If you could only pick one, would it be the 24mm f/1.4 GM, or the 85mm f/1.4 GM, or would you get the Sony 24mm GM and then a Samyang 85mm f/1.4? I don't have enough money for everything. :)
I love that you made a review after using it for a year instead of right after buying it. Sometimes the longer you have it, the more things come up that you didn't notice before. Thanks for sharing!
The price was tough to swallow, but I take my 24 with me everywhere. It doesn’t matter if I’m doing astro, landscapes, street, the occasional portrait, my 24 GM is getting used for at least a bit of it. I love it!
Trevor M Honestly, all of it. I prefer a wider focal length and 24mm is about perfect for me. Usually I prefer a 35mm but I have an a7riii, so I can easily crop in. I love its fast aperture, it’s weight and size, and just the general feel of it in my hands. For me, it’s just a lens that really makes me want to use it.
J J That’s kind of a tough one. Obviously zooms are more versatile but I prefer primes. And if I could only pick one prime to travel with, it’d be this one. I typically shoot wider shots and like I said, 24mm is pretty great for most of the styles I enjoy (landscape, astro, street). Plus I also have an a7riii, so I feel comfortable cropping in a good bit. Usually, my kit is just my 24mm, 55mm, and 70-180mm, so I feel weird if I don’t have it with me.
Absolutely agree with you. I really love my 24GM. It's perfect for travel photography. A few days ago, I've just added a 50GM to my camera bag for portrait shots. It gave me superb Bokeh. Personnelly, this couple is perfect match for me.
Ha,ha, Pierre-I certainly didn't overthink it! I bought my copy while I was waiting a ride to the airport and about to start a two month trip! It was waiting for me when I got back - talk about delayed gratification but totally worth it. As everyone who owns has been saying- it is a special lens and I can't wait to travel with it!
i absolutely agree with you. 24mm Prime is the most versatile lens you can choose. You can do nearly everything with it. And especially with 1.4 and close focus distance, you can shoot indoor, you can do environmental portraits, you can do close up photography with nice bokeh and so on. If only one lens, i would choose the 24mm. I loved my 16mm 1.4 Fujinon (=24mm on FF). And i sold all my Fuji gear and go with FF in the Future (because of dynamic range and shadow recovery). Maybe Sony and 24mm 1.4 or the Nikon Z6 and 24mm 1.8. But will go with only a 24mm lens. Less is more. Do Photography since 35 years, and meanwhile i can say, 24mm is the most versatile lens ever, you just have to learn, what you can do with it, and it´s a lot
I have 4 Sony and 2 Tamron lenses for my A7M3 and the 24mm GM was my first and still is the most used lens. 24mm just works on so many occasions for me. Just to name a few points, low light shooting is epic with this lens, the bokeh has the quality of the 85mm GM, the lens is so small and light that just like Pierre says it's much less intrusive in street photography than the usual full frame lenses and one of the best things is also that I know no other wide angle lens where distortion is such an absolute non-issue. My second most used lens is the 100mm STF GM, so I actually use my 2 prime lenses more often than my 4 zooms ;) PS Using prime lenses is actually very normal for all the Smartphone shooters out there, so I don't know why it shouldn't be normal on full frame cameras as well. Prime lenses are superior in many ways to zooms and the only disadvantage is actually the obvious ... the missing zoom.
For landscape, nature, street and more I use Sony A7R4, Sony 24mm 1,4 GM, Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8 and Sony 135mm 1,8 GM. I want Sony to make 1,4x and 2x extenders for the 135mm - thank you very much Sony !
Trying to decide between a combo of the following: 24 + 55 or the 35 + 55 + 85. My rationale for t 24 + 55 is that I can crop (I mainly shoot video) which will give me 24, 36, 55 and 82 with two lenses....
Great video.. Everyone seems to be doing lightroom presents, love to see you do some for capture one as it is way better than lightroom in my opinion..
The lens has fanstastic microcontrast, very rare in Sony branded lens. And put it on an a6x00 body, it's the best 35mm lens in Sony ecosystem. It's always on my a6400.
