You were wrong! In Season 2, Episode 21, Paradigms of Human Memory (the insane asylum episode), the reminisce about filling in for the Glee Club who had died in a tragic bus accident.
The only thing is, she's got a great singing voice and it's a shame she didn't get to use it fully. But Alison's physical comedy is up there with the best.
15:19 It was actually mentioned in that "clip show" episode that the study group had to fill in for the Glee Club after its members had died in a bus accident. 😂
6:56 I think this is the first time I've ever seen any reactors get the Body Snatchers reference. This is why I was so happy for Blind Wave of all people to react to this show. They'll get more references that will go over most reactors' heads. Also it's funny that "Oh Britta's in this?" is Eric's favourite part. That line has become iconic and follows Gillian Jacobs around now. Any time she's in anything, people comment that line.
I’m so glad they caught it cause I never got that reference until now. I’ve seen this episode a million times, but it never clicked for me. It was probably the oddest part of the episode for me. But omg, the reference is perfect. I’m going to appreciate it on every rewatch now.
The cool thing about this episode; It upstages the show Glee by having 𝑨𝒍𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 all original music. At 14:52 They have mentioned in the Season Two episode "Paradigms of Human Memory" that the study group previously filled in for the Greendale Glee Club after they were all killed in an "accident."
As much as I cry-laugh for "boopy doopy boop doop SEX" my favorite line has got to be "cuz I am Jehovah's most SECRET witness" because the word play is top tier. * chef's kiss *
The Annie bit is so hilarious and so intentionally cringe. Funny lyrics, so well-performed, and Jeff's reactions are on point. Alison Brie's hotness might undercut the message a bit though lmao, or maybe it reinforces it?
She is hot and not 19 but you know she is using the fact that shes like 13 years younger and hot to tempt a man and pretend to be more and more innocent as a lure. Its not real but it works
The "clip show" episode is when they referenced they had to fill in for the last Glee club because they died. Also, they were friendly with the cast of Glee, I think, but I still love, to this day, that they decided to parody a show that was on TV the same time as them. This is also the third (at least) time they made jokes about Glee.
Dan Harmon also liked to poke fun at the show Glee because it was filmed in the sound stage immediately next door to Community's sound stage on the Paramount lot, add to that Harmon's and the entire cast's unpleasant run-ins on the Paramount lot with the cast of Glee who were notoriously self-righteous and had over inflated egos from their show's success over Community. Harmon loved making fun of them.
So stoked y'all got the "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers" reference!! This probably my favourite episode, so good to see how much you guys enjoyed it too.
Fun fact the "we'll see you all after regionals" is an allusion to the real life status of Community moving to mid season and/or going on hiatus at the time. Seeing your reactions to this just makes me appreciate this gem of a show all the more.
Community's sound stage used to be right next to Glee's, and Dan was uuuhhh.....not the biggest fan lol. Ironically they gained a pretty high level of respect for Glee after doing this episode and experiencing the level of work it took. Just another example of why Community is GOAT status. Anything any show can do, they can do better
This is in my top 3 Community episodes. They could have coasted on mediocre music, but they went hard. That, the Invasion of the Body Snatchers story, and the behind the scenes dig at Glee (who was their biggest competitor in this time slot) make this one so perfect for me.
Season 1's Christmas episode was the one where Jeff gets into a fight with Anthony Michael Hall and Shirley gets mad about it because she's trying to recapture her family Christmases by throwing a party with the study group.
There are countless iconic lines from Community but Abed's "I like liking things." is the one I actually carried with me since then. It sums me up pretty good and it's my get out of jail free card from anyone who question my taste in anything.
15:16 the glee club thins was in one of those flash backs in s2e21, Annie actually said that it was because the old glee club all died in a car accident, their bus crushed.
This is up there for one of the best episodes to watch reactions to, between Annie's "performance" and Mr. Rad admitting to murdering the last Glee club among other things.
I lose it every time with Pierce's reaction to Abed and Troy's song to Shirley breaking to go "sing with the babies" and Annie's iconic Santa Baby spoof😂😂😂😂
You were almost there on the prior mention of the Glee club when you mentioned the episode with the flashbacks to things that we hadn't seen. In that episode one of the flashbacks was to the time that they had to take over for the Glee club. After which Annie said that the reason that they had to cover for them was because they all died in a bus crash
This video has some of my favorite moments: Eric singing the Batman TAS intro and then quitting Calvin trying to live life while covering his ears (while learning that Eric is half deaf.) And Eric turning when Mr. Rad said, “look kings of Leon!”😂
4:13 britta, Annie, and Shirley all do different parts of “hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil” by covering their ears, eyes, and mouth (I can’t remember who does which tho but it’s funny)
Glee was filmed in the lot across from Community, it aired in the same time slot and kept winning awards and acclaim, so there are a ton of sly digs at Glee littered through every season - one of the best running jokes in the series.
I think it was being shown this episode that made me watch the entire show from the beginning. Perfect pastiche that shows love for the very thing it's mocking - plus the usual laser-sighted characterisation and brilliantly funny gags all through.
There’s a group on RUclips that did a body snatchers musical scenario just like this called The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals. It was actually really good.
My top 3 community episodes are all in season 3 and this is one of them. None make me laugh as much as this. I've literally watched it dozens of times.
Love love love your reactions to Community! Might i suggest, if you enjoyed this concept of musical takeover, you check out Starkid's The Guy Who Didnt Like Musicals? Whole thing is on RUclips for free (and it would lead you down an interesting rabbit hole)!
Alison Brie's voice during that song always made me think she could be a pretty good Harley Quinn. It's getting up into that range and she can definitely do the manic/fun/scary switch pretty well.
Community's Christmas episodes these first 3 seasons were all so different but each so great. All 3 of em are in my list of favorite episodes. The lyrics in all of these songs are really quite clever and fitting to the characters they are for. You guys mentioned all the other songs but I really like Mr. Rad's first song, specifically the intro... Glee! It’s a feeling you get / When your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants / Glee! It’s like a drug that you use / That turns your pain into shoes and your shoes into dance!
The episode where they're having the flashbacks and Abed realises Jeff and Britta are boning and the rest of the group is like YOU'RE THE REASON WHY THIS YEAR IS SO DARK. They find a tiny glee club trophy and jeff/britta were reminiscing whereas the rest of the group were bummed out because the only reason they had to join glee was because the first glee club died in a bus crash. Edit: it was in 2x21
In this episode, insted of everybody have a winter fever, everybody have a Glee Club fever. I know Glee and any parody of Glee is not everybody cup of tea but sometime some people just want to sit down and litsen to what song they gonna play on that episode. And "Britta the Worst" save this season holiday. Even Abed realize how to destroy the Glee Club fever is by let that one person sing....

