It’s called incantation. When the user isn’t strong enough to simply use the technique, they have to use the incantation to generate the spell. Peak it is
This reminds me of the original Final Fantasy Tactics for PS One back in 1997. To use any type of magic or to summon monsters there was an incantation. "Wind, fade to silence and light, give us power! Shiva!"

Kidou takes a lot of energy and skill, the higher the number the more power the casting requires. To much power while trying to cast a low number results in it backfiring/exploding. It really shows how much skill and power Urahara has with being able to fire off several in a row like how he did with Aizen.
@@alyssakelley4995 it doesn't require more energy at all. It requires more control, bad control usually means the kido is weakened or u blast yourself with it by accident. In addition, he was always very rushed in training, so i doubt he would've been able to sit still and learn it while also learning everything else (hollification and soul king training being the only 3 training moments where he could've possibly had someone teach him since every other time was under threat of possible death, i.e. when he was trying to be a soul reaper again/getting his bankai or with non soul reapers like the fullbringers). but i think with the hell arc he might've learned something (we dont know yet but im hopeful). would be cool if they show him use at least some basic hado or kido since he's older and could've gotten proper training if he wanted.
Always thought hado and kido were useless until the final battle of soul society arc when aizen used it against komamura and it became even cooler than some bankai and shikai when urahara used them against aizen which was the moment I thought they should explored more of this than some zanpakuto
This “spells” are something all shinigami could technically learn. Meanwhile the zanpakutos are arguably more powerful and unique between each individual shinigami. So it kinda says a lot when one of the major villain manages to dominate like crazy with mostly just kido
The way Aizen walked away from a job well done without giving a single F about the smartest man in bleach and blocked a high-level hado from a kido commander all while being lieutenant is so freaking epic.
This didn't even show all of Hachi's spells did it? He had those INSANE sealing ones that kept getting more and more nuts until they ended up looking like an FF Summon lmao
I wish we got more examples of kido (and cero for that matter) taking people out/being devastating. They very rarely accomplished much on their own, which is unfortunate for how cool they can be.
The kisuke vs pre chrysalis aizen battle basically shows us how powerful kidos are, urahara didnt even use his shikai,he just used a lot of kidos with perfect timing to hit him with a direct blow using hado #91: Senju Koten Taihou and pushed aizen to the point of evolving to his chrysalis state and thats where he used his shikai.
Hado 90: Kurohitsugi will always be the most ridiculously cool kido in the series. Of all possible kido, which we can assume Aizen mastered all the numbered ones due to him "reaching the limit" of shinigami potential, he chose to use kurohitsugi against Ichigo
@@alexterieur8813 I aint smart so here goes something you never asked for: ever noticed how most of the powerful shinigami that can perform Kido (except Urahara) have favourite spells that usually do what they zanpakutos usually cant, despite them themselves being able to do it with their speed and raw strength alone? Byakuya's Senbon Sakura slices and dices everything it touches, so his favourite Kido is #61, that allows him to bind ppl without having to move, something Senbon Sakura wouldnt do without killing the dude... except for the fact that he probably could just restrain them with his immense speed but I guess Mr Cold Heart's too cool for that same thing with Aizen, Kyoka Suigetsu is literally the perfect shield, if someone looks at the blade then they cant do shit against Aizen cuz its just gonna be an illusion, but it cant really hurt people, so I guess he likes big "fuck everything there" type attacks, mostly high level damaging ones... *if of course you just ignore the fact that he could 100% just slice them with his immense raw strength and speed* but I guess *Mr Professional Chair Enjoyer* is too cool to just use a sword except that one time he ripped off that captain's hand so I guess thats it, it makes him look cool and threatening, thats the reason why it represents Aizen

