My little nephew is in 4th grade & has been back to school for 2 weeks. At his school they switch classes & he informed me that there is a little girl who carries a book with her "and reads it all of the time." I about died. I told him he should marry her someday cause that will be the coolest little girl he ever meets!!!
That's smart advice haha.
I would like to meet that litte girl myself and befriend her.
I was called weird because I carry a book around with me everywhere...and also because I'm a cheerleader... So there's always this one girl in my school who walk around in cheerleader uniform reading a 900 page book...ha..ha..😂😂
I love your confident aura.
Juli Berroa thanks :)
I'm a cheerleader and do exactly the same 😂😂💜
I think the scheduling idea is super important, too! If you make it part of the daily routine you'll always have time for it!
Something else that I find handy is to always have a book with you. That way if you're on a bus, or you have a free class, or a free five minutes somewhere, you can read even a few pages. Reading a few pages here and there during the day tends to add up, so it's worth carrying a book.
I'm terrible for that type of procrastinating as well, where I'm not studying, but I'm not doing anything I like to do. It really sucks. Great video, those tips are great! :3
GREAT TIP! And thank you!
I read pretty much the entire Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy serie on the bus to and from work!
Great tip! That's what I do and I end up reading a pretty good pile of books :)
This is a MUST! I always take my book on my commute and it takes me an hour so I always get loads read, then the journey flies by too! :D
Agree!! Cause I always have a book with me, and most of the time it's useless, but you can be sure that when I'm like "I should probably get the book out of my bag cause it's heavy" then boom 2 days later I'm stuck somewhere and I don't know what to do, and it would be the perfect time to read!
the video came at totally the right time! I never have time to read during the school year and by the time it's summer, I have a huge stack of books to get through.
:D
the story of my life :'(
Ha! I just filmed a video exactly like this! A lot of our tips are different so that's actually really awesome. MOAR READING!
I really liked your procrastination tips. I'm not a huge procrastinator, because I get a big high on getting ahead on my work and then doing the things I want without feeling guilty. But when I do, I do inevitably simply waste time for hours. I like the idea of letting yourself procrastinate. Giving yourself permission.
This video was actually so helpful for me. I am the WORST at reading during the school year. Reading random Wikipedia articles & scrolling through Tumblr...yep. LOL, these were great tips!
Thank you so much for making this video! I was actually thinking earlier today "when I go back to school, how am I going to find the time to read?" so all of your advice was very helpful :)
I READ BRAINS WHAT CAN I SAYYYY
+PeruseProject ahahaaa lol I think these tips are helpful
I really want to hug you for posting this video. Thank you!
Thanks for the tips! Whenever you make wrap up videos during the school year, I notice that you read so many books each month and it's crazy impressive. I also like reading at night/before bed. I like carrying a book with me to school because sometimes teachers finish class early and people just sit there till the bell rings, so I just get out my book and read. :)
Also, I'd love to see more college advice videos from you. Like, how do you organize your work and get it done on time, how do you study, anything... girl, I can tell you're a stellar student. ;D
I've been really worried about reading during the year, and this video has great tips that were presented in such a funny/interesting way! Thank you for being awesome! :)
Another really good tip (which is something I do) is to carry a book around with you wherever you go, because you don't know if you will find a moment to read while waiting for something. Reading one page, two, ten, it still gets you further along in the story than you were before, meaning it helps you get through the story quicker. Every minute and every page counts!
Such a helpful video Regan! I always fail at reading during term time so thank you for making this!!
Yes! This video is exactly what I need at the moment. I love to read, but am finding it difficult to do so with my hectic senior year schedule. It's gotten me pretty down as of late. I'll definitely put the reading before bed advice to practice, because that is a habit I fell out of doing over the years. I'd love to watch an apply to college advice video if you have the time, as that is what I'm dealing with now (it's stressful and exciting at the same time). Have a nice day/night! :)
I need advice on how to deal with required reading--- I zone out as soon as someone orders me to read something even though I LOVEEEEEEE books
This video is going to be so helpful for me this year since I'm finally in Uni! Thanks so much Regan!
