For a paper seat, I was gobsmacked by the amount of work/pressure it could take. Another masterful repair/restore and preservation of family memories. Kudos!
Thankyou
Exactly, and I would have thought there would no way on Earth it could be fixed. She did it. *shrug*
Absolutely love the work done on my chair. She has a great talent. Turned out beautiful, couldn’t be more pleased
Thankyou Bev it was such a pleasure!
What a great family piece. Bless you for having it restored. Jealous actually.
She's brilliant! The chair is skillfully, masterfully restored to it's former glory.....but what really matters is that her customer, the owner, is well pleased and loves the work she's done. Well done Trena!
I am so glad that you shared your feelings about the outcome with all of us. As the final result was revealed I found myself really wanting to know what the owner's reaction was. It's a beautiful piece obviously very full of memories. So glad you had it restored.
You’re so lucky to have access to such an amazing artist!!!
Fantastic work on that pressed paper! Clearly you a master of the dark arts! Well done, Trina.
Lol thanks
I was raised on a farm and remember a chair wired up that was my grandparents left for my folks, when they took over the farm.
Nice. I kinda like it
Goodness!!! When you said that was a paper seat cover I really didn't know how you were going to repair it. Well done I am suitably impressed.
Thanks so much!
Beautiful dream result from a nightmare old wreck.
No wonder the owner is over the moon.
Inspired work, Trena.
Pat yourself on the back!! Outstanding job.
You performed a miracle on that seat.
Thankyou
the paper seat is unreal, i am surprise it has lasted so much abuse. love the restoration job. it looks brand new to say the lease
The paper seat really shocked me. I though no way. I was wrong. Nice work. I am really in shock. You really do nice work. We all could learn something from you. fantastic job!
Thanks
I bet the owner will be over the moon with this restoration. Great work as always
Yes!
Your rescue of the peacock seat was another glowing testimony. Few would dare try such let alone succeed.
Thankyou
You can not see the cracks. Wow-great job saving the chair.
Thanks
@@johnsfurniturerepair Always glad to watch workmanship at it's greatest. Enjoy your videos.
My grandmother had a chair with a seat like that, been a very long time since I saw that. Thanks for the memory.
Glad you enjoyed it
Next time I have a press paper seat to repair, I am coming to find you. That was an amazing result!
Lol deal. Thanks
I agree with your assessment that this is indeed an 'unusual' seat but as my late wise father used to say: ' There's an '--- for every seat". Great job as always..
Lol thanks
Stunning work, as always Trenna
What a fantastic job! Never thought the seat could be saved!
I had an old rocker with a tooled leather medallion tacked across the seatl Never saw another like it. You do great work Trena. Good luck on your move. 🌞
Thankyou
I love watching you work Trena! Your results are awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your art with us.
Tha kyou.
Not too dab-shabby, Trena. I enjoy conservation work.
I admire you for your patience and determination.
The seat restoration is incredible!
Fantastic job. Most folks would have tossed that old seat, but you made it beautiful again. You are a true master at what you do.
Thankyou
Great rescue Trena. Looks great, thanks for sharing 👍
The seat and the whole chair looks great!
What you did with that seat was amazing. You are the master!!
Thankyou
Your video's are therapy to me! It's so nice to see something 'hurt' get fixed again. And I learn a lot as well. Thank you from Sweden.
Thankyou
Another excellent job Trina. Well done 👏👏👍
I loved this project particularly the seat restoration. ❤️ So funny to see your shop emptying.
It’s weird
Nice job on the pressed paper seat Trena. I'll remember this one for sure.
Thanks
You have done a great work .......as always !!!!!!!
Worrying that I might be repeating myself, but you do outstanding work. I can't believe how good that rocker turned out, after the bad shape in which it started.
Thanks again!
Great job on that seat ...we'll done 👌
The seat looks amazing. Can’t even tell it was so broken. I didn’t see how you would be able to save it, but you sure did! The whole thing looks great. 😉
Thankyou!
Another great bit of joinery work I said it before ill say it again its so relaxing watching you work id love to spend a day with you in your workshop
WOW, WOW, WOW that is impressive work, beautiful results. Why canvas and not fiber glass cloth? Were any of the nails "factory" or all installed later by owners? I absolutely can't get over your "no fear" approach to your work.
