Very transparent and real. Got my first sale today and I was not aware of how much the production cost actually goes into the product until I looked at the order. Something to keep in mind of and calculate your prices accordingly. What are your takes on free shipping if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to offer free shipping but the shipping costs takes a toll on profit. Normally I would increase my price but I would like to keep my prices competitive relative to the competition.

Yay! Congrats on your first sale! I personally offer free shipping on all orders over $35 so I can incentivize orders with more than one product, however, a lot of sellers prefer to charge shipping so they can offer a lower price on the search page. I would do a test! You can duplicate the listing and offer free shipping for that listing for a month and see which has better engagement! Or just run your current setup for a month, mark down your sales and then try free shipping next month with the increased price and see if you see an uplift in sales.

Great breakdown and congratulations on a successful 1st year! Wondering if you also tracked hours worked including customer service, designing, etc?

Thank you! I definitely should have done a better job tracking time spent, but if I had to estimate, I would say I put in about an hour a day across customer service, designing, making new products etc.

Cost for researchtools, design tools or membership costs should also be calculated for. Do you not have any of that?

good point! Yes! Lots of extra expenses here. This is just a pure breakdown of profit based on an etsy fees, marketing, and COGS sold perspective. I pay about $15 a month for Canva and $20 a month for everbee.io subscription. I would assume an extra ~$50 a month in ad hoc fees once you exhaust the free trials. I'll post some more details about all of the software I use!

@@MegitRainI bought the Canva PRO for a whole year for 120 dollars. That reduces the cost per month. I wanted to quiet everbee but when I did they offered me half prize, 15 dollars a month. I had that a few month, but now I cancelled that. I am not sure I can trust those numbers.

I bought Canva for a whole year for 120 dollars, so that will be a smaller monthly cost. I wanted to cancel Everbee but once I did that, they offered me 50% off, so it became 15 USD per month. I have cancelled it now anyway. Creative Fabrica hade a great deal at Halloween and Christmas so I paid for two years memebership (58,75 USD per year)🙂@@MegitRain