Like everyone else I agree, kido should be explored more! A shinigami with an arsenal of spells would be a force to be reckoned with, instead of just relying on one move that their shikai / bankai offered. Take for example Rukia before she got her powers back, she was versatile with kido spells but now only limited to just ice
That's what was cool about the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc. They just needed more varied Hado, but Bakudo was pretty interesting and featured a couple that we hardly ever got to see, if ever. Also Hakuda itself would be nice to see more of too, because there's even fewer experts of it than Kido, and sometimes one would have to act immediately.
Bakudo N°73 Soren sokatsui by Rukia during the hueco mundo arc vs Aaroniero Arrurueri it's nice to see these it's a shame they didn't use it fully tho especially in games
Kido always seemed like an added bonus to a Fighting style. Like the guy with the chains electrifying them to shock his opponent once he had binded them. Or Byakuya using it to stun or restrain opponents that get in close range (his main weakness) But overall they seem pretty weak aside from a few and only when used by OP characters m
1 year late but they're using bakudo which is why it's weaker cause that's just the restraint stuff then there's hado which is basically destruction in subs
Since you mentioned Byakuya and his weakness ... I wonder why he had to sacrifice his arm when he could just bakudoed Tsukushima during their fight. Byakuya is so noble, his brain would automatically default to not using backhanded means. 😂😂😂
One of the most epic moments in Bleach is when Dangai Ichigo casually shattered Aizen's Kurohitsugi without even trying. And that was epic for one reason. We've seen Aizen oneshot Komamura with Kurohitsugi. So we knew how fucking OP Ichigo had to be to obliterate such a powerful Kido technique.
Kido as a power system should be explored wayy more since there’s still at least half of the hado and bakudo still unknown, not to mention the forbidden or secret kido not known to us and in addition there’s also kaido which although don’t need no incantation might be able to be used in different ways than just basic after battle healing
Filler can be pretty painful, since they keep spamming Hados 31 & 33. I wish they could get more original. For example I really like one that shows up later, Zangerin, since it incorporates the Zanpakuto, like Tenran. But by the time it's used, it just has no effect. It's pretty sad. It would also be pretty cool to see more Ura Hado too, since we've only seen one so far, and makes one wonder if there's Ura Bakudo too.
@@hitkid2456filler actually used a lotta kiddo Ouko used Hado 58 and bakudo 99 and a few others Koga used adamantine blast and others as well Amagai also used Hado and I think Kariya did as well Maybe you just didn't pay attention to it much
I like the time kido was given spotlight which was when rukia was able to do double incantation to attack Espada 9. She also utilized the kido which only Byakuya can do perfectly so far in the series. Kuchiki supremacy 🔥
I’m sorry, but how could you forget Twin blue fire crash down (number 67 or 73)? When Rukia set up that whole trap and used it for the first time that was a damn awesome kido

Kido was so underutilized. But it also made sense. Being able to cast a spell that just outright defeats a captain-level combatant in one go without the incantation like black coffin would've made any fight involving an actual captain who should be able to cast that spell a joke.

