- In this video I show you how to get ConnectedDrive BMW Apps retrofitted to the iDrive System in your BMW via coding and retrofitting.
This is a genuine BMW activation via a company called Bimmer-tech.net and is an awesome upgrade for older or lower spec BMWs that did not come with BMW Apps from factory.
This unlocks a range of great apps for access right from your iDrive system, Including Amazon Music, Spotify, TuneIn Radio, News, Weather, Glympse,
In the video I take you through how the whole process works from start to finish, as well as a full review of the newly enabled BMW Apps features and how to use them, including GoPro remote Control and M Performance Lap Timer.

Is it possible to get navigation (BMW OEM) as well? Or do you need to install an extra module in the car? My car is a 6 series F06 with the base screen (6' or 8' can't remember), without sat nav in it.
Cant beat bmw so easy to code too, so many free upgrades can be done to the system and the cluster

Sorry to resurrect an old topic. I activated BMW Apps through BMW. However, when I plug in my Pixel (Pixel 3) I don't see many apps (any apps?) in the "additional apps" section. Does it simply not work w/ Android or am I missing something else?

I've got some of those apps already fitted to my Z4 E89 and actually I never use them as all of them are already on my phone and are much easier to use via the phone manually of via Siri..The bimmertec service is really quite expensive and a much better way to get a better "connected" music & 'office' system, is to install a Amazon Echo Dot in your car together with a mobile data dongle. Voice control is much easier & safer than iDrive control. For the BMW specific 'tweeks' Carly is far more flexible and of course user controlled - albeit still quite pricey but still much cheaper than Bimmertec and give you the option to 'tinker' or adjust settings as many times as you like.
Yeah but no navigation with alexa, plus powering it, plus having to set up the wifi hotspot all the time. Id much rather use carplay
You should just install a new Android screen like from Avin USA. Problem solved

Just bought 2016 435i. Where do I get this package and where to get the best coding options? I’m new to the bimmer world but want to do these things.
I have a 2014 X5. ConnectedDrive is on the head unit but apparently I can't use it anymore since the newer ones have come out. Is there a way to enable ConnectedDrive with this?

I guess you need Apple Car Play to make that happen, but it is just a guess as I don't own one. I can't display messages as my 116d lacks Wireless Charging and the Extended Smartphone Connectivity. I just have the navi pro without the business plus package.
BMW loves to charge for every piece of plastic lots of money, the connected drive services are cool, but should be a standard in cars with navigation imo. Google does 90% of that for free anyway...
Hi do you know if Spotify on BMW apps will work offline without data? iPhone allows the songs on your Spotify account to be downloaded onto the phone storage. If I then turn off data on my iPhone, will BMW apps be apple to read and play the songs stored in the local Spotify app?

Hey mate. Sounds like you're in Australia. Was wondering if these apps worked while you're driving (apps in motion). I have these apps however I cannot use them while driving. It seems like this is an Australia specific issue but you may not face it as these apps have been coded after the factory.

It’s a bit of a grey area really. Coding isn’t traceable as long as it’s set back to exactly as it was before you take the car in. Technically it would void any warranty related to the system you’ve modified. So for example if you code your iDrive system and you have a piston go through the block, it’s unlikely they wouldn’t cover it. But if the iDrive failed you’re screwed.

I very much like the idea of Spotify works natively on the iDrive screen. Currently my F10 having inconsistent Bluetooth connection with my Android phone. I wonder if the ConnectedDrive app will runs well with Android phone.
I had intermittent issues with Bluetooth too. BMW updated my cars software under warranty and I never had another issue.
Also try deleting and repairing on both the phone and the car.

i have to disappoint you but BMW decided that Iphone is cool and Android users are some kind of plebs that cannot buy a bmw so the development for the Android platform is absolutely trash nothing works it barely connects sometimes and there is no answer from BMW on the app development for over 9 months.

Great video man! Do you know if it is possible to enable the GPS navigation system in a 2015 BMW 116d that come without it from factory? Can it be done via software or does it require additional hardware?
better upgrade to an Android screen. There is no way to code the GPS Navigation to the low Budget iDrive system.

Question: my bmw f16 has BMW APPS from the factory, BUT they disappeared this year, because of 3G network removal from US, and I will not be able to use them again. Ever. Will your option work at all, if yes, will it work the same way as an original did? I really miss Spotify sound quality.

great video. Most of what you got was on my car from factory. And some of the adds, M logo I was able to do with Carly. Main thing I wanted was windows close and mirror fold with key fob, and Carly did that. Would you know if your way has more capability then Carly?
Thanks. Yes there are things you can do with this method that Carly can’t do currently. Basically anything that involves FSC activation can’t be done via Carly at present. But Carly is great for the basic coding stuff. I’ve used it myself for tweaking a few things.

Zet Muzic not worth going from CIC to NBT they almost the same systems only sports display looks better but it's not worth retrofitting just for that

Interesting point that not allowed to touch your phone whilst driving in your part of our world. Same here in UK 🇬🇧. But what is interesting, it’s not an offence to touch other things or parts on your person (or other person) whilst driving. Either by self or another person that would certainly make you have a crash. Fully clothed or otherwise. Nice video. ✌️👍🇬🇧

I have a F30 2012. Office and ConnectedDrive are already available in the iDrive menu., but there are no apps installed.

Yes this is a permanent activation. The difference is a genuine CD activation is only available on vehicles with inbuilt cellular connectivity. This uses your phones connetion.

I've got a BMW x3, and I've got a raspberry pi on the odb2 and it does a lot more than this. And, I have Google assistant. All because I hate the BMW (and any other vehicles system).

Right now the best option is an Idrive 6 retrofit. But it ain’t cheap.

Depends what screen you have. Most of the retrofit kits include a screen but you may not need it.

This is a seperate function but yes you can do that as well as I have done.

Carly and BimmerCode are pretty equal these days. Both will take care of the simple stuff. :)
