champion. Yes Elaine didn't medal in 2017 and 2019 but she still had run fast.

    • @Headonwriter
      @Headonwriter 3 месяца назад +1

      @@GraceandFavour2024 So the truth is negative uh. I am not easily sold on nonsense when truth is available. Francis speak as if he's the only coach in Jamaica that can prepare a top athlete.
      Let me show you just how hypocritical most of you are. When it was announced that Alana was going overseas to train most of you said no why didn't she train with her high school coach or MVP or any other club but not overseas. Now that he's claiming that 99.9% of the coaches here can't coach Elaine because of her type of injury, you'll quick to swallow his nonsense.
      Shelly was at MVP and since she left the so called best she's going faster, explain that one. Shelly had a toe injury and it wasn't until she left MVP that she was able to manage it, explain that too.
      I'm not saying Francis is not an exceptional coach but don't let it seems as if he's the only one. If so, aren't we in trouble when he eventually retires.

Shelly won almost all her major championship races running 10.71 or 10.70 and majority of the times celebrating before reaching the finish line.... aren't those runs 10.6? Also they were done after three or four rounds!!!! The other reason is that Franno also encourage her to drag the races on the circuits so as to not be the favourite but a underdog unlike Walcott who speed har up from early & let har go pan the circuit to run fast whether Championship year or Not! If we all noticed, Shelly don't really run faster at championships becz all Walcott did was to speed up her already mvp speed and maintain it to the championship whilst Franno usually have her dragging races in order to be a underdog! he could tell her where to go , not just anywhere overseas ,it’s just that I believe he was saying and that’s indirectly of course, that he knew somewhere that he could tell her to go, so obviously Stephen Francis must be acquainted with some one who has the right equipment or knows the mechanics in applying the proper treatment in effecting the desired result, as far as Elaine’s injuries are concern.