I own this lens and I find myself using it the least of all, even though 24mm is my favorite focal length. I primarily shoot photos and videos of my family. I purchased it expecting massive improvement over the Tamron 17-28mm, but actually it is holding up well against the 24 GM. For video I find the 24 GM useless. The focus breathing is really bad and my camera keeps hunting for focus. Also AF is much slower than the 35mm which I also own and is an excellent lens. I just think it is a bit too narrow for certain situations. I was hoping the 24mm I have is a bad copy and I returned it to Sony, but they checked and returned it saying that it functions as intended. I couldn’t get a refund as I had already destroyed the packaging as required for cashback. Yes it does give me good photos at times, it is my only lens purchase that I regret. I really don’t understand all the raving comments about how good and versatile it is.
thinkng of getting this lense as my 1st for the A7s3.... what do you think of this being my 1st and only lense for a good while...since of he price tag ! nice video btw. loved the style
Did you do it? How you liking it? I just sold my 80d w/sigma 35mm 1.4 and upgraded to a sony a7iii. I gotta decide if I should get the 24mm or 35mm for my only lens to shoot with for a while.
I do have a Sony 24 mm f/1.4 GM and a Sony 85 mm f/1.8. I agree that they're amazing and are a wonder to use, even if I find the auto-focus of the 85 mm super slow (but it forced me to work more with the manual focus, which is interesting!). I just discovered your video by chance and it's really great and well explained. Thank you!
Was anyone here debating between the 16-35 2.8 and the 24? Looking for advice on which one to go with? Looking mainly for taking landscapes. Is the 24 wide enough?
I use a CHEAP old adapted 24mm 2.8 lens on my a7iii... it cost me $100 rather than $1400. my rationale is I'm generally not as worried about background blur with a wide angle, the whole point is to get perspective / scene in addition to your subject. So I can get away with manual focus and f2.8... mainly because I can "run and gun" with it using zone focus (set to 5.6 and choose a critical focus range of 3 to 15 feet and you can pretty much ignore focus for a lot of things). Also the size of the 24mm 2.8 is MUCH more of a lightweight, small prime lens feel than the f1.4 which is still huge by prime lens on mirrorless camera standards. I will however spend good money on an 85mm 1.8 autofocus to accompany it... The point of that lens is background separation and thin DOF.. meaning autofocus is a MUST and worth spending the extra money. Luckly sony makes a decent one at under $600, so no need to throw your money away on a GM lens (I suspect Pierre got his 24 GM for free, but I could be wrong). Just my 2c !
Your dream is going to be my reality in three days, I can't believe it, two weeks after getting the 24mm and seeing the results, it's like the 135mm sucked out my mind...
I’m considering this lens or the Tamron 17-28 f2.8 right now. The price of the Tamron is better but everyone seems to love the 24mm GM. I love doing landscape photography but have found myself more and more interested in street. My current setup is a7riii + Tamron 28-75 f2.8.
I think most people who do video choose the 24mm F1.4 as their fav, and those that only do photography choose the 35mm F1.8. I agree either paired with the 85mm is ideal. Although if you have the 35mm, you will need something else for astrophotography (I use 16-35mm F2.8). Great Video! I would love to see you do a video on lens strategies. To me I am always balancing flexibility, portability and image quality (obvious price too), but how I chose to do that definitely had some mistakes in the journey, and definitely has compromises. Anyways interested in what you think.
Those 2 lenses you mentioned near the end of the video are the exact two that I have for my a7r4. The 24 is my favorite lens of all time. Thanks so much for the video Pierre!
Hi J J , I haven’t tested the 28-200 unfortunately. All my lenses are prime except for the Tamron 70-180 which has been spectacular for me regarding weight and size.
Have the 16-35 2.8 GM on FF, and the Sigma 16mm 1.4 on crop bodies. Big and versatile vs compact and light kit. Trying to justify a 24 1.4 on FF but maybe not worth it in my case. Thanks for the video.
