So he decided on the better option. (I don't remember correctly but I'm pretty sure he just tryna dip, not beat em up.)

It's literally the "All Might vs AFO" fight situation, where Bakugo was literally just in the way. The class is several steps beneath Deku's power level and a few steps below the assassins after him.

A lot of people think that this Deku is "cool" and that he should always be this way. But he's literally overworking himself, constantly on the move, super anxious and depressed, filthy, driving his body into the grave at Mach speed. And to top it all off, he's doing exactly what All For One predicted he would do. By creating a scenario where Tomura can find Izuku at all times, he's isolated himself to protect everyone. One of the things he thought during his fight with Shigaraki constantly was, "Don't be the useless Izuku who can't save anyone". He has the fear that if he isn't saving anyone that he's useless. His sense of self-doubt is through the roof that he's not thinking about his own worth. Seeing Bakugo(Deku's closest friend), Ochako, and Iida(his first friends in UA) being the ones to lead the charge to find him is so nice. Iida knows what it's like to charge forward at something with all your might, even if it's harmful and dangerous. He did that with Stain. Ochako knows that sometimes the people who save people need to be saved themselves and told they can rest. And Bakugo knows that Deku only finds self-worth when he's saving people and doesn't think about his own safety. And they all want to assure him that while he is needed, he also needs to know he can rest.

This actually makes me appreciate Horikoshi's writing more. Because the way people feel has a logic if we go deep into the shonen genre. But MHA's always been known for breaking tropes by playing with the tropes. It's natural to be excited about it because it's what people nowadays expect from this trope, which is why I actually like Hori's take on the psychological aspect of the narrative and on the "hero's journey" better than others. I love when people realize the turmoil deku goes through in this arc. All for One read him like a book to the point where he weaponized Deku's talk no jutsu against him. People talk about how baddass deku looks or how he would win a fight against 1A, like fighting them even in an evasive and indirect way wasnt the most painfull thing he did. He's in shambles to the point where a random villain was going to cap him in the worst way possible for a hero, being jumped by a crowd of civillians... All because he got to the point where the fatigue, thirst, hunger, lack of sleep and open wounds got him to the point where could barely move and almost falling asleep in the midle of combat
i just realized that out of everyone in the series stain was the winner in all of this. he wanted true heroes in the world and that is what he got he got true heroes that dont do it for a career or for fame they do it because its the right thing to do.

To Lupa and Sheera being confused why he wants to scrap with his friends. It's a pretty common trope we've seen in other anime... Deku wants revenge on All for One, to him- AFO is the reason everything is going wrong. And as usual, since he is so vengeful and tired at the moment too. He's kinda going auto-pilot/One objective mode where that's the only thing he's focusing on. (and hey, mfs showed up in their hero costumes there is only one thing you can expect)
5:09 That right there is storytelling at it's finest. When Deku first met All Might on the rooftop, Deku had the resolve to catch up and grab onto his leg before All Might could jump off. Here. All Might can't even stay on his feet trying to grasp Deku. It's a beautiful image of how the mighty (no pun intended) have fallen and the torch has been passed on. There's no going back to the way things were.