It was what I had in hand. Many other things could work. The nails were added
Well, you've done it! You've rendered me speechless! And you've seen enough comments from me by now to know that's a rarity! 😂 Really, beautiful, impossible work. 🙌🏻
Lol Thankyou!
Looking at that paper seat repair, I can hear @BaumgartnerRestoration "So this is where we need to add the nylon gossamer to do the backing"
As always superb work I learn something new paper seat I never knew about those you did a super job be safe God bless
Oh how I laughed! I have done exactly the same thing with stain before!! Great restoration and great video, superb work on the paper seat, when I first saw it I was thinking fibre glass, but your repair was far better. Thank you for taking the time and trouble for this video, greetings from the UK
Great job, especially on the seat, but all the other parts as well!
Looked like a difficult job but as always, you mastered it beautifully!
Tha kyou
Fascinating repair and a superb job as usual. Many thanks for posting.
Thankyou
That turned out amazing another beautiful job❤
The seat is fantastic! Amazing refit, 🎉🎉
Thankyou
New respect for your ability.
amazing. No one does work like you!
Thank you very much
The pliers are wire cutters! Very useful tool for a lot of things.
When you were showing us the colour of the red stain I thought be careful don´t spill it - from personal experience!
Lol.
I enjoyed this video. I'm surprised you didn't use a sandbag on the rounded seat to distribute weight for glue-up.
You did it again Amazing more than usual with that paper seat!
Breath taking👍
Wow that is amazing you’re so awesome
Incredible work on the seat. I was wondering if you were going to put a sealer on it. Really made it pop. If it sits too high, could always route an inset for it, but that might be risky.
👍🏼🧓🏻🌵🍀🍀🍀🍀👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏☮️🛐🙏🇺🇸🌸great job! 💕
Gorgeous!
The way the seat came together was wonderfully done. What is the original material of the seat? Leather or something else? I couldn’t really tell.
She thought it was a pressed paper.
Paper cheers
Wow, nice! 😎👍🏻
Complimenti dall'Italia, Lei è bravissima e appassionata.... e se glielo dico io che sono italiano, può crederci.... un saluto e... buon lavoro!
Have a close match to this specific chair. did a rebuild last spring. Started out in a basket, would be interesting to set them down side by side. For what it’s worth mine had about as many nails.
Lol oh no
What a fantastic job on that beautiful seat! I would have probably thrown it away. You should be very proud of the job you did just on that, not to mention the rest of the chair. GREAT job.
Yes. Thankyou.
Trena, each time I think you have outdone yourself you surprise me with yet another fantastic work of art. I am so impressed with the seat work! For never having done that type of repair before, you certainly mastered the technique in one shot!
Thankyou
true it's a Saskatchewan thing every if you broke your leg the hospital use old fencing wire to hold you together if lucky tuck tape the broken part too yea mostly on the wrong part
Really Rockin today Trena, nice Rocker nice job !!!.😀😀😀👍👍👍.
thanks
That's a really lovely chair and it turned out beautifully. Won't the glued seams in the seat just pop apart when someone sits in the chair?
Nope. The paper and the canvas won’t let that happen. I did the sit test. It’s very sturdy
Love watching what you do! Amazing! Hope the move is going well…
Thanks. Good so far
I like to use needle nose vicegrips to remove small nails
I am pretty sure I would have used mulberry paper instead of brown paper and you didn’t say whether the glue you used was acid free, I hope so. I was surprised you didn’t sand out the creases on the brown paper before putting the canvas over it. Did you think shellac was the best choice to seal that paper? I have no thoughts about the woodwork as I know very little about it but I do know some basic things about paper preservation.
Interesting questions
you are very talented and beautiful
29:41 just what I was thinking about you at the exact same moment.
❤
So excited to see a new video!! Watching now, as you work on the seat😊😁😁😁 How is the move going? I'm excited to see your new-to-us shop in Saskatoon!
It’s good so far. Coming fast. Cheers
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I think I would have been tempted to use high strength duct tape underneath and then covered the underside with the cloth.
Unfortunatley the adhesive is not long lasting and eventually delaminated from the plastic.
wouldn't have given a plug nickel for that seat!
