funnily enough, that actually was originally was deku yelling "shut the f**k up" but was later censored in translation. Everyone crying in the comment section, but I'm here being impresed at Kenny's poker face at the end with Montana's analysis on the villains going after Bakugo. She is so smart.
Sometimes I forget (probably because the wait between seasons) that Deku is still a newby with One for All. By that time, he only had it for 3 months (maybe 4, sorry If I'm wrong) and he has defeated Stain (with a lot of help of course) and Muscular. A guy that could kill (or give a hard time to) many pro's. According to Gran Torino, All Might mastered the power of One for all really quickly. But Deku really put it to work
and ... even tho they're not the type of reactors who would play along with sympathizing with a villain's tragic backstory I'm sure tomura and toga's backstory is still going to break them
21:10 All Might has a lot more experience, He can throw multiple 100% punches without wrecking his body and he is a legend. Even people who might be able to aren't going to just seek him out because a lot of people did and a lot of people got wrecked.
So heres your fun fact. One million percent is of course an exaggeration. Its a lot of hype from Deku hyping himself up alongside hysteric strength and adrenaline according to the author.
It’s super easy to forget that Deku is an unreliable narrator since I feel like most anime doesn’t take character mentality/bias into account when it comes to things like narration and worldbuilding, but this show definitely does. IMO that’s one of the things that makes it so engaging, especially during a fight when Deku’s internal dialogue really gets you into the story.
The real reason muscular took damage was because deku used delaware mixed with detroit. The shock wave of delaware knocked the muscle armour away, allowing detroit to hit.
After finishing this season the first time, I took a break from the show for a while. Recently, in order to properly catch up for the nee seasons, I rewatched season 1 episode 1 to the end of season 3. Rewatching this episode years later, and having a much better understanding of the show and meaning of this fight, it ending up being almost even more impactful to me than it did the first time. Now that I was actually invested in the story, this episode elevated from ‘aw that’s sweet’ to ‘holy shit I’m actually crying’.
I might be Overthinking this but I like the visual way they show Kota being inspired by deku to accept hero society and quirks by the 2 ways he tries to save deku during the fight. The first time he didn't use his powers, and the second time he did. Because of deku showing him that quirks are not just something the heroes are using to show off, he goes from using a rock (not using his quirk) to save him, maybe showing him still holding onto his hatred of quirks and hero society, to him using his water quirk to save someone else, which could thematically represent his character growth and him being inspired by deku. Or it could just be in my head lol😋
There are a lot of moments in this episode that can bring on the water works, for me Deku's inner monologue apologizing to his mom gets me every time. It's a parents first and for most instinctual job to protect their kids and I think there is an instinct in kids that when we know we are in trouble/danger that alone hurts our parents in ways we don't see. In a reality where most of the population has incredible powers, and the most common "career" path is hero or villain, I'm 100% sure parents are almost always losing their minds. Deku's mom especially, she's a realist, she made the decision to quite literally destroy her only child's very fiber of being and in turn her own just because she wanted to protect him. It's even more awesome and shows how close of relationship that Deku & his mom have because at some point he forgave her for it a long time ago and understood why she did it and didn't hold her harsh but realistic words against her for the rest of their lives. Though in spite of how she may have felt as soon as Deku got accepted to UA and showed his quirk she went full support mom mode even though she very clearly was still terrified. Also the stark thought that in their final moments many heroes probably have similar thoughts, the apology to a loved one that will never be known is just uber depressing. Correct me if I am wrong, but I also think this is Deku's first genuine hero moment post acquiring One For All, that is not motivated by anything other than "This person I don't know needs help". It's not the girl he had an instant crush on, or his mentor in danger, or his friend attempting to fight a known hero murderer. Not just that but he went 1 million for it and I'm fairly certain Deku didn't take any recoil damage from it, just his initial smashes and defending from Muscle.