Thank you so much for posting this! School begins in 2 days :(, i've been loving your video's and i absolutely love your book reviews! Thanks x
I'm reading Isla with a friend in September, and I'm really looking forward to it! Great video Reagan!
Yes to more general college videos :D Also, your hair looks lovely in this video!
I agree with you. Short books are the to go books during busy times. Thanks for the tips.
Great advice, Regan! I work in an office at my University's library so I have a lot of free time. I always take a book with me. Plus, I am usually at class early (if I don't have a class prior to it) so I use that time for reading.
Loved this video! It's so perfect for me right now. I'm a college senior (starting class tomorrow!), and in the past three years I've been in school, I've never had time to read for funsies. I would always crowd my reading in during Winter Break and summer vacation. But, this year I am determined to read more.. So, I only brought to school with me the books that I didn't get to read this summer in the hopes that I will finish them this year. Thanks for the advice. It's really great!:)
HAHAAHA Just loved your advices! Here, in Brazil I am studying for the college admission tests, so this was very useful. I love your videos :D
Going back to university in September this is definitely something that's been on my mind!! I always always read just before bed. Always got that free time then and it always seems to help me sleep too. Love this video :)
This is so cool because I've been reading a lot more recently just by integrating books more into my study time and taking it everywhere so I can read in those few minutes you've finished your work or whatever.
im so glad i found your channel!!
This is so original and awesome.
Loved it :D
Thanks for this video, Regan! I'm currently in the middle of my university year and am finding it really hard to keep a good balance. I totally get what you mean about procrastinating with the wrong things, I do that allllll the time. Hopefully these tips will help! :)
This was actually really helpful! I love your videos. :)
OMG your soo witty, intelligent and perfect !!! LOVE YOU REGAN
I'd love to see more college tips and such! :D Also, something I would do to help myself read during school: I would always read a few pages throughout the day. Before school, in between classes, lunch, after school before and after homework, ect. Before I knew it I knocked out quite a few pages without reading all at once! :D
you are a genius. Yes! Use your procrastination time wisely!
The advice about scheduled time for reading is very useful - I always read when I commute to school and when I go back home. It become a very good habit ;) And also I think that during the school year it's better to read e-books on your phone, kindle or any type of a e-reader. I mean it's easier to take it with you, it's lighter than a book, doesn't destroy when you carry it in a bag and you have bigger collection to choose from :)
This video is perfect! You're hilarious!! And these tips were excellent :D
I didn't read a single thing at college last year and it made me really sad. This was so helpful! Thanks, Regan. :)
Definitely needed this video! I leave for my first year of college tomorrow, and I was worried about not being able to read. So thank you (:
Great timing! My college starts back in two days. Hopefully I can read more since I won't have to read Aristotle and Socrates books like last year. I think another good tip is to make chapter goals, it makes read a big book more manageable.
''Short books are short'' YOU'RE SO DAMN RIGHT GURL. I was literally laughing when you said that... lol
Thank you!! I needed this :P Btw, I'd be really interested in watching a video with general advice for school!
i tend to bring a book to all my classes and when my teachers are out of the room or if i finish a worksheet or test early, i read. :)
I LOVE YOUR SHIRT
Great tips for reading! I'll think about setting a time to read everyday now since I've been in a reading slump and stopped reading Catching Fire for over 2 weeks now )-:!
Great video! I do the same thing with giving yourself maybe an hours time for reading, it's like I'm coming to a compromise with myself "ok I'll read for this long or this many pages and then I work on my assignment till such-n-such point" and end up feeling actually motivated to do it:)
Loved the Throne of Glass reference! Just finished the third book, Heir of Fire.
That procrastination thing is soooo true! Also, another tip: I like to listen to audiobooks as well as read physical books so I get in more reading time each day. I'm currently listening to the Mortal Instruments series every morning for about a half hour as I get ready for school. It starts me off in a good mood, and I'm able to get a lot more reading done every day. Also, I don't confuse it with the series I'm physically reading because even though they are both books, they are absorbed as two different mediums!
Thank you! I really needed this right now :)
Thank you, thank you! School is already taking a toll on my free reading and i'm getting super sad about it. This will help immensely!