I shoot with an A7RIII and my 16-35 f/2.8 has been my favorite lens thus far. I want something a bit tighter so looking at the 55 f/1.8 or maybe even the 85 f/1.8, but I keep getting distracted with this lens and a few others.
Pierre, I think you have done a fantastic job showcasing the low light capabilities of the new Sony 24mm F.14 GM. I liked the video and subscribed to your channel. Do you think the low light capabilities of the 24mm F.14 GM outweigh the 16-35mm F2.8 GM for outdoor low light video conditions drastically? I do a lot of low light virtual walk tours with the 16-35mm F2.8 GM right now (Using A7iii body + Zhiyun Crane 2 Stabilizer). I usually set the focal length to around 17mm or 18mm to compensate for the Sony 4K video crop and Adobe Premiere software stabilization crop while still providing a true virtual wide angle experience. Despite being absolutely blown away by the 24mm F1.4, I am concerned it is simply not wide enough for my style of videos. I definitely welcome your opinion if you know any better alternative. Anyway I would greatly appreciate if you could check out my recent videos and provide HONEST feedback. Subscribe if you enjoy :)
Pierre the first prime lens I bought for my A7II was the Zeiss Batis 85mm f1.4 and the second was the Sony Zeiss 16-35mm f4. Going through my files I found the vast majority of the photos I took with the 16-35 were right around 24mm, and so I decided to pull the trigger on the 24mm f1.4. Since I got my A7RIII the 24mm pretty much lives on it, except when I want the compression/look of a longer focal length and voila the 85mm is there. So happy to hear your go to lens combo is what I landed on myself. I love love love the 24mm for its performance but also its size. Can’t say enough good things about this lens. Walking around, close ups of people and my dogs, wide shots in the Shenandoah National Park - it just does a great job. Super follow up to the previous video, which factored heavily into my decision to buy the 24mm in he first place.
Great video. I used the 24-70 GM as my main lens for years but a few months ago went 16-35 G Master and it became my favorite lens. I could see where the 24mm which is smaller, and 1.4 vs 2.8 could definitely be worth trying. I have the Sony 28 f2, which is a super sharp lens though the G Master lenses have proven superior.
For Street Photography, it seems difficult to change lenses, or you may miss lot of good shots. My favorite lens is Tamron 28-75 F/2.8. This lens is not as fast as your 24 and 85 F/1.8 lenses, but fast enough.
My approach here is basically bring ONE for the day, and another lens for a different session. It'll force you to hunt around for locations and subjects that work for the lens you have on the body, and take mental notes for things to revisit when you swap lenses on a different day. Swapping lenses constantly I find really annoying and interrupts my creative flow. That said, assuming the 24mm is mostly used to capture scenes, and the 85mm is for capturing subjects... You could bring both, keep the 85mm on always because you don't want to miss a fleeting moment with a subject... if you stumble upon a good scene, momentarily swap to the 24mm, snap it, and swap back to the 85mm. It's easier to miss a shot of a subject than a scene. I probably wouldn't shoot this way, and I actually will pick ONE lens for a day of street shooting.. Then another day I pick a different lens. It just keeps me in a "Creative mode" that focuses on the limitations and advantages of a given focal length. Yes occasionally I miss an opportunity.. But I feel the constraint usually works to my advantage (creatively)
Salut pierre !
I just got a 7iii, I cant afford two lens. One but best. I do lots of videos. Table top level, toys reviews and playing with characters and creating stories. Indoor family pictures and out door videos with nature and travel. What lens you recommend. The best. Is this the one?
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I always found 24mm and below destorts image if used for vlogging. Personally I prefer the 35mm it's the sweet spot between wide vs zoom.
i agree with 24+85 setup. I am currently on Fuji APS-C system with a 10-24, 23 and 50, it’s about 15-35, 35 and 75 FF equivalent. But I feel 35 is a bit tight so I will get 24+85 when I upgrade to SONY FF by the end of the yr when a7 iv is released. I personally have my eye on a7 iv with 24GM and Sigma 85 Art DG DN.