Little surprised by the lack of reaction to Aizawa getting blasted by Dabi, also Kota was never stated to not have a quirk, he just didn't use it before.
i think it was more of what the first few episodes had established, which was that they tend to show signs of quirk usage in kindergarten. kota seems a bit older but still, quirks can develope late@@johndinner4418
The fight between Tiger and big sis Magne is very symbolic. These are 2 trans characters that come from completely different walks of life. Tiger got his surgery in another country and has been safely allowed to transition while facing minimal discrimination. Big sis comes from the exact opposite of that. She’s a villain whether that be from societal biases or just convenience. Whether she wants to medically transition or not she can’t even afford to make that decision. It’s a bit on the nose but I personally loved how Horikoshi depicted these two.
Interesting fact, this scene is great in three different languages. I'm Brazilian and I watched the original audio the first time, the second time in Brazilian Portuguese and now in English. Congratulations to the voice actors😊
This is one of my favorite episodes in this entire anime. This is my third, or fourth, time watching this episode and it's as emotional as ever and still leaves me in tears! Justin Briner really did such a good job as Deku's VA in this entire episode.
I know this is old, but Muscular does not stand a chance against All Might because All Might doesn’t damage his body while attacking. He can let loose all he wants. We saw what three 100% attacks did to Muscular, he’s TOAST against All Might.
I cried both, watching the anime and reading the manga for this one because the line in the episode was "Boku no Hero" and I just found it so damn poetic when the tittle of the series is applied with context... Even though that part is not that poetic on the dubb, it keeps being such an emotional scene.
Keep in mind that Deku can only punch ONCE at full power. All Might could deck this guy as many times as he wants at full power. That's the real difference between them, Muscular is especially durable. All Might isn't Saitama, his whole thing isn't defeating villains in one punch. Every one of his punches can be so powerful MOST villains WILL be defeated in one punch, but if they're specially durable, he can just punch them again with no drawback. If you think about it in terms of Health Bars, even if Muscular has a health bar of 9999, All Might can deal 5000 damage per punch, so that's still just 2 punches. Even while in his injured state, he punched the Nomu dozens of times in a very short time frame. All Might also has vastly more experience than Deku, which can be extremely helpful in taking enemies down quickly and cleanly. All Might in the same situation would have knocked him out without a scratch. Might've even saved the surrounding area from damage.
I got so used to Kenny being the tearbending master that seeing Montana crying is so rewarding Somewhere through Attack on Titan I think she got so used to watch suffering that I was afraid that she was completely desensitized since then, even Fullmetal wasn't able to achieve this But I'm glad MHA was able to hit her that hard, it's awesome when a story is able to do that with us
A lot of people talking about Deku crying in the fandom, but this kid has the 2nd or 3rd strongest quirk in the verse and had for less than the year. He's damn near a savant to get it to this usability at this point.
(Season 4 spoiler) . . . . Is it bad that i cant wait for the infinite tearbending counter that is sure to come with all the Eri stuff (including saving her)?
I agree with all the sentiment of this episode. It solidified this show as one of my favorites (especially as a teacher whose mama bear instincts have thankfully never had to be unleashed but sits waiting just under the skin) But I just wanna say thank you to Gabe for all the focus on the cats; they are glorious and I adore all the close up shots and movie the show bubble around them. All hail the mighty Gabe and the (wild, wild)pussycats!
Deku says he used "100%" equal to Allmights power but its more like he did 100% of what he believed he could do especially since he uses "100%" again and muscular says its weaker then before and then "1,000,000%" later. its more like his 100% was closer to probably 30% of Allmights full strength
The way I interpreted the 1,000,000% was that maybe it’s like a multiplier system. Since One for All is the result of multiple people collecting and stacking power over decades, ‘full power’/‘100%’ probably refers to the current holder’s power, and then beyond 100% is tapping into that stored up energy?