5:25-6:00 , the longest period ive seen Aaron silent while watching Community ))
In an episode chock filled with hilarious performances for some reason Jim Rash's delivery of "oh Brittas' in this?" fucking kills me every time
Lol it’s because his deliveries are just so earnest!
MVP line of the episode close second your not taking both of them Troy to Annie about her Bubbie
I've always loved Jeff's "Is this a bit?"
in the "oh" filled with a subtle disgust that seals it as perfect
I've said it before but Alison Brie deserved some kind of award for getting through that Santa baby routine so well lol
I've got one for her
She won our hearts
The only thing is, she's got a great singing voice and it's a shame she didn't get to use it fully. But Alison's physical comedy is up there with the best.
knowing alison brie, she was probably very on board
A great exhibition-ist of some of her talents and proclivities.
Dean: "And to think they were *this* 🤏 close to regionals"
Pierce: "What the hell are regionals?"
Dean: "They're *THIS* 🤏 close, Pierce!"
"I wanted Annie to join the rap" ... in possibly the best Community blooper ever Alison Brie rapping is hilarious.
No rule has been broken on Community more than “Annie’s pretty young, we try not to sexualize her” (mostly thanks to Alison lol)
Makes sense when you see the behind the scenes.
(that's the joke)
No, they don't break the rule. It's true that they try not to sexualize her, they're just really really bad at it.
that is why I never follow such rules.
@@Max25670 What's that mean ?
I love this Britta's line: "I realize the stakes aren't actually that high, but somehow, that just makes it extra scary."
"They not gonna tell you" kills me every time
Yvette's delivery throughout this whole show is just top tier
Followed by “that’s what they do, that’s what they do.” So freaking funny.
Without fail 😂
Didn’t Yvette improvise that line? I could be wrong but I think I read that somewhere.
I love how you guys appreciate Yvette's comedy. Shirley doesn't get much love
JEE-SUS CHRIIIIIST (jesus chriiiist)

Didn’t they also appear in the first paintball?
@@wertfi908 Yes they did! They were singing in a tree
@@ewan0707 Yikes. Killed by paintballs, and then die in a bus crash that was engineered to happen. And yet, there was still GLEE in the school. LOL.

you guys missed one of my fave lines in the rap song from Abed - "ON THE SPECTRUM? NONE OF YA BUSINESS"
Glee/perpetually cheerful people as an "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" situation is one of those things that makes too much sense.
It was ridiculous and fun, the epitome of Community
As much as I cry-laugh for "boopy doopy boop doop SEX" my favorite line has got to be "cuz I am Jehovah's most SECRET witness" because the word play is top tier. * chef's kiss *
I think it's a tie between that and "On the spectrum, none of your business" for me
3:41 Just a reminder to watch the bloopers/outtakes of Community because Alison does rap in those and it's (mostly) glorious
I really hope they do at the end. They just did it with Brooklyn Nine Nine
"Imma Die By Werewolf" proved that Alison Brie is the best rapper of the cast.....
I'mma die by werewolf,
I don't even care, wolf!
@@Dylan_Platt If you need to share, wolf
Then you better scare a wolf
The Annie bit is so hilarious and so intentionally cringe. Funny lyrics, so well-performed, and Jeff's reactions are on point. Alison Brie's hotness might undercut the message a bit though lmao, or maybe it reinforces it?
It somehow both undercuts and reinforces it at the same time
I mean it did still work lol
It reminds me of that 30 Rock episode: TGS hates women I think it was called.
She is hot and not 19 but you know she is using the fact that shes like 13 years younger and hot to tempt a man and pretend to be more and more innocent as a lure. Its not real but it works
That Annie-Santa dance is probably the most watched clip from Community across all platforms. Been waiting for Eric's reaction to this :p
I love how they’re all so uncomfortable during Annie’s part 😭
Jeff was right, at some point you really do hit diminishing returns 💀
Also, Annie is pretty young, we try not to sexualize her
The whole 'sexy baby' thing really is very odd. I don't know why it was ever a thing, but Community skewered it beautifully.
@@roryowens9703 young, dumb, and full of... satire

Ironically they gained a pretty high level of respect for Glee after doing this episode and experiencing the level of work it took. Just another example of why Community is GOAT status. I forgot how great this episode is. It’s so funny and non stop and shows how great the cast is.
As someone who watched and used to love Glee, I love this episode so much! It’s such a good parody 😂
Same lol they did it so well
To clear up the question: the glee club was previously mentioned in Paradigms of Human Memory (aka the fake clip show from season 2).
3:48 as someone who was obsessed with glee as a teenager I love the Brad reference. Always at the piano never speaking.
Ah the legendary Childish Gambino Origin Story episode.