This is a great lens: small, large aperture and a very useful focal length! I don't mind the price if this is only lens I am going to use in the years to come. The only reason I may not like is the distortion from a such a wide focal length. How do you feel about the distortion for portraits?
Would you prefer a Sony a7 iii with kit lenses or the Sony a7 ii with this lens? I found a used Sony a7 ii for a great price and I was thinking about getting an a7 iii, but I'm not a professional and I think my money would be better spent getting some amazing lenses before I splurge for a newer camera. Any advice is appreciated. I only have about $2000 to spend for now. For $2000, I could have the Sony A7 ii, the kit 24-70, kit 50mm and this amazing lens Sony 24mm F/1.4. I'm interested in mostly astrophotography, landscapes and taking better pictures of my family when we travel. I figure I can always upgrade the body down the road if I get more serious into photography. I'm upgrading from the Nikon d7000, so quite a big upgrade with whatever I choose.
Someone let me borrow this lens and trying out on an actual shoot has me sold! Now, to find it second hand or more affordable as over 1k is a tad more than I hoped to spend on my next lens haha
I use the Zeiss Loxia 21mm f2.8 on my a7r3. It is tack sharp and has very little distortion, but of course it is a manual lens. And whilst it’s great for architecture and 50% of my landscapes, is too wide for most street photography. As I have the 135mm GM f1.8 (fabulous lens), I am considering the 55mm or the 85mm GM.
Thanks for the video, however, having purchased it on Friday and having tested it over the weekend I am incredibly disappointed in this lens. I hope I just have a bad copy that will be replaced. Basically all my videos recorded with it are ruined. The image quality is *fantastic*, but it is causing a very annoying buzzing sound throughout the video. Sometimes it just sits there like a buzz in your ear after having visited a loud concert, but often also increasing in volume and becomes really loud. I haven't figured out why it happens, as focusing from close to far doesnt seem to cause it. I have eliminated all other reasons. Took it off the gimbal, removed my magnetic filters and the issue still appears. Tried my other lenses (Sony 35mm f1.8, Tamron 17-28, Tamron 28-200) and none of the same happens.
@@method341 it seems like I have a bad copy and is currently in repair. Everyone else reports it as silent. Hope they will resolve the issue as it does piss me off. Image quality is great, just make sure to test it a lot during the return period as apparently Sony isnt.
I'm thinking about to go full frame with the A7R III. The Sony 24mm 1.4 would be my first lens (and in regards to prices of good full frame lenses probably the only one for a while).
FYI the only downside of the 24mm f1.4 is chromatic aberration at wider aperture. Stepping down to f4 removes it completely though.. Just keep that in mind.
Love the 24 f1.4, but have the Batis 85 f1.8 as the Sony 85 f1.4 is big. I’d love Sony to release an 85 F1.8 GM to the same build and features this lens has.
Yes they show it near equal to the Batis 85 f1.8 I already have, which is fantastic for the price. The build, feeling, aperture ring and optical characteristics of the Sony 24 f1.4 GM are at another level, but Sony choose to implement them as an 85 F1.4 GM, whereas the same build in an 85 F1.8 GM would be even better for me as it it would lighter.
Hi Pierre, I just received the 24gm lens and it is super sharp BUT it makes a strange noise as it auto focuses. I can actually feel a slight "clunk" each time i press the shutter half way in order to make it focus. I am wondering if this is normal or I should send it back? Thanks
Thank you for your reviews! I just got my Sony a7iii and can’t decide between the Sony GM 24-70 mm or the 24mm 1.4 or the 85mm 1.4?!? I do mostly portraits, newborn, maternity and family photos and of course the occasional personal travel photos. What would you recommend? Thank you!
My only problem with this lens is color saturation, my other Sony and sigma lenses gives me more color saturation then this 24mm GM. It's like the colors are compressed a bit. I have to push the colors more in my photo & videos in post when using this lens.