@@jittercritter thats possible but i think its just deku still learning the full capabilitys of his powers. as we saw in the end of the last season allmight destroyed a whole city without really trying. and i dont think deku was at that point yet
Kenny and Montana... Fun fact: Izuku does not claim that he's using One For All at 1,000,000%, it's only the fighting spirit of Izuku's way to shout his feelings toward this unusual strength in an emergency. This was that the author said. And i as mention in the last MHA reaction about Tiger being transgender hero, Big Sis Magne is a transgender woman, born a man and possibly in the still process of her transitioning into woman. This making her the second confirmed transgender character in the series.
This was my favourite reaction yet from you guys and it's honestly the only right way to react to this episode - crying your heart out lol I've watched this fight so many times that I lost count, but it still gets me teared up every single time. The way Deku desperately tries to save this little child, while poor Kota slowly starts to understand what a true hero is and what his parents really died for - absolutely beautiful. This episode is the perfect proof that even the most cliche stories can still be absolutely amazing if you do them right, which is also a great way to describe MHA as a whole.
I would love to see someone do a my hero by Foo fighters edit for this episode. Because that song often pops up in my head whenever I rewatch this episode and others like it
Still one of my favorite episodes of the entire show. Honestly wasn't sure how I'd feel about this dubbed, but it was done really well. Definitely cried again hahaha loved your reaction.
Man. Of course I start crying as soon as the tear bending counter first pops up, My Hero Academia just doesn't miss, no matter how many times I see this episode
As a not an emotional person at ALL this episode made me choke up a bit which is VERY impressive. Lol my mom walked in on me trying not to cry and she thought something was wrong so she took me to the hospital 😂
I remember this episode coming out and me watching it on loop, tearing and getting chocked up with every single watch. Deku getting absolutely destroyed and still going all in into Muscular, going as far as apologizing to his mom - which was such a heartbreaking, human moment, reminding us he's also just a kid who has a worried mom at home to whom he promised to take care of himself - and even apologizing to his mentor Allmight, then obviously Kota using his quirk - his parents' quirk! - to have his own hero moment and fight back, inspiring Deku to give it one final go, who then inspires Kota back by getting rid of Muscular UGH SO GOOD I'm right there with you Montana and Kenny, the emotions in this episode, the writing the VAs, everything is such a punch to the heart in the best way possible and no one's eyes can stay dry after that
Tiger: You’re not plus ultra yet! Deku: Oh trust me you don’t need to tell me how that’s going to go. This episode is one of the MAJOR ones of the show. And obviously it’s got details through the roof. And considering this is the equivalent of Deku running into a brick wall until it LITERALLY caves to him is definitely saying something. (And I agree with that philosophy on many occasions. There might be a way over, under, or around but why would I do that if I can keep walking and make a new option?) Monoma is the only member of Class B to fail. And I can probably think of how that happened fast. Class B went through the same finals designs as Class A. And Class B hasn’t had any attacks or notable issues throughout their background appearances…y’know. Except Monoma basing his whole combat strategy around being a prick and needlessly practicing that OUT of combat. So he had to have been the only target of Class B. And I’ll just assume his opponent was Vlad King. Won’t say exactly how I assume he failed but if you know Vlad’s quirk, you can imagine the EXACT result if Monoma faced him. And while there is the mastermind AFO helping instruct the villains, we all know that there’s no such thing as all knowing all seeing. He got intel. And so did the villains because they sure as heck knew the itinerary to make such actions. And of course the 1st thing you need to do are take the most powerful heroes off the table. Pixie-Bob could make mince-meat of every villain here with her quirk. And Eraserhead is ALWAYS among the biggest threats to villains because he DISARMS THEM. The League sure as heck won’t make the exact same mistakes as Season 1. Even if they don’t agree on how the plan should be under the same rules. (Courtesy of Stain) Deku by the same token makes sure not to repeat the mistakes of Hosu and actually notifies pro heroes what his intentions are. But that doesn’t mean that his circumstances can’t force him into the events today. Also we run into a really fun consistency of which characters force themselves to be more active and which ones are taken off the table. In missions like these they often try to take the most helpful kids off the table for the missions. Notice Shiozaki and Honenuki from Class B are taken off the table. Those 2 are the strongest in Class B and would be BROKEN solving the villain situations. Few of the villains have counters for these kids and if in the field would have all this solved in much shorter spans. Notice who else? Iida and Mineta are ordered away from the scene immediately. 