Loving the jazzy background music
this is such a useful video! I always find it hard to a lot read during the school year, especially if I have to read other books for school as my brain seems to merge the school books together with books I'm reading for fun so I forget everything I get totally confused about the plots of the books I was reading.
oh my god your personality is great
How to manage your homework and get it done faster! I always enjoy watching those videos!!
I'm in my second last year of high school, so I've been getting heaps of tests/assignments and that means I don't have a lot of time to read. I try to read before I go to bed, but with my job, extra curricular activities and studies, that isn't always possible.
But I try to make time to read, because it's a really good way to wind down and not become stressed and burnt-out. Great video and great tips, especially the procrastination one :)
Good tips Regan! :D
I hope your moving situation is going well =)
During college time i have at least 3 hours stucked in the bus to go and come back, end that is coverted in reading time \o/ YAY
I always like reading in the morning before i start getting ready because it like wakes me up in a relaxing way and gets me excited to read throughout the day. The only problem with that is that 90% of the time i wake up late and barely even have time to put clothes on my body let alone read lol. This video was really helpful :) pls do more school advice videos! You seem like the kind of person who is really great at giving advice and stuff like that :)
Thank you, the video was super helpful and had the perfect timing!!
I was just worrying about this very topic....you read my mind!
I don't know about anyone else but I would love to see some tips & trick/general college videos from you! I'm going into my second year in sept. & still have yet to master routines/college in general. Any tips would be great & appreciated! Hope to see another one of your videos soon Miss Regan :)
This is good advice!! I'm definitely going to read with a friend! Seems like something that would motivate me so much! lol. Great video Regan!! - Farah
Great advice! I think this can apply to someone who has a career as well and works 40 hrs a week. I agree with procrastination and prioritizing. Setting a time every day for me helps with reading - as long as I read that day - it makes me feel more accomplished that day.
YEEESS thank you haha these are so useful omg I go to boarding school as well but it was harder because I used to be in a dorm! now im in my own room so its all good and yeah I basically spend all my free time reading whoops
Is it bad that I read more during school than summer? Haha
Same for me lol I have less free time during school year BUT in the summer I always have a ton of activities to do and tend to prefer being active rather than sitting on my butt for hours to read, even though it still makes me happy.
missOhdrey same like in the summer I procrastinate to much and in the school year time I want to be lazy because I do sports and Im in school for hours so reading is good for me while being lazy
Yeah, same here! I had a study hall at the beginning of the day last year in high school so I usually had no homework to complete that early in the day so I read for at least an hour most days because of that. I always had a book on me so I'd usually used reading as a distraction during class or during lull periods like when I had already finished a math problem and the class wasn't done yet or when the teacher was collecting homework. I find that teachers usually feel more conflicted about taking a book away from you (because it's educational and "kids need to read more" and whatnot) over a cell phone so I was never told to put it away.
curiousfudge Yeah! Like now this year where I go to school we will have a full 45 minutes a day dedicated to reading alone and usually once a cycle we also have 45 minutes of reading so I get a lot of time to read :)
I needed this video!! Just about to go into my final year and only managed to leisurely read during my third year only because it was my year abroad and almost all my credits didn't count so had a lot of free time xD thanks for the video!!
I totally agree with you on all points! During school I only read at night time, like when I go to bed. And I have to keep your advice in mind to read shorter books.. school starts soon and I started The Bronze Horseman and my reading process seems soo slow even though I am ready two thirds in the book, its frustrating cause I feel like I didnt read much even though i did.. anyways really grateful for your advices!! I love all of your videos so much
Thank you!
Keep it up! I just finished The Bronze Horseman, and I definitely felt down on myself a few times because it didn't seem like I was reading much, but when I finished it I felt SO accomplished :) Happy reading!
I like what you said about not feeling obligated to read. I spent a lot of my time at uni feeling guilty for spending my free time watching TV or browsing the internet when previously I would have spent that time reading. I didn't feel motivated to read in my free time because I had to spend so much of my study time reading (I did an English degree). Now I've finished, I'm back to loving reading again so... yay, I guess! :)
Great advice, also I like listening to audiobooks on my way to class
Especially college advices about time management :)
I totally agree with the read with a friend tag. That's the only way I got through my summer reading.
