As someone with the most extreme dry skin (autoimmune disease) that’s very sensitive, Rhode was incredible… at first. I used it for about 6-7 months, cycling through 3 orders and even ordering backups each order, and only using the brand, no additions, so I knew I loved it. But, at some point somewhere about a year ago, my skin started looking dull, congested, older, and it just wasn’t working for me. I then switched back to Youth to the People and the livelihood came back. It’s a working theory, but I think the overload of peptides is what did it. You’re introducing the same actives and ingredients 3+ times in layers, it’s going to overload. I get the brand concept being peptides are the new it thing, but I feel like the products themselves ultimately do not play well together for the long haul. It’d be nice to see a non-harsh, soothing brand that works in harmony. For instances, all the products are great stand alone products and I’ve been successfully using the moisturizer solo with other skincare with no “overload”. So, why not do a barrier support cream sans peptides; give the peptides its time to shine in the serum… From a marketing and expansion POV, limiting yourself to only formulating to include peptides cuts out a lot of potential. Even the most resilient of skin is going to be overloaded eventually. Idk. Just a thought lol.
Yeah, I hope they don’t get too limited down into it because there is more scope out there. That said I don’t think I’ll have too much of a trouble exploring outside of peptides when the winds change. But I am curious to know if more people like yourself, had a problem with overloading on it.

As always a stunning analysis of Rhode. With your smart and thorough research I again, adore what you do. There really isn't anything out there on skin care and fashion business analysis like your wonderful videos. Appreciate all your hard work and care on this series. As a business researcher I often thing of a brand's "unique value proposition" and as you state, Rhode doesn't really have strong differentiators as a skincare brand.
Yeah, to me, that’s the one thing I look for in a brand, what their point of difference is. And if they don’t have one, I know that it won’t be sticking around for very long. I’m glad that you enjoy my videos and you get the same things as I do 💕
I also thought of the reality of customer loyalty towards a skincare brand. You can't just sell to new customers all the time since customer acquisition is so expensive. You have to have regular customers that repeatedly buy your skincare. I wonder how these more celebrity brand firms work towards customer retention, not just acquisition. @@underskinYT
Honestly I think it’s a fairly good brand. I have no interest in it personally but I deff think it’s not bad. I just prefer k beauty products and they are cheaper lol
I suffer with perioral dermatitis same as Hailey, and her stuff works amazing for me and doesn’t trigger a flare up at all which people with PD know how difficult that can be! It’s amazing for skin that’s prone to certain reactions and the glazing milk makes my skin look amazing.

I will NEVER buy Rhode beauty - a celebrity brands using their money and fame to crush other brands will never sit right with me. And it's wasn't that they were developed at the same time, or similar names or anything like that - they knew and didn't care. But to mention there is nothing unique about this brand and Rare Beauty is filling this space and doing it well
There’s a market for everything. Just because you don’t purchase it doesn’t hinder me from purchasing it. I personally like the lip treatments and I will continue purchasing them
@@underskinYT do sure. Rare isn't for me and I had no idea about there tax write off charity pledge but between successful brands like rare and glossier I struggle to see where Rhode's place would be.
@@newona4313 The owned the name and the trademark, how is that “no standing”? They lost their request because Haylie has a rich and powerful family/ management team that was able to crush the little guy.
But I think that is one of the reasons celebrity brands are considered a shallow cash grab, when the creative director decides on a popular name flippantly not considering copyright at all. it’s very similar to to the issues behind Kylie “not knowing” about Kylie Minouge and Kim K “not knowing” that the Japanese have a millennia old tradition of dressing called kimono. It’s just a giant red flag that even the name is not considered at the beginning with these brands but they be swearing lol
You said what I was going to say, that not considering others probably isnt a good sign that the brand is well conceived, hell even I as a youtuber checked other channels before I made my channel name

I think unlike other product based brands Rhode has the potential to become a curated epicentre of calming care. Like media, products, the interviews she does with celebrities all aiming towards launching something with a trendsetting focus like a publication or media company. Think like how Reese Witherspoon's book club became a media empire.
Can you do a video about Lori Harvey's SKN line? I feel like her brands came out around the same time but I never hear much about it. I love your content
The worst part is someone found mold on one of the lipstick, and the fact she didn't address makes her look bad, and people won't want to buy her products.
Some celebrity and influencer skincare brands seem to be fine and/or actually pretty good. Rhodes would be one of them. But as someone with mild eczema and acne to deal with, I prefer brands that are more tried and true like Cetaphil, Aveeno, DermaB, and The Ordinary and La Roche Posay has products that I know helps my acne very well.
Aveeno just changed their recipe and Im furious, I used to use their moisturiser religiously, Im now on Cetaphil but because Im also one with extremely sensitive skin I was so annoyed
I love her products tbh and it's really good for dry skin. Her peptide lip treatments and her barrier cream are chef's kiss especially for changing seasons. The chemist team behind Rhode is actually very good and the head is very renowned so I'm not shocked.
I have exceptionally dry skin, so I am very sceptical with any kind of skin care that is scented and I pretty much have to stick to the basics, despite how much I find it industry fascinating, so maybe with this recommendation I will try it out in more detail
@@underskinYTI have the most sensitive skin on the planet. Fragrance & essential oils are a hard NO for me. I’m also usually against celeb brands. Just wish it was in a pump bcuz of the peptides like the glazing fluid. But she did good.
The packaging definitely plays a role in it they look cheap and not worth the money grab similar to r.e.m beauty most people didnt buy it because it looked like merch while for rare beauty the packaging looked elegant and had a purpose packaging a side the lip product had so many mixed reviews and she wasnt open to criticism when her own fans was demanding an explanation and refund etc if she was open to it i think it definitely would help out alot because it means you're willing to make it better and listen to your customers

