To me it was exactly the other way around. I reached 4000h when I was at around 970s but those last 30s were really tough. But finally 4 days ago I reached 1000s and today the channel got monetized 🙏
I am running this channel since 2014. Watch time was never a problem then. It was easy to rank on search engine, but now it is not possible. Many big media house (traditional news channel) are making video on anything and everything. Now When you upload your video on similar topics , you don't even show up on search engine.

@@sammyma1867 I use a GoPro with the just built in mic when I’m out on the bike (although I do have wind slayer foam cover on it, to reduce wind noise) and for my studio videos I use a Canon R6 with DJI wireless mics. I only have access to that camera because I’m a photographer too though, so I can justify the huge cost of it. Honestly though, you could just use a modern smartphone with a cheap plug in lavalier mic and you’d get good quality sound and video. Also, the key to better video is lighting. I could write you a thesis on how to light videos but it might be quicker for you to just search up some RUclips videos for ‘cheap video lighting setup’. 😂 Whatever kit you have though, don’t let it stop you creating. People want to see you and your ideas. The kit comes second to the story. Best of luck and keep grinding. 👌🏻

Thanks as always. Id add that you get paid when your payout total exceeds $100. So turn your monetization on asap when approved because depending on your channels ad rates it can take several tens of thousands of views to reach that. Not a big deal but worth noting for those who are expecting, or hoping for an immediate payout.
So if you don't hit the scale number requirements for your long form videos and/or RUclips shorts in the required time limit, are you automatically rejected? This monetize system is the hardest to achieve.😭
As someone who has been monetized and then demonetized, definitely be aware of fair use and how much footage you use from elsewhere. Im trying to get my content back on track, but you could avoid a situation like mine if you just use common sense.

Is it possible to monetize a channel about making videos about anime scenes and moments for example? Even if you dont have any copyright issues like by showing certain scenes and editing well ? Highly appreciate your feedback
It's a good question. I 'think' as long as the livestream gets converted it will count all the watch time from the livestream (both live and as VOD). But it's not clear in the support pages.

Whoever is reading DONT give up on your channel. Think about all the hard work that you have already put in. Every youtuber was once in your spot they just kept going. One possible correction, Ad Campaigns, e.g. Video Ads do actually count towards your 4k watch hours. I do run a few video ads for my videos and it has always counted towards my requirement.
Think of this! All the ads now shown on non-monetized channels where creators are getting nothing would normally show on monetized channel where creators would be paid!
At first the road to monetezation was tough but since shorts, subs went a lot faster. I still need 1.5k watch hours but the subs are almost there. If anyone reads this, keep going. You can make so many memories and meet so many new people, so keep up with your dream.
One thing i wish youtube did is give you a reason why your video has a copyright claim cause i work so hard on a certain video trying to make it original and it just gets copyrighted 😫😫 i just want youtube to give me a reason 😢

I once heard a very successful "HOW TO ... " RUclipsr say that "He NEVER subscribes to other people's RUclipss, he just lets RUclips ALGORITHMS show him what he WANTS to see" ( It may even have been you but I can't remember) ... This is very well for someone who has reached the ONE THOUSAND RUclips subscribers requirement, but for the rest of us, if everyone did that then NO ONE would EVER be MONETISED.

We put lots of hard work into our videos and we saw some traction but recently video views have dipped due to retention I think. So currently in the process of trying to fix that. Any ideas how to keep your views consistent?
i think there's a few important things for this and i'm struggling with the same problem. posting consistently can help keep your audience coming back, and as for retention i'm not sure either, but maybe the intro is taking too long? also, maybe by presenting a question or something like that at the start might help hook the viewer in and make sure not all the information is close to the start or they'll quickly click off when they find what they need. hope this helps 😃

If you get monetized with 1000 subs & 4000 hours of watch time then you lose that 4000 hours (for example 3999 hours) then would RUclips demonetize you?

Mine been slowly going down, I think it’s because it’s resetting or I’m just not getting enough views for it to increase. @@vidIQ Right now I have 90 public watch hours. It was higher a few months ago, but it’s been slowly going down as of lately. Honesty I’m not sure if that’s when it resets or if it’s something else, because I’d imagine the reset just wipes your watch hours clean or something

I have reached the 4k watch hours mark but I'm still under 400 subs. Trying to gain subs as a small youtuber is really hard because you have so many factors, you may pick some returning subs that never like videos, hindering it's reach to pick up new viewers, I've noticed some videos hit a point for like 10 hours my vid went straight to 600 views on the upload day then in the analytics it basically just nosedived immediately almost as if something said NO more for this video, no copyright claim or anything or TOS breach, it just weirdly went up and it's like somebody took some scissors and went snip, for an example it went like this -> /|

It's just sad! At first when I applied I wasn't accepted due to reused contents, so I had to delete all the reused videos. Then on 26 march I reapplied again but I had to delete some videos again, where I lost all public shorts views, I got a message on YT studio saying when I'll meet requirements they can Email me.. unfortunately March 27 4PM they sent me another message saying I can't be accepted to join YPP due to reused contents!! It's confusing me because now I'm doing voice over videos so I'm scared to continue posting this type of videos. I don't wanna loose my data and time 😢 And hey does that mean viewers don't see ads with reused contents remember that's most importantly, think about it. Thanks!

