Isn't it crazy that everyone always bitches about how we never get original films anymore that aren't based on an existing IP or a sequel/prequel/remake etc... and then when Shane Black consistently makes some of the best original films of the past few decades, no one ever turns up for the thing they say they want so desperately? Then they catch it on streaming five years later and wonder why it never no one ever talked about it, or why it never got a sequel?

25:11 Ryan Gosling's sputtering, wheezing, and stammering in fear as he tries to call out to Russell Crowe is an homage to Lou Costello in "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein" (he used this bit in other movies too, but "Meet Frankenstein" is probably the most well known and most enduringly popular as well as a movie you should react to). Also, the corpse is played by Robert Downey Jr. in an uncredited cameo.

28:43 - Cartridges will fire fine under water. All the fuel and oxidizer is in the powder so they don't need any air to function. Revolvers are best with this as there is really not much to fail from the lack of air. Automatic rifles that depend on gas pressure can have some issues if they sit in water for a bit, they will have a greater chance to jam on the next round. Recoil based loading mechanisms should generally be fine, but your applying pressure on parts that were not really designed to operate smoothly with that added resistance, so you could have casing ejection issues, loading issues, etc. But for the round in the chamber...its not going to impact anything much at all.

I got this movie recommendation from Chris stuckman and I’m so glad I watched it. Movies like these are what I look for but it’s not too many nowadays. Great to see eric and Arron’s first reactions.

This movie really felt like a pilot for a television show that I would happily pay to watch. I can imagine each episode being filled with a variety of zany hi-jinks and ridiculous situations involving our two detectives, but in the end each episode boils down to Holly solving it in the end.

I had recommended this movie when you guys uploaded the "What Should We Watch Next? - Your Input Matters!" video back in May. 8 months later and here we are. Thank you for taking our recommendations seriously.

Russell Crowe has never done a sequel, but he’s on record saying he wants to do a sequel to The Nice Guys cuz he loved wording w/ Ryan Gosling. The film didn’t make enough 💰 at the box office according to Shane Black so idk if we’ll ever get a sequel. 😪

I have been hoping for so long that you guys would watch this. One of my all time favs. The "plot" really doesn't matter that much imo it's just a vehicle for perfect buddy cop shit, both leads are incredible but Gosling especially gives one of the greatest comedic performances ever for me.

There are running bits that are my favorite. there’s always usually a bystander that will get accidentally shot and it’s never addressed, and every time March falls, there’s something stupid like falling asleep at the wheel, or gets injured it helps further the plot in a positive way.