2 other characters hard to counter and could stop several of the villains if they are on the field. (Sorry Ojiro and probably Koda, but I think the two of you are heavy disadvantage more than advantage) Always keep an eye on who is on or off the field because there’s always a reason. Haha. The biggest one missing from the field is Ragdoll. Not shown to be off the board, but missing and lost a LOT of blood. The chances of her being another targeted pro is QUITE high. Muscular is basically a giant wild card not just to the heroes because of his extreme violence but also the villains. He was tucked off to the side to prevent people from escaping essentially and obviously THRIVES on action. For a guy who got his eye knocked out by water blasts, he sure isn’t wary about unexpected quirks. And he is CHATTY. He reveals a target without a care instead of finding them 1st. I mean…not stupidly because the 1st thing he does is break Deku’s left arm and slam him into a rock crater after breaking his phone. Deku is ALREADY out of options. Muscular is obviously a sadist as his main villain trait. So he and Shigaraki have SOMETHING in common. He wants to just spread as much pain as possible. No need for manipulation, he just wants to literally torture people and torment them as they go out. Even if he has the same tone as a bully grown up into an even worse piece of crap. Deku thinks he used 100% the same as All-Might, but I also don’t try to take much stock in the words of the concussed (he took a boulder to the head) and also…y’know. Kota would have been flung a HECK of a lot farther since Muscular doesn’t have shock absorbtion and even THAT didn’t stop the literal field of wind no one could stand near in season 1. So there’s more evidence of the split of OFA. There’s also a LOT happening in that final move too. Deku uses his fried right arm twice because his left is TWISTED broken. If he used that arm, let’s say he wouldn’t have kept it attached to the rest of him. And he STILL found a way to get momentum by picking himself up using BOTH broken arms and using his 1,000,000% punch. Muscular used every muscle fiber to cushion the explosion for it too and it tore through ALL of it when his 1st 100% didn’t. Needless to say but 1,000,000% is impossible and meant to be a battle cry since All-Might’s prime I calculate at 120,000% max. (And not Mach 15,000 over All-Might’s Prime Mach 1800. Deku, Muscular, Kota, and the entire camp and mountain range are still intact) But it WAS a heck of a lot more than his last 100% punch. I won’t say why but I do know exactly how much. He used 125% and stockpiled more energy into the attack. Moving up from Deku’s usual Mach 1.5 to Mach 1.875. Doesn’t seem like much but it is almost 300 mph faster and packing greater force. Deku is MESSED UP though. His arms are fried, he was shoved into a crater, suffered SEVERAL concussions. And Detroit is not in Delaware Deku. Probably another sign this kid is NOT doing well for someone I imagine knows better for his All-Might love even if he’s never been to America. Despite ALL that he did completely redefine selfless to Kota. Here’s a kid who punched Deku where the sun don’t shine, and not only took responsibility for his safety but wanted to help resolve his family issues, catch him from falling with his TEETH, and was willing to get crushed to death saving this kid from a man that that has caused him severe trauma. Not for clout, not for praise, but because he could. So much to the point Kota wanted to make his own sacrifice by protecting Deku where he could. He couldn’t fathom those that would make such a terrifying decision but now knows Deku, his parents, and yes the Pussycats (and hopefully especially Mandalay because bless that woman for taking him for those 4.) Heroes exist and even Muscular acknowledged he was likely a real one thinking Deku wasn’t as deluded as he figured. And Kota’s looking at the likely most selfless person he will EVER meet. What an episode. Unfortunately that’s just ONE obstacle of the evening. Muscular might not even be the biggest gun of the League.
Deku calls it Delaware Detroit Smash because he uses a Delaware Smash (to blast away the muscle fibres grabbing his hand) and then a Detroit Smash immediately after.