Got my 10th sub today and my watch hours are more than my subs as well. That could be true. Although monetized creators haven't reported a noticeable loss in revenue since this started happening.

" RUclipsr say that "He NEVER subscribes to other people's RUclipss, he just lets RUclips ALGORITHMS show him what he WANTS to see" ( It may even have been you but I can't remember) ... This is very well for someone who has reached the ONE THOUSAND RUclips subscribers requirement, but for the rest of us, if everyone did that then NO ONE would EVER be MONETISED.
Our journey is the destination so please enjoy it ... and have no expectation or insistence of the outcome, that's when Miracles will happen... when we get our physical mind out of the way... keep creating content because it's your joy, an expression of your soul ..I only started 2 months ago and I'm getting ads already one of my videos about crying . .. is this the algorithm that puts the ad in as it scans your content or a human placing it? thank you another inspiring video

We put lots of hard work into our videos and we saw some traction but recently video views have dipped due to retention I think. So currently in the process of trying to fix that. Any ideas how to keep your views consistent?
i think there's a few important things for this and i'm struggling with the same problem. posting consistently can help keep your audience coming back, and as for retention i'm not sure either, but maybe the intro is taking too long? also, maybe by presenting a question or something like that at the start might help hook the viewer in and make sure not all the information is close to the start or they'll quickly click off when they find what they need. hope this helps 😃

Because it's counting the last 12 months of watchtime. The watchtime that falls out of 12 months no longer counts. That's why it will be fluctuating.
I have crossed 4000 watch hours long back and yet to reach 1000 subscribers. Trusting the process. 🔥

@@vidIQ It's not semantics, the title is clearly misleading. "How to Get RUclips Monetization IN 5 MINUTES!" transparently wants people to think they can get monetized in 5 minutes. There's not even a comma.
"How to Get RUclips Monetization, *explained* in 5 minutes", or more accurately & succinctly "Monetization explained in 5 minutes" are obvious titles to use.

Our main goal was never to be monetized. We wanted to enjoy what we are doing and share what we love. It has been a year and because we are so niche, we are not yet monetized, but also not a rush or need to get there. It will happen if and when it happens. Thank you for your videos.😄
If you get monetized with 1000 subs & 4000 hours of watch time then you lose that 4000 hours (for example 3999 hours) then would RUclips demonetize you?
Then have the right to, but it's unlikely as long as you're posting content.

Thanks for these tips as always vidIQ. I’m well over 1k subs, nearing 2k, and the watch time requirement is a task that’s not been easy for me. Mine been slowly going down, I think it’s because it’s resetting or I’m just not getting enough views for it to increase. Hopefully that’ll change someday, doing the best I can with my content, and whatnot. And of course I do enjoy the content I post, which is good for me. How much watchtime do you currently have?
@@vidIQ Right now I have 90 public watch hours. It was higher a few months ago, but it’s been slowly going down as of lately. Honesty I’m not sure if that’s when it resets or if it’s something else, because I’d imagine the reset just wipes your watch hours clean or something
@@vidIQ I also forgot to mention that I have 90 public watch hours from the usual videos I make, since that’s what I’m going for right now, instead of the 10 million public shorts views

I think when i switched to one video a week it did begin, though I don’t wanna go back to 2 cuz 1 video a week is a comfortable enough pace for my liking
I have reached the 4k watch hours mark but I'm still under 400 subs. Trying to gain subs as a small youtuber is really hard because you have so many factors, you may pick some returning subs that never like videos, hindering it's reach to pick up new viewers, I've noticed some videos hit a point for like 10 hours my vid went straight to 600 views on the upload day then in the analytics it basically just nosedived immediately almost as if something said NO more for this video, no copyright claim or anything or TOS breach, it just weirdly went up and it's like somebody took some scissors and went snip, for an example it went like this -> /|

At first when I applied I wasn't accepted due to reused contents, so I had to delete all the reused videos.
Then on 26 march I reapplied again but I had to delete some videos again, where I lost all public shorts views, I got a message on YT studio saying when I'll meet requirements they can Email me..
unfortunately March 27 4PM they sent me another message saying I can't be accepted to join YPP due to reused contents!! It's confusing me because now I'm doing voice over videos so I'm scared to continue posting this type of videos. I don't wanna loose my data and time 😢
And hey does that mean viewers don't see ads with reused contents remember that's most importantly, think about it.

There are many content creator in RUclips hooking you to watch longer mins of blah blah blah. You stand out among all of them. We have the same philosophy when making a video. You are inspiration to newbies like me.
My friends and I reaction channel absolutely crushed our watch time but we still slowly accumulating on subscribers lol we’re at 393. I also started a personal gaming channel. Got my 10th sub today and my watch hours are more than my subs as well. I’m trying to figure out what changes I need to make if anyone has any tips or critiques on what could be the problem I’d love the help.