I wanted to make this comment EXCLUSIVELY about Deku and what we saw with the kids. Because there is some DEEP stuff this episode. Now it’s time to talk about what I’ve been dancing around this whole arc. I’ve continuously said look at Deku’s eyes. How they lose light each passing episode and become cold. This is a state I am INCREDIBLY familiar with. I call it “exhausted empathy.” This is a strain only Empaths feel. Empaths get to a point where their empathy is working 24/7/365 depending on their emotional experiences. Constantly feeling the emotions of others. And with that comes a different brand of functioning. Which I call the brick backpack. From my perspective, Empaths wear a backpack no one else wears. And it’s empty for a time. But eventually with experience, people start throwing emotional bricks at you. Whether they want to or not. Suppressed feelings count. What you don’t say counts. An Empath will have to catch each brick and decide whether they want it in their backpack to store and help the person they carry that brick for, or if they don’t need it and let it go. If you overstuff, THIS occurs. Empaths don’t breakdown like most people. Rather than getting an explosion of anger or sadness, an empath will become emotionless. It’s like getting trapped inside your own head. This state is AWFUL and that’s putting it INCREDIBLY mildly. Once the overstuff occurs, the empath will cease to be able to tell where each brick they’ve stored comes from. They can’t tell what emotions come from which person and it all collapses in an unsortable gray area. Your mind and your body no longer cooperate. It’s just fumes. But the empath ability will NOT shut off here. People still throw bricks, and we can’t stop it. All you can do is take it. But you’re so out of it, you’ll just assume that it’s YOUR emotion. And I consider this the worst emotional strain a person can feel because…well. Among the feelings that can get thrown our way are depression, anxiety, PTSD, and…s*icidal thoughts. Now take what I’ve said…and apply it to Deku across the war arc. Across the Todoroki backstory episodes. Across the accepting of the burdens of OFA from the 8 holders. The Muscular fight, the Lady Nagant Fight. And now AFO’s speech and MORE assassins. And you have yourself a pain that FAR surpasses not eating, not sleeping, not stopping days on end. Probably WEEKS. LOOK HOW SKINNY DEKU IS. Deku is in absolute TURMOIL. If you showed this kid a mirror. He wouldn’t know who is looking back. And worst of all, once this state is reached, there is only one way out. Someone has to know the core of your being and have your complete trust. If they don’t, all they do is continue the cycle of ever growing burden. Which leads us to Class A. Who among them do you think has that trust? I’ll say this up front. If you believe it’s Bakugo, you chose the WORST choice. BAR NONE. Bakugo if anything may have caused this state when he was Deku’s dedicated bully. What Bakugo brings to this table is he knows the mission, he knows Deku’s thoughts on the mission, and he knows how Deku would act about it. NONE of those things help Deku other than physical assistance. And as we’ve seen, that is NOT what Deku needs. This isn’t Bakugo at his most helpful, this is Bakugo at what I consider his MEANEST. He announces to the whole CLASS he knows Deku better than anyone while announcing he’s CRAZY. I won’t deny Bakugo is ABSOLUTELY concerned, but this is where the posturing STOPS. This is where you STOP doing things like this because all it causes is harm. And what does he say to Deku when he sees him? “Well if it isn’t his majesty OFA. Tell me, can you smile right now?” It doesn’t matter if the intentions of that statement are warranted or how good the one liner is, you don’t BELITTLE those in a breakdown. This is NOTHING but a demonstration that Bakugo understands the mission and how Deku perceives the mission. But if you look at ANYTHING other than this mission, Bakugo and Deku STILL do not get along in the SLIGHTEST. Their personalities do NOT mesh at all. And Deku is the one who does all the reaching to maintain the peace between the two. This is where BAKUGO has to. And when Deku is like this, Bakugo’s statements could cause LITERAL HEARTBREAK. Another burden to carry. (If not the last burden. Which…I can’t say for certain but it REALLY could come down to that.) I’m sorry I got so real, but this is NOT a situation people can take lightly. This HAPPENS. If you know an empath, and they are completely emotionless, THIS is what you could be looking at. And you very well might have to speak up because an empath is NOT able to break free themselves. The portrayal of Deku’s state is PERFECT. I’ll also say to those that noticed, I did recover from this myself. And I’m not in this state. But I had JUST recovered when this arc came out in manga and that’s why it’s so special to me. Deku is my favorite fictional character for a reason.
I never thought that I would see someone else actually dig into Deku's situation so accurately, THANK YOU for writing this out. This shit is real (although to an absurd fictional degree) and can actually fuck you up for a long time if you don't have connections to rely on. I understand that Bakugo might be doing his best to drag Deku back to reality, but he doesn't understand that right now, in Deku's head, reality is fractured and blurred beyond comprehension. This is the time for scalding shower, nice soft blankets, and some FUCKIN THERAPY.
I just want to say all VAs are in for the kill this season especially Daiki. Man his voice went from sounding like a fluffy marshmallow in season 1 to a villainous one in this season. Being friends with Eren in MHA worked well 😜

Gotta say, I do love that any reaction channel always sees Stain in that shot and immediately jumps to the conclusion that he'll kill All Might. Guys. All Might is literally the posterboy hero that Stain WANTS. He goes after heroes that AREN'T like him. If anything Stain would just want a long talk with All Might here; there's no violence between these two.
What a episode. I said this before but just sadness for All Might. To think you're biggest fan and the person who looked up to you for so long, who always stood behind you and looked at your back, he's the one now in front and you're looking at his back. This only proves how serious the situation is if your biggest fan is the one pushing away (for understandable reasons)
To Sheeras point, All Mights vestige was becoming more solid and colored in because he was getting closer to death. He still has to deal with the terrible wound from Atomic Chainsaw which was the cause of him not being able to stay in All Might form for long periods of time and is now the reason why he can’t use it at all.
I see both sides (especially given what I know from manga but won't get into all that ) cause on one hand obviously he needs food and rest and support. But from Deku's pov he knows he's the main target and at this point his his friends' strength really can't even compare to his own tbh. He sees himself as a danger to them (which technically he is) but still for his own well being, and for his friends that love him and don't want to see him go through this, he needs help.
💯 Problem is he believes no one can help him, but instead only be a hindrance. And not just his friends, but even the Top Heroes. Its possible at this point he, subconsciously, made himself believe that nobody in the world, much less all of Japan, can help him. Plus, he STRONGLY desires to rescue/save everyone (in the world) from AFO and Shigaraki. Simply telling him to take a break isn't going to get him to stop.
I remember when people were all hype about how "hard" Deku was and couldn't fathom why his friends even showed up. I'm like "the boy is tired, unhinged and probably smells like last month."
7:19 this scene has the exact same vibe as ep 7 s4 of bungo stray dogs. Hero(es) is in huge trouble. Screen cut to black. A voice. A single point attack from the sky that saves the hero. Return of an angry gremlin character everyone misses here to save the day.
On a serious note, this is Deku at his lowest. A lot of people like this persona of him, but in reality, he is running on fumes. It's incredibly sad that he feels he can't rely on anyone but himself because he's scared of getting everyone else hurt for his sake....which is exactly what created the All Might problem in the first place.
It's like what bakugou said, they basically are the same. They put others before themselves to the extreme. While that's definitely heroic and valiant, it's also draining and unstable. It's a double-edged sword.
I like deku's custome and maturity growth. But I don't the fact that he was basically exhausting himself, he's paranoid about AFO. He's obsessed with trying to find him before causes more destruction.