Thanks for these helpful tips Regan 😊 I'm almost back in school and I have plenty of books that I wanted to read during summer but never got the chance to =))
Thank you so much for all of the tips! Great video (:
Loved this video!! Thank you soooo much!
I totally needed this
This was sooo helpful! Love your glasses, by the way! Where did you get your glasses?
General college advice would be awesome!
Thanks for the tips! I do the 'long books are for summer, short books are for the school year' thing too :')
I NEEDED this video. Perfect timing! The procrastination tip will really help me. It's funny cause I'm procrastinating as I watch this video. -_-
thank you for this video, I have just started Uni and need to read so much for class but also want to read my favorite books
This video was on my home page for recommended and it couldn't have been a better time. I've been in reading slump because of school and work.
THIS IS WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR! OH THANK YOU!
This video is great. Thanks for the tips really! I'm so bad at time management that I never manage to read much of what I really enjoy during school (I read a billion medical books though as I'm in med school). Anyway, during my tiny vacations I read like a series or smth and afterwards I am so mad at myself that I didn't read anything really worth my time that I start reading a lot of books at once but only manage to finish like one or two.
How to read a book with friends? It seems fun but I'd like to see how people do it? Like do they plan an amount of pages to read by a certain date orrr
A scheduled reading time is always helpful for me. :-)
Thank you so much for the tips! It was very helpful 😁
Great video! I'm definitely using these tips!! :D
omg i preach this video to the high heavens
I actually love reading big books during school. You obviously take a lot of time to read them, but the feeling afterwards is awesome. Last week I finished "a storm of swords" and I felt so good, I was like: "yes, finally!! I finished it" it felt so so good. Now I started pride and prejudice. I'm Italian but I'm reading it in English, I know it won't be easy, but I'm giving it a try
Lolz I read most of the asoiaf serie during finals (belgian college = shorter semester, followed by 4 weeks of "exam period" fun fun fun), I just was so hooked on them... I'd study for an hour, read for hour, study for an hour, etc. all day long. I'm cool like that.
A song of ice and fire never feels like a chore haha. Nice video :)
I agree, im 12 so i still have a bedtime for school, so whenever its time to go to bed, i feel sad/mad cause i love that series, im almost finished with A Clash Of Kings
as a college student who commutes to school i have discovered listening to audio books while driving to and from school is a good way to get in more reading (well listening). plus i always have a book with me to read if im early for a class or something
Yes on having a book with you at all times. I always carry the one im reading in my bag to school, dinner, aunts place, you name it, Its coming with me. You can always fit in a few minutes in the car, before the lecturer comes in etc
Thank you so much for this!!
Awesome tips. So true about reading with a friend. I just hate thinking if my friend is ahead of me, they know things I didn't get to yet! Drives me crazy! Could you also make a video about moving into your dorm at college? I'm about to be a senior and idk that scares me a lot, being away from home for so long. I'm very conflicted about the whole thing
during this past school year I read almost every night before I went to bed from 8-10 PM and that would really help me get through the books that have just been piling up over time that I've always wanted to read. I'm definitely going to be doing the same thing come this school year and probably the rest!
I would love a video focused on college because since I'm going this fall for my freshman year it would be extremely helpful
I go from 8am to 6pm almost every single day except for tuesdays. Thank you for making this video.
I love the intro of this video it's funny😆 p.s you're gorgeous
It's funny because I had a REALLY hard time reading this summer. I only read like 7 books in the past 4 months, omg. I guess that happens when you have a full-time job and you spend most of your 3 hours of free time per day on the internet. When I go back to school my schedule will more open. I fell like 12 books behind on my Goodreads goal this summer, but I'll probably catch up when I go back to school! I'm a special case, I suppose, haha!
OMG I'm the same! During school I read so much!
I went through a major reading slump from my freshman year to halfway through my junior year of college because I never knew what I wanted to read. None of my friends at college really seemed to like reading, so thank goodness for BookTube!
This is great advice! I'm going back to school this month (eep) and am sad about not having much time to read.