Hado is a form of Kido though. There’s 3 form of Kido; Hado (destructive spells), Bakudo (binding spells), and Kaido (healing spells)
@@tonykowalski4189 okay but would be cool to see more sad that they're almost forgotten in tybw only aizen used it if I remember manga correctly
@@tonykowalski4189 bakudo is both binding and defending
This “spells” are something all shinigami could technically learn. Meanwhile the zanpakutos are arguably more powerful and unique between each individual shinigami. So it kinda says a lot when one of the major villain manages to dominate like crazy with mostly just kido
Love Hadou's and Bakudou's 🥋🗡️
Sadly I don't think in non filler that there are any fights that primarily use only kido attacks. Kinda sad
Those spells kinda defeated aizen
The way Aizen walked away from a job well done without giving a single F about the smartest man in bleach and blocked a high-level hado from a kido commander all while being lieutenant is so freaking epic.
Most of them have such a nice aesthetic.
I wish Ichigo learned a couple so we could see the learning process atleast.
Watching this made me wish orihine picked up some techniques. Would have suited her battle style tbh
True but idk if humans can do kido
@@sketcho1771 probably true, it would have been cool to see orihime do a Hado 88 lmao
@@123495734 Everybody is surprised if even captain can pull that out instantly. Orihime is on very different level xD
Doesn't need for that
She is the strongest to save people
@@sketcho1771 only shinigami can use kido
This didn't even show all of Hachi's spells did it? He had those INSANE sealing ones that kept getting more and more nuts until they ended up looking like an FF Summon lmao
Hachigen and Urahara's kido are my favorite. They looks dope
I wish we got more examples of kido (and cero for that matter) taking people out/being devastating. They very rarely accomplished much on their own, which is unfortunate for how cool they can be.
Yes we have secret hado num 3 as well and more others
I am from the future
The kisuke vs pre chrysalis aizen battle basically shows us how powerful kidos are, urahara didnt even use his shikai,he just used a lot of kidos with perfect timing to hit him with a direct blow using hado #91: Senju Koten Taihou and pushed aizen to the point of evolving to his chrysalis state and thats where he used his shikai.
Dude that kido is what sealed aizen
Missed #73, Soren Sokatsui. Thanks for catching all of the others though!
man it always bummed me out how little kido gets used. truly a captivating power system
idk if anyone's gonna read this but I used to "use" some of these moves out loud in our house. I still do sometimes now, but not as much haha
Me too, especially the Hado 90 and Hado 99
@@kangtae-shik555 yes lol
Hado 90: Kurohitsugi will always be the most ridiculously cool kido in the series.
Of all possible kido, which we can assume Aizen mastered all the numbered ones due to him "reaching the limit" of shinigami potential, he chose to use kurohitsugi against Ichigo
It's his signature move imo. Someone smarter than me could probably come out with an analysis of why this kido represents Aizen perfectly.
wait until hadō 99: goryuu tenmetsu gets animated
hado 99 goryu tenmetsu is cool though
Hado no 99 :Goryu Tenmetsu >>>> Hado no 90: Kurohitsugi
@@alexterieur8813 I aint smart so here goes something you never asked for: ever noticed how most of the powerful shinigami that can perform Kido (except Urahara) have favourite spells that usually do what they zanpakutos usually cant, despite them themselves being able to do it with their speed and raw strength alone? Byakuya's Senbon Sakura slices and dices everything it touches, so his favourite Kido is #61, that allows him to bind ppl without having to move, something Senbon Sakura wouldnt do without killing the dude... except for the fact that he probably could just restrain them with his immense speed but I guess Mr Cold Heart's too cool for that
same thing with Aizen, Kyoka Suigetsu is literally the perfect shield, if someone looks at the blade then they cant do shit against Aizen cuz its just gonna be an illusion, but it cant really hurt people, so I guess he likes big "fuck everything there" type attacks, mostly high level damaging ones... *if of course you just ignore the fact that he could 100% just slice them with his immense raw strength and speed* but I guess *Mr Professional Chair Enjoyer* is too cool to just use a sword except that one time he ripped off that captain's hand
so I guess thats it, it makes him look cool and threatening, thats the reason why it represents Aizen
4:38 the most epic
Clearly, you don't own an airfryer
What came after was even more epic but he cut it 😠
Nah bro 3:57 is a lot more epic
Ichigo: wait, so every time I fought someone I realized that I'm just spamming getsuga tenshou
Bleach has got to have the best explosions in Bleach. They look so impactful and swag. Very fire and underrated
Koga also used some ancient/unnamed Kidos. One of them managed to break Danku, though it was not instant. Might be around the level of 88-90.
Really?
Urahara Kisuke is the original Gojo Satoru. Change my mind
Wdym jjk is literally inspired by bleach so it's not surprising
@@nash7857 I got that when byakuya used his bankai against renji and ichigo and tosen using his bankai against kenpachi
how so?
urahara is super intelligent and has healing powers
go/jo is a sorcerer who's completely relies on his genetic advantages
@@roywempor8395they're both cocky and funny but when it's time to stand on business, they have it covered
And another thing is how they evaluate a situation, you can literally see Urahara in gojo when that happens 😂
Everybody gangsta till tensai and hacchi start casting kido🔥🔥🔥
I just love Kubo keeps forgetting he has written some Force powers and just focused more on the Lightsabers.
Also Hakuda itself would be nice to see more of too, because there's even fewer experts of it than Kido, and sometimes one would have to act immediately.
i wouldnt be surprised if ichigo's grandpa was a kido specialist
Bakudo N°73 Soren sokatsui by Rukia during the hueco mundo arc vs Aaroniero Arrurueri
it's nice to see these
it's a shame they didn't use it fully tho especially in games
Quincys: can steal bankai
Gotei 13: "oh no! If only there were some other way for us to fight besides our bankai!"
Every 80s+ kido: ...
As a bleach fan, this is a nice touch
Dude imagine you want to use a special attack but you don’t remember the number 😂😂😂😂😂
For me it's the name 😂
Some names are just ridiculously long 😂
Kido always seemed like an added bonus to a Fighting style.
Like the guy with the chains electrifying them to shock his opponent once he had binded them. Or Byakuya using it to stun or restrain opponents that get in close range (his main weakness)
But overall they seem pretty weak aside from a few and only when used by OP characters m
Urahara be spitting 90s level kido like it's child's play
learning japanese numbers with bleach be like:
Kido is so op that it helped me learn the names of the numbers in japanese from 1 to 99

I just love how Urahara spams all the binding kido he knows just for aizen to not care
Man this year bleach is coming back hard this october
@@hitkid2456filler actually used a lotta kiddo
Ouko used Hado 58 and bakudo 99 and a few others
Koga used adamantine blast and others as well

I'm surprised no one had a Bankai or shikai that revolves around this ability. Although there have been many with similar type I guess

@E L L E Ember I meant a sword that was able to use these spells not having something similar to a spell
@@eliscore yumichikas true shikai was described by him to be a "kido based" zanpackuto
I like the time kido was given spotlight which was when rukia was able to do double incantation to attack Espada 9. She also utilized the kido which only Byakuya can do perfectly so far in the series. Kuchiki supremacy 🔥
Actually makes you wonder what the higher level kido can do when a hado in the 50s erases things from existence
Imagine being such a powerful Kido user that you were still capable even if your Bankai was stolen 🤔

Kido is how strong? It gets glossed over all by all Powerscalers ever,
but Aizen got an Upgrade and was fully pieced by a Level 90 Hado
Kisuke invented. Kido is strong but how does it scale?
Hiryu Gekizou Shinten Raiho is the badest.. ! Plus Shontentaiho. That blast Urahara did at the end was stuff of legend
i love kido, i just wished we got more of it, like in black clover or naruto where the SPELLS or ABILTIES r properly explained
Cant wait for five dragon destruction
Kido & Sado are underrated in Bleach.
0:23 Lilynette got unoreversed
Kido was so underutilized. But it also made sense. Being able to cast a spell that just outright defeats a captain-level combatant in one go without the incantation like black coffin would've made any fight involving an actual captain who should be able to cast that spell a joke.
urahara and that big green shirt guy are the best ones
