This brings me back to 1977 Capital Theater in Passaic NJ! Kansas and Rush. Kansas had just come out with Leftoverture - fantastic! Rush just came out with 2112 - one of the most amazing albums of all time, which we listened to non stop in the weeks leading up to the concert. I was 16, in the 20th row. Will never forget it. Went out and bought Fly By Night album the next day. Outstanding lesson JJ!!!
Yo thanks James, cheers from Canada man. Thanks for all the zepplin lessons I’ve only been playing guitar for 6 months but your lessons have helped me improve so much. Big respect to you and stay safe during these crazy times
This takes me back to being 12 years old in '79 and learning this riff! Dude, I thought I was a guitar GOD when I figured it out! Turns out I was wrong about that, but it's a great sounding riff I still use to make sure a guitar is in tune when I pick it up. Great pick JJ!
Nice work! I'm just revisiting RUSH listened to them so much in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I've just been figuring out the chords/riff to Working Man - a heavy track, very cool.
Love love love the videos man. No BS ! No 15 minutes of talking/ just here’s the lick, here’s how to play it and you don’t post it if it isn’t right! Always go here if I want to learn how to play it right!
Bro, you are the best dude/ teacher on the internet. I’d love to meet you in person and hug you like dudes hug Springsteen to thank you for all you do for guitarists. Thanks for everything man...
I remember figuring out that 2nd chord also....it was one of my most exciting times playing guitar. I had been playing Dsus I think and this changed the entire song for me.
Well, I've been close for thirty-some years. Didn't know the middle part, thanks! I did have the second chord correct, mainly because my buddy with a composition degree from Eastman showed me. That's how I was able to have the garbage plate.
Dude. 1. I have the same shirt (very cool), 2. thanks for doing FBN by Rush, 3. I'm a sh*tty guitar player but your lessons are the best and with your videos i am getting so much better. Just wanted to say thanks for your time and efforts! I'm also a huge Who fan which you appear to be as well. Long Live Rock! Neil
This reminds of the days a friend of mine and myself recording this on tape deck in the garage... Thinking how great it sounded (sharing a 6 pack mind you)... Wake up listen to it again.... Absolute failure! Lmao.... Best times of my life! Wouldn't change a thing! 😎
Dude, please. You got to say something about that 345 at some point. It’s new in your collection. What do you think of it? A lot of people hate on the Varitone. To me, it’s magic. Tell. Testify.
Also...I find your lessons help me catch on to licks much easier than others. You make it doable and the long fingers help me to see what you're laying down.
@@jamesjames9275 I know, call me crazy, but the first time Alex plays it it sounds like it's missing the low G,but as soon as the bass enters it sounds like he adds the low g. I could just be crazy. woudn't be the first time.

"Don't fret the G-string!" 'lest you incur the wrath of Prince By-Tor...

Nice catch with that second chord of the opening riff. Thanks for posting.
I just bought that same shirt the other day 😂🤣
very great man, loved the shirt too!
That fuckin tone sounds great. Especially that open D and G together. Yeowza.

I love your explanations how to play this song and the others you've put up. Thanks for breaking them down!
Jimmy james comes thru once again for us mere mortals..LOL, good job sir, TY
Love your videos and especially the snarkiness in the comments! Quite entertaining! Keep em coming.

Nice breaking it down, James! 👍👍 Cheers! \|/
I just watched the rush documentary on Netflix so this is a nice pudding to that main meal.
Thanks for this! I appreciate all you demos and lessons. If you ever want some replacement pickups I would be happy to make you some.
Love the shirt, James!

Good lesson. During the chorus, I like to slide the G form chord up to the 15th and hit the whole thing instead of just the b and e strings.

sweet again....you rock
Happy Canada Day James
Gilmour Academy east side of Cleveland. Good tune as well.
Thanks for the video! What kind of guitar is that?
Gibson ES345
Great lesson. 👍🏻. NO G STRING!!
CooooooooL !!!
First Rush video after passing of Neil Peart. I suppose you're not a fan of later Rush. To me all albums from 2112 to Power Windows are A+ rating.
Friggin’ Right, eh!
That 2nd chord need the G in the bass.
Edit: actually the 2nd chord is 3X2033
Hmm. I don’t hear the low G. But play it however you hear it.

I thought all your vids incorporated delay.
You're wrong.