Hi Pierre thanks for all your videos is really cool, I have this 3 lens your are talking about, my felling in night street photography is I love the 85mm f1.4 GM because you catch good composition with amazing boken without afraid the people some country people are afraid to take photo so near than them, and to take wide pic in street during day or sunset I préfère the 16/35 f2.8GM but at night really like the 24 mm the information we got at night is really amazing, For the video I love the 24 mm f1,4 GM is really crazy at night in the city or in astronomy. I will like to mention for new photographer is really good exercise to do street night shoot with 85mm and 24 mm is really different composition you need to move to find the right one and both will take amazing result if you let your creativity going up. See you soon merci continue comme sa on adore.
Je souhaiterais avoir ton avis si tu as 5mn à me consacrer. merci. A bientôt pour une prochaine vidéo (en français!!). Micka Lambert
I have the lens but I rarely use it. I shoot weddings, portraits and sports. I only use it in crop mode (36mm) so that new sigma 35 f2 is looking appealing. I guess I’m holding on to this lens for travel photography after the pandemic. I feel like I wasted $1400
Thanks so much, Bro. I have both 24mm and the 85mm but I guess it’s because I am not making good use of my gear. I have been thinking of going into shooting commercials for local restaurants in my area and I have been thinking of getting Tamron 28-75mm or Sony 90mm macro but after watching this video, I think I don’t necessarily need those additional lenses. Presently I am into portraits and also my own music videos
I changed only the 85 for the new Samyang 75, I find it with more contrast and a better bokeh, you can find my last picture with it on Instagram: cesarecallisto
I have a 24 f1.4 but it is quite huge (not Rf 85 1.2 huge, but still) so I usually end up taking the really small and lightweight 28 f2.8. I should really try and take it with me more often.
Pierre T. Lambert i was so tired when I typed. That’s the 24 2.8 that I usually have with me. 🥴 (but to be fair the 24 and 28 2.8 have the exact same size in EF glass). With the longer nights, I’ll tray and go shoot some Christmas lights in Paris in the coming days; 24 1.4 should be perfect for this.
@@guillaumebouqueau I have the 24 f1.4 and it is superb for shooting Christmas lights at night- tack sharp and detail for miles. I absolutely love mine and do not resent the cost of it.
Is there a big difference between the 24-70 GM and the 24 mm ? Okay the Aperture ...but Domhof think if i had the 2470 2.8 that I need the 24 1.4? Is it really better ?

im pritty happy with it
Picked up the tamron 17-28 and it's currently my favorite ultra wide angle zoom
Brian Duaqui ditto, by far, my favorite is the 17-28, a true ultra wide angle that’s compact. Pair with the 85 and call it a day.

A must have lens. I prefer this lenses over the 35mm f.1.8 if I had to choose one over the other. The 24 performs incredibly in my 7R4 in APSC mode
The 24 GM is absolute magic. Love it on my RIV. I pair it with the Sigma 24-70 and 135 GM which gives me a pretty complete bag for what I shoot IMO.

Thanks for the great review ... I am convinced that a 24mm & a 85mm are my lenses to pick up!!
Selling my 24-70mm GM f2.8 and getting the 24mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8 as you recommended! I have been debating this for far too long! Thank you!
I want that lens so badly! The 24mm GM and the 135mm GM! 👌
Your dream is going to be my reality in three days, I can't believe it, two weeks after getting the 24mm and seeing the results, it's like the 135mm sucked out my mind...
Been using a canon m50 for nearly three years now just got Sony A7R IVA and waiting for delivery of Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM, hope it makes a difference.
I’m considering this lens or the Tamron 17-28 f2.8 right now. The price of the Tamron is better but everyone seems to love the 24mm GM. I love doing landscape photography but have found myself more and more interested in street. My current setup is a7riii + Tamron 28-75 f2.8.
Had the Tammy. The f1.4 gives you more creative space I think, plus workflow with extra buttons is great especially for video
Just ordered my 24mm GM and I am SO excited!