This actually makes me appreciate Horikoshi's writing more. Because the way people feel has a logic if we go deep into the shonen genre. But MHA's always been known for breaking tropes by playing with the tropes. It's natural to be excited about it because it's what people nowadays expect from this trope, which is why I actually like Hori's take on the psychological aspect of the narrative and on the "hero's journey" better than others.

I love when people realize the turmoil deku goes through in this arc. All for One read him like a book to the point where he weaponized Deku's talk no jutsu against him. People talk about how baddass deku looks or how he would win a fight against 1A, like fighting them even in an evasive and indirect way wasnt the most painfull thing he did. He's in shambles to the point where a random villain was going to cap him in the worst way possible for a hero, being jumped by a crowd of civillians... All because he got to the point where the fatigue, thirst, hunger, lack of sleep and open wounds got him to the point where could barely move and almost falling asleep in the midle of combat
Deku's arc shouldve lasted longer.

i just realized that out of everyone in the series stain was the winner in all of this. he wanted true heroes in the world and that is what he got he got true heroes that dont do it for a career or for fame they do it because its the right thing to do.

It shows up inconsistently and even in this episode when deku jumps away a lot it’s in the direction of danger that he sense but it doesn’t show up on screen for some reason

To Lupa and Sheera being confused why he wants to scrap with his friends. It's a pretty common trope we've seen in other anime... Deku wants revenge on All for One, to him- AFO is the reason everything is going wrong. And as usual, since he is so vengeful and tired at the moment too. He's kinda going auto-pilot/One objective mode where that's the only thing he's focusing on. (and hey, mfs showed up in their hero costumes there is only one thing you can expect)

5:09 That right there is storytelling at it's finest. When Deku first met All Might on the rooftop, Deku had the resolve to catch up and grab onto his leg before All Might could jump off. Here. All Might can't even stay on his feet trying to grasp Deku. It's a beautiful image of how the mighty (no pun intended) have fallen and the torch has been passed on. There's no going back to the way things were.

