So many movies end with a central conflict solved and nothing left to tell. In this one, the central conflict is unimportant. The whole plot is a McGuffin. It would be so easy to throw another unimportant plot at these three and watch them stumble through it.

Not much. Sometimes, he might miss a funny or interesting scene for a second, but it's rarely an important scene. He also doesn't write that constantly. Try watching a full reaction sometimes.

Automatic rifles that depend on gas pressure can have some issues if they sit in water for a bit, they will have a greater chance to jam on the next round. Recoil based loading mechanisms should generally be fine, but your applying pressure on parts that were not really designed to operate smoothly with that added resistance, so you could have casing ejection issues, loading issues, etc. But for the round in the chamber...its not going to impact anything much at all.

This movie really felt like a pilot for a television show that I would happily pay to watch. I can imagine each episode being filled with a variety of zany hi-jinks and ridiculous situations involving our two detectives, but in the end each episode boils down to Holly solving it in the end.

There are running bits that are my favorite. there’s always usually a bystander that will get accidentally shot and it’s never addressed, and every time March falls, there’s something stupid like falling asleep at the wheel, or gets injured it helps further the plot in a positive way.
