Aoyama definitely isn't useless. He blasted Compress to save Bakugo and Tokoyami. It's not much, but it is still more than some others in the class like Invisible Girl or Sugarman who haven't really had any significant contributions outside of situations where the entire class is involved.

Yeah it’s crazy how monstrous Deku looks compared to earlier seasons. With blackwhip trailing off him he really seems like something dredged up from a nightmare
Deku is currently undergoing a condition known as the damaged empath. When an empath has so thoroughly exhausted their ability to empathize they become apathetic. On its own it’s bad. But then it spirals out of control into what I consider to be one of if not THE worst emotional condition someone can get. Because even though you aren’t matching other people’s emotions anymore like Empaths do reflexively and it’s practically a part of their lives, now they can’t even tell what their carrying whether it’s their own or someone else. And that’s an essential ability for an empath to differentiate to be effective. When it gets to THIS level of bad, the empath is at risk of dying of heartbreak. Deku is exhausted physically and mentally to a DANGEROUS degree as is and even with BULLET WOUNDS I’m not even CLOSE to as concerned for Deku physically and mentally as I am emotionally. He carries each pressure as his and can’t even tell. Every intrusive and depressed feeling in these times…and those who have considered giving up WAY more than their jobs. Deku can’t even tell. He is in CRITICAL condition. This state he’s in is SO well written because it is GENUINE HELL. And he’s ALREADY carrying the title of the next All-Might and AFO’s growing pressure. That can break ANYONE.
It's tough seeing Death Arms give to the pressure of a society that's turned against heroes, but on a slightly uplifting note I do appreciate the subtile character development we've seen from Mt. Lady. When she was introduced she was shown as an example of some heroes fighting more for glory and attention than for the right reasons, but despite that we have seen that when the chips are down she's still willing to take a hit for the team even when the cameras aren't on her, such as protecting the UA students rescuing Bakugo or fighting to slow down Gigantomachia. Showing that she's still willing to stick by the other holdouts among the pro heroes in a time when no one is going to thank her does show a surprising bit of character growth from someone who started out as kind of a comedic fan service character.
I like to think that Mt. Lady was designed to be misjudged through her earlier appearances; she always meant to be a good hero, but was also "playing the game" when society was "functional", since resources and connections would have legitimately helped her improve. The less important the spotlight is, the less she has to put a performance on top of the work she really wants to do.
AFO's comment to Deku had exactly the effect he hoped for - getting Deku to distance himself from All Might, his mentor, during the time when he needs guidance the most. And he did it so simply and easily by just telling Deku that he's not interested in All Might anymore, he was only ever interested in OFA, which turned All Might from a hero into another civilian who needed to be kept out of harm's way in Deku's eyes. Also, in Aoyama's defence, it doesn't matter how badly they just lost a battle, it's still a fair assumption that the safest place for Deku is to be with the three top heroes and All Might rather than with them. I don't care how shonen the anime is, Class 1-A is not more capable of helping and protecting Deku than the pro heroes.

Bringing Deku to UA means UA can concentrate its heroes in a defensive posture with built up security measures. Besides, AFO has been sending proxies to wear down (and maybe capture) Deku while AFO has continued to stay in hiding. If he's not ready to take the bait and engage Deku in the open, he's definitely not ready to storm a UA that knows he's coming. Since Deku can't seem to actually track down AFO for a preemptive strike, recovering his strength and focus in safety is the right call. And UA is one of the few reasonable options for that left in Japan.
So, not sure if someone has posted this, but, Lady Nagant is not dead, merely heavily injured and in a hospital, much like Jet. Also, the reason why it's all so depressing is because this Arc, and all the mini Arcs within it, is called the Final War Arc so, yeah.

Aoyama shoot to the air to sacrifice himself in the test and he did saved Tokoyami from Mr. compress. You should see the movies before season 7, they are canon. Path of thorns is just a common saying.
The next episode shows how big the skill and power gap is with the entire class against deku. Even tho he's starving, weakened, tired, and not mentally there, he still manages to easily slip away easily, that and the fact he's holding back and not treating it as a real fight shows he's grown into a beast.
It's an interesting turn around. When Deku was weaker he could always smile, but he wasn't really "strong" per say. Now that he is, multiple quirks and all and with what he's been through he can't smile. Even the costume's "smile" is jagged and falling apart.
The insane pleasure All for One gets from twisting what All Might has done to his own agenda and desires is palpable. He took the part from when All Might defeated him in the Camino Ward (Season 3 fight that ended All Might's career) when All Might pointed at the camera and said "Next, it's your turn." All for One did the same here for his own twisted jollies.
21:27 - It's a small thing but Bakugo giving Shoto a small amount of comfort by putting his hand on his shoulder shows a lot of growth too. Season 1 Bakugo would never have offered physical comfort and Season 4 Bakugo was still insisting that they weren't friends. I felt so bad for Shoto this episode because you're right: he _really_ took how Deku left personally. We almost never see him get upset like that. Him, Bakugo, and Uraraka were the most visibly upset.

I think it's far enough to say that the Vigilante Deku thing was a bit too short without spoiling things. I think it's far enough to say that the Vigilante Deku thing was a bit too short without spoiling things. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate his class, his family, bailing him out of his self inflicted pain before it goes too far, but it does somewhat weaken the narrative impact of this being his lowest by them only needing so few episodes to come help him.