@@teamg9 so he TRIPLE fried his arm there. Interesting. Never knew. He made it look like all one shove. It just sounded crazy so I chocked up his DEFINITE concussion.
@@Kaempfdog Yeah, he really messed himself up here. It's not immediately obvious that he is doing two smashes there because you don't see his fingers flicking out for the Delaware Smash in the anime so it looks like the muscle fibres are blasted away in the same way Deku's clothes are when using 100%, but in the manga it is a bit clearer that the force is coming from his clenched fist opening to a splayed hand for a Delaware Smash with all four fingers and thumb (as opposed to the one finger shots against Todoroki in the Sports Festival).
Funny to think about how Monoma failed if they were teams of 2. Meaning they did beat the teacher, it was just Monoma who didn't do anything. Probably means he was paired with someone with a quirk he couldn't copy?
Bro the first time i started watching this fight i thought deku was actually gonna die, I wonder how deku managed to survive and even carry kota on his back with him
Re: What are the chances that it would be the villain that ended his parents? Given this is anime/manga we're talking about I'd have put it at least at a 75% chance at least, if not now then at some point in the series.
I never made the connection before. A Ozawa and Vlad tell the kids that to get stronger you need to rip your muscles so they can grow back stronger and Deku had to LITERALLY get way stronger to rip muscles this episode.
Jumped in just to see the moment again - still brings a tear to my eyes... This is the moment MHA set itself apart... and it just gets better from here.
It is worth mentioning in the original Japanese manga, this moment had a LOT of swearing coming out of Deku's mouth. He almost never curses, so to see him say, quote, "Don't you fucking touch him" is so out of his character, it just shows how desperate he was to save this one kid (of course the line is changed when localized.) And its expressed so well in the dub too when he's yelling at Muscular to shut up. That's just as out of his character as cursing the villain out, showing how hard he's trying, and how desperate he is. It's perfect 😭
Haven't watched the full vid yet, so it might not even come up, but really appreciative that Kenny has already seen this, as a lot of reactors see Muscular and start theorizing about him being Bakugo's dad or relative just by how he looks.
Deku just inspiring another person and changing Kota views on heroes and super society. I feel like it being the villian that kill his parents just cemented the change in Kota mind. Didn't realize the pussy cats' heroes names were cat breeds is interesting.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who mistakingly thought Kota had his quirk awakening at the end there. I too missed all the signs that he's been out there practicing his quirk in secret
Yes, if you don't know Bakugou, you'll be fooled that he is a bad kid. But my explosion boy is a determine hero. More importantly, the ending was very emotional.
3:57 I love him and this just amuses me instead of her reaction 4:49 i meant you can still recount his 2x25 intro (Wait wait he didnt know then) 7:40 I mean Monoma said smth similar, but saltier "just bc they fought some villains" Class 1A mentality...aw it almost takes away from whatever Tetsutetsu gets to do tonight bc thatll almost just credit 1A instead of a 1B student doing a thing Mhmm same name-- Izuku in jp calls them Water Hose instead of the Water Hose heroes _why is Genshin crashing_ 12:30 you can answer that, since Dabi said it this episode Well "could've" cause this is weeks or months behind 13:08 I love that they startle the same way (same speaking style/conjugation, startle -- just tones) Katsuki's fight smile I mean this is the 3rd time we've seen him- I figured she just didnt think it was worth a comment Magnuh instead of Magne~ 18:29 doing what they want* it's still going up but...I mean 😅 Tell her about 1mil Oh timestamps arent working 30:38 wait wait You pointed it out to her last episode, so I thought...? 31:22 theories... but the post incident thing covers it I should chill
If it happens, I'd love to see your reactions to the Japanese version of this episode as you enjoy the original voice actors' performance It's not that the English version's acting is bad, but the Japanese version of Deku's voice actor's performance in this episode is just too good Even if you can't understand it in language or words, Deku's thoughts and feelings will definitely be conveyed to you.