I wanted to make this comment EXCLUSIVELY about Deku and what we saw with the kids. Because there is some DEEP stuff this episode.
Now it’s time to talk about what I’ve been dancing around this whole arc. I’ve continuously said look at Deku’s eyes. How they lose light each passing episode and become cold. This is a state I am INCREDIBLY familiar with. I call it “exhausted empathy.” This is a strain only Empaths feel. Empaths get to a point where their empathy is working 24/7/365 depending on their emotional experiences. Constantly feeling the emotions of others. And with that comes a different brand of functioning. Which I call the brick backpack. From my perspective, Empaths wear a backpack no one else wears. And it’s empty for a time. But eventually with experience, people start throwing emotional bricks at you. Whether they want to or not. Suppressed feelings count. What you don’t say counts. An Empath will have to catch each brick and decide whether they want it in their backpack to store and help the person they carry that brick for, or if they don’t need it and let it go. If you overstuff, THIS occurs. Empaths don’t breakdown like most people. Rather than getting an explosion of anger or sadness, an empath will become emotionless. It’s like getting trapped inside your own head.
This state is AWFUL and that’s putting it INCREDIBLY mildly. Once the overstuff occurs, the empath will cease to be able to tell where each brick they’ve stored comes from. They can’t tell what emotions come from which person and it all collapses in an unsortable gray area. Your mind and your body no longer cooperate. It’s just fumes. But the empath ability will NOT shut off here. People still throw bricks, and we can’t stop it. All you can do is take it. But you’re so out of it, you’ll just assume that it’s YOUR emotion. And I consider this the worst emotional strain a person can feel because…well. Among the feelings that can get thrown our way are depression, anxiety, PTSD, and…s*icidal thoughts.
Now take what I’ve said…and apply it to Deku across the war arc. Across the Todoroki backstory episodes. Across the accepting of the burdens of OFA from the 8 holders. The Muscular fight, the Lady Nagant Fight. And now AFO’s speech and MORE assassins. And you have yourself a pain that FAR surpasses not eating, not sleeping, not stopping days on end. Probably WEEKS. LOOK HOW SKINNY DEKU IS. Deku is in absolute TURMOIL. If you showed this kid a mirror. He wouldn’t know who is looking back.
And worst of all, once this state is reached, there is only one way out. Someone has to know the core of your being and have your complete trust. If they don’t, all they do is continue the cycle of ever growing burden. Which leads us to Class A. Who among them do you think has that trust? I’ll say this up front. If you believe it’s Bakugo, you chose the WORST choice. BAR NONE.
Bakugo if anything may have caused this state when he was Deku’s dedicated bully. What Bakugo brings to this table is he knows the mission, he knows Deku’s thoughts on the mission, and he knows how Deku would act about it. NONE of those things help Deku other than physical assistance. And as we’ve seen, that is NOT what Deku needs. This isn’t Bakugo at his most helpful, this is Bakugo at what I consider his MEANEST. He announces to the whole CLASS he knows Deku better than anyone while announcing he’s CRAZY. I won’t deny Bakugo is ABSOLUTELY concerned, but this is where the posturing STOPS. This is where you STOP doing things like this because all it causes is harm. And what does he say to Deku when he sees him? “Well if it isn’t his majesty OFA. Tell me, can you smile right now?” It doesn’t matter if the intentions of that statement are warranted or how good the one liner is, you don’t BELITTLE those in a breakdown. This is NOTHING but a demonstration that Bakugo understands the mission and how Deku perceives the mission. But if you look at ANYTHING other than this mission, Bakugo and Deku STILL do not get along in the SLIGHTEST. Their personalities do NOT mesh at all. And Deku is the one who does all the reaching to maintain the peace between the two. This is where BAKUGO has to. And when Deku is like this, Bakugo’s statements could cause LITERAL HEARTBREAK. Another burden to carry. (If not the last burden. Which…I can’t say for certain but it REALLY could come down to that.)
I’m sorry I got so real, but this is NOT a situation people can take lightly. This HAPPENS. If you know an empath, and they are completely emotionless, THIS is what you could be looking at. And you very well might have to speak up because an empath is NOT able to break free themselves. The portrayal of Deku’s state is PERFECT.
I’ll also say to those that noticed, I did recover from this myself. And I’m not in this state. But I had JUST recovered when this arc came out in manga and that’s why it’s so special to me. Deku is my favorite fictional character for a reason.

What a episode. I said this before but just sadness for All Might. To think you're biggest fan and the person who looked up to you for so long, who always stood behind you and looked at your back, he's the one now in front and you're looking at his back. This only proves how serious the situation is if your biggest fan is the one pushing away (for understandable reasons)

To Sheeras point, All Mights vestige was becoming more solid and colored in because he was getting closer to death. He still has to deal with the terrible wound from Atomic Chainsaw which was the cause of him not being able to stay in All Might form for long periods of time and is now the reason why he can’t use it at all.
His wounds are from his first fight with AFO. Deku was just guessing Chainsaw, as the timeline matched up. (Which All Might said it wasn't him.)
His "All Might form" was his regular, normal form.

I see both sides (especially given what I know from manga but won't get into all that ) cause on one hand obviously he needs food and rest and support. But from Deku's pov he knows he's the main target and at this point his his friends' strength really can't even compare to his own tbh. He sees himself as a danger to them (which technically he is) but still for his own well being, and for his friends that love him and don't want to see him go through this, he needs help.

Problem is he believes no one can help him, but instead only be a hindrance. And not just his friends, but even the Top Heroes. Its possible at this point he, subconsciously, made himself believe that nobody in the world, much less all of Japan, can help him. Plus, he STRONGLY desires to rescue/save everyone (in the world) from AFO and Shigaraki. Simply telling him to take a break isn't going to get him to stop.

On a serious note, this is Deku at his lowest. A lot of people like this persona of him, but in reality, he is running on fumes. It's incredibly sad that he feels he can't rely on anyone but himself because he's scared of getting everyone else hurt for his sake....which is exactly what created the All Might problem in the first place.
It's like what bakugou said, they basically are the same. They put others before themselves to the extreme. While that's definitely heroic and valiant, it's also draining and unstable. It's a double-edged sword.
I like deku's custome and maturity growth. But I don't the fact that he was basically exhausting himself, he's paranoid about AFO. He's obsessed with trying to find him before causes more destruction.