Thats a really good observation
Those 2 lenses you mentioned near the end of the video are the exact two that I have for my a7r4. The 24 is my favorite lens of all time. Thanks so much for the video Pierre!
if you could only bring one lens for travel what would you recommend? i have an a 7r3
J J If I could only bring one lens it would be a 24-70. Not a prime
@@giovaniyester2157 due to the flexibility?would you put it better than the new tamron 28-200?
Hi J J , I haven’t tested the 28-200 unfortunately. All my lenses are prime except for the Tamron 70-180 which has been spectacular for me regarding weight and size.
@@giovaniyester2157 got any wide angle prime recommednations? batis 18mm? sony 20mm?? Anything like those?
Thanks for the content. I just picked up this lens today and the 40mm f2.5 G I'm so excited to try it out.
I’m currently shooting with the GM 85mm F1.4 love it. But definitely looking to pick up this lens within the next few months.
If man can afford to get and should use only prime lens, then absolutely both
I just bought this 24mm F1.4 lens the day before yesterday ,expensive but worth it…😊
Pierre, I think you have done a fantastic job showcasing the low light capabilities of the new Sony 24mm F.14 GM.
This is the lens I wanted, but I think, I will buy the GM 24-70 f2.8 before. What did you think?
You can answer in French, I from Switzerland 🇨🇭 😉
24 1 4 il y a aura un effet wow sur les photos
Heyy, hesch s 24-70 scho kauft?
The two fabulous: 24-1.4 and 85-1.8! Couldn´t agree more ✌️
Susana Metzger that is exactly what I have for now, and I have one more 24240 for some specific situations.
@@antiartliu Yep, me 24-105 f4 to shoot events
Just ordered mine today. How is the super crop when using the A7iii?
Was about to purchase this lens when the 35GM made things complicated.
Super follow up to the previous video, which factored heavily into my decision to buy the 24mm in he first place.
would you recommend it as a travel lens?
I am a first time camera owner and I got this as my first lens. Wondering if it’s the right choice for a beginner
I agree I only have 2 lenses 24-1.4 and 85 -1.8 love both lenses
I've also got the 85mm 1.8 and thinking about getting this one
The star photos blew my mind.
Salut pierre !
I just got a 7iii, I cant afford two lens. One but best. I do lots of videos. Table top level, toys reviews and playing with characters and creating stories. Indoor family pictures and out door videos with nature and travel. What lens you recommend. The best. Is this the one?
Sony 24mm f1.4. + sony 90mm macro + sony a7r5 + apc mode =❤
Do we all wanna ignore the fact that when Pierre talked about the price, the background music starts playing the chords of the song "price tag" 🎵🎶💸😂👌🏼
I just got the lens recently. Will be getting a chance to use it to create some dance photos and environmental portraits. So, this should be awesome!
Excellent video how close you can get to the subject with this lens? Plx reply thanks
Pierre would you recommend the 24mm or the 35mm?
Just bought and used 24mm and am loving it. For videography, which other lens would you recommend?
Je commande ce 24GM, je lance RUclips quelques minutes plus tard et ohhh! Une vidéo de Pierre sur le 24GM...
Just get the Sony 24-105. It's wonderful. I get very shallow DOF at F/4 on a full frame camera.
Its not always about the bokeh, F1.4 is 3 stops faster than F4, which is just too slow for indoors/low light environments
Hi Pierre, do you still use your 16-35 GM or you'd rather be on the 24mm GM most of the time?
24GM f1.4 gooood
Neither, he uses the beast of a 20mm f1.8 now haha
applicvids 6 months late on the reply, of course he’s using a new lens now duh
@@kidcut what makes that lens better?
Someone let me borrow this lens and trying out on an actual shoot has me sold! Now, to find it second hand or more affordable as over 1k is a tad more than I hoped to spend on my next lens haha
Great video timing! I am actually getting one today! :)
Its #1 on my list! Hope to have it soon. Thanks for a great review.