@@samsny21 It's definitely a matter of taste I'm sorry if my comment made you or others who prefer the English voice actors feel uncomfortable I just wanted to let you know that it's worth watching this anime with subtitles even if you don't understand Japanese Let's enjoy Season 7 together
Honestly this episode is where Deku really made it. No choice, back against the wall, against a villian a lot of pros would and have struggled with. And he did it without aid, just beyond epic
I swear to goodness, no matter how many times I watch this episode I literally always bawl my eyes out! This is exactly why he is my favorite in the entire show. He and Todoroki! As soon as Deku Spoiler: Apologizes to his mom no matter how hard I try not to, the waterworks begin without fail. The show was already great up until this point but this episode kicks it off to an entirely new level!!
A few episodes back they showed a decent crater in a wall. I always assumed it was created by Kota and he always had his powers and he was taking out his anger on the wall using his powers. But i could be wrong
I assumed that -- well it seemed to be pretty straightforward, _and_ he made a point to ask her if she saw it, so...? I mean I'm at 29:40 but based on some top/recent comments I'm about to be surprised, both about Kouda and Katsuki

He did. In the previous episode you could see the mountainside with cracks from him using his Quirk on it.
I think she kinda missed it tbh, like she saw it but not clear enough to see how point blank it was
i think it was more of what the first few episodes had established, which was that they tend to show signs of quirk usage in kindergarten. kota seems a bit older but still, quirks can develope late@@johndinner4418
I didn't notice it
I figured he had a quirk but never thought about it further
The fight between Tiger and big sis Magne is very symbolic. These are 2 trans characters that come from completely different walks of life. Tiger got his surgery in another country and has been safely allowed to transition while facing minimal discrimination. Big sis comes from the exact opposite of that. She’s a villain whether that be from societal biases or just convenience. Whether she wants to medically transition or not she can’t even afford to make that decision. It’s a bit on the nose but I personally loved how Horikoshi depicted these two.
Isn't Tiger just a buff guy in a catgirl outfit? That would make the most sense
@OffbrandMC he's a trans man, i don't think it's acknowledged in the anime but in his manga character profile it says he transitioned in thailand
@@ryan.4841 man, so confusing. Imma just go back to overanalyzing fight scenes
@@OffbrandMC nah its not confusing at all you just dont want to accept it lol.
@@TheHaloDudesI mean it is a bit confusing when they are both being called him and her in this thread so kinda hard to tell
This is definitely in my top 3 eps of the entire series
Interesting fact, this scene is great in three different languages. I'm Brazilian and I watched the original audio the first time, the second time in Brazilian Portuguese and now in English. Congratulations to the voice actors😊
I'll try to watch it in another language too!
I love this show more then most and there are certain moments that will always hit hard for me…and the ending shot of this episode is one of them
"I did think it was gonna be a lot worse" just as he's gettin' up is hilarious, love it
This is one of my favorite episodes in this entire anime.
I love watching along with montana, cause she latches onto those emotional moments so deeply, got me tearing up all over again
I cried both, watching the anime and reading the manga for this one because the line in the episode was "Boku no Hero" and I just found it so damn poetic when the tittle of the series is applied with context... Even though that part is not that poetic on the dubb, it keeps being such an emotional scene.
7:32 “so why are they better? It’s called screen time Kendo and we need some!!!”
I got so used to Kenny being the tearbending master that seeing Montana crying is so rewarding
Somewhere through Attack on Titan I think she got so used to watch suffering that I was afraid that she was completely desensitized since then, even Fullmetal wasn't able to achieve this
But I'm glad MHA was able to hit her that hard, it's awesome when a story is able to do that with us
That sound edit when Muscular stands back up was so funny
Kota: A hero
Montana putting the pieces together: Oh no
Kota: My hero
Montana tearbending counter: A lot
A lot of people talking about Deku crying in the fandom, but this kid has the 2nd or 3rd strongest quirk in the verse and had for less than the year. He's damn near a savant to get it to this usability at this point.