😍😍👌👌
29:28 I got a hearty laugh out of you trying to do a show and tell with your butt when describing how you knocked over the can of stain.
lol
I love how you did that seat and of course the rest of the rocker. But the seat is remarkable Trena. I had my doubts and I shouldn’t have. You are the best restorer.
Thankyou.
Such a great job. Love to watch. Chair turned out beautiful.
Beautiful!!
I would have never thought you could fix a paper seat like that. That's pretty amazing.
When i saw the seat, I immediately thought "Washikozo paper". Guess I've been watching way too many Baumgartner restorations. :)
If I had some I would have used it Love his channel
OMG! As a sign painter, I can't tell you how many times I tipped over the paint or dropped the brush on a finished sign! It's nice to know I'm not the only klutz in the world. Beautiful work, as usual!
Lol oh no. That sounds worse than a table. Cheers
Great job on the chair Trena, you would never know that, that seat was messed up. Most people would have done away with the seat and replace it with something else, by you saving it, that shows the kind of love and respect you show to your client's and their furniture. My hats off to you, looking forward to your next video!!!
Thankyou
You did an outstanding gorgeous job on the rocker! I'm blown away at the seat. If I hadn't seen the damage I would have never known it was wrecked before! Your customer is going to be amazed at how beautiful it looks now,! Awesome job 👍! ❤❤
Yea. Thankyou so much!
You did a great job on that chair, it looks lovely!
I am a paper conservator so I look after paper things all day, every day, and I gotta say, what you did to that seat...good work. That thing would be difficult to repair for anybody, especially to restore it to functionality. I think you did great with the initial repair and the reinforcing/support layers.
Wow. Coming from you that is a lovely comment. Cheers
I had doubts that you were going to be able to finish that seat as good as you did. Super job well done. X
Amazing professional work Trena! You are a master of your craft.
Thankyou
The tool you use to extract the nails, is called a side cutter (pliers) or nippers.
Yep
@@johnsfurniturerepair I was not being berating, but sometimes my mansplaining is out of control. 😆
The Paper Seat repair, and restoration - that was really well done. Impressive even.
Thanks
Beautiful chair and excellent work as always!
I'm so happy to have found your videos!! your knowledge, expertise, dedication and love for your work is admirable. Thank you so much for sharing and teaching, your videos are a master class for the next generation of furniture repair people. You are so generous and amazing. Thank you Trena!!!
A big hug from the other side of the world, Argentina.☺
Thankyou so kind
What a beauty! It would be interesting to know how old the chair is. We visited the farm in So Dak back when young and I remember the chairs having wire wrapped around the bottom of some of them. People didn't find things as disposable as many do today. Everything was kept, restore, renewed or "fixed" as best they could. I don't remember many new things but repaired and made to look new or just repaired as best a nail could do it. The memories touch my heart and there was a happiness in the old things as they showed the past and use those items got. Love those memories. I so wish there was a greater love of the items from the past as I felt they were when growing up. I love your trade for that very reason and the perfection ane pride you take in your work. Thank you for retaining the past and keeping memories "new" for so many of your customers. Thank you for sharing all these things with us. Beautifully done once again!
Blessings
Thankyou so much. Beautiful words and I agree.
My great grandmother owned it and she was born in 1870’s. so probably Early 1900
Turned out beautifully. I’m sure your client was thrilled!
Yes Thankyou
Very fascinating repair! I’d never heard of a paper seat before. I’ve seen Julian Baumgartner use his hot table to flatten distorted canvas artwork. Since it’s traditionally not a flat seat, that process may not have been successful. It turned out amazing Trena. I didn’t expect anything less. See you in the next installment.
Thanks Jim
Oh my goodness!! I can't believe the seat repair!! WOW it looks like it was never all broken. Just amazing!
Tha kyou!
My Granny had a rocker that every time I came to visit, my cousin tried to get in Granny's lap first. When Granny died, my cousin took the rocker and had it renovated and still has it today. We are both 75 now.
Wow. That’s so nice
This chair should be renamed as "Lazarus ". Only Trena's miracle repair on the paper has brought it back to life!
Wow what a beautiful job
Great job on the seat. Love the way you tackle problems. No fluster just get it done well. Great attitude.
Thankyou