Just because they have more resources don't mean they don't have the passion, knowledge and drive to thrive like a business mogul

I absolutely love her products. I have really sensitive and dry skin. It will break out with the wrong moisturizers and some it hates like La Roche Posay. My skin seems to like Rhode products. They’ve helped restore my skin barrier and it’s keeping flaky patches away this winter. I’m sure there are other products out there that would do the same, but this is affordable, feels a sleek and sort of luxury for my life and most of all works.
I also have extremely sensitive skin, but there are so many comments under the video saying it’s bad for sensitive skin and so many saying it’s good, it’s hard to know which side to trust

i get the ick when celebrities launch skincare brands, as i feel that most of them are just overpriced drugstore quality cremes and serums that don’t even meet the need criteria for skin improvement. i prefer rare beauty, as i think their melting blushes are just beautiful design wise and work well for me. also, while think rare beauty foundations are very basic, their blushes and liquid blushes have a more individual design as minimal make up brands these days. but focusing back on skincare, i don’t really get the thought of inviting a skincare influencer to represent your product. especially when it comes to skincare you need to have skin specialist to back you up. and with skin specialists i don’t mean skincare hobbyist with a slight consumer problem but people who majored in chemistry or anything in the dermatology kind of field. also everything has been looking the same lately, i really can’t tell the difference between ilia, rem and rhode beauty
Just as my own opinion, I don’t necessarily think it’s bad for them to have brought on cosmetic influencers to be part of the promotion in the way that they did, only because we know from experience that most celebrities who start their own brands in cosmetics, have no knowledge in that whatsoever themselves. They’re usually just the front of a premade business, REM, SKKN, rare beauty, all included in that. So to me, there’s not a huge amount of difference between having a celebrity be the face of the brand, and having cosmetic influencer suggested as a guide to the brand

I still think people buy these "celebrity beauty lines" to just try to buy a piece of their fave celebrity they really don't have a legacy or quality for that matter. When the celebrity stops being popular the brand dies especially in beauty. Then you have us pro makeup artists with brands busting our buts and really trying to build legacy brands that could be used on all skin types and shoot conditions.... @@lc-il6wr that's good, if you perceive something you don't like, you should not buy into it
As always a stunning analysis of Rhode.

There is very little that is unique about Hailey Bieber. "Generic" is a fitting adjective for her and her brand.
It’s unfortunate
I like how rhode is honest about stuff. Especially in their reviews when you buy their products; not a lot do that. They seem trustworthy to me.
I see their honesty in two veins. Obviously it is unlikely that the brand was Hailey’s idea, thats just rarely how any celeb brand works, but I like that I havent seen reports of deleting negative comments. Also, the product isnt promising to reinvent the wheel, so theres honesty in that too
I will NEVER buy Rhode beauty - a celebrity brands using their money and fame to crush other brands will never sit right with me. And it's wasn't that they were developed at the same time, or similar names or anything like that - they knew and didn't care. But to mention there is nothing unique about this brand and Rare Beauty is filling this space and doing it well
I agree with what you said, but I still am not sold on rare either tbh, the whole shady ‘charity’ aspect gives me hesitant pause
The “other brand” was a clothing brand and they lost their request for a lawsuit for a reason. Because they had no standing
@@newona4313 The owned the name and the trademark, how is that “no standing”? They lost their request because Haylie has a rich and powerful family/ management team that was able to crush the little guy.
I think because it’s hailey second name (rhode) she went with the name ignoring the similarities with other brands
It's also sad that when I search Rhodes skin, Hailey Beiber's Rhode Skin is first on the search page not Rhodes Skin.
@@sarahwales6276they pay for that

I think unlike other product based brands Rhode has the potential to become a curated epicentre of calming care. Like media, products, the interviews she does with celebrities all aiming towards launching something with a trendsetting focus like a publication or media company.
Think like how Reese Witherspoon's book club became a media empire.

I have exceptionally dry skin, so I am very sceptical with any kind of skin care that is scented and I pretty much have to stick to the basics, despite how much I find it industry fascinating, so maybe with this recommendation I will try it out in more detail

I will not trust a skincare line that has a celebrity face
Very seldom to the celebrities have anything to do with it really
But what you would do is go work for one. I don't think you understand that whilst they are existing they are also providing jobs. Interesting ones as well. i get the ick when celebrities launch skincare brands, as i feel that most of them are just overpriced drugstore quality cremes and serums that don’t even meet the need criteria for skin improvement. i prefer rare beauty, as i think their melting blushes are just beautiful design wise and work well for me. also, while think rare beauty foundations are very basic, their blushes and liquid blushes have a more individual design as minimal make up brands these days. but focusing back on skincare, i don’t really get the thought of inviting a skincare influencer to represent your product. especially when it comes to skincare you need to have skin specialist to back you up. and with skin specialists i don’t mean skincare hobbyist with a slight consumer problem but people who majored in chemistry or anything in the dermatology kind of field. also everything has been looking the same lately, i really can’t tell the difference between ilia, rem and rhode beauty
When yall skin breaks out from Rhode then they'll realize that they shouldnve been supporting a bully.