This episode always will make me hysterical. This is the episode that truly made me fall in love with show.
(Season 4 spoiler)

Is it bad that i cant wait for the infinite tearbending counter that is sure to come with all the Eri stuff (including saving her)?
I agree with all the sentiment of this episode. It solidified this show as one of my favorites (especially as a teacher whose mama bear instincts have thankfully never had to be unleashed but sits waiting just under the skin)
But I just wanna say thank you to Gabe for all the focus on the cats; they are glorious and I adore all the close up shots and movie the show bubble around them.
Fun fact:
Izuku does not claim that he's using One For All at 1,000,000%, it's only the fighting spirit of Izuku's way to shout his feelings toward this unusual strength in an emergency. This was that the author said.
And i as mention in the last MHA reaction about Tiger being transgender hero, Big Sis Magne is a transgender woman, born a man and possibly in the still process of her transitioning into woman. This making her the second confirmed transgender character in the series.
3 seasons later, this is still probably in my Top 3 episodes of the whole series.
Because that song often pops up in my head whenever I rewatch this episode and others like it
I have seen this scene many times, I knew exactly what was coming. Yet, my eyes still teared up watching it. It gets me everytime.
I'm just glad to watch along with Montana who is sobbing just as hard as I am. Beautiful episode. Where's Kenny with MY tissue???
easily one if not the best scene in this show... not because the fight was anything special, more because its was such a powerful moment. i love it.
Still one of my favorite episodes of the entire show. Honestly wasn't sure how I'd feel about this dubbed, but it was done really well. Definitely cried again hahaha loved your reaction.
This was the episode that made me “fall in love” with Midoriya as a character
😅
I remember this episode coming out and me watching it on loop, tearing and getting chocked up with every single watch. Deku getting absolutely destroyed and still going all in into Muscular, going as far as apologizing to his mom - which was such a heartbreaking, human moment, reminding us he's also just a kid who has a worried mom at home to whom he promised to take care of himself - and even apologizing to his mentor Allmight, then obviously Kota using his quirk - his parents' quirk! - to have his own hero moment and fight back, inspiring Deku to give it one final go, who then inspires Kota back by getting rid of Muscular UGH SO GOOD I'm right there with you Montana and Kenny, the emotions in this episode, the writing the VAs, everything is such a punch to the heart in the best way possible and no one's eyes can stay dry after that
If I recall, this was the highest rated episode of MHA when it came out.
There might be a way over, under, or around but why would I do that if I can keep walking and make a new option?)
Monoma is the only member of Class B to fail.
(Courtesy of Stain)
Deku by the same token makes sure not to repeat the mistakes of Hosu and actually notifies pro heroes what his intentions are.
@@teamg9 thanks for the elaboration! I didn’t get access to the manga til later down the line. I started reading around the Season 5 manga.
Funny to think about how Monoma failed if they were teams of 2. Meaning they did beat the teacher, it was just Monoma who didn't do anything. Probably means he was paired with someone with a quirk he couldn't copy?
I dont cry easily but this fkin episode every time.
Hey who put onions in front of my eyes?
No matter how many times I've watched that episode, the feels hit me like a truck
I never made the connection before. A Ozawa and Vlad tell the kids that to get stronger you need to rip your muscles so they can grow back stronger and Deku had to LITERALLY get way stronger to rip muscles this episode.
When I first watched this episode, I just assumed that “the list” was a list of people they expected to fight
Either there's something broken with me or you 2. There are some real tearful moments and you 2 are just...staring. not even showing excitement.
Oh late reaction but there it is at the end.
Jumped in just to see the moment again - still brings a tear to my eyes... This is the moment MHA set itself apart... and it just gets better from here.
One of those episodes where you know you're watching peak anime as it unfolds, like the Deku vs Todoroki episode
(At 16:46) And of course on the defense, his left arm is already broken. Meaning he's probably going to have to "overdo" it.