Love this lens. So much. Great video!
Now that the 12-24GM is out, will you keep the 24GM or sell it for the 12-24GM? Are u using back button focus?
Congrats on the new baby Pierre and Trina! Exciting sleep deprived times 😁 How old is he/she? 🤱🏻
Do you find aperture ring useful on this lens?
Congrats on the baby, Pierre!
Pierre always saving me.
Thanks for this. I was going to buy this for doing talking head videos but that sound is a big no-go. I think I'll get the Samyang 24mm 1.8
@@method341 it seems like I have a bad copy and is currently in repair. Everyone else reports it as silent. Hope they will resolve the issue as it does piss me off. Image quality is great, just make sure to test it a lot during the return period as apparently Sony isnt.
@@wvansluisveld3011 that's good to hear, tell me how you get on with the replacement.
Pierre hi! What lens do you use for your vids? is it the 16-30GM 2.8?
24mm will become the new standard as all smartphone also use approx. 24mm as main lens.
@@Boltwin89 thanks for the tip!
Thank you. What do you think about 35 1.2 sigma?
I already have a 24 and I had plans for a 135 but you’ve made a convincing case for an 85 instead. Maybe I’ll trade my 55 for it.
Yeah 85 for the win! Way smaller!!
Love the 24 f1.4, but have the Batis 85 f1.8 as the Sony 85 f1.4 is big. I’d love Sony to release an 85 F1.8 GM to the same build and features this lens has.
Have you not seen the reviews of the existing Sony 85mm 1.8 mate? That lens is amazing
Thank you!
Definitely 1.4 lenses when baby's small, dont run around, and family photos.
Running kids, get 24-70
gordonyz4 - thank you for the advice!
if you have baby i think 24 is a good for you it small lightweight ez to use it low light is great for me.
My only problem with this lens is color saturation, my other Sony and sigma lenses gives me more color saturation then this 24mm GM. It's like the colors are compressed a bit. I have to push the colors more in my photo & videos in post when using this lens.
I bought the 35 f1.8, would love the 24 but dunno whether I'd end up not using the 35?
If you shoot people more and don't always want to distort them, then you will not use the 24mm more than the 35mm.
I love the missing paint on body of camera
Lens reviews today should be in 4K
Je souhaiterais avoir ton avis si tu as 5mn à me consacrer. merci. A bientôt pour une prochaine vidéo (en français!!).

I have the lens but I rarely use it. I shoot weddings, portraits and sports. I only use it in crop mode (36mm) so that new sigma 35 f2 is looking appealing. I guess I’m holding on to this lens for travel photography after the pandemic. I feel like I wasted $1400
Voigtlander 40MM Nokton F1.2 - but I’m a rookie. Will try the Sony 24MM GM soon... I hope.
I have 24 GM + 85 1.8
For me is a killer combo for all
I’ve been thinking of something similar but with the 55 instead - that or the 35, 55 an 85 together...
I changed only the 85 for the new Samyang 75, I find it with more contrast and a better bokeh, you can find my last picture with it on Instagram: cesarecallisto
Cesare Callisto ill check it out!
I'm waiting for mine to arrive, got a great BF deal 😎
Most of my shooting is night time street or astro so this is going to be perfect.
Oh yeah you're gonna love it!
Same! Waiting on mine as well! You a got a deal from
Where?
But the 85 is a portrait lens, and starts distorting at f5.6, so you can't shoot landscapes with it at f11. Love my 24 GM for landscapes.
I have a 24 f1.4 but it is quite huge (not Rf 85 1.2 huge, but still) so I usually end up taking the really small and lightweight 28 f2.8. I should really try and take it with me more often.
Yeah you should! True compared to a 28mm it's bigger!
Pierre T. Lambert i was so tired when I typed. That’s the 24 2.8 that I usually have with me. 🥴
(but to be fair the 24 and 28 2.8 have the exact same size in EF glass).
Is it really better ?
did you record this with the 24mm 1.4 GM lens ?