The way I stopped and said what when she asked how this loser hadn’t beat all might what a crazy question
That's probably the longest period of silence I've ever seen from you guys on this channel . . .
Thank you for not pausing anywhere during that awesome scene because I was tearbending right there with you all omg.
Damn Kenny, that intro set up was so cinematic
This is why deku is my favorite anime character
Same ❤
You guys have the best reaction to this episode because you kept all the good parts in.
montana is always confused at everything lmao
This episode never ceases to make me cry. It's so emotional. 😭😭
I cry everytime I watch this fight. Literally. Just cried again
Kota was practicing his quirk up there before. They briefly show that spot on the cliff last episode.
the voice acting in this episode always blows me away. Mha truly has an incredible sub and dub as someone who has watched both.
Deny v Muscular makes me cry every time.
I love this episode, the scene when Kota calls him his Hero is very sweet, It always makes me tear up.
GOD, I LOVE DEKU SO MUCH
MHA knows how to get you....I already feel like 7x19 gon have me in shambles....three more days!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who mistakingly thought Kota had his quirk awakening at the end there. I too missed all the signs that he's been out there practicing his quirk in secret
Sometimes I watch this episode again and again and the feeling that something incredible happened there is still there.
(At 14:46) You want to know the messed up part? This villain with the shades… a girl!
Man watching this yall is like watching it again for the first time ! Awesome you guys !
Yes, if you don't know Bakugou, you'll be fooled that he is a bad kid. But my explosion boy is a determine hero.
More importantly, the ending was very emotional.
21:04 Because All Might can throw that 100% Deku just did every single punch and movement. Not just 1, and then his arm is shattered.
I forgot how much I loved this episode, and the ending is one of my favorites
Didn't know Reiner crossed over
3:57 I love him and this just amuses me instead of her reaction
4:49 i meant you can still recount his 2x25 intro
(Wait wait he didnt know then)
7:40 I mean Monoma said smth similar, but saltier "just bc they fought some villains"
Class 1A mentality...aw it almost takes away from whatever Tetsutetsu gets to do tonight bc thatll almost just credit 1A instead of a 1B student doing a thing
Mhmm same name-- Izuku in jp calls them Water Hose instead of the Water Hose heroes _why is Genshin crashing_
12:30 you can answer that, since Dabi said it this episode
Well "could've" cause this is weeks or months behind
13:08 I love that they startle the same way (same speaking style/conjugation, startle -- just tones)
Katsuki's fight smile
I mean this is the 3rd time we've seen him- I figured she just didnt think it was worth a comment
Magnuh instead of Magne~
18:29 doing what they want*
it's still going up but...I mean 😅
Tell her about 1mil
Oh timestamps arent working
30:38 wait wait
You pointed it out to her last episode, so I thought...?
31:22 theories... but the post incident thing covers it
I should chill
If it happens, I'd love to see your reactions to the Japanese version of this episode as you enjoy the original voice actors' performance
It's not that the English version's acting is bad, but the Japanese version of Deku's voice actor's performance in this episode is just too good
Even if you can't understand it in language or words, Deku's thoughts and feelings will definitely be conveyed to you.
eh I think Deku's english VA outclasses his japanese one
@@samsny21 It's definitely a matter of taste
I'm sorry if my comment made you or others who prefer the English voice actors feel uncomfortable
I just wanted to let you know that it's worth watching this anime with subtitles even if you don't understand Japanese
Let's enjoy Season 7 together
Honestly this episode is where Deku really made it. No choice, back against the wall, against a villian a lot of pros would and have struggled with. And he did it without aid, just beyond epic
I swear to goodness, no matter how many times I watch this episode I literally always bawl my eyes out! This is exactly why he is my favorite in the entire show. He and Todoroki! As soon as Deku
Spoiler:
Apologizes to his mom no matter how hard I try not to, the waterworks begin without fail.
If you didnt shed a tear to this you ain't a real MHA fan. You guys passed the test! ❤